Stone Cold Steve Austin is in talks for a WWE return.
The WrestleMania season is set to kick off officially with the Royal Rumble PPV from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, next Saturday, and it appears that WWE is looking to make big waves heading into the Show of Shows this year.
According to reports from Fightful Select, there has been an internal discussion about none other than Stone Cold Steve Austin making a WWE appearance in the near future.
The Texas Rattlesnake has curiously not made many appearances on WWE TV since Triple H took over the creative. He came close to a role in the WrestleMania 40 main event between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns, but the Attitude Era star ultimately passed on the opportunity. He then made a brief WrestleMania 41 appearance, crashing his ATV and cutting a promo for the fans.
The report does not state what the pitched plan for Austin's return is, but it's not hard to imagine that the company would be interested in bringing him in for a Royal Rumble appearance to please the Kingdom.
