Tony Khan Paid For Will Ospreay’s Neck Surgery

Will Ospreay says Tony Khan paid the entire cost of his neck surgery.

Speaking in an AEW video, Ospreay described his reaction to seeing the bill and what the gesture means to him.

Tony’s paid for the entire thing, which is crazy. I saw that bill. Oh my God, man. It costs more than my house in England.

If you pay for that for my health, I’ll be a little soldier for him for the rest of my life.

Ospreay had double fusion surgery in September last year to repair two herniated discs that were pressing on his spinal cord, a problem he had been wrestling through for months. He has credited his surgeon, Dr. Wallace, and said that a decade ago the injury would have ended his career.

He returned at Revolution in March, six months after the operation, and wrestled Blake Christian on the March 18 Dynamite. He has since faced Jon Moxley at Dynasty and completed a New Japan tour, winning the NEVER Openweight Six-Man Tag Team Championship.

The recovery came with permanent changes to how he works. Ospreay has said his range of motion is limited and that he has dropped the shooting star press and other moves that require him to arch his neck.

Before the surgery he spoke to wrestlers who had been through it, including Adam Copeland, who has had three neck operations, along with Bryan Danielson and Kyle O’Reilly.

Ospreay challenges Kenny Omega for the AEW World Championship at All In on August 30 at Wembley Stadium.
