John Cena’s latest appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon had an Easter egg to his WWE legacy that he revealed himself.
Upon gracing the stage, the Cenation Leader began talking with the host, Jimmy Fallon. During their conversation, Cena revealed that this marked his “17th” appearance on The Tonight Show. He then asked the audience if they ever watched WWE, which garnered a loud pop.
For the unversed fans, Cena explained that the number 17 meant a lot to him, as he has won a record-breaking 17 World titles in WWE. Moreover, that also earned him the nickname ‘Never Seen 17.’ He said:
This, I did so research, is my 17th time on the Tonight Show. Do we have anybody who has ever watched WWE in our energetic audience? [crowd shouted] If you have, you know something that the number 17 has great meaning to me because I have won a total of 17 World Championships in WWE.
John Cena began his WWE farewell tour at the start of 2025 and had declared his intentions to win one more World title before retirement. He had turned heel and defeated Cody Rhodes to win his record-setting 17th World title in the main event of WrestleMania 41.
Cena ultimately dropped it back to Rhodes at SummerSlam 2025 and retired from in-ring competition at Saturday Night’s Main Event in December. Currently, he is still signed with WWE as an ambassador and is set to bring a new style of competition named after him, ‘The John Cena Classic.’
With Cena still a strong and vital part of WWE, it will be interesting to see his role moving forward.
