Vince Russo Pitches Tony Khan on Creative Collab After Praise

ByMike ReichlinProfessional Wrestling Journalist

Vince Russo is making his move. After Tony Khan publicly praised Russo’s creative work on JCW Lunacy, the former WWE head writer took to X to turn that goodwill into a full-blown pitch for a creative partnership.

The exchange started when Jonathan Coachman, Russo’s co-host on the Coach & Bro podcast, extended an open invitation for Khan to appear on the show. Khan accepted, and in doing so offered unsolicited praise for Russo’s current booking in JCW, calling it “tremendous” and saying he enjoys it “very much.”

That was all Russo needed. In a post on X on March 30, he addressed Khan directly, asking for a follow back and suggesting the two talk creative, with a lofty goal in mind: “Let’s do something that will blow the WWE INTO OBLIVION!!!”

Russo closed by noting that while Khan has heard about him over the years, the two have never actually had the chance to get to know each other personally: “LET’s GIVE THEM SOMETHING TO TALK ABOUT!!!”

Whether Tony Khan takes him up on the offer remains to be seen, but it’s a notable moment given Russo’s historically critical stance toward modern wrestling booking, including AEW’s product.
