Potential Spoiler On A New Match For WWE Crown Jewel

Production setup at Riyadh Season Stadium points to a new match for Crown Jewel on Nov. 7, though WWE has yet to officially announce the bout.

WWE may have tipped its hand on a fifth match for Crown Jewel. Promotional artwork featuring GUNTHER and Finn Balor has gone up at one of the gates of Riyadh Season Stadium at KAFD, the venue hosting the Premium Live Event on Saturday, Nov. 7, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The photo was posted Wednesday morning by X user @wrestlng (Mohammed Waheed), who has been documenting the venue build. According to his post, the other side of the same display promotes Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton, which WWE has already made official as a Last Man Standing match for Crown Jewel.

WWE has not announced GUNTHER vs. Balor, and local advertising can change. Still, putting two of the company’s top European stars (Balor is from Ireland, GUNTHER from Austria) on the venue’s signage is a strong signal of where this feud is headed.

A Feud Built On SmackDown

The two have been circling each other since SummerSlam, where both were part of the Fatal Four-Way to determine the No. 1 contender for the Undisputed WWE Championship. On the Oct. 9 SmackDown, GUNTHER attacked Danhausen before their match could start. Balor ran him off to make the save, only for GUNTHER to return later and powerbomb him onto the announce desk.

Balor’s schedule offers another clue. He was originally announced for Zuffa Boxing 12 in London on Nov. 7, the same night as Crown Jewel. WWE UK has since named Drew McIntyre as the star appearing alongside Bayley at that show, and Balor no longer appears in the event’s advertising.

A marquee singles match would also answer a question that has followed GUNTHER for weeks. Even John Cena recently said WWE may be wasting GUNTHER right now.

Crown Jewel Card And Venue Update

Four matches are official so far, and two of them won’t have their final participants set until this Friday’s SmackDown:

  • Men’s Crown Jewel Championship: Roman Reigns vs. the winner of Sami Zayn vs. Trick Williams for the Undisputed WWE Championship on the Oct. 30 SmackDown
  • Women’s Crown Jewel Championship: Liv Morgan vs. the winner of Chelsea Green vs. Nikki Bella for the WWE Women’s Championship on the Oct. 30 SmackDown
  • Last Man Standing match: Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton
  • World Tag Team Championship: The Vision (Bron Breakker and Austin Theory) vs. Penta and Je’Von Evans

Waheed also shared a new video on the venue’s progress today. Per his update, crews have started installing and raising the arena roof, most of the grandstand work is complete, and the stage has reached a significant height.

WWE is pressing ahead in Riyadh despite U.S. government travel warnings, though people on the ground believe the situation is nowhere near as bad as reported. Crown Jewel starts at 12 p.m. ET on Nov. 7 and streams on the ESPN App in the United States and on Netflix internationally.
