Kevin Owens Reflects On Attacking Vince McMahon, Talks Working With Braun Strowman

2

Former WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens was interviewed by Inside the Ropes to talk about a wide range of topics. During the interview, he was asked about attacking WWE Chairman Vince McMahon on the September 12, 2017 episode of Smackdown Live.

“It was really surreal. And I don’t know if I will ever reach that kind of moment again.” Owens continued by stating that he has been in WWE for three years and done so much in that time. He thinks the moment with McMahon will probably be the pinnacle of it along with the Universal Title and wonder if this is as good as it gets for him. He doesn’t plan on it being that way but knows the attack on McMahon is “going to be hard to top.”

Owens also talked about feuding with Braun Strowman throughout 2018. He brought up how Strowman has been doing this for three years and had maybe five matches before he showed up at SummerSlam making his debut a couple of years ago. He thinks that he’s pretty incredible.

His progression has been unbelievable. So that’s been cool. But he’s still a 300-something pounds guy and six foot whatever he is. And whatever he does hurts.” Owens continued by stating that the feud was cool and seems like fans enjoyed it.

WWE’s YouTube channel released this video of Rollins sending a warning to Ambrose by stating that he has asked Ambrose to face him like a man for two weeks now to find out why he stabbed in the back. Thus, he vows to “beat those reasons out of him.”

Paul Heyman On Managing Brock Lesnar

Paul Heyman recently opened up on managing new WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar and leading the Original Midnight Express in WCW 30 years ago. His first post read, “30 years ago to the day, I led the Original Midnight Express onto #SuperStationTBS and debuted in #WCW. 30 years later, STILL ON TOP, as the #Advocate for the highest profile athlete in the sport, @WWE #UniversalChampion @BrockLesnar!”

In the main event, a match between Drew McIntyre and Kurt Angle took place that saw McIntyre win the match by submission after using the Ankle lock. After the show, McIntyre and Dolph Ziggler attacked Angle, which led to Braun Strowman coming out to make the save by attacking both Dolph and Drew. Here’s footage of the segment:

Renee Young Opens Up On Doing Commentary For WWE Crown Jewel

9

Renee Young has opened up on doing commentary for the controversial WWE Crown Jewel pay-per-view event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia at the King Fahd International Stadium on the WWE Network.

Unlike the Greatest Royal Rumble pay-per-view event in the country this past April, there was a female on-air talent working the broadcast. She joined Michael Cole and Corey Graves, which is the announce team for Monday Night RAW, on commentary for this latest event.

She reflected on the experience when she and Cole were recently interviewed on BBC Radio 5’s Live morning show. This led to her sharing what some of the fans in the country that attended the show told her at this event.

Young started off by saying that it was very cool to be a woman welcomed into Saudi Arabia to step into the announce booth and be part of the broadcast. She recounted that there were many men, women, children were coming up to her to let her known that this was a big moment of change and that there is a demand and a need for women to be performing in Saudi Arabia. She added, “They are asking for it, certainly.”

WWE Smackdown Live Preview (11/6)

0

WWE is back in Manchester tonight for Smackdown, 205 Live, and the Mixed Match Challenge. Only Smackdown will air today, however. No matches have been confirmed as of this writing, but several segments have been.

Shane McMahon and Paige Respond to Survivor Series Match-Ups

Last night on Raw, Constable Corbin announced that he would captain the Raw team at Survivor Series. Corbin won’t compete in the match but he did add Dolph Ziggler, Drew McIntyre, and Braun Strowman to the team. Tonight, expect Shane McMahon and Paige to likely announce a few participants for the Smackdown team.

Becky Lynch’s Message To Ronda Rousey

Ronda Rousey cut a promo on Becky Lynch last night on Raw. In two weeks, Lynch and Rousey will go one-on-one in a match which could easily (and arguably should) close the show even with Brock Lesnar vs AJ Styles on the card.

Becky Lynch will offer up her rebuttal to Rousey’s promo tonight.

Shane McMahon’s WWE World Cup Victory And Team Smackdown At Survivor Series

So, Shane McMahon is the best in the world. McMahon replaced the Miz in the finals of the WWE World Cup at Crown Jewel. He had also said if anyone from Smackdown loses in the finals they would be fired. Perhaps that means the Miz will be fired but that’s only speculation.

Tonight, Shane will let the WWE Universe know more about how his win in the World Cup will impact Smackdown moving forward.

