WWE Raw Moves Up 2 Hours For Loaded Ottawa Show

ByMike ReichlinProfessional Wrestling Journalist

WWE Raw starts two hours earlier than usual next Monday. The August 24 show airs at 6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT from the Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa, Ontario, with Michael Cole confirming the change on commentary during last night’s broadcast.

The early start clears room for WWE to tape the August 28 SmackDown immediately afterward, part of a stretch that includes a second same-night double taping in Cleveland four days later. It also comes with one of the more stacked Raw lineups of the summer.

Lucha Bros Could Collide For The Title Shot

Penta takes on La Parka and Rey Fenix meets Dragon Lee in the semifinals of the tournament to crown Roman Reigns’ next World Heavyweight Championship challenger. Both matches were seeded on opposite sides of the bracket WWE revealed earlier this month, meaning wins by Penta and Fenix would send the newly reunited Lucha Bros into the August 31 final against each other. The winner gets Reigns on the September 14 Raw in Mexico City.

Elsewhere on the card, Stephanie Vaquer gets her first match since WrestleMania 42, facing Roxanne Perez of The Judgment Day. The match was set up after Perez, Raquel Rodriguez and Liv Morgan jumped Vaquer during last night’s opening segment, with Becky Lynch running in to even the numbers before Judgment Day stood tall. Vaquer only returned to television a few weeks ago after being written off by the same faction in April.

Oba Femi and Bron Breakker will also sign the contract for their Sunday Night’s Main Event showdown, which airs September 6 from State Farm Arena in Atlanta.
