Paul Wight Names AEW Star With Most Untapped Potential

ByAndrew RavensProfessional Wrestling Journalist

Paul Wight says Satnam Singh is the most obvious AEW talent who has not yet reached his potential. Wight draws a direct comparison to his own early career mentorship under The Undertaker, arguing Singh needs the same kind of guidance around presence and intimidation.

A talent that’s not really being used yet to their capacity, Satnam Singh. That’s an easy one for me, that’s a direct line. When I first started, I had The Undertaker in the corner because I tagged with Taker when I first started in WWF. I could do the same thing with Satnam. That’s one of the things, because he’s such a good kid and a good guy, but he’s just a massive human being. Satnam’s huge. I’ve seen him bench pressing 500 pounds, he’s a monster. He just needs somebody to help him on presence.

Wight described a specific moment he pulled Singh aside to correct his approach.

I gave him grief one time because we were at a show somewhere and he flipped the referee the bird. I pulled him to the side like ‘What are you doing, flipping somebody off? You’re a giant, you don’t do that. This is all you need. You need to look at that referee and have that referee poop his pants.’

He traced the lesson back to the giants who shaped his own understanding of what it means to use size as a tool.

It’s tough when you’re this big and you’re also athletic, to remember how big you are and your presence. I take those same lessons that I got from Mark Calaway, that I got from Hulk about presence. Andre understood that, because Andre is the best ever. It took me a while, but I got it. So now hopefully I can save Satnam a little bit of time and headache and help him along the way. Wouldn’t it be nice?

Singh is a former NBA G League player and a two-time NBA draft pick who transitioned to professional wrestling. He stands 7 feet 2 inches tall and has been part of the AEW roster since 2022.