AJ Styles Reacts To Rematch With Brock Lesnar

AJ Styles will face Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series in two weeks. It’s a rematch from last year when Styles won the title just days before the event. In fact, Styles defeated Jinder Mahal in Manchester (tonight’s host) for the title around this time last year.

Tonight, Styles will have a message for the man who re-gained the Universal Championship at Crown Jewel.

Hulk Hogan Responds To Rusev Wanting Him At WrestleMania 35

9

Hulk Hogan has responded to Rusev challenging him to a match at WrestleMania 35.

On Monday, the 65 year old wrestling icon fired off a tweet about wanting to get back under 300 pounds. Hogan said he was rewatching his appearance at Crown Jewel last week and feels it’s time to ‘get serious’ about his training and cut weight. Hogan wrote, “I looked huge, sole, jacked and my arms are bigger than most wrestlers legs. I don’t want to look like I can beat up the whole WWE roster anymore. Only Love HH”

Only love, brother. Rusev responded to Hogan. In response to Hogan saying he looks like he could beat up the entire WWE roster, Rusev said, “I think you should start with me!!!” and pointed out that WrestleMania 35 just so happens to fall on Rusev Day.

Hogan Responds to Rusev

Hogan upped the ante and told Rusev he’s got big plans for the Bulgarian Brute in 2019.

It seems like a long shot that WWE would book Hogan for a “match” at WrestleMania, even a 2-minute smoke-and-mirrors spot. However, you never know. WWE just headlined pay-per-view last weened involving 4 competitors aged 49 (Triple H), 51 (Kane) and 53 (The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels). Triple H and Roman Reigns most likely out of action for WrestleMania, so WWE can use all the star power they can get.

WrestleMania 35 takes place on Sunday, April 7th, 2019 from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Matt Jackson Says New Japan “Doesn’t Pay Enough” For Bucks To Be In World Tag League

0

Matt and Nick Jackson won’t be taking part in NJPW’s World Tag League this year. While the Young Bucks did move up to the heavyweight division this year, Matt Jackson says NJPW never offered a spot on the tour to them. He continued to say that even if they had been offered a spot, they likely would not have accepted.

Matt Jackson’s response to a fans’ question regarding the tour stated the team is too busy and NJPW doesn’t pay enough. “We’re too busy and they don’t pay enough.”

Matt Jackson would expand on his thoughts in a later tweet. “Truthfully we were never even offered the tour. But yes, it wouldn’t make sense to leave our families for close to 4 weeks during the holidays for many reasons; finances only being one amongst many.”

The World Tag League runs from November 15th to December 9th. The Bucks’ ROH schedule would allow them to compete on the tour. ROH’s Global Wars tour ends on November 11th and the promotion doesn’t have another show until Final Battle on December 15th.

The Bucks are, however, promoting their recently released children’s book. They announced a special event on November 15th at a Dave & Busters location to promote and sell the book.

Don Callis Comments On Returning To NJPW Commentary Position

0

NJPW announced recently that they have reached a deal with Don Callis for him to return on commentary. Callis and NJPW were seemingly on the outs not long after King of Pro Wrestling. With Callis a senior management member with Impact, he’s not always available for NJPW shows and it appeared the company was moving forward without him.

Callis addressed the situation on his “Killin the Town Podcast” released today.

Don Callis NJPW

“I am going back to New Japan,” Callis said. “So, for all the people out there who were claiming I’d been fired and that they didn’t want to use me anymore, that sort of thing. There were some people who said that and had all sorts of reasons for it that they would speculate about. As I said before, I’m busy enough that it’s not that I didn’t notice I wasn’t going back but I hadn’t given it a lot of thought because I’d been so busy.”

Callis would then continued to talk about NJPW reaching out to him to bring him back to the commentary booth.

“They reached out to me and we had a discussion,” Callis continued. “I don’t think I’m telling any tales out of school but they were quite intent on getting me back and I love the company and I love the boys in the back and I like the product. So, once we were able to resolve everything to mutual satisfaction I made a deal to go back.”

He then announced he would be back with the company November 17th and 18th for the shows in Tokyo.

Report: Tetsuya Naito Turned Down WWE Offer To Remain In NJPW

6

Tetsuya Naito says he has no interest in going to WWE. According to a recent report from Tokyo Sports, Naito turned down a WWE offer back in June after NJPW Dominion. The translated quotes come courtesy of NJPW commentator, Chris Charlton.

