Jim Neidhart Has Passed Away

We are saddened to report the passing of wrestling legend Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart. He was 63 years old. Jim Neidhart was the father of WWE Superstar Natalya. He was a 2-time WWF tag team champion as part of the Hart Foundation with Bret Hart.

Jim Neidhart earned the “Anvil” nickname in high school by setting records in shot put. He would later play in the National Football League (NFL) with the Oakland Raiders and Dallas Cowboys. In 1979, Neidhart became a professional wrestler after undergoing his training at the hands of Stu Hart in the legendary Dungeon.

After some time in Japan, Neidhart signed on with the WWF in 1985 and was paired with a young Bret “The Hitman” Hart in the Hart Foundation tag team. Known by their bright pink ring gear, the Hart Foundation became two-time WWF Tag Team Champions.

When Bret began his singles career, Neidhart stuck with him and eventually Brian Pillman, The British Bulldog Davey Boy Smith and Bret’s younger brother Owen joined the stable and the Hart Foundation became one of the premiere groups in wrestling leading into the Attitude Era.

Later years saw Neidhart struggle with his health and personal problems. He was arrested in 2010 and charged with possession of controlled substances. He also attended two stints in WWE-sponsored rehab and was last seen on the reality show Total Divas with his daughter, WWE Superstar Natalya.

We send our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart.

SmackDown 1,000 Details Announced

WWE has announced preliminary information regarding the SmackDown 1,000 special that is coming up in a matter of months.

The historic 1,000 episode of SmackDown Live takes place on Tuesday, October 16th from Washington, D.C. at the Capital One Arena. No further details have been announced at this time. That said, you can expect to see a stacked show with cameos from SmackDown legends.

WWE Chairman Vince McMahon was quoted in the announcement. “One thousand episodes is a tremendous milestone reinforcing the longevity and popularity of WWE,” he said. “But it’s only the beginning, and the best is yet to come for SmackDown.”

WWE is touting that SmackDown helped ‘launch the careers’ of ‘pop-culture icons’ such as The Rock, Steve Austin, The Undertaker, John Cena, Triple H and the Bella Twins. Most of the names on that list were wrestling long before the creation of SmackDown, but that’s only a minor detail.

Tickets for SmackDown 1,000 will be available this Friday morning (8/17) at Ticketmaster, the Capital One Arena box office or by calling 1-800-745-3000.

WWE SmackDown premiered back in 1999 at the height of WWE’s Attitude Era. The show averages approximately 2.9 million viewers on the USA Network. It is also one of the longest running episodic shows in television history.

SmackDown Live moves to the FOX broadcast network in October 2019. That deal with Fox Sports will generate more than $1 billion for WWE over a 5-year period.

Pentagon Jr vs. LA Park Announced For MLW War Games

Major League Wrestling is stacking the deck for the upcoming WAR GAMES event from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. On Monday morning, MLW announced that legendary luchador LA Park will square off against Pentagon Jr. in a ‘Mexican Massacre’ at the September 6th FUSION taping from the War Memorial Auditorium. LA Park will be presented by Salina de la Renta’s Promociones Dorado, while Konnan will be in the corner of Pentagon.

The news of Pentagon Jr.’s involvement at War Games has to be reassuring for MLW Fans. Pentagon and Rey Fenix were pulled from MLW’s return to Queens, NY on October 4th, which fueled rumors that WWE was looking to sign the duo.

Brian Pillman Jr. Initially Thought His Father’s Passing Was An Angle

Brian Pillman Jr. was a guest on Wrestling Observer Radio over the weekend. The son of the late “Loose Cannon” Brian Pillman spoke with Dave Metlzer and Bryan Alvarez about a wide variety of topics during their half hour discussion.

Pillman spoke about his decision to follow in his father’s footsteps in becoming a pro wrestler, what he perceives to be his strengths and weaknesses, his father’s legacy and much more.

Pillman was only four years old at the time of his father’s tragic passing. It was such a surreal moment that when his family was called and informed about the tragedy, he thought it was a television angle, “like Austin and the gun.” Young Pillman Jr. was so unsure of the nature of the call versus the reality of it that he actually thought “my dad’s death was a work.”

The second generation wrestler recently made his debut for Major League Wrestling. Pillman, along with Davey Boy Smith Jr. and Teddy Hart, comprise the new Hart Foundation faction that is already making waves in MLW.

Brian Pillman Sr.

Brian Pillman was at the forefront of edgy storylines during the 90s, and seemed to relish the opportunity to push the boundaries of his character and whatever feud he was involved with.

From his time with the Four Horsemen and the initial beginning of the “Loose Cannon” gimmick, where he would court controversy through a myriad of worked shoots, including grabbing the mic during SuperBrawl VI and directly referring to Kevin Sullivan as “booker man,” to the previously mentioned altercation between “Stone Cold” Steve Austin and a more developed “Loose Cannon,” where the infamous WWF segment took place with Austin breaking into Pillman’s home only to be confronted with a gun as the camera faded with the sound of screams, supposed gunshots and carnage. The then WWF would later have to apologise for the entire angle.

With Pillman Sr. being so willing to blur the lines of his own reality and character, it’s not surprising that a four-year-old Pillman Jr. would believe the initial reports of his father’s unfortunate passing were a work.

All In Television Replay Negotiations Underway

It wasn’t so long ago that wrestling fans worldwide weree unsure if they’d be able to experience All In without being there in person. Thankfully, that is not the case.

In recent weeks, it was announced that All In will be sold on traditional pay-per-view and online streaming services such as ROH’s Honor Club and FITE.tv.

