NXT Great American Bash 2026 Preview: Matches, How To Watch

ByMike ReichlinProfessional Wrestling Journalist

NXT Great American Bash 2026 goes down Sunday, June 28, from the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, and it doubles as a milestone: the first NXT Premium Live Event to air live on broadcast television via The CW Network.

Tony D’Angelo defends the NXT Championship against Naraku to open the show, while Lola Vice puts the NXT Women’s Championship on the line against Kendal Grey in the main event. Seven matches are confirmed across the card.

Key Points

  • High Stakes Matches: Tony D’Angelo (c) vs. Naraku for the NXT Championship opens the night, Lola Vice (c) vs. Kendal Grey for the NXT Women’s Championship headlines, and three more titles are on the line.
  • A Network First: This is the first NXT PLE to broadcast live on The CW, part of WWE’s new television deal that puts all NXT premium events on the network.
  • How to Watch: Sunday, June 28, 7 p.m. ET on The CW (United States) and Netflix (internationally).

A New Stage For NXT

The Great American Bash has been an NXT staple since its 2020 revival, but this year carries different weight. WWE confirmed earlier this year that all NXT Premium Live Events are moving to The CW Network, with the Great American Bash serving as the first event under the arrangement.

General Manager Robert Stone announced the match order in a video released Thursday, locking in the NXT Championship as the opener and the NXT Women’s Championship as the main event. The show shares Sunday night with AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, setting up a busy evening for wrestling fans.

Stone also confirmed on the June 23 show that luchadores from AAA will appear at the event after a conversation with Rey Mysterio, though no names or roles have been announced. On the pre-show side, Kevin Owens is set to appear at the Great American Bash tailgate and watch party hosted by Busted Open’s Dave LaGreca.

Match Previews

NXT Championship: Tony D’Angelo (c) vs. Naraku

D’Angelo defends against a New Japan veteran who has rocketed up the card since arriving, and the build has turned personal heading into the opener.

  • The challenge: Naraku, the former EVIL, earned the shot after a run of wins in NXT that included a number one contender’s victory over Mason Rook.
  • The reign: D’Angelo’s first championship run has included successful defenses, establishing him as one of the most tenured stars on the brand.
  • The flashpoint: Naraku hit D’Angelo with a fireball attack in the build-up, a brazen escalation that D’Angelo answered by returning to confront the challenger on the June 23 go-home show.
  • The contrast: The two reached the top in different ways, D’Angelo through years inside the NXT system and Naraku after forging his craft overseas as a former IWGP Heavyweight Champion.
  • What’s at stake: The NXT Championship, and the chance for Naraku to complete his takeover of the brand in his first title opportunity on the main roster.

NXT Women’s Championship: Lola Vice (c) vs. Kendal Grey

Vice headlines the Bash defending against a fast-rising challenger who has been chasing this exact moment since the night Vice won the belt.

  • The challenge: Grey, a former EVOLVE Women’s Champion and collegiate wrestling standout, earned her title shot by beating Kelani Jordan in a number one contender’s match.
  • The history: Grey was in the triple threat match where Vice dethroned Jacy Jayne for the title, leaving an open question of whether she could have won it herself.
  • The reign: Vice has backed up that championship victory by turning back challenger after challenger, cementing her standing at the top of the women’s division.
  • The spotlight: Booking the women’s title as the main event hands Vice and Grey the closing slot on a historic night for the brand.
  • What’s at stake: The NXT Women’s Championship, and Grey’s chance to prove the path that started in that triple threat ends with gold.

NXT Women’s North American Championship: Zaria (c) vs. Tatum Paxley

Zaria makes her first televised defense against the woman she took the title from earlier this month.

  • The challenger: Paxley gets an immediate rematch after Zaria beat her for the championship on the June 9 NXT.
  • The history: Paxley recently competed in the first women’s casket match in WWE history, marking the moment with matching tattoos alongside Wendy Choo.
  • What’s at stake: The NXT Women’s North American Championship, with Paxley looking to reclaim the belt in her first crack at it back.

NXT North American Championship: Myles Borne (c) vs. Tavion Heights

Two former allies settle a fractured friendship with a title in the middle of it.

  • The breakup: Borne and Heights rose together as members of the No Quarter Catch Crew and left the stable at the same time to chase singles runs.
  • The friction: Attempts to help each other in their respective pursuits drove a wedge between them and set them on a collision course.
  • What’s at stake: Borne’s NXT North American Championship, with the result likely closing the book on their partnership for good.

WWE Women’s Speed Championship: Wren Sinclair (c) vs. Arianna Grace

Sinclair defends the Speed Title against a challenger who punched her ticket through the tournament bracket.

  • The challenge: Grace earned the shot by winning the Women’s Speed Tournament, defeating Izzi Dame in the final on the June 23 NXT.
  • The wrinkle: A distraction from Shawn Spears helped Grace secure the deciding rollup, adding outside noise to her championship run.
  • What’s at stake: The WWE Women’s Speed Championship, contested under the format’s compressed time limit.

Singles Action: Tristan Angels vs. Shiloh Hill and Saquon Shugars vs. Dion Lennox

The undercard rounds out with two grudge matches built over recent weeks.

  • Angels vs. Hill: Hill is seeking payback after Angels jumped him following the Mr. NXT Pageant, and Hill went on to cost Angels his EVOLVE Title match against Aaron Rourke on the go-home show.
  • Shugars vs. Lennox: The two traded heated words on the go-home show, with Shugars and Lennox each promising to settle the score at the Bash.

How to Watch

  • Venue: WWE Performance Center, Orlando, Florida
  • Streaming: The CW Network and CW App (United States), Netflix (internationally)