“I didn’t even give it thought,” Naito said. “This New Japan ring is already the world’s number 1 stage. The fans know this. That’s why I think we should focus on our home crowd before looking international.”

Naito would then turn the focus of the conversation to his rival and pending Wrestle Kingdom opponent, Chris Jericho.

“You should understand that I have no interest in ‘WWE Superstar’ Chris Jericho ring,” Naito continued. “What I want to do is get revenge for what happened in a New Japan ring, in a New Japan ring.”

Normally LIJ members have a contentious relationship with Tokyo Sports. Frequently in the past, Naito and other LIJ members have left the media outlet alone at the table to pay for their meals after an interview.

Tetsuya Naito Vs Chris Jericho – Wrestle Kingdom 13

Chris Jericho turned down Tetsuya Naito’s challenge for an Intercontinental Championship match after Power Struggle on Saturday. Despite this, NJPW officially announced the match during yesterday’s press conference.

Jericho then took to social media to remind NJPW he did not accept Naito’s challenge.

8 Takeaways From WWE RAW (11/5)

2

The November 5th, 2018 episode of WWE RAW was taped in Manchester, England. Here are 8 takeaways from this week’s show:

Baron Corbin Ran Away From Braun Strowman

Baron Corbin RAW 11 5

RAW kicked off with the entire locker room on the entrance ramp and security guards standing around the ring. RAW GM Baron Corbin came down to the ring with a big smile on his face. Corbin interfered in the Universal Championship match at WWE Crown Jewel and struck Braun Strowman with the title before the bell rang.

Corbin stated that we are coming up on the most exciting time of the year, Survivor Series. Baron hyped up Lesnar versus Styles, Rousey versus Lynch and the traditional tag matches at Survivor Series. Corbin announced that RAW Commissioner Stephanie McMahon will be on the show next week to address Shane McMahon winning the “Best in the World” trophy at Crown Jewel.

Baron also announced that he selected himself as the captain of RAW’s team even though he is not allowed to compete in the match. Corbin said that Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre are on team RAW. Corbin added that Braun Strowman will also be on the team and that he understands that Braun might be upset with him.

Corbin claimed that Strowman needs to learn to respect authority and once he gets that in his head, he will be the team member that they need at Survivor Series. Corbin then appointed Alexa Bliss as the captain of RAW’s women’s team. Bliss came down to the ring and thanked Corbin and claimed that he will soon become the permanent RAW GM.

Bliss noted that she will not be competing at Survivor Series and then boasted about being a 5-time champion. Alexa stated that she is a natural born leader and that the RAW women’s division can learn something from her. Bliss added that she will be watching the division’s matches and announced that the Riott Squad will face Natalya, Sasha Banks and Bayley in an Evolution rematch. Alexa stated that she could get used to this and then Kurt Angle interrupted.

Kurt Angle came down to the entrance ramp in his wrestling gear and said that competing in the World Cup lit a fire inside him. Angle stated that he wanted to compete again this year and that he led Team RAW to a victory last year. Corbin blasted Angle and told him to take a permanent vacation.

Angle proposed a match against Corbin and if he won he will become team captain Survivor Series. Corbin shook his head and Angle called him an embarrassment to RAW. Baron told Angle that he has his match tonight and Angle vowed to snap Corbin’s ankle in two. Braun Strowman then joined the party and marched towards the ring.

Strowman beat the hell out of the security team as the crowd chanted “get these hands!”. Strowman chased Corbin up the stage and then all the heels on the roster attacked him. A giant brawl broke out and Strowman escaped backstage to look for Corbin.

Ruby Riott Broke Jim Neidhart’s Glasses

Natalya RAW 11 5

The Riott Squad faced Natalya, Sasha Banks, and Bayley in a WWE Evolution rematch. The match started out in a brawl with Ruby going for the Riott Kick on Natalya. Natalya countered into the Sharpshooter into the middle of the ring but Logan broke it up with a kick to the face.

Back in the ring, Logan went for the cover but Natalya kicked out at two. Liv tagged in and booted Natalya in the back for a two count. Liv threw Natalya out of the ring once again as RAW went to a commercial break.

When RAW returned, Liv and Natalya were still in the ring and Morgan was in control. Liv bounced Natalya’s face off the turnbuckle and stomped on her in the corner of the ring. Natalya escaped and tried to get to the corner cor a tag but Liv prevented it. Natalya escaped again and tagged Sasha Banks in.