This past week, the Wrestling Observer reports that there are in fact negotiations taking place in order to get All In a traditional television replay once the initial PPV window expires. The report explains the reasoning behind this push:

“The idea is to more get as many people watching as possible, so in a sense they are undercutting their own PPV by allowing it on HonorClub, with the idea of using the show to build up HonorClub subs.”

All In Subscription Initiative

Ring Of Honor has seen a spike in HonorClub subscriptions this past week after members were offered first crack a G1 Climax ticket presale. The ROH-NJPW co-promoted event at Madison Square Garden on April 8th, 2018 sold out the day remaining tickets went on sale to the general public.

All In will conform to the way ROH have been presenting PPVs via their HonorClub service, with HonorClub VIP’s getting the show for free, whilst regular HonorClub subscribers can purchase the iPPV for half the cost.

The regular television PPV will come in at $39.99 and $49.99. Interestingly, this was “an insistence from their side at running it lower as the PPV companies wanted it at closer to WWE prices.”

For those outside America, Fite TV will be broadcasting the iPPV for $39.99.

WGN America is reported as having wanted to show the entirety of All In live. However, Cody and the Young Bucks “had an idea for what they wanted from the show and live television of the big matches wasn’t going to work.”

All In has had an interesting journey (to say the least) from ‘concept’ to selling out a 10,000 person arena and now global distribution What started as a live event for fans in the Chicago area is now shaping up to be one of the biggest shows of the year. Fans are counting down the days until September 1st. Will you be All In?

The paparazzi princess seems to be done with her wrestling career.

In a recent interview with Periscope, Melina took the time to answer a few questions and discuss whether she is done wrestling.

“That would be awesome. It would be like the saddest thing because she’s like my little sister. I would feel so guilty. I know even before WWE people were trying [to book us in a match]. It would be weird because she’s like my little sister.”

“Hypothetically, if we were to have a match, she would be able to get one over on me because that’s my little sister, I don’t want to fight with her. But, when you’re young, you’ve got something to prove. You’re hungry, you’re like ‘you know what? I’ve been living in your shadow,’ it’s like a sister scenario. ‘I’ve been living in your shadow long enough so I need to prove something.'”

Nothing Else To Prove

I’ve heard so many people say, ‘you’re old, you’re this, It’s like, yeah, granted I may not move the way I used to. I may not be able to do some of the stuff I’ve done. Seriously, the way my mind works it’s like I’m not going to be as hard-hitting because my mind thinks, ‘what’s the point? I already proved what I needed to prove, what’s the point?’

“But, when pushed to a certain point, being the person who’s experienced so much stuff I’m more methodical. I think things through more than a person who reacts on emotion. Oh, I will find a way, I will find a way to win. It doesn’t have to be me doing flippy-dos and putting myself in danger.

“I’ll find a way because I’ve seen it all, people have taken what I’ve done, they put their spin on it. I see different ways of using my moves, of doing all that stuff. It’s like, ‘okay, you’ve taught me a little something, now I’m gonna put my spin on it and it’s gonna be so much better.’ Like, I think of all these scenarios, you know?”

“You got me thinking but, I’m not coming back to wrestling guys.”  “No, stop making me think about this stuff, I don’t want to [return]. I’ve got happier stuff, you know? I accept that my time has come and gone, I’m secure with that. I’m cool with that.”

New Match Announced For Raw

WWE has announced a new match and a big contract signing segment for the upcoming episode of Monday Night Raw. This episode will be the go home show for SummerSlam.

The match which has been announced for the show will see Natalya with Ronda Rousey in her corner battling the Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss. Bliss will have Alicia Fox in her side for the bout.

The contract signing segment will see the Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler alongside Drew McIntyre signing the contract for his upcoming title match with Seth Rollins.

All this is in addition to the previously announced triple threat match for the Raw Tag Team Championship. The match will see the B Team, The Revival and the team of Matt Hardy and Bray Wyatt fighting each other for the championship.

Pentagon Jr’s Mask Will Be On The Line At Upcoming Match

The press conference for the TripleMania featured a couple of big announcement for the main event of the show including a big stipulation for the match.

First, they introduced the concept of Poker de Ases which is a fatal four-way match. 4 masked superstars will compete in a lucha de apuesta cage match and the loser will drop his mask.

Announcing the remaining two participants for the fight, the officials revealed that both Pentagon Jr. and La Parka will be competing in the match.

Both El Hijo del Fantasma and Psycho Clown were previously announced, so we now know all four participants of this bout.

What’s interesting to note here is that La Parka who has been announced for the bout appears to be the original La Parka from WCW and not the one who competes in AAA.

Contract Signing and Second Match Set For Raw, A Look Back At SummerSlam 2007

– Ahead of SummerSlam next Sunday, WWE has announced a contract signing and another match for Raw tomorrow night in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Seth Rollins will meet Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler (and Drew McIntyre) for a contract signing that will make their title match at SummerSlam official.

Before defending the Raw Women’s Championship against Ronda Rousey at SummerSlam, Bliss will take on Natalya as both Alicia Fox and Rousey look on from ringside.

This is in addition to an already announced Triple Threat Match for the Raw Tag Team Championship, with The B-Team defending the straps against The Deleters of Worlds and The Revival.

Update On CM Punk & AJ Lee’s Horror Movie ‘Rabid’

Former WWE Superstars CM Punk and AJ Lee have started a new chapter in their careers. The married couple will be working together on a new horror film. Punk and AJ will appear in Rabid, a remake of the 1977 horror film directed by David Cronenberg.

The remake is being directed by the Soska Sisters, the duo behind ‘See No Evil 2′ starring Kane. The synopsis for Rabid reads, “After a young woman, Rose, suffers a disfiguring accident, she undergoes an experimental stem-cell treatment that leads to unintended consequences.”

