Carlos Silva has been named the new President of Anthem Sports Group, and will oversee the operations of TNA Wrestling going forward. In his role, Silva will answer directly to Anthem President and CEO Leonard Asper. In a statement, Silva shared his excitement for this new chapter.
“Anthem Sports Group’s diverse offerings represent a wide range of exciting opportunities for growth and development. TNA Wrestling, Invicta FC, and Fight Network are each poised to make a major impact in their respective arenas.”
Before joining Anthem, Silva has worked with several sports properties, including the World Series of Fighting/Professional Fighters League. Outside of the ring, he has worked for the Universal Sports Network, and WorldTeamTennis among other parties.
Silva’s appointment ends what has been a dramatic year for TNA Wrestling, both on and off-screen. In January, the company relaunched after years as Impact Wrestling, with the Hard to Kill pay-per-view being praised by fans. 2024 has also seen TNA embark on a partnership with WWE NXT which has seen a talent exchange across both sides.
Behind the cameras, Anthem’s termination of Scott D’Amore shortly after Hard to Kill was heavily criticized, as D’Amore had helped steer TNA through turbulent times. TNA’s roster even crafted a letter to Anthem, encouraging the company to reconsider, but to no avail. D’Amore, a veteran of wrestling for decades, was replaced by Anthem’s own President at the time Anthony Cicione, a move that only furthered tensions.