Sasha leaped off the ring apron and hit Logan with Double Knees. Banks quickly climbed to the top rope and connected with Double Knees onto Morgan. Sasha applied the Bank Statement on Morgan but Ruby Riott broke it up. Riott threw Bayley out of the ring and tagged into the match.

Banks kneed Ruby in the face and bounced Riott’s face off the top rope. Bayley tagged in and beat Ruby down before sending her out of the ring. Bayley followed it up with a Crossbody through the ropes onto Morgan and Logan. Ruby booted Bayley in the face and then rolled her into the ring.

Riott applied a Headlock in the middle of the ring as the crowd got behind Bayley. Logan tagged in and once again applied a Headlock to Bayley in the middle of the ring. Bayley battled to her feet but Logan launched her face-first into the ropes for a near fall. Morgan tagged in and hit a Clothesline for a near fall. Liv then threw Bayley out of the ring as RAW went to a commercial break.

Back from the break, Bayley was still trapped in the ring as Sarah Logan booted her in the face. Bayley caught Logan’s second attempt at a kick and knocked her down. Logan got up and elbowed Banks off the ring apron but Natalya quickly tagged in. Natalya hit Logan with a Clothesline and followed it up with a Belly to Back Suplex for a near fall.

Natalya locked in the Sharpshooter in the middle of the ring and Ruby Riott lifted up Natalya’s father’s sunglasses. Ruby Riott snapped them in half and stomped on them. Natalya released the hold and started crying in the middle of the ring. The Riott Squad then left the ring as Bayley and Sasha Banks huddled with Natalya ringside.

Rollins added that it is a slap in the face to everyone in the locker room and in the crowd tonight. Seth noted that Brock Lesnar is not here tonight and then turned his attention to Dean Ambrose.

Seth claimed that Ambrose didn’t have the guts to stand in the ring with him last week and is not going to call him out again tonight because it would be a waste of time. Rollins said that it was impossible for him to defend two titles at once. RAW GM Baron Corbin then appeared on the jumbotron as security was barricading the door behind him. Rusev Challenges Hulk Hogan To WrestleMania 35 Match

8

It didn’t take very long for a WWE Superstar to issue a challenge to wrestle WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan. This is after Hogan made his first appearance with the company in years once he appeared as the host of the Crown Jewel pay-per-view event last Friday at King Saud University Stadium in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. At the show, he cut a promo in the ring where he talked about being back in front of the WWE Universe.

The WWE Legend took to his official Twitter account where he talked about his WWE return at Crown Jewel by writing, “Ok, today is a new day. After seeing myself on Crown Jewel I have decided to get serious and get under 300lbs. I looked huge, swole, jacked and my arms are still bigger than most wrestlers legs. I don’t want to look like I can beat up the whole @WWE roster anymore. Only Love HH.”

This led to Rusev responding to that tweet by challenging Hogan to a match at WrestleMania 35.

He was reinstated into the WWE Hall of Fame earlier this year after Hogan was fired from WWE in the summer of 2015 after racially charged comments from a sex tape came to light.

Big Title Change At Monday’s WWE RAW TV Tapings (Spoilers)

1

There was one big title change at the set of TV tapings for this week’s episode of WWE RAW. The company held the tapings for the flagship show of the WWE on Monday in Manchester, England at the Manchester Arena. At the tapings, The Authors Of Pain defeated Seth Rollins in a handicap match to win the WWE RAW Tag Team Titles. Dean Ambrose, who was the previous tag team champion alongside Rollins, didn’t work the match. This marks the first reign for the AOP as the RAW Tag Team Champions and their first gold on the main roster.

Instead, after the match, Ambrose came out to the ring to cut a promo about Rollins wanting to know why he turned his back and attacked him. This led to him connecting with Dirty Deeds to Rollins.

Rollins and Ambrose won the tag team titles from Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre back on the October 22nd episode of RAW. After the match, Ambrose turned heel by attacking Rollins. He would later beat him down to end the show.

You can check out the full spoilers for the show here. WWE is expected to make the announcement of the title change after the match airs on the USA Network.

Taya Valkyrie Offers Advice To Victims Of Cyber-Bullying

0

Taya Valkyrie was the guest on the most recent edition of Impact Wrestling’s Press Pass. During the show, Taya was upfront regarding having been bullied in the past, both online in the lead-up to Bound For Glory and as a young person growing up in British Columbia.

I had the chance to ask Taya during the call if she has any advice for people who are going through something similar.