The main character Rose will be portrayed by Laura Vandervoort (Jigsaw, Ted). Punk and AJ will be playing the married couple of Billy and Kira, which should not be too much of a stretch for them.

AJ posted a photo on Instagram of herself in character. She said it was an honor to be involved with the project and her heart is “full of joy” because the movie has so many talented women working on it.  “It was an honor to be a teeny part of a project with female writers/directors, a female director of photography, female camera operators, a badass female lead, and a story showcasing a ride or die female friendship,” AJ wrote. “I am beyond inspired and my heart is full of joy.”

No release date for Rabid has been announced, but principal photography began in last month in Toronto.

CM Punk: Second City Star

Reports are in that CM Punk has already filmed his scenes for the horror remake and has already picked up another lead role in another horror film. The film is titled Team Player and filming starts in the next couple months in Illinois.

Punk will also be hosting the newest season of Netflix ‘s Ultimate Beastmaster.

Brian Cage vs Bullet Club

Brian Cage has yet to be pinned or submitted on Impact Wrestling thus far. He defeated Matt Sydal for the X-Division Championship at Slammiversary in Toronto.

Cage then successfully defended the title against Sydal in a rematch the following night. He’s scheduled to defend his title against Fenix tonight at Impact’s tapings once again at Rebel Nightclub.

Chris Jericho Rock N Rager At Sea

Several matches have been booked for Chris Jericho’s cruise, scheduled from October 27 to the 31st.

The Young Bucks and Chris Jericho will team up to take on Cody, Marty Scurll, and Hangman Page. Also LAX recently challenged the Young Bucks.

“I’m gonna put that out there: Young Bucks meet LAX on international waters. First blood, first death, whatever the hell you wanna call it and let’s do this.”

“All right, Young Bucks, we’re calling you out,” Konnan said on his podcast. “You can stop a revolutionary but you can’t stop a revolution. Boom. We’re serious like a late period. Bring it.”

Cody Challenges Juice Robinson For the IWGP United States Championship

Cody has his sights set on more than one championship. With an NWA World Heavyweight Championship match coming up on September 1st, Cody has his sights set on Juice Robinson’s belt as well.

Cody and Hangman Page defeated Juice Robinson and David Finlay today on the G1 Climax 28 final show. Following the victory, Cody called Robinson a “bad rip-off of Kairi Sane” before challenging him to a title match. He said he was sick of hearing the wrestling media talk so highly of Juice and then referred to himself as the next IWGP United States Champion.

A likely date for the match would be September 30th with NJPW returns to Long Beach.

Cody Rhodes and Juice Robinson have met five times previously. The first time they faced each other was inside the Tokyo Dome at Wrestle Kingdom 11. Cody won that match as well as the following 4 tag-team matches they were on opposite sides of.

Robinson trained under Cody’s father, Dusty Rhodes when he was in WWE’s developmental system.

“Dusty would always just preach being real,” Juice said during a media call for the G1 Special in San Francisco. “He would always tell me to be myself.”

“He would always say it’s the why not the how,” Juice continued.

 

Jerry Lawler Explains Why He Doesn’t Think His Son Hung Himself In Jail

It looks like there may be foul play surrounding the passing of Brian Christopher Lawler.

Jerry Lawler, father of the late former WWE Superstar who reportedly died after hanging himself in Hardeman County jail, recently spoke out about the incident in an interview with Action News 5 out of Memphis, Tennessee.

According to “The King,” the details surrounding his sons passing do not “pass the smell test.”

“Brian being my son, I knew him, everybody around him who knew him and they all have expressed doubts,” said Lawler, when talking about not believing that his son hung himself. “We’ve received literally countless calls, text messages from people, actual eyewitnesses, that were in the jail and saw things that happened on the actual day that Brian died that now has opened up a new can of worms. It just doesn’t seem like it was suicide.”

From there, the WWE Hall Of Famer recalled being informed about his son being in a fight in jail prior to his untimely passing.

“I talked to Brian Saturday morning 11 o’clock the day he died,” Jerry said. “He talked perfectly normal, perfectly rational.”

A couple of hours later Lawler’s fiancée, Lauryn, got a call from the jail.

“Lauryn got a call about 2 in the afternoon that said Brian had been in a fight in the jail. An inmate was actually playing cards with Brian when the altercation happened when Brian got hit,” said Lawler.

Jerry claimed that witnesses described Brian as “bleeding from the head [and] asking for medical help” that he reportedly didn’t receive at the jail. A few hours later, he received a call informing him that Brian had hung himself with his shoelaces. However, photos taken of Brian show marks on both sides of his neck, but not in the front or the back.

“Just look at his neck and look at his hand,” Jerry said. “You can see the lines on his neck all the way around here to here and what would be the length of your hand as if he was trying to keep the pressure off.”

Lawler’s lawyer, Ted Hansom, concurs.

“I think the pictures indicate something other than someone hanging himself with a shoelace,” Hansom said.

Bullet Club Firing Squad Win 6-Man Titles At G1 Climax 28 Final

On their final show before a likely 3-month suspension, Bullet Club’s Firing Squad have won the NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag-Team Championships. Tama Tonga, Tanga Loa, and the group’s newest member, Taiji Ishimori, defeated the Young Bucks and Marty Scurll for the titles.

Following their victory, however, the Firing Squad members threw the belts in the direction of NJPW owner, Harold Meij. Their status as champions remains unclear.

Their match against the now-former champions was originally scheduled to be a non-title bout. Tama Tonga then challenged them to put the titles up, however. Meij made the title match official moments before it started.

