Renee Young To Be Part Of Announce Team For WWE Crown Jewel

10

In an interesting move, it appears female WWE broadcaster Renee Young will work as a member of the Crown Jewel announce team this Friday. The news comes courtesy of Pro Wrestling Sheet

It was originally believed that no female talent including superstars or on-air talent wouldn’t be making the trip to Saudi Arabia for the event, but that has changed as WWE started working in September to make this happen after Young joined the announce team of the flagship show, Monday Night RAW. WWE has since received the green light to bring her out to the country.

As of this writing, WWE has yet to reveal the other members of the announce team but it will likely be called by Michael Cole and Corey Graves.

WWE presents the Crown Jewel pay-per-view event on November 2nd, 2018 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia at the King Saud University Stadium and will air on the WWE Network. WWE will be announcing more matches for this show in the coming days. Here is the updated card:

Tye Dillinger To Undergo Surgery

3

Unfortunately, Tye Dillinger will have to undergo surgery. The news was made by the WWE on Tuesday evening shortly before SmackDown Live went live on the USA Network in Atlanta, GA at the State Farm Arena where he was originally advertised to challenge Shinsuke Nakamura for the United States Championship on the blue branded show.

However, he suffered a hand injury and will require surgery. According to the statement that was posted on the official website of the company, the SmackDown star suffered the injury while competing at a live event on Monday night in Macon, GA at the Macon Centreplex. At this show, he lost to Shelton Benjamin in a singles match.

No other details were given on the nature of his injury or how long he is expected to be out of action for. The show must go on as WWE sent out this video that featured Mike Rome, who announced that R-Truth would replace Dillinger on SmackDown Live in order to challenge Nakamura for the United States Title. You can watch the video here:

When more details are provided by the WWE, we’ll pass that along. We wish Dillinger a speedy recovery.

WWE SmackDown Live Results (10/30)

2

The October 30th, 2018 edition of WWE SmackDown Live took place at the Philips Arena in Atlanta, GA, and is the go-home show for Crown Jewel on Friday.

– The show opens up with a promo for Jeff Hardy & Rey Mysterio vs. Randy Orton & The Miz in a tag match.

– WWE Champion AJ Styles comes out to the ring to kick off tonight’s show. AJ steps in the ring and gets on the mic, and he immediately calls out his Crown Jewel opponent Daniel Bryan. AJ says he has something to get off his chest, and he wants to say it to AJ’s face. Bryan comes out and gets in the ring. AJ says he feels the need to apologize for last week, and Bryan accepts the apology, but he says he doesn’t see AJ as a friend anymore. Bryan says all he sees is the WWE Championship, and that Title has a lot of meaning to him. AJ says the reason he’s apologizing is because the Pele kick he said was an accident last week, was on purpose. Bryan says he’s not shocked. Bryan says he’s not liar, and when he says he wants to hit AJ on purpose right now, he’s telling the truth. AJ says we don’t have to wait until Crown Jewel, because AJ will defend his Title right here and now in the ATL. AJ and Bryan look like they’re about to get into it, but then Shane McMahon comes out to interrupt. Shane says usually a match like this wouldn’t happen on TV, but since this is SmackDown and Shane’s back, he’s going to make it happen. Shane says AJ and Bryan’s Crown Jewel match for the WWE Title is going to happen right here and now, and that’s up next. Shane heads to the back as AJ and Bryan come nose to nose.

