MJF and Kevin Nash have been trading mutual praise across their respective podcasts, with MJF crediting Nash and the late Scott Hall for making professional wrestling financially “healthier” and Nash admitting MJF’s 2022 worked shoot promo on Tony Khan fooled even him.
MJF spoke on Shut Up and Wrestle, saying every wrestler owes a debt to Nash, Hall, and their agent Barry Bloom for negotiating the groundbreaking contracts that set the precedent for high guaranteed salaries when the two jumped from WWE to WCW in the 1990s.
Nash reacted to those comments on Kliq This, saying MJF’s promo skills are so sharp they got through even his experienced defenses.
I think he knows how much I appreciate him. We’ve had conversations. I think he’s super talented. I remember when he did the one where he was telling Tony Khan, ‘Fing fire me, fire me, Tony, fing fire me.’ They cut his mic off. I remember I was watching it live and I just thought like, to the point where I’m like, ‘Man, he must want to go to fing New York.’ And I went, ‘Oh, f, man, you got me.'
Asked whether his legacy in wrestling will be defined more by what he did in the ring or what he accomplished on the business side, Nash was characteristically direct.
Well, it sure as f*** isn’t going to be the sh*t I did off the top rope.
Nash was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame individually in 2015 and again as a member of the nWo in 2020.