Tama Tonga, Tanga Loa, and Bad Luck Fale Likely Suspended?

The group is facing a likely 3-month suspension. They had received a warning that if they interfered in any B-Block matches on the final night of the round-robin they would be suspended. The faction then did interfere in Tama Tonga’s match that night.

Kenny Omega vs. Pentagon Jr. has been confirmed for next month’s All In pay-per-view.

With the news of this high-profile contest, there are now 9 matches confirmed for All In, including 2 matches on the 1-hour pre-show airing on WGN.

Omega is the current IWGP Heavyweight Champion and Pentagon is a former Lucha Underground and Impact World Champion and one of the most decorated younger luchadors of his generation in Mexico.

Pentagon and Fenix have recently been the center of rumors concerning WWE. Two weeks ago it was reported WWE had interest in the brothers, however, it is still unclear what their current contract status with Lucha Underground. Pentagon and Fenix are both thought to have signed 7-season deals with Lucha Underground but there are reports both have told bookers they may need to cancel dates in 2019.

The Lucha Bros are the MLW tag-team champions but were recently pulled from an event scheduled for October.

Kenny Omega’s Next Title Challenger Likely Revealed

Kenny Omega could have to defend his IWGP Heavyweight Championship multiple times before WrestleKingdom. His likely first title challenger was revealed today.

After pinning Chase Owens in a tag match, Tomohiro Ishii declared he wants a shot at the champion. Kevin Kelly speculated the match could main event NJPW’s return to Long Beach on September 30th.

Ishii was the first wrestler to defeat Omega in the tournament this year. Omega was later defeated by Toru Yano and Kota Ibushi as well.

Omega and Ishii are tied 2-2 in their all-time one-on-one series. Ishii defeated Omega the first time they met in the 2017 NJ Cup. Omega would defeat Ishii the next time they met at Wrestling Dontaku 2017, however.

Omega then defeated Ishii in the finals of the tournament to crown an inaugural IWGP United States Champion in Long Beach. Most recently, Ishii defeated Omega in the G1 Climax 28 B-Block.

Omega lost his final 3 matches in this year’s G1 Climax tournament. He started the tournament much as Kazuchika Okada had last year. Omega won his first 6 round-robin bouts but his 12pts were only good enough for a 4-way tie atop the group.

Kota Ibushi advanced to the finals based on the tie-breaker rule that the wrestler with the best record against the 3 opponents he’s tied with advances. Ibushi defeated Omega, Zack Sabre Jr, and Tetsuya Naito.

Hiroshi Tanahashi is now a 3x G1 tournament winner. He defeated Kota Ibushi today in the Nippon Budokan in Tokyo, Japan in the finals of G1 Climax 28.

With the victory, Tanahashi earns the right to challenge the champion at WrestleKingdom 13. The G1 winner has had to defend that right before moving onto the Tokyo Dome in recent years, however. As Jay White was the only person to defeat Tanahashi in the tournament, he’s a likely candidate for Tanahashi to defend the G1 briefcase against.

Chris Jericho does not believe Vince McMahon is worried about another wrestling promotion selling out Madison Square Garden. In fact, Jericho believes Vince knows this will only improve the business overall.

The G1 Supercard sold-out almost instantly after tickets went on sale to the general public yesterday.

“I bet you, deep down inside even Vince would say, ‘Okay, this is good.’ This is good for business because it makes everybody work a little harder, it gives the fans more options, it gives the [performers] more options. It makes the business healthier overall.”

Tickets to the event were thought to be 60% sold after VIP Honor Club subscribers were given early access.

Chris Jericho Vince McMahon Relationship

There is speculation that Chris Jericho may have gone back on his promise to never wrestle in the United States for a promotion other than WWE. Jericho is the current IWGP Intercontinental Champion and could potentially be booked on the G1 Supercard. To do so, however, he would have to go back on his long-held statement regarding his loyalty to WWE.

“It’s very cool to go back to Japan, where I started, and be part of this worldwide growth of New Japan,” Jericho said recently during an interview with Sports Illustrated. “There are no real restrictions on what I can do in New Japan.”

Jericho last competed for WWE this spring in the Greatest Royal Rumble.

Tomoaki Honma, Togi Makabe & Michael Elgin vs Yuji Nagata, Shota Umino & Ayato Yoshida

The 6-man tag match started off with a brawl. Elgin broke up a pinfall but was quickly thrown out of the ring. Honma took control of the match and connected with a headbutt as the crowd cheered. Elgin hopped up on the apron and hit Shota with a couple of chops to the chest.

Elgin blocked a roll-up attempt and hit another ridiculous chop that echoed throughout the arena. Shota went for a Dropkick but Elgin held up on the ropes and Shota fell to the canvas. Shota crawled to the corner and tagged in Yuji Nagata. Nagata booted Honma off the ring apron and then delivered a few kicks to Elgin’s chest in the middle of the ring.

Nagata went for a boot but Elgin blocked it and connected with an Enziguri. Togi Makabe tagged in and beatdown Nagata in the corner with a few punches to the face. Nagata battled back and connected with an Exploder Suplex. Ayato Yoshida tagged in and booted Makabe in the back for a two count.

Makabe hit a Clothesline and went for the cover but it was broken up at two. Togi followed it up with a Knee Drop off the top rope for the pinfall victory.

Bad Luck Fale vs Toa Henare

Henare started off the match in control and then went for a Splash in the corner. Fale caught him by the throat but Toa broke free and connected with a headbutt. Henare climbed to the top rope and connected with a Crossbody for a two count. Henare went for a Samoan Drop but failed to lift Fale up. Fale connected with a Clothesline and followed it up with the Bad Luck Fall for the quick pinfall victory.