AJ Styles (c) vs. Daniel Bryan: AJ’s WWE Title is on the line in this one. The opening bell sounds and AJ and Daniel have some tests of strength early on. They trade slaps to the face, then Bryan backs AJ into the corner. Bryan starts working over AJ’s right shoulder. AJ fights back with elbows to the face and chops to the chest. They brawl out to ringside and Bryan starts selling a knee injury on the floor. Back in the ring, Bryan lays in some kicks in the corner and then throws the Champion down to the mat. Bryan throws a kick, but AJ catches it and takes Bryan down to the mat with authority. AJ starts working over Bryan’s knee now. AJ connects with some kicks in the corner and Bryan looks to be in trouble. AJ goes for the moonsault into a reverse DDT, but Bryan blocks it and hits some knees to the face. Bryan looks for the running knee to the face, but AJ shuts him down with a dropkick. Styles goes for the Phenomenal Forearm, but Bryan drops AJ on the top rope. Bryan takes AJ up to the very top rope for a back suplex, but AJ reverses it in mid-air and lands on top of Bryan. Bryan comes back and applies the Yes Lock, but AJ reaches the ropes to break it. AJ sends Bryan over the ropes out to ringside, and Bryan is still his knee on the floor. AJ picks up Bryan and slams him knee-first into the announce table. AJ misses a shot and Bryan pushes AJ into the ring steps. Back int he ring, Bryan hits the running knee strike in the corner, but Bryan is moving slow due to the knee injury. Bryan goes up top and looks for a Frankensteiner, but AJ stops him mid-move. It looks like AJ is going to go for the Styles Clash, but Bryan turns it around and hits the Frankensteiner after all. Bryan follows up with kicks until AJ blocks one and hits a dragon screw into the ropes. AJ looks for the Phenomenal Forearm, but Bryan dodges it and hits a version of a Michinoku Driver. Bryan follows up with the Yes Lock and AJ puts up a struggle. AJ picks up Bryan hits a version of the Styles Clash, and then he applies the Calf Crusher on Bryan’s bad knee. Bryan taps out and AJ wins.

Winner & still WWE Champion: AJ Styles

– AJ and Bryan shake hands after the match, but then Samoa Joe runs in out of nowhere and drops them from behind. Joe knocks Byan out of the ring, then puts AJ in the Coquina Clutch. Bryan comes over to break it up, but Joe takes out Byan’s bad knee and then puts him in the Clutch too. Joe holds up AJ’s Title belt and then leaves.

– In a pre-taped promo, Jeff Hardy talks about every risk he took in his career being like a brushstroke on the portrait of his life. He says at Crown Jewel he will prove he’s the best in the world.

– We go to a pre-taped promo from The Miz talking about his family and reality show, and then says he’s also the best WWE star in the world, and he’ll win the World Cup to prove it.

– Still to come: Jeff Hardy & Rey Mysterio vs. Randy Orton & The Miz

– Halloween decorations are being brought out around the ring. The broadcast team tells us a “Treat-Or-Street Fight” is up next.

– SmackDown GM Paige is backstage with Charlotte. Paige says she loves Charlotte’s match last night, and she asks Charlotte to be the captain of their women’s team at Survivor Series. Charlotte declines, but Paige tries to persuade her. Paige tells her to think about it, and Charlotte leaves.

Big E vs. Cesaro: This one is a Halloween themed street fight. The New Day comes out as The Brood for Halloween, complete with Gangrel’s old entrance music. The New Day, Sheamus, and Big Show are all at ringside. There are pumpkins and Halloween decorations everywhere, and they bring a table into the ring. Big E takes control early on after teeing off on Cesaro with a kendo stick. Sheamus runs in and attacks Big E, so Kofi and Xavier run in, and The Big Show follows. This one turns into an all-out brawl until Big Show grabs Woods and Kingston by the throats and throws them outside. Big Show throws Big E out next, then follows him out to ringside with Sheamus. After some brawling at ringside with pancakes and decorations, they throw Big E in the ring. Cesaro picks up Big E and slams him into a pile of pumpkins. Cesaro looks for a suplex through the table, but Big E reverses and suplexes Cesaro into the pumpkins now. Sheamus comes in and Big E slams him through the table. Kofi and Woods get into it with Big Show at ringside, and Kofi spits red liquid into Big Show’s face. Meanwhile in the ring, Cesaro looks for the Neutralizer on Big E, but Big E breaks free. Big E spits the red liquid in Cesaro’s face now, then hits the Big Ending for the three count.

Winner: Big E

– The New Day celebrates up the ramp as The Bar and Big Show recover around the ring.

– Shane McMahon is backstage with the participants of tonight’s main event: Rey, Hardy, Orton and Miz. The two teams briefly exchange words about tonight’s match and the World Cup at Crown Jewel. Shane says the worst thing that could happen to him, is if his sister Stephanie gets to brag that a RAW superstar won the World Cup and is the best in the world. Shane says that if a SmackDown star loses to a RAW star in the finals, they will no longer have a spot on SmackDown.

– AJ Styles approaches Paige in the back and demands a shot at Samoa Joe at Crown Jewel. Paige says she doesn’t want to reward Joe’s behavior with a match. AJ insists, so Paige books the match for Crown Jewel. AJ says Paige won’t regret it, and Joe will.

