The planned WWE SummerSlam card has been revealed, with the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reporting that the original lineup featured 10 matches, headlined by Cody Rhodes vs. CM Punk for the WWE Championship. It should be noted that Sami Zayn defends the WWE Title on Monday’s Raw against the winner of Rhodes vs. Jey Uso on tonight’s SmackDown.
Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley is currently out with a knee injury, and her status for the event is still up in the air. She was originally slated to defend the title against Alexa Bliss or Jacy Jayne at the event. The rest of the card, per the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, is as follows, should Ripley be able to compete:
- WWE Championship: Cody Rhodes vs. CM Punk
- World Heavyweight Championship: Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins
- WWE Women’s Championship: Rhea Ripley vs. Alexa Bliss or Jacy Jayne
- Women’s World Championship: Liv Morgan vs. IYO SKY
- Hell in a Cell: Oba Femi vs. Brock Lesnar
- Charlotte Flair vs. Jade Cargill
- WWE United States Championship: Trick Williams vs. Carmelo Hayes
- GUNTHER vs. Royce Keys
- WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship: Paige & Brie Bella vs. Fallon Henley & Lainey Reid
SummerSlam takes place August 1-2 at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.