CHAOS (YOSHI-HASHI & Hirooki Goto) vs. SUZUKI-GUN (Taichi & Takashi Iizuka) 

Iizuka attacked Yoshi-Hashi and Goto from behind with a steel chair to start off the match. Hashi battled back with a Hurricanrana and then beatdown Taichi in the corner of the ring. Iizuka then got into the match and removed his muzzle and started biting everyone. Yoshi finally was able to battle back and tag in Goto.

Goto hit Iizuka with a boot to the chest and then hit a Belly to Back Suplex that sent Taichi flying onto Iizuka. Goto then planted Iizuka with a Belly to Back Suplex for a two count. Taichi got in the match and booted Goto in the arm. Taichi took his time and laughed at Goto, which allowed Goto to hit another Belly to Back Suplex.

Yoshi-Hashi tagged in and draped Taichi across the top rope. Yoshi then delivered a Dropkick to his back and went for a cover but Taichi was able to kick out at two. They then traded chops and Taichi resorted to a low blow. Yoshi regrouped and connected with a Clothesline. Taichi connected with a boot to Yoshi-Hashi’s face and followed it up with a Clothesline for a two count. Taichi then connected with a kick to the face and followed it up with a Powerbomb for the pinfall victory.

Juice Robinson & David Finlay vs. Cody & Hangman Page

Hangman Page and David Finlay started off the match by locking up in the middle of the ring. The two traded shots and had a staredown. Page backed away to the corner and tagged in Cody. Juice Robinson tagged in as well and Cody started doing pushups and then posed in the ring.

Juice hit Cody with a couple of Arm Drags and then a Dropkick to the face. Finlay tagged and planted Cody with a Bulldog and then knocked Page off the ring apron. Cody spit his gum in Finlay’s face and then got out of the ring. Finlay ran after him and then got distracted by Hangman Page. Cody snuck up behind Finlay and threw him to the floor by his hair.

Back in the ring, Hangman Page tagged in and hit Finlay with a Fallaway Slam for a near fall. Cody got back into the match and stomped on Finlay’s chest. Finlay battled out of the corner as Page tagged back in. Hangman brought Finlay back to the corner and quickly tagged Cody back into the match.

Cody perched Finlay up on the top rope but Finlay battled back with a headbutt. Finlay then leaped off the turnbuckle and connected with an uppercut. Juice and Hangman tagged in and Robinson connected with a massive Clothesline. Juice made his way to the top rope and hit a Crossbody for a near fall.

Juice trapped both Cody and Page in the corner and hit them with a Splash. Juice followed it up with a Cannonball onto both of them but Page battled back with a forearm to the face. Cody planted Juice with a Powerslam and then Hangman delivered a Shooting Star Press for a two count.

Cody tagged in as Hangman took out Finlay with a Lariat. Cody and Juice then traded jabs and Cody got the upper-hand with a Disaster Kick out of nowhere. Juice shrugged it off and went for Pulp Friction but Cody countered and slammed Juice to the canvas for the pinfall victory. After the match, Cody called for the microphone as the crowd chanted “Cody!”. Cody draped Juice’s US Title over his own shoulder and vowed to become the next United States Champion. Cody added that Juice is nothing but a bad Kairi Sane impression.

Bullet Club Elite (Young Bucks & Marty Scurll) vs. Bullet Club OG (Tanga Loa, Tama Tonga & Taiji Ishimori)

This match was turned into a title match just before it started. The match started out in a brawl that spilled out of the ring. Tama launched Nick Jackson into the barricade surrounding the ring as Scurll beatdown Ishimori on the entrance ramp. Nick then flipped onto Ishimori and the action returned to the ring.

Tama hit Matt Jackson with a few punches to the face and followed it up with a Suplex for a two count. Tanga tagged in and held Matt up for several seconds in a Vertical Suplex. Tanga finally dropped him and went for the cover but Matt kicked out at two.

Ishimori tagged in and continued the beatdown for a bit before Tama tagged back in. Tama knocked Marty off the ring apron and brought Matt to the corner of the ring. Matt finally was able to battle back and hit Ishimori with a Spear. Tama knocked Nick and Marty off the ring apron before Matt could tag out of the match. Matt hit a Clothesline and tagged in Nick just as he got back up on the ring apron.

Nick hit Tanga with a Bulldog and Tama with a Clothesline at the same time. Nick then booted Ishimori in the face and Taiji fell to the floor outside the ring. Matt hit Tama with a Swanton and Nick went for the cover but Tama kicked out at two. Nick tried to boot Tama in the face but he ducked and he accidentally hit Matt. Matt shrugged it off and hit Tama with a Superkick and all three men fell to the canvas.

Marty Scurll and Ishimori tagged in and traded shots in the middle of the ring. Ishimori bounced off the ropes and hit an awesome kick to the side of Scurll’s face. Ishimori then hung up Scurll in the ropes and hit a ridiculous sliding German Suplex for a two count. Scurll applied the Chicken Wing in the middle of the ring as the Young Bucks locked in Sharpshooters on Tama and Tanga at the same time.

Nick took out Tama and Tanga with a flip off the top rope. The Young Bucks and Marty Scurll all then leaped onto Ishimori at the same time. Scurll went for the cover but Ishimori somehow was able to kick out at the last second. Tama tagged in and was greeted with a Superkick to the face. Scurll got distracted with Tanga and Tama took advantage and hit Scurll with a Gun Stun to become the new champs.