R-Truth vs. Shinsuke Nakamura: This one is a non-Title match. R-Truth and Carmella rap together before the match. Nakamura starts off strong off the opening bell, until Truth shuts him down with some shots to the face. Truth hits a spinning headscissor takedown into a legdrop, and Nakamura looks stunned. Truth hits a hip toss and then clotheslines Nakamura to the outside. Carmella gets in the ring and has a ‘dance break’ with Truth. Nakamura gets back in the ring and takes down Truth, then hits some knee drops for a two count. Nakamura misses a shot in the corner and Truth boots him in the face. Truth follows up with a series of clotheslines and a flying side kick. Truth bounces off the ropes for a flying forearm to the face for a two count. Truth misses an axe kick, and Nakamura answers with a spinning heel kick to the face. Truth misses a splash in the corner and Nakamura kicks him in the back of the head. – Women’s Champion Becky Lynch is out to the ring next. Becky gets on the mic and talks about her victory at Evolution, and says she is “the man” around here. Becky talks about what’s next for her, and she calls out Ronda Rousey. Becky says all of Ronda’s opponents were beaten before the matches even started, but Becky says she’s built differently.

– The broadcast team runs down the card for Crown Jewel, and we go to a video package looking at Braun Strowman vs. Brock Lesnar for the Universal Title.

– We go to Samoa Joe in his locker room, where he cuts a promo on AJ. He tells AJ that things aren’t safe for him now like he told his family. Joe says AJ is going to get choked out at Crown Jewel, and Joe will be raising the WWE Championship above his head, the end.

The Miz & Randy Orton vs. Rey Mysterio & Jeff Hardy: Jeff and Orton start this one off. Jeff looks for the Twist of Fate early on, but Miz runs in to break it up. Jeff drops Miz and then turns his attention back to Orton. Jeff climbs the turnbuckle, but Miz cheap-shots him while the ref is distracted by Orton. Orton stomps on Jeff on the mat now and then tags in THe Miz. The Miz beats on Jeff in the corner, and Orton gets in some cheap-shots. Orton tags back in and elbows Hardy across the throat on the apron. Orton chokes Jeff on the rope and then stomps on him. Jeff starts to fight back, but Orton hits a thumb to the eye and then a dropkick. Jeff finally fights off Orton, and Miz and Rey get the tags. Rey cleans house and hits a tornado DDT on Miz for a two count. Miz fights back and looks for a boot to the face, but Rey dodges it. Miz catches him and looks for a facebuster, but Rey avoids that too and tags Jeff back in. Rey leaps off of Jeff and hits a hurricanrana on Miz, then Jeff leaps off of Rey’s back for a version of the Poetry In Motion. Rey hits the 619, and then Jeff hits the Swanton Bomb for the three count.

Winners: Rey Mysterio and Jeff Hardy

– Immediately after the match, Orton gets back in the ring and hits an RKO out of nowhere on Jeff. Rey goes after Orton, and Orton hits an RKO on him too. The Miz finally gets to his feet, and Orton hits the RKO on him too. Orton poses on the turnbuckle as SmackDown goes off the air.

First Match Confirmed for PROGRESS Chapter 78 ’24 Hour Progress People’

0

PROGRESS Wrestling has announced a top international bout for Chapter 78. wXw Unified Champion Ilja Dragunov will be heading to the O2 Ritz on November 11th to take on ‘The Product’ David Starr.

This will be Dragunov’s second bout for the UK promotion. Former promoter of Westside Xtreme Wrestling (wXw) Christian Michael Jakobi appeared during PROGRESS Wrestling’s Super Strong Style 16 event earlier this year and challenged the reigning WWE UK Champion Pete Dunne to a bout against the wXw World United Heavyweight Champion. This match took place at Wembley Arena and Dunne was victorious via submission.

Dragunov became the wXw Champion during the company’s 16 Carat Gold 2018 event back in March of this year, he defeated then Champion John Klinger and WWE linked star WALTER in an incredible bout that headlined day two of the tournament. This marked the return of Dragunov to the company and he received a thunderous reception from the wXw fanbase.
David Starr is one of the most in demand independent stars in the world. ‘The Product’ has been appearing for PROGRESS more frequently this year and had a standout bout against WALTER in Manchester earlier this year. With NXT UK taking off PROGRESS may be looking to established independent stars going forward, no two are more exciting than Starr and Dragunov.

