AEW has confirmed that Samoa Joe will defend the AEW World Championship in a three-way match against Swerve Strickland and Hangman Adam Page at Worlds End on December 27.
The championship bout was officially announced during AEW Collision Winter is Coming. Page declared his intentions to challenge the champion on Dynamite earlier in the week, while Strickland staked his claim following a victory over Josh Alexander on Collision.
Joe captured the title from Page in a brutal steel cage match at Full Gear on November 22, with Hook revealing himself as a member of The Opps by attacking Page with the championship belt. The pay-per-view ended with Swerve making a surprise return, clearing the ring of The Opps, and standing alongside his longtime rival Page to confront the new champion.
The three competitors previously collided at AEW Revolution 2024, where Joe retained by forcing Page to submit to the Coquina Clutch while Swerve was unable to make the save.
Women’s World Championship Match
Additionally, Kris Statlander will defend the AEW Women’s World Championship against Jamie Hayter at Worlds End. The match was set after the two teamed up on Collision to defeat the Sisters of Sin, with Hayter issuing the challenge backstage.
Statlander has held the title since All Out in September and has successfully defended against Toni Storm and Mercedes Mone. Hayter is a former Women’s Champion, having held the title from Full Gear 2022 to Double or Nothing 2023.
