WWE will bring the John Cena Classic this year, and a potential date has been set for the exciting competition.
According to the latest update by Fightful Select on X, WWE is currently targeting December 2026 for the tournament to begin. Interestingly, it would coincide with the anniversary month of Cena’s retirement from in-ring competition, if that happens.
The Never Seen 17 has still remained an integral part of WWE after wrestling his final match against Gunther at Saturday Night’s Main Event in December 2025. He announced the John Cena Classic during his appearance at the WWE Backlash Premium Live Event a few months ago. Cena revealed that it will feature competition between stars of the RAW, SmackDown, and NXT rosters.
Moreover, the tournament will also crown a Champion. Most importantly, Cena decided to make the fans a huge part of the entire John Cena Classic, granting them a special power. Even if a superstar is eliminated from the competition, the fan votes could bring him back.
In a follow-up update, the 17-time WWE World Champion had revealed that the tournament was still under early development. Despite that, fans have been excited for the John Cena Classic ever since the announcement was made.
With the potential date being December, it will be interesting to see this live action commence in WWE as part of John Cena’s legacy.
