Victoria has closed the door on a wrestling return for good.
Lisa Marie Varon, known to WWE fans as Victoria and to TNA audiences as Tara, confirmed during a WhatNot livestream on Friday that she is finished as an in-ring competitor. Asked directly about the possibility of another match, Varon left no room for interpretation.
“No, no. I retired. I retired,” Varon said. “My body hurts, you guys. I still do appearances, and WhatNot is my new favorite thing.”
Varon, who turned 55 in February, cited the lingering physical toll of a career that stretched across two decades and two major promotions.
A Retirement That Kept Getting Delayed
This is not the first time Varon has stepped away. She originally retired in 2019, wrestling a farewell match against Melina on the independent circuit for Masters of Ring Entertainment, where she won a title and was presented the belt by Terri Runnels.
The exit did not fully stick. Varon returned to WWE for the 2021 Women’s Royal Rumble, entering at number 10 and lasting 7:15 before Shayna Baszler eliminated her.
Her actual final bout came on January 26, 2023, when she made a surprise appearance for Impact Wrestling. Varon teamed with Gisele Shaw in an unsuccessful challenge for the Knockouts World Tag Team Championship against Jessicka and Taya Valkyrie.
Trailblazer’s Legacy And Current Ties
Varon is widely regarded as one of the wrestlers who helped bridge the “Diva” era and the modern women’s division, bringing a physical, character-driven style across her runs.
As Victoria she was a multiple-time WWE Women’s Champion who also held the Divas Championship. As Tara she captured the TNA Knockouts Championship on several occasions and won the Knockouts Tag Team Championship alongside Brooke Tessmacher.
She signed a WWE Legends contract in August 2024 and was inducted into the Women’s Wrestling Hall of Fame that same year.
WWE has kept her in the fold recently, inviting her to Survivor Series 2025 and including her in the WWE 2K26 roster.
Varon remains active outside the ring. She co-hosts the GAW (Grown Ass Women) TV web series with Mickie James and SoCal Val, works conventions, and stays connected with fans online.
Last October, she inducted James into the TNA Hall of Fame at Bound for Glory weekend, a role James specifically requested.
While the WWE Hall of Fame call has yet to come, James has been among the loudest voices arguing it is overdue. For now, Varon appears content to let the ring era close for good.
