Powerhouse Hobbs might debut directly on the WWE main roster.
The former TNT Champion is believed to be on his way to WWE, after his deal with AEW expired earlier this week. Latest reports suggest that the company officials are so confident about landing him that they have already started making plans for his arrival.
According to Fightful Select, the expectation is that the heavyweight star will be undergoing a name change upon his WWE debut, though it could simply mean shortening his current ring name to just Hobbs.
The 34-year-old had been made 'huge' offer by Tony Khan's promotion to stay with the company, but he had made up his mind about leaving.
While it's unknown if WWE is matching the offer, the report suggests that there has been pitch for Powerhouse Hobbs to appear directly on the main roster, and he could join the SmackDown brand.
There is no word on when or how the company is planning to introduce Hobbs to WWE TV but with his contract expiration, he is free to make his debut as soon as this Friday's episode of the Blue Branded Show.
Hobbs is officially still the AEW Trios Champion with Samoa Joe and Katsuyori Shibata. You can check out what AEW is doing about that here.