“You can dislike someone but you just don’t have to act like that,” Taya said. “We just don’t need that kind of attitude being spewed out in the universe when there are so many positive things happening.”

Taya then offered up words of support for anyone listening who might be dealing with bullying.

“To any child that’s listening or a fan of mine, or teenager, adult, someone who is older than me, hold your head up high,” Taya said. “At the end of the day, you are the only person in this entire world, this universe, that is like you. Not everybody is going to like you, not everybody is going to think you’re nice, not everybody is going to think you’re pretty or whatever it is. But there are a huge amount of people who do love you so keep your head up and move forward.”

Taya also mentioned she was bullied growing up.

“I was bullied a lot growing up,” Taya said. “So I have so much personal emotion and connection to that kind of stuff and I can’t imagine what it’s like now. I mean for me it’s hard, even as an adult.  So, as a child growing up in a world of social media and where everyone can hide behind a screen and a laptop and a keyboard and say whatever they want – for me, as a grown-ass woman, it was hard, so I don’t know.”

Taya Valkyrie can be seen on Wednesday nights with Lucha Underground and Thursday nights for Impact.

Highlight’s from PAC/Neville’s First Singles Match Since Leaving WWE

5

PAC has had his first singles match since leaving WWE. The former Neville faced Flamita in an International Special Singles Match for Dragon Gate’s ‘The Gate of Destiny’ event (11/04). PAC took the win after hitting his renamed ‘Black Arrow’ in around 18 minutes. Here’s some of the highlights from the incredible bout:

In other PAC/Neville related news Japan’s Dragon Gate promotion recently confirmed their new streaming service which featured PAC in a short promo package hyping the new over the top service alongside his RED stablemates. Fans will be able watch live/past shows for just over $13 a month. PAC made his return to the company earlier this year after leaving WWE’s 205 Live brand.

Revolution Pro (Rev Pro) has announced that PAC will be returning to the promotion. The former WWE Cruiserweight Champion will be appearing at the Portsmouth Guildhall on November 22nd. Tickets for the show are available to purchase via Rev Pro’s official website here.

The company has not yet announced PAC’s opponent for the show. The Portsmouth shows for Rev Pro are big events but not on the level of their York Hall extravaganzas. It is likely that PAC will be in a top feature match but not on the level that you would expect at a venue like York Hall. With Rev Pro’s New Japan links it would be ideal for PAC to take on one of the top NJPW stars but it is more likely that he faces a Rev Pro ‘homegrown’ talent such as El Phantasmo or Josh Bodom.

Kenny Omega Fires Shots at Hiroshi Tanahashi Following Power Struggle

0

Kenny Omega recently appeared at New Japan’s Power Struggle event in Osaka, Japan. The IWGP Heavyweight Champion teamed with Kota Ibushi to defeat Hiroshi Tanahashi and David Finlay.

Tanahashi won the G1 Climax tournament earlier this year and is set to face Omega for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship at Wrestle Kingdom on January 4th.

During a post match interview Omega made some scathing comments about Tanahashi. The Champion stated that “I’ve skipped out on this tour to focus on my other goals, my other dreams, my aspirations. People keep saying ‘Kenny, you’re a terrible champion. WHY aren’t you making the small shows?’ I’ll tell you why, I’m a business man at heart. When it comes to business, you have to make your challengers look credible. LOOK WHAT HAPPENED. I show up Tana, you get the big L. You look like a big L. Does he look like the challenger of the Tokyo Dome main event? No. I am trying to do you a service, I am trying to do this whole company a favour. I’m trying to allow you to pad your record and look really strong going into January 4th. But you call me out and you get the Golden Lovers.”

Chris Jericho “That’s the first Classic match that EVIL has ever had”

0

Chris Jericho returned to New Japan Pro Wrestling at the Power Struggle event in Osaka, Japan. The IWGP Intercontinental Champion defended successfully against EVIL after locking him in a Walls of Jericho that transitioned into a Liontamer.

When Jericho would not release the submission Tetsuya Naito appeared and forced Jericho to retreat to the back. Naito then issued a direct challenge to Y2J for the Intercontinental Championship.

