Chelsea Green has 30 days.
The future of the interim Women’s Champion had been in doubt since she revealed her orbital bone injury following a tag team match against Fatal Influence on the August 8 SmackDown. Tonight’s episode of the Blue Branded Show then saw General Manager Nick Aldis addressing the issue. Aldis called Green to the ring to inform her that she will have to relinquish the title on the advice of the medical team.
The Women’s Champion cut a heartfelt promo about how she was always seen as the comic relief and perfect opponent to elevate other women, but never seen as the champion herself. Following the promo, Chelsea Green shoved the title in Aldis’ hand and started walking away. The SmackDown GM then had a change of heart, however, as he told the female star to wait.
Nick Aldis said that as a man, he did not give a damn about what the medical has to say. He gave Green 30 days to do whatever she has to do to get cleared and said that until someone takes the title from her, it’s hers. Chelsea then got back into the ring and took the belt back from Aldis. Before the segment could end, however, Gunther made his entrance.
The Ring General mocked Chelsea for her sob story, leading to Matt Cardona joining his wife in the ring. The former World Champion did not hold back on Cardona either, and the exchange turned into a brawl when the former Zack Ryder attacked Gunther. The officials showed up to break the fight. The two SmackDown stars then had an impromptu match, which was won by Gunther.
