Seth Rollins Brings Up Roman Reigns’ Biggest Weakness Before WWE SummerSlam

ByBishal RoyProfessional Wrestling Journalist

Seth Rollins recently said that his SummerSlam clash with World Champion Roman Reigns feels different because, despite 14 years of shared history, this will only be their third singles premium live event match, and he has never lost one of the first two.

‘The Visionary’ broke down that rare history in a new interview, reminding fans that Reigns has yet to beat him one-on-one on the big stage.

Speaking with The Rich Eisen Show (interview with Brad Williams), Rollins agreed the buildup has been earned. “It’s different, right?” he said, before Williams noted the match feels like it has been building for years.

Rollins then laid out just how thin their singles resume actually is.

One-on-one, Roman and I have only had, I want to say this will be our third singles pay-per-view match ever,” he said, pointing out that Reigns still hasn’t beaten him in those matches.

Rollins’ Psychological Edge Over Roman Reigns

The former Shield brothers have crossed paths on pay-per-view only twice in singles competition, and Rollins won both.

We had one in 2022 at the Royal Rumble, which I won. Uh, and then we had one in 2016 at Money in the Bank, which I also won,” he recalled.

For Rollins, the scarcity of those meetings is the surprising part.

But for two guys who’ve been as prominently featured as we are in WWE for the last 14 years, to only have three is pretty, pretty wild, I would say,” he said.

Fans wanting the full breakdown can revisit their complete win/loss record ahead of SummerSlam 2026.

That history gives Rollins a real edge heading into the biggest event of the summer. Reigns has dominated WWE for years, but Rollins is the one opponent he has never fully shaken, and a third loss would make that ghost even harder to escape.

SummerSlam 2026 Match Set

WWE booked the bout on the June 29, 2026 episode of Raw, where Reigns accepted Rollins’ challenge after being reminded of their Shield past. Reigns walks in as World Heavyweight Champion, putting the title on the line against a man who owns two singles wins over him.

The match was made official on Raw, and the two have kept up a verbal war heading into the event, with Rollins recently taking shots at Reigns over his world title claims.
