Will Ospreay has a match in mind if Ilja Dragunov really is coming to AEW.
Dave Meltzer reported this week that Dragunov has signed with the company and should start soon. Ospreay was asked about it by Jon Alba of Sports Illustrated and made no attempt to hide his interest.
The two have history without ever having wrestled.
Dragunov was someone that performed on wXw for a fair bit of time, and there have been shows that we’ve been on, we’ve been on the same shows together, but we have never shared a ring with one another.
He would like AEW to keep it that way for a while.
Hearing that there’s potential that he is coming in is exciting because I’m sure if you bring him in and you keep us on separate sides of the roster and build us both up, it could generally be like a big money-drawing singles match that could main event any show anywhere in the world.
Dragunov left WWE when his contract expired in August, with the two sides unable to agree on money. He held the NXT UK Championship, the NXT Championship and the WWE United States Championship across seven years there.