Triple H Gives High Praise To 205 Live Star, Vince McMahon Makes The ‘Variety 500’

Triple H Gives High Praise To 205 Live Star

Buddy Murphy beat Cedric Alexander to win the Cruiserweight Title at the WWE Super Show-Down pay-per-view event at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in Melbourne, Australia on the WWE Network.

As a result of this win, it marked the first reign as WWE Cruiserweight Champion for Murphy and his first title win on the main roster. Murphy reinvented himself when placed on the 205 Live brand that features all cruiserweight stars after a successful run in NXT.

Triple H recently gave him some high praise on Twitter by writing the following, “A former @WWENXT Tag Team Champion, @WWE_Murphy came to #205Live with one goal in mind…show everyone he was a force in a @WWE ring who could succeed on his own…and at #WWESSD, in front of 70,000 people in his hometown of @Melbourne, Australia, he did just that.”

Vince McMahon Makes The ‘Variety 500’

WWE CEO & Chairman Vince McMahon made Variety’s “Variety 500” list of 2018, which puts him among the likes of Jeff Bezos, Drake, and 497 moguls and influencers. He was last seen on WWE television at SmackDown 1000 where he appeared in a segment with Stephanie and Shane McMahon as well as Carmella and R-Truth.

Ronda Rousey Talks WWE Progression, Advice She Would Give Her Younger Self

1

Ronda Rousey spoke to People Magazine about the importance of Sunday’s (October 28, 2018) WWE Evolution pay-per-view event in Long Island, New York at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum on the WWE Network. The WWE RAW Women’s Champion successfully retained her title against Nikki Bella in the main event.

During this interview, she spoke about her WWE progression and Evolution as she stated that this move from MMA is different as she’s able to enjoy the process of it instead of enjoying her MMA career in hindsight.

“It’s new for me from being an Olympian and a fighter from having this tunnel focus and not being able to think about anything else. I would feel myself becoming a smaller and smaller fraction of my personality as the event came closer because as a survival trait you have to. I don’t really feel like I’m in fight or flight mode all the time. I’m ready to fight but I’m happy at all time and relaxed at all times. It’s pretty different for me to be able to relax and be in a high pressure situation at the same time.”

The former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion also was asked about advice that she would give her younger self, which she said that she would want herself to know that she’s beautiful and everything is going to be okay as long as she continues to work hard.

“I don’t think I’d want to tell her that all of her dreams are going to come true because I think the risk of failure is what makes me work so hard.”

Doug Williams Heading to NOAH for Final Japanese Bout

0

Pro Wrestling NOAH has announced that Doug Williams will be heading to the promotion for one final bout. The British wrestling legend appeared in a retirement bout for PROGRESS at Wembley Arena back in September.

Williams spoke to SportBible before the retirement bout against Trent Seven and made these comments:

“It was more their decision than mine,” Williams said. “They approached me with doing a different kind of storyline, which was a disgruntled veteran that was bitter about the new guys taking over. But I switched it on them and said I’m thinking about retiring next year anyway, why don’t we do a storyline that could culminate in that possibly happening?”

Williams will be taking part in a Special single match against Ogawa Yoshinari. The bout will be taking place on December 16th at Yokohama Bunka Gymnasium. This will be Doug’s first bout in NOAH in around a decade.

Doug Williams’ 25-Year Career

Williams started working as a teenager in the 90s with NWA UK Hammerlock. He was then a member of the Ring of Honor roster started their first year in 2002. He would remain with the promotion until 2007.

By 2009, he had already appeared with Impact Wrestling a few times. The promotion would then make the UK a bigger priority and Williams was cast in the British Invasion faction.

Earlier this month, Williams had a chance to earn an NWA World Heavyweight Championship match against Cody but lost to Nick Aldis.

NXT Superstar Returning to wXw for One Night Only

0

German based promotion wXw has announced that Axel Dieter Jr will be returning for one night only. The former Ringkampf stable member will be joining the 18th Anniversary show on December 22nd in Oberhausen.

Dieter Jr left wXw back in April of 2017. The German Superstar made his way to NXT but as of yet has not been heavily featured on the WWE Network programme. Dieter Jr finally made his NXT debut in August of this year in a losing effort against Keith Lee.

