Former TNA World Champion Departs

ByAndrew RavensProfessional Wrestling Journalist

TNA Wrestling has come to terms on the release of Eric Young.

Young is one of TNA’s most decorated performers and a company original, having debuted in 2004 and accumulated 14 championships across multiple reigns. He is a two-time TNA World Champion, a seven-time World Tag Team Champion, and also held the X Division and Legends/Television/King of the Mountain titles during his tenure. He and ODB hold the record for the longest-reigning TNA Knockouts Tag Team Championship reign at 478 days.

Between TNA runs, Young signed with WWE in 2016, where he won the NXT Tag Team Championship as part of SAnitY before moving to the main roster in 2019 and being released in 2020. He returned to TNA — then Impact Wrestling — later that year and formed Violent By Design before departing again in 2022. He returned to the promotion for a third time in 2023.

His release continues a turbulent period at TNA, which has seen Tommy Dreamer, Sami Callihan, Tessa Blanchard, and Steve Maclin all depart the company in recent weeks.
