AEW World Champion Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF) recently revealed why he plans to stay with AEW, citing creative freedom and his belief that he is a major draw for the promotion. MJF is scheduled to defend his World title against Hangman Adam Page at AEW Revolution 2026.
Ahead of AEW Dynamite in El Paso, Texas, MJF appeared for an interview with ABC-7 sports director Adrian Ochoa on KVIA, where he shared his thoughts on his plans on staying with AEW.
'Salt of the Earth' highlighted his value to the company. The two-time AEW World Champion explained that he has creative freedom, which helps him keep going.
He said:
What keeps me in AEW is my ability to be myself; there’s no leash on me. I don’t have to worry about anyone sitting me down and telling me what I am doing right or wrong.
MJF added:
My boss knows I am the draw. I have the World title right now. Ratings are up, ticket sales are up. I wonder why? He lets me do my thing. So, I don’t think I’ll ever leave.
MJF's Second World Title Run
MJF made a surprise return on AEW Dynamite Holiday Bash and cashed in his Casino Gauntlet contract to insert himself into the AEW World Championship match at Worlds End. He recently won the AEW World Championship by pinning Samoa Joe in a Fatal Four-Way match at AEW Worlds End on December 27th, 2025.
He is currently scheduled to put his World title on the line against Hangman Adam Page on AEW Revolution 2026.