As well as his time in wXw, Dieter Jr had an impressive run for the UK’s PROGRESS promotion. Bouts against The London Riots, The South Pacific Power Trip (TK Cooper and Travis Banks) and The Hunter Brothers alongside WALTER gained him a strong following. Dieter Jr also faced British Strong Style (Pete Dunne, Trent Seven and Tyler Bate) alongside Timothy Thatcher and WALTER.

Axel’s opponent has not yet been confirmed for the show. A headline grabber against one of his former Ringkampf stablemates could be on the cards. If wXw do decide to go down this route then a match against WALTER or Timothy Thatcher could be a potential match of the year candidate. We’ll update as and when wXw confirm Dieter’s involvement this December.

Jim Ross Calls WWE Treatment Of Rey Mysterio “Embarrassing” On Jericho Cruise (Video)

6

WWE is said to have attempted to stop Rey Mysterio from appearing on the Chris Jericho Rock N Rager at Sea. The ongoing cruise docks back into Miami tomorrow. Mysterio has been a guest on the cruise but has not competed or performed. After the cruise, Mysterio will head to Saudi Arabia to perform at Crown Jewel with WWE.

“Chris is here bringing brands together, that stuff that’s going on is embarrassing…somebody along the way is going to create another company and they won’t have to worry about that bullsh**,” Ross said on the cruise.

The following video from a Q&A session on the cruise features Jim Ross calling WWE’s attempt to stop Mysterio from going on the cruise as “embarrassing.”

Jim Ross on WWE Trying To Prevent Rey Mysterio From Appearing On Chris Jericho’s Rock N Rager At Sea

Jim Ross is no stranger to mistreatment from the WWE. He’s been fired from the company 3x already after all. Ross has made no secret of the fact that he believes members of the Elite will not be at the Madison Square Garden show in April and that things in 2019 could get interesting.

“As I said early on, the card for the Ring of Honor Madison Square Garden Show, with New Japan, will probably look entirely different then, compared to what one would assume it look like if it was booked today,” Ross said on his podcast two weeks ago. “I think there’s gonna be a lot of movement with some of the biggest stars in the game.”

Stephanie McMahon Wants Serena Williams In WWE

5

Stephanie McMahon is a fan of Tennis star, Serena Williams. So much so, she’s told media outlets she wants to bring Williams into WWE.

McMahon spoke with the Sun in the UK recently and indicated the 37-year-old Williams would make a good addition to the women’s evolution in the company.

“Serena!” McMahon answered enthusiastically. “I want Serena. She’s awesome.”

The last time Stephanie McMahon made public comments in regards to a famous female athlete outside WWE, the person’s name was Ronda Rousey.

Stephanie McMahon on Serena Williams

Stephanie has been a fan of Serena Williams for some time. Earlier this year, she Tweeted about having watched a documentary on her.

McMahon continued to talk about the changes her and her husband have brought to women’s wrestling in recent years.

“We started training our woman the same as the men and hired our first-ever female coach.”

The coach Stephanie is referring to is Sara Del Rey. Real name Sara Ann Amato, she has been coaching at the PC since 2012.

“They started given our woman the same match time and opportunity at live events, which like anything else, the more reps you do the better you become.”

“So everyone had an even playing field and it made all the difference.”

MLW Boss Confirms Open Borders Relationship With Impact, Plans Sushi Dinner With Top Impact Official

0

Major League Wrestling CEO Court Bauer took to Twitter this week to address two topics related to MLW: his relationship with Impact Wrestling and the possibility of MLW promoting its first live pay-per-view.

MLW & Impact Wrestling

Apparently there have been some fans speculating that the relationship between Major League Wrestling and Impact Wrestling is strained. It’s actually quite the contrary. The two promotions have somewhat of an “open borders” relationship – utilizing some of the same talent (Pentagon Jr., Rey Fenix, Sami Callihan, etc.) and running shows in the same venues (such as NYC’s Melrose Ballroom).

Bauer says it’s “beyond ridiculous” that certain people are trying to portray MLW & Impact’s relationship as negative. In fact, Bauer and Impact Wrestling official Sunjay Dutt appear to be making plans to get dinner together.

MLW’s Stance on Live Pay-Per-View Events

Earlier this week, FITE.TV announced that MLW’s weekly television show MLW Fusion will begin airing for free on the over-the-top streaming service.

