Roman Reigns Was Unhappy “Creatively” Before Heel Turn

Roman Reigns admitted he wasn’t satisfied with his character creatively on WWE television.

In a recent interview with Sam Roberts, Reigns admitted he was creatively unhappy. He cited the infamous dog-food segment he went through in 2019 and said it made him realize he wanted complete ownership after that.

“Before COVID hit and I left, I had dog food all… it was just one of those situations where I just wasn’t creatively… I just wasn’t in line. I didn’t like what I was doing. I didn’t like the way I was portrayed. It was just time to take complete ownership, and the proof is in the pudding.”

Reigns is next set to compete in a Champion vs. Champion match at WWE Crown Jewel 2026. He will battle Undisputed WWE Champion Sami Zayn for the Crown Jewel Championship on November 7 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

With the OTC amid a dominant run, it will be interesting to see if he can reign supreme at Crown Jewel this year.