Los Ingobernables de Japon (Tetsuya Naito, SANADA, EVIL & BUSHI) vs SUZUKI-GUN (Minoru Suzuki, Zack Sabre Jr, Yoshinobu Kanemaru & El Desperado)

The match started out in a massive brawl outside the ring. Suzuki attacked Naito and tried to hit him with a chair but the referee stopped it. Suzuki and Naito then both grabbed chairs and started trash talking with each other. The referee to the chairs from them and they both started slapping each other in the face. Suzuki grabbed Naito’s head and slammed into a table next to the ring.

Back in the ring, Suzuki threw Naito into the turnbuckle. Suzuki then booted Naito in the face and applied a Knee Bar in the corner of the ring. Naito broke free but Suzuki kneed him in the ribs. El Desperado tagged in and shoved his boot in Naito’s face in the corner of the ring.

Suzuki trapped Naito in an Arm Bar on the apron while the referee was distracted. Sabre Jr. tagged in and continued the beatdown of Naito. Naito battled back with an Enziguri and then followed it up with a Neckbreaker. EVIL tagged in and Zack greeted him with an Abdominal Stretch. EVIL quickly broke free and connected with a Senton for a two count.

Sabre knocked EVIL to the mat by tripping him up and then delivered a couple of kicks to his chest. EVIL battled back with a kick of his own but Sabre quickly applied a Wrist Lock. EVIL countered into a Fisherman’s Buster and then tagged in BUSHI. Kanemaru tagged in at the same time.

SANADA got into the match and a brawl broke out once again. Desperado hit SANADA with a Spear and then Kanemaru hit Deep Impact and went for the cover but it was broken up at two. Another brawl broke out and SANADA and Kanemaru were left in the ring. SANADA quickly picked up the submission victory via the Skull End but the brawl continued after the match. Suzuki went nuts after the match and started attacking everyone in sight.

 CHAOS (Tomohiro Ishii, Toru Yano & Jay White) vs Bullet Club Elite (Kenny Omega, Yujiro Takahashi & Chase Owens)

Jay White and Chase Owens started off the match. White applied a Headlock but Owens escaped and countered into a Wrist Lock. White and Owens then traded Hammerlocks in the middle of the ring. Jay got the upper-hand and hit Owens with a few chops to the chest.

Owens battled back with a boot to the face that knocked White to the canvas. White tagged in Yano and Toru wanted nothing to do with getting the ring. The crowd cheered him on and Yano finally got into the ring. Takahashi tagged in and Yano greeted him with an inverted Atomic Drop.

Yano got trapped in the corner and Takahashi connected with a boot to the face. Kenny Omega tagged in and asked Chase to put his boot on the rope. Omega then slammed Yano’s face into it and tagged in Chase Owens. Chase quickly tagged Omega back in and Kenny jogged around Yano and tagged Owens back in.

Yujiro then tagged in for a second before tagging Omega back in. Kenny jogged around Yano once again and then a brawl broke out in the ring. Yano finally was able to tag Tomohiro Ishii into the match. Ishii hit Omega with a Powerslam and then a shoulder tackle to Chase Owens.

Ishii and Omega traded shots for a moment but Chase got into the ring and booted Ishii in the face. Owens tagged in and delivered a running knee to Ishii’s face for a two count. Omega and Takahashi attacked Ishii but Yano and White broke it up. Ishii Clotheslined Owens for a two count but Owens battled back with a Superkick but Ishii wouldn’t go down. Ishii hit Owens with a headbutt but Chase bounced off the ropes and hit a massive Clothesline for a near fall. Ishii hit a Clothesline of his own and followed it up with a Brainbuster for the pinfall victory.

After the match, Ishii challenged Kenny Omega for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship.

Rey Mysterio Jr., KUSHIDA & Sengoku Enbu vs. CHAOS (SHO, YOH & Kazuchika Okada)

Okada and Mysterio started off the match as the crowd chanted “619!”. Mysterio hit Okada with a Hurricanrana and then a Dropkick. Mysterio went for the 619 but Okada got out of the way just in time. Sho and Kushida then tagged into the match and went back and forth for a bit. Kushida applied an Arm Bar in the middle of the ring and then a brawl broke out. Okada tried to remove Enbu’s mask but failed to do so.

Back in the ring, Yoh tagged in and trapped Kushida in a Waist Lock. Yoh slammed Kushida into the turnbuckle and tagged Sho back in. Sho slammed Kushida to the canvas and hit him with a Dropkick. Kushida battled back with a flying elbow and tagged Sengoku Enbu in.

Enbu hit a few Hip Attacks and then avoided Sho’s attempt at a Dropkick. Enbu connected with a Bulldog and followed it up with a sloppy looking Moonsault for a two count. Enbu applied an Ankle Lock but Sho was able to escape. Enbu went for a Hip Attack again but Sho countered into a German Suplex.

Okada tagged in and stomped on Enbu several times while he was down on the mat. Okada followed it up with a DDT for a near fall. Enbu dodged the Rainmaker and connected with a Hip Attack. Mysterio tagged back in and hit Okada with a Dropkick for a two count. Rey went for a Crossbody but Okada caught him and set up for a Tombstone. Rey escaped but Okada planted him with a Flapjack.

Yoh got in the match and delivered a Falcon Arrow to Mysterio for a two count. Mysterio and Yoh traded roll-ups but Sho got into the ring and hit Rey with a Backbreaker. Rey battled back and hit Yoh with a DDT and then set them both up for the 619. Okada broke it up with a Dropkick. Enbu and Kushida then took out Sho and Okada outside the ring.

Back in the ring, Yoh and Mysterio traded shots. Mysterio got the upper-hand and connected with the 619. Rey followed it up with a springboard Splash for the pinfall victory.