New episodes of MLW Fusion will premiere on beIN SPORTS Friday nights at 8pm (Eastern). Those shows will continue to be uploaded to YouTube Saturday nights at 6:05pm (Eastern) and will be added to FITE.TV Tuesday nights at 8pm (Eastern).

With MLW joining the FITE family, a few fans have speculated if this is the first step towards MLW airing live pay-per-view events. Bauer says that there are currently no plans to get into the live pay-per-view game. For now, MLW will stick to what’s working for them and the fans.

Mark Henry Reacts To John Cena Not Working Crown Jewel, Defends WWE From Criticism

17

Mark Henry recently did an interview with TMZ where he talked about WWE going through with their Crown Jewel event this Friday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia at the King Saud University Stadium that will air on the WWE Network despite the public backlash of them doing so due to the recent controversial incident involving the Saudi government.

It was revealed on Monday that Cena had been pulled from the Crown Jewel event after WWE announced that Cena would be featured in the World Cup tournament just a few weeks ago. It has since been revealed that his replacement would be Bobby Lashley.

According to Henry, he would never tell anyone that they’re making the wrong call but he wouldn’t have done that if he was in the shoes of Cena. “I wouldn’t ever say that person is making the wrong decision. I’d say, that’s not the decision I’d make. I would stand by my guns and do what’s right for business.”

Although Henry is not currently scheduled to go to Saudi Arabia, he made it known in this interview that if he were asked then he would go. He also defended WWE Chairman Vince McMahon for making the call to go to the country to hold this show even if it’s not a popular decision in the public eye.

“I’m a firm believer in not leaving people out to dry,” … Henry says, “Our fans, they wanna see you. Give our fans what they want. The WWE is just 1 business. There’s hundreds of thousands of businesses doing business internationally. Why pick on one?”

Henry’s last match came at the Greatest Royal Rumble event which just so happened to be in Saudi Arabia.

Smackdown 10/30 Preview: Go-Home Show Before Crown Jewel

1

Smackdown will head to Atlanta, GA tonight. The go-home show before Friday’s Crown Jewel event will take place inside the Philips Arena.

With just days left before the scheduled WWE Championship match between Daniel Bryan and AJ Styles, there are rumors Bryan will not travel to Saudi Arabia. Similarly, John Cena’s role in the upcoming show was written out last night on Raw likely due to his refusal to participate in the event. Cena was replaced by Bobby Lashley in the WWE World Cup.

Smackdown 10/30 Preview

AJ Styles To Confront Daniel Bryan

The real story behind what Daniel Bryan says to AJ Styles tonight on Smackdown is far more interesting than the fictional one. If Bryan has said he won’t go to Saudi Arabia for Crown Jewel what does that mean for the WWE Championship match scheduled for the event? Also, what does it mean for Bryan and WWE moving forward?

In storyline, Bryan will be confronting AJ about the two tag matches the pair have lost together to the Usos. In particular, Bryan may feel AJ took an opportunity to “accidentally” nail his upcoming challengers with some pre-emptive strikes.

We will start getting some answers to those questions tonight during this segment.

Becky Lynch To Prepare For Ronda Rousey

Last night on Raw it was revealed that it will be Raw Champion vs Smackdown Champion at Survivor Series this year. That means Becky Lynch and Ronda Rousey will be facing each other in single’s competition. Lynch sent out the following in regards to Rousey’s performance yesterday:

https://twitter.com/BeckyLynchWWE/status/1056890653374853120?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1056890653374853120&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fs46315.p1736.sites.pressdns.com%2Fbecky-lynch-takes-shot-at-ronda-rouseys-evolution-performance%2F

Shinsuke Nakamura (c) vs Tye Dillinger – United States Championship Match

WWE appears to be going with the same format for Survivor Series this year that they used in 2017. Brand champions will collide when Ronda Rousey takes on Becky Lynch so the winner of this match could likely take on Seth Rollins at Survivor Series.

Dillinger has had his issues with Randy Orton as of late, which could factor into things tonight. Orton does seem to show up during Nakamura’s title defenses.

The Bar vs New Day – Trick Or Street Fight

It’s Halloween so somebody is taking part in a Trick Or Street fight. One member of the New Day will take on one member of the Bar in such a match tonight. The Bar will defend their newly won Smackdown Tag Team Championships against New Day on Friday at Crown Jewel.

