Tommaso Ciampa is preparing for life after WWE.
The former NXT champion recently filed trademark for the terms 'Psycho Killer' and 'Psycho King' for use on various merchandise and 'entertainment in the nature of wrestling contests.'
These nicknames originate from Ciampa's heel run in NXT, which began with him turning on his partner Johnny Gargano at NXT TakeOver: Chicago in 2017. Their tag team run and the subsequent rivalry is considered to be one of the highlights of the Black & Gold era of the development brand.
The 40-year-old announced his departure from WWE on January 21, confirming that he will be leaving the promotion once his current deal expires.
The wrestling veteran did not reveal the exact date he will become a free agent. Tommaso Ciampa did confirm that he will be available for appearances, suggesting that he is not planning to sign a new contract with a different promotion immediately after his WWE departure.
Ciampa's release will mark the end of his 11-year WWE run as well as his partnership with Gargano. You can check out what the fellow DIY member said about his partner's announcement here.