G1 Climax Final: Hiroshi Tanahashi vs Kota Ibushi

The crowd was electric as the bell rang to start the match. Ibushi and Tanahashi locked up in the middle of the ring. Tanahashi got the upper-hand and brought Ibushi to the canvas and applied a Waist Lock. Ibushi got to the ropes to break up the hold and the two locked up again in the center of the ring.

Tanahashi once again got the better of the exchange and trapped Ibushi in a Headlock. Ibushi tried to break free but Tanahashi didn’t let go. Ibushi countered and applied Headscissors in the middle of the ring. Tanahashi countered into a Headlock and Ibushi screamed in agony.

Kota battled to his feet but Hiroshi decked him with a shoulder tackle. Ibushi hopped right up and knocked Tanahashi to the canvas. Tanahashi got back up and Ibushi threw him into the turnbuckle. Tanahashi exploded out of the corner and connected with a Dropkick to Ibushi’s knee.

Tanahashi then went after Ibushi’s knee and stomped on it a few times. Tanahashi locked in a Triangle Scorpion submission hold but Ibushi quickly grabbed the bottom rope to break the hold. Ibushi connected with a jumping kick to the face that sent Tanahashi tumbling to the mat.

Ibushi followed it up with a Powerslam and then a springboard Moonsault off the second rope for a two count. Ibushi sold the knee as he made his way back to his feet and tried to lift up Tanahashi. Hiroshi escaped but Ibushi connected with a Dropkick that sent Tanahashi out of the ring.

Kota caught Tanahashi with a Double Stomp as he was on the apron and caught him in the face as well during the move. Back in the ring, Tanahashi caught a kick from Ibushi and countered into a Dragon Screw that sent Ibushi flying across the ring. Tanahashi hit Ibushi with a Dropkick in the corner but Kota shrugged it off and hit a Double Stomp to Tanahashi’s back.

Tanahashi hit another Dropkick and then made his way to the top rope. Ibushi caught him but Tanahashi countered into a Slingblade. Tanahashi then delivered another Dropkick to Ibushi int he corner of the ring. Ibushi and Tanahashi then traded shots as the crowd chanted at each impact.

Ibushi sent Tanahashi to the apron and then caught him in the ropes. Ibushi then delivered a painful looking Piledriver for a two count as 15 minutes have elapsed in the match. Tanahashi battled with back to back Dragon Screws and then locked in the Cloverleaf in the middle of the ring.

Kota reached for the ropes but Tanahashi brought him back to the center of the ring. Ibushi fought through the pain as Omega cheered him on and Kota finally was able to grab the bottom rope to break the hold. Tanahashi remained on the attack and brought Ibushi to the apron.

Tanahashi then grabbed Kota’s knee and delivered another Dragon Screw that sent Kota out of the ring. Tanahashi climbed to the top rope and connected with Crossbody outside the ring. Tanahashi rolled back into the ring as the referee started counting. Ibushi got back into the ring and hit Tanahashi with a Hurricanrana.

Tanahashi then tumbled out of the ring and Kota hit a beautiful springboard Moonsault off the top rope. Back in the ring, Ibushi connected with a springboard Dropkick and then slapped himself in the face to get fired up. Ibushi perched Tanahashi on the top turnbuckle and set up for a Superplex. Tanahashi knocked Ibushi to the apron but Kota quickly leaped back up and connected with a Frankensteiner from the top rope for another near fall.

Kota connected with a Belly to Back Suplex and went for the cover but Tanahashi was able to kick out at the last moment. Kota went for a knee to the face but Tanahashi countered into a roll-up for a two count. Ibushi got right back up and connected with the knee to the face this time.

Ibushi made his way back to his feet but Tanahashi greeted him with a left hand to the face. Kota hit a few massive palm strikes to Tanahashi’s chest and face and then booted him to the corner of the ring. Tanahashi got fired up and shrugged off Kota’s strikes and drove him into the corner of the ring.

They then traded strikes to the face and neither would back down. Tanahashi connected with a strike but Kota spun around and decked Tanahashi with a massive Clothesline. The energy in the arena was incredible as both men were down on the canvas. Ibushi and Tanahashi pressed their heads against each other and traded shots from their knees.

Kota connected with a forearm to the face but Tanahashi came right back with a forearm of his own. Tanahashi powered to his feet and punched Ibushi in the face. Kota shook it off and hit another forearm to Tanahashi’s face. Back and forth we go and both refused to back down. Tanahashi hit a flurry of uppercuts but Kota responded with a palm strike. Tanahashi hit a Slingblade for a near fall and followed it up with a straight-jacket German Suplex for a two count.

Tanahashi climbed to the top rope and leaped off but Kota got his knees up at the last second. Ibushi slowly got up and delivered a knee to the back of Tanahashi’s head. Ibushi then connected with a Moonsault into a Double Knees into Tanahashi’s midsection. Kota followed it up with a Lawn Dart that sent Tanahashi face-first into the turnbuckle.

Ibushi hit a ridiculous German Suplex from the apron into the ring and followed it up with the Last Ride but Tanahashi somehow kicked out at two. Kota hit another German Suplex for a near fall and then Tanahashi hit a Dragon Suplex out of nowhere for a two count. Tanahashi quickly made his way to the top rope and hit the High Fly Flow. Tanahashi went back to the top rope and hit another one as Ibushi was standing. Tanahashi went back up to the top rope and hit a third High Fly Flow for the pinfall victory.

Revolution Pro Wrestling (Rev Pro) are heading to the world famous York Hall in Bethnal Green, London, in order to present something that will no doubt intend to further change the landscape of British wrestling.