World Cup Preview Segment

There will be a World Cup preview segment of some kind taking place tonight. Last night on Raw, WWE announced the brackets for the tournament to determine the Best in the World.

From the Smackdown side of the brackets, Rey Mysterio will take on Randy Orton and the Miz will face Jeff Hardy.

Daniel Bryan Removed From Crown Jewel In Saudi Arabia

23

Daniel Bryan has been removed from the scheduled Crown Jewel event in Saudi Arabia on Friday. The news was first reported by Robbie Fox of Barstool Sports. His absence from the show will be addressed on tonight’s Smackdown. The outlet has been reporting that both John Cena and Bryan were doubtful for the show for the last week.

Cena was officially removed from the event last night on Raw. Constable Corbin replaced him in the World Cup with Bobby Lashley, who just lost via DQ to Finn Balor.

Daniel Bryan vs AJ Styles at the WWE Performance Center?

WWE has been aware of Daniel Bryan’s unwillingness to participate in Crown Jewel since last week. According to a report at PWInsider, there were discussions for Daniel Bryan to wrestle WWE Champion AJ Styles at the Performance Center in Orlando and for that match to air during the crown Jewel broadcast. That plan never came to fruition.

Another scenario being discussed is for Bryan vs. Styles to take place at tonight’s SmackDown tapings. Rusev’s name has apparently been mentioned as a possible challenger for Styles at Crown Jewel.

Tonight’s episode of Smackdown takes place inside the Philips Arena in Atlanta, GA. In addition to the Bryan and Styles segment, Shinsuke Nakamura will face Tye Dillinger with the United States title on the line.

EVIL On Chris Jericho: “As A Wrestler, He’s Done”

2

Evil isn’t too intimidated about taking on Chris Jericho on Saturday. The LIJ member will be looking to win the IWGP Intercontinental Championship for the second time when he takes on Jericho at Power Struggle in Osaka.

NJPW1972.com sat down with Evil for an interview recently.

“Jericho’s undeniably a big name,” Evil said. “But he’s a big name. As a wrestler he’s done. A faded superstar is still a ‘superstar’ I guess.”

EVIL on Chris Jericho

Jericho has said that by facing him, Evil will become a star. Evil disputes this, however.

“Jericho’s going round saying ‘by facing me you’ll become famous’ ‘you’ll be a star’ ‘your career will skyrocket just by sharing a ring with me’,” Evil continued. “Ok fine. Here’s what I’ll do. I’ll take everything you’ve done, all you’ve achieved, everybody you’ve beaten and use that to make you the biggest stepping stone you can imagine. And, as I step on you, I’ll plunge you into darkness!”

Evil called out Jericho not long after Jericho took the title from Tetsuya Naito at Dominion in Osaka back in June. Jericho then jumped Evil before he was able to take on Zack Sabre Jr at King of Pro Wrestling. Saturday will be Jericho’s first attempted title defense of the belt.

Kurt Angle On Winning The Crown Jewel World Cup

0

While Kurt Angle was not present at this week’s episode of Raw, the General Manager appeared in a video package where he talked about the upcoming Crown Jewel event.

Angle said that he has heard people talking about how Kurt must be out of his mind if he thinks he is going to win the World Cup and recalled his previous achievements:

“Well, to those who say that. Was I out of my mind when I outlasted the competition and won the 2000 King of the Ring? Was I out of my mind when I won the WWE Championship in my rookie year? Was I out of my mind when I won an Olympic gold medal with a broken freaking neck?

Maybe I was. But I’ll tell you this. Winning the WWE World Cup would mean more to me now than anything I’ve ever accomplished. So, Seth Rollins, Bobby Lashley, and my first round opponent, Dolph Ziggler, you better be ready.

Because I’m not coming to Crown Jewel to prove that I have one more match. I’m coming to Crown Jewel to prove that once again, I am the best in the world. It’s true, it’s damn true.” (transcription credit: SEScoops.com)

Roman Reigns Backstage At Raw, Superstars React To Evolution

3

Roman Reigns Backstage At Raw

Roman Reigns was backstage at this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw from Charlotte, NC, after relinquishing the Universal Championship on last week’s episode of the show, according to WrestlingInc.

