Mercedes Mone has done it again.
At AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door on Sunday at the SAP Center in San Jose, California, Mone won the 2026 Women’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament, defeating Maya World in the final to earn a shot at the AEW Women’s World Championship at All In.
Mone also won the tournament in 2025, only to come up short against Toni Storm in her title match at All In. This time, she has secured herself another opportunity at the top prize.
Maya World entered the final as the surprise story of the tournament, having upset Athena to reach the championship match. The bout carried added emotional weight, with commentary noting that World recently lost her brother, who had been her inspiration for getting into professional wrestling.
Once the bell rang, Mone controlled much of the action, keeping the pressure on World throughout. World repeatedly fought back, winning over the San Jose crowd with each comeback, none bigger than her kickout of the Money Maker. The near fall sent the fans into a frenzy, and World kept the momentum going with a flurry of offense, including a moonsault that nearly put Mone away.
World later trapped Mone in the Statement Maker, but the former champion managed to escape. Mone then turned the tables, locking in the Statement Maker herself and forcing World to tap out.
With the win, Mone became the 2026 Women’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament winner, capturing back-to-back Owen Hart Cup victories. The achievement puts her in rare company, as she is now the first woman to win the prestigious tournament in consecutive years. Previous winners include Britt Baker in 2022, Willow Nightingale in 2023, Mariah May in 2024, and Mone herself in 2025.
The victory sends Mone right back to All In with another crack at the AEW Women’s World Championship, a stage where she fell short a year ago. All In 2026 takes place on Sunday, August 30, at Wembley Stadium in London, England.