September 5th and 6th 2018 will see RPW take over York Hall for two days straight, accompanied by TV production trucks, as they put on what will be a hotly anticipated potential rival to the recently rebooted World Of Sport on ITV.

With a call to arms to fans to come and “Be A Part Of History,” the poster, featuring British star and Suzuki-gun darling Zack Sabre Jr. popping his collar in a way that would make Finn jealous, boldly declares that they will present “Pro Wrestling At Its Best.”

Early September is only around the corner, and Revolution Pro Wrestling haven’t even gotten past their key summer event, Summer Sizzler 2018 – which features a tag match between Aussie Open and Killer Elite Squad, as well as boasting an astounding main event between WALTER vs Tomohiro Ishii – but this hasn’t stopped them from leaping at an opportunity that was too good to decline.

Owner and promoter, Andy Quildan, acknowledges the workload RPW have just shouldered but are unafraid of carrying:

“When you passionately believe in something and an opportunity like this comes along you take it. No matter how much work you’ve just created for yourself. Come and join us as we make history.”

When asked for further details via Twitter, Andy had this to say in regards to the surprise announcement via the Rev Pro account:

“For now all you need to know is we will be presenting wrestling our way, with no compromises and we need all of you to play your part in that!”

Tickets for the tapings go on sale from Monday 13th at 7 PM, with ALL tickets costing £15.

Many fans are disappointed that Bobby Lashley will not be involved in the Universal title match at SummerSlam. Thus robbing them of an encounter of Bobby Lashley vs. Brock Lensar.

Tale Of The Tape

Lashley and Reigns faced each other for the number one contender spot for the Universal Championship at SummerSlam. Reigns would win the number one contender match to face Lesnar leaving Lashley back in a mid-card feud with Elias.

The Big Guy Speaks

Ryback gave his take on the situation involving Lashley and Reigns on Conversation With The Big Guy.

“They want Roman Reigns to be the guy to beat Brock Lesnar. You have to look at it that you are selling to the house market that a big win over Brock Lesnar does more for you worldwide than just that hardcore audience [if Lashley would have won] regardless of what they think.”

“Something like that they are going more global. You have to look at the big win Roman Reigns had over The Undertaker and other wins that he has been afforded over the years. That adds up and sells merchandise and that puts him in that sort of position.”

 

Roman Reigns Has No Interest In Working With Paul Heyman

In preparations for his big title match against Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam, Roman Reigns took the time to answer questions in a recent interview.

One question that was asked if Reigns would like to have Paul Heyman represent him.

“Nah I like talking for myself. That’s one thing I want too, just a little longer promos you know what I mean? Just me and the mic that would be nice. Do a lot of interactive promos in the ring and stuff like that. That’s how you grow and it’ll be cool to get those long, solo promos. Working with Paul, there’s nothing wrong with just sitting there like a boss and let your attorney do the talking. Let him talk the logistics, and I’m sure Paul won’t have a problem reading off my resume, it’ll take a while but he’s pretty good with stuff like that. But I would still want to talk for myself, 100 percent.”

Another question that was asked is if this match with Lesnar would have a different outcome than the others.

“That gets thrown around a lot. It’s funny because we haven’t wrestled that much. We’ve only had the three, two being regular matches and the other being in a cage. The others were in multi-man matches like the Fatal Four Way last year at SummerSlam and the Triple Threat with Ambrose at Fastlane a couple of years ago.

But being in there with an athlete like Brock regardless if it’s WWE or MMA, he is an unpredictable and powerful character and athlete. So you always have to be careful in there because he’s strong, and can throw you very far. When you haven’t been in the ring with him that often, and he’s not around as often, that can always be a concern.”

WWE Looking Into Randy Orton ‘Misconduct’ Allegation

Randy Orton is known to rub people the wrong way earlier in his career. It seems his actions have caught up with him.

Former WWE writer and MLW founder Court Bauer alleges that Randy Orton would “expose himself” to new WWE writers. An on old episode of MLW Radio (Episode 49: Ribbing and Junk, 2012), Bauer said:

“For every new writer that would show up, he comes in the room puts his hand down his pants, pulls out his d*ck, touches himself, then says ‘I’m Randy Orton, shake my hand…oh you don’t want to shake my hand? Are you big leaguing me? That’s f**ked up man. Should I tell Vince and Steph you won’t shake Randy Orton’s hand?”

Bauer would go on to say that he barely avoided falling victim to Randy Orton’s antics back in 2005. Thankfully, Stephanie McMahon entered the room and interrupted what was about to unfold. Bauer describes that situation as ‘a teacher walking into the room’ and everything going back to normal.

WWE issued a brief statement to WrestlingNewsCo regarding Randy Orton’s sexual misconduct. The company says they are “looking into” the situation.

WoS/World of Sport Episode 3 aired earlier this evening on ITV 1. The main event featured the WoS Champion Rampage defending his title against a very worthy opponent in Justin Sysum plus we had the continuation of the Tag Team Championship tournament.

Martin Kirby b. Joe Hendry – Kirby took the pinfall win whilst using the ropes for leverage, this feud is far from over

WOS Tag Team Championship Tournament Quarter Final Match – BT Gunn & Stevie Boy b. CJ Banks & Brad Slayer – The two ICW veterans Gunn and Stevie Boy took the pinfall win to advance in the tournament, they will face ‘Superbad’ Kip Sabian and Iestyn Rees

Crater b. Gabriel Kidd – Crater took the win after hitting a standing splash, Kidd was then taken out on a stretcher

WOS Championship match – Rampage (w/ Sha Samuels & CJ Banks) b. Justin Sysum – Rampage took the win via count-out after CJ Banks held Sysum by the leg during the referee’s ten count