Though it appears that there were no plans of including him into the show as the site reports that the former Champion had left the arena almost an hour before the episode went on air.

No word yet on if Reigns was just visiting or if he was there to shoot some material but both are possible and we’ll keep you posted if any more details related to his visit comes to light.

Superstars React To Evolution

Despite not having much hype, Sunday’s Evolution PPV was highly praised by the fans online and some even called it the best WWE PPV of 2018.

On this week’s episode of Raw, Charly Caruso interviewed stars from the Brand backstage and asked their opinion on the company’s first ever all women PPV.

After the show, WWE posted the video of it from their official YouTube account. Below is the video of various WWE Superstars like Dolph Ziggler, Seth Rollins, the Riott Squad and more reacting to the Evolution PPV and praising the performance of the female stars:

Nia Jax On Her Tribute To Roman Reigns At Evolution, Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman Team Up After Raw

Nia Jax On Her Tribute To Roman Reigns At Evolution

We noted before how the Usos paid a tribute to Roman Reigns on SmackDown last week. Both Nia Jax and Tamina Snuka did something similar during Evolution.

Both were part of the Evolution Battle Royale. During the match, they did Roman’s signature ‘howl’ gesture as a tribute to the former Universal Champion:

After the show, Nia was interviewed backstage and talking about the spot, she said that Reigns’ battle with Leukemia wasn’t the only reason for this tribute. According to Nia Jax it was also a gesture of appreciation for always supporting the female wrestlers:

Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman Team Up After Raw

Both Intercontinental Champion Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman were involved in different segments during the latest episode of Raw. While they didn’t wrestle on the show, the two Raw Stars teamed up after cameras stopped rolling.

They both faced Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre in the dark main event and defeated the former Tag Champs to send the crowd home happy.

Braun Strowman will fight Brock Lesnar for the vacant Universal Championship at the upcoming Crown Jewel PPV while Seth Rollins will compete in the World Cup Tournament during the show

Championship Match, Street Fight Announced For SmackDown

4

WWE has announced a number of exciting matches and segments for this week’s episode of SmackDown Live, including a title bout for the show.

The first match which has been announced will see a member of New Day taking on a member of the newly formed alliance between the Bar and The Big Show.

This bout is announced to be a Trick or Street Fight, and WWE is teasing that the participants of this fight will be wearing Halloween costumes.

The second match which General Manager Paige announced on Twitter will see Tye Dillinger challenging the United States Champion Shinsuke Nakamura for his title:

https://twitter.com/RealPaigeWWE/status/1057060763196637189

Though the most interesting thing that has been announced for the show is a confrontation angle between AJ Styles and Daniel Bryan ahead of their match at Crown Jewel.

We noted before how Bryan and John Cena were two of the top stars who were originally refusing to work the event in light of the controversy surrounding the missing journalist.

WWE confirmed that John will not be at the show during the latest episode of Raw so it’d be interesting to see if they were at least able to convince Daniel to wrestle at the event.

If not then we can expect to see an angle similar to the Bobby Lashley segment on Raw, announcing a replacement for the former World Champion.

Both ways it will be interesting to see what decision the company has made and we’ll have to tune in to SmackDown tonight to find out.

WWE Nixes Big Ronda Rousey-Becky Lynch Angle?

2

Both SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch and Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey were successful in defending their championships at the Evolution PPV.

After the show WWE announced that these two will now face each other at the upcoming Survivor Series PPV and posted a confrontation video too, but it appears that they originally had a different plan for the angle.

After last night’s Evolution PPV concluded, WWE.com published an article announcing their upcoming match. Interestingly, this press release mentioned a physical altercation between the two, that never took place:

“However, the Rowdy titleholder’s celebration was short-lived; just moments after she and Becky stood triumphantly side-by-side along with the rest of the female Superstars in the culmination of the monumental event, The Irish Lass Kicker unleashed a vicious assault on her fellow champion backstage.”

It’s unclear whether this altercation was expected to happen during the closing segment of Evolution where all women came up on the stage or during the after show interview where Becky confronted the former UFC Star:

Though this article makes it seem like the altercation was nixed at the last minute. Since we know Vince McMahon was running the show from gorrilla position, it’s possible that he made the decision on the fly.

Becky Lynch will now face Ronda Rousey in a one on one match at the upcoming Survivor Series PPV on November 18th.
