WWE staff who travel to Saudi Arabia are asking questions about Crown Jewel, and they have not gotten answers.
The show is scheduled for Riyadh on November 7. WrestleVotes reports for Fightful Select that people who regularly make the trip have been asking internally whether the event will be changed, revised or rescheduled.
The concern is described as significant, both backstage and at WWE headquarters in Stamford. As of this writing, a source says the company has not formally addressed the situation with its staff.
The questions follow a September 15 update to the US State Department’s travel advisory for Saudi Arabia. The country sits at Level 3, which urges Americans to reconsider travel, and the area near the Yemen border carries a Level 4 do-not-travel designation.
WWE has given no public indication that the date is in doubt. WrestleVotes previously reported that November 7 is expected to hold regardless of where the show ends up, because the company is committed to ESPN for that slot.
The open question has not changed. It is whether WWE can get talent and staff into Saudi Arabia on that date.
