Lyra Valkyria gets a new theme.
The former NXT star has undergone some major presentation changes since turning heel and attacking her partner Bayley, following their loss in a tag team title match on the June 22 episode of Raw last month. She debuted a new look on this week’s episode of the Red Branded show, which received a lot of attention on social media.
This was followed by the former Women’s IC Champion debuting a remixed version of her theme song to go with her new persona at tonight’s Saturday Night’s Main Event, where she was facing Bayley in a singles match:
The match itself saw Lyra Valkyria getting busted open pretty badly after a punch from Bayley outside the ring early in the bout. The referee had to stop the action momentarily to get her bleeding under control, but then the fight resumed.
In the end, it was Valkyria who picked up the victory after locking her former partner into the Captain’s Hook. Though she was not done with her opponent even after the bell, and Lyra put Bayley through the steel steps to end the segment.
It’s likely that Bayley will remain off TV for a while after the post-match attack. We will have to see what’s next for Valkyria after her victory on the show.
