MJF has commented on AEW's 'problem children.'
The AEW World Champion recently spoke to New York Post to promote the upcoming Double or Nothing PPV. The show has been announced for the Louis Armstrong Stadium in Queens, New York, on May 24.
During the interview, the Salt of the Earth discussed the recent momentum shift for the company, explaining that it's a result of everyone in the promotion working together to put the best foot forward. He compared it to the situation just a couple of years ago when AEW was facing the challenge of a divided locker room, leading to business metrics suffering across the board:
To put it mildly, I don’t have to name names, it’s not necessary to name names, but problem children tend to have a way of finding their way out the door, and some of those problem children, in my opinion, they thought they were taking a step forward when all they were doing was taking a step laterally or backwards.
There have been many talents who have jumped ship from WWE to AEW and vice versa since the inception of the Tony Khan-owned promotion in 2019. This includes names such as Cody Rhodes, CM Punk, Jade Cargill, and Swerve Strickland, who have all utilised the momentum from the move to reach new levels in their careers.
The grass has not been greener for everyone who has made the move, however. Notably, names such as Aleister Black, Rusev, Ricky Saints, and Mariah May have found themselves struggling to make an impact at their new home. Most recently fans have complained about WWE putting May, now going by the name of Blake Monroe in the Speed Title Tournament.
