Ilja Dragunov is wasting no time making his intentions known in AEW. Asked at the WrestleDream post-show media scrum who on the roster he most wants to face, he said it’s easier to name who he doesn’t want to wrestle.
Dragunov stated that when he looks across the AEW locker room, he struggles to pick anyone he’d rather avoid. He did name three starting points: Jon Moxley, Samoa Joe and Kyle Fletcher. He called the roster full of amazing competitors.
The Fletcher name carries some extra weight. Fletcher recently said Dragunov is an old friend he hasn’t seen in years, and that he’s looking forward to a reunion.
Dragunov said that since arriving and being presented to the media, he feels like he’s “starving for competition.” He also left a warning for whoever ends up across the ring from him: that person has a serious problem now that he’s here.
That is a great question. A better question is, who not? For real, if I think about all the competitors here at AEW, it is hard to say who I do not want to wrestle.
It starts with a Moxley, it goes on with a Joe, it goes on with a Fletcher, so many amazing competitors in that ring. Since I’m here and I went to this presentation in front of all of you, I feel like I’m starving. I’m starving for competition, and I know that whoever I will step up against has a serious problem because now I am here.
Fightful Select had reported ahead of the show that Dragunov was expected to sign with AEW.