Backstage Footage

NJPW recently released the backstage footage of Jericho after the bout. Y2J made some interesting comments regarding his opponent EVIL. Jericho said to the NJPW reporters “you see that? That’s what is called a ‘classic match.’ The first classic match that EVIL has ever had, and that’s just number 257 for me. Classic, after classic, after classic. They don’t call me the GOAT for nothing. If you don’t understand that because you’re Japanese it’s Greatest of All Time. It’s not a tag line, it’s not a catchphrase, it’s the truth. Find me somebody ANYWHERE in the world, in the history of the business that’s had more Intercontinental Championships than I have. Tell me one, can you do it? No. I know you all speak perfect English, but you can’t speak English now, you “can’t remember.”

Never Lost in New Japan to The Japanese

Jericho also made some interesting points about his record in New Japan, stating “The Gaijin won. It’s just gonna continue. I’ve NEVER lost a match in New Japan against the Japanese, ever. And I never will. Like I said, EVIL you’re a great performer. What a great match that was, one of the best that I’ve had in a long time. But I won, just like I said I would. I made you famous like I said I would. Naito, I made you famous in June. I made you famous in Korakuen Hall in January. You wanna be famous again? Find somebody else. NO REMATCH for Naito, EVER.”

NXT San Jose Live Event Next Week Changed To TV Taping

1

An NXT house show scheduled for next week in San Jose has been changed to a TV taping. The abrupt change with only 10 days before the show is an interesting development considering the taping will take place just two days before Takeover: Wargames on November 17th.

NXT announced the change earlier today through their social media channels:

“The stakes for the November 15th live event just got raised. NXTSanJose has just been confirmed as a TV Taping. Tickets are still available NOW!”

NXT Takeover: WarGames and NXT San Jose TV Tapings

A few matches have been confirmed for Takeover: WarGames so far on NXT programming.

  1. NXT World Championship
Tommaso Ciampa (c) vs Velveteen Dream
  2. WarGames Match
The Undisputed Era (Roderick Strong, Kyle O’Reilly, Bobby Fish, and Adam Cole) vs War Raiders, Ricochet, and Pete Dunne
  3. Aleister Black vs Johnny Gargano

Triple H spoke with ESPN earlier this year and mentioned he’s on the fence regarding NXT going longer than 1-hour.

“There are times when I look at NXT and part of me loves the hour format because everybody’s got busy lives,” Triple H said. “By the time you get to Wednesday … if you’re a huge fan, by the time you get to Wednesday, you’ve watched five hours of WWE, and then you’re watching NXT. And that’s if you didn’t watch ‘205 Live.’ There’s a lot out there. The great thing is they’re all slightly different, so there’s a little bit of something for everybody. I run into things, for me, when we’re scripting out weekly episodes of NXT, [where] it’s like, ‘Oh, man, I’d really like to debut this person, or do this thing with this new character, or help get a persona going or something [else], and I don’t have the room to do it. There’s a fine line between that and leaving them wanting more, so it’s a balance.”

Paige Comments On Female Superstars Not Being Told What To Wear

4

Paige responded to a fan on Twitter recently who said WWE makes their female talent wear revealing clothing. According to the Smackdown General Manager, WWE does not force or coerce female talent to wear anything they are uncomfortable with.

https://twitter.com/RealPaigeWWE/status/1059254486798082049?s=19

“Wrong. We dress the way we wanna dress. We aren’t coerced or forced into dressing like anything other than what we feel comfortable, confident and beautiful in. The men technically show more skin than the women… does that make them “whores” or?”

Paige’s Wrestling Career Moving Forward

Despite only being 26, WWE’s doctors have said they will no longer clear Paige to compete. She has suffered wear-and-tear damage to her shoulder and neck area that doctors are no longer comfortable allowing her back in the ring. Part of her history with injuries can be attributed to her having scoliosis. The condition causes a curving of the spine and while not serious, can be challenging for athletes.

Paige had the following to say regarding her retirement during a recent appearance on Lillian Garcia’s podcast.

“Everything I knew my entire life, like literally for 26 years all I’ve known is wrestling and for it to be ripped out of my hands just like that – and it’s no one’s fault, it just comes with the business sometimes, like spinal stenosis with Edge and Stone Cold, it happens. For it to be cut short, it’s devastating. It’s horrible. My dad was just crying and he was like, ‘Everything is gonna be OK sweetheart. You’re gonna do bigger things now. Don’t worry this isn’t the end of your story,’ and I was like, ‘Thank you dad.’ That same day, I was just devastated, Hunter called me to make sure I was OK. I went to work and Vince [McMahon] gave me a big hug and said, ‘We’ll look after you. We just want you to look after yourself first.’”
