Mick Foley Pushing For WWE To Sign UFC Champion Cris Cyborg

3

It looks like Mick Foley told Vince McMahon to keep his eye on one current UFC Champion.

Recently the WWE has shown interest in scooping up stars from the mixed martial arts (MMA) world. WWE inked Ronda Rousey to a professional wrestling contract earlier this year.

They have worked with former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar for the past several years now. Lesnar is currently WWE’s Universal Champion and is set for a title defense this weekend at SummerSlam.

There are also reports that WWE has signed former UFC fighter-turned-professional wrestling Matt Riddle. It’s pretty clear WWE enjoys bringing in mixed martial artists. So what’s one more name to the list?

WWE Hall Of Famer Mick Foley recently spoke to TMZ Sports on the matter. During the interview, it was revealed that Mick Foley told Vince McMahon to keep his eye on current UFC champion Cris Cyborg.

Cyborg is currently the women’s featherweight champion for the MMA promotional juggernaut. She’s preparing for a possible superfight with UFC women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes.

Foley revealed that he has actually been keeping in touch with Cyborg as of late:

“I’ve been trading messages with her the past few nights. I saw she was in New Jersey and so I’m going to be attending a viewing party with Cris Cyborg.”

Cyborg has a history with current WWE star Ronda Rousey. Although they never fought, Cyborg and Rousey traded barbs with one another thought the MMA media for several years.

Both women were at the top of the sport during their heyday. Cyborg is still in the midst of a lengthy undefeated streak. As for Rousey, it looks like her time in the Octagon has come to an end:

“You never know. I had a meeting with Mr. McMahon and I told him ‘Keep your eye on this Cyborg-Nunes fight. She’s gonna be larger than life.’

“I think she’d be great – I think she’d make a great WWE Superstar down the line, but she’s concentrating first and foremost on this superfight and I think it’s going to be one of the biggest fights in UFC history.”

Tessa Blanchard Reveals Her All Time Favorite Wrestler

1

IMPACT Wrestling star Tessa Blanchard has a bright future with the promotion after signing a longterm deal.

Blanchard is a third generation wrestler. Her father is WWE Hall Of Famer Tully Blanchard and her grandfather is NWA legend Joe Blanchard. Since beginning her training back in 2014, Blanchard has done work for various promotions.

She has made several appearances on WWE TV, worked for World Wonder Ring Stardom and The Crash. She currently serves as the Women’s Champion for the latter and is also in her first reign with the IMPACT Knockouts Title.

Blanchard spoke to Icon Versus Icon recently and discussed several professional wrestling topics. During the conversation, Blanchard was asked about who her favorite wrestler of all time is.

She named former NWA star Johnny Valentine as her all time favorite. Blanchard also expressed interest in sharing the ring with Gail Kim. She called Kim “one of the best women’s wrestlers in the world!”:

“My favorite wrestler of all-time is Johnny Valentine. I believe him to be the best bad guy ever in wrestling and he is my absolute favorite.

“Actually, recently I had a conversation with Greg Valentine about this at WrestleCon Mania Weekend in New Orleans. Female-wise, one person that I really, really, really would like to share the ring with is Gail Kim.

“I say that because I believe her to be one of the best women’s wrestlers in the world!”

More On Lawsuit Between Randy Orton’s Tattoo Artist & WWE/2K Sports

11

We have an update in regards to the lawsuit between Randy Orton’s tattoo artist & WWE/2K Sports.

Several months ago Orton’s tattoo artist, Catherine Alexander, filed a lawsuit against the companies. She alleged they used her original tattoo designs on the WWE 2K video game without her permission.

In full, Alexander is suing WWE, Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc., 2K Games, Inc., 2K Sports, Inc., Visual Concepts Entertainment, Yuke’s Co., Ltd. and Yuke’s LA Inc.

Attempt To Dismiss The Case

Previously, both WWE and 2K Sports attempted to have the suit dismissed. Alexander filed the lawsuit in the United States District Court of Southern District of Illinois. However, WWE is headquartered out of Connecticut.

As a result, WWE argued the United States District Court of Southern District of Illinois doesn’t hold jurisdiction over them.

PWInsider reports that Alexander responded by saying “the court does not have personal jurisdiction over each entity because they chose specifically to aim their alleged infringement of her copyrighted work directly in the State of Illinois and because when previously contacted, WWE offered her a payment of $450 for the rights. ”

The response also included copies of six copyright applications for the assorted designs. They dated back to March of 2018. The court has ordered that all findings in regards to the case wrap up by January 7th.

A settlement conference has been scheduled for April 16th.

Report: WoS Ratings for Episode 3 on ITV, Could The Show Be Cancelled?

4

WoS/World of Sport held their third episode this weekend on ITV and the ratings for the show appear to have been released.

The first week’s numbers released by an ‘insider’ at the DigitalSpy website were instantly refuted by a production staff member at ITV. These latest numbers for the August 11th episode have again been revealed by a user at the DigitalSpy forum however these do not appear to have yet been disputed.

Here’s the reported number:

  • 17:00 – WOS Wrestling: 539k (4.9% share)

Last week’s number after being ‘tapechecked’ was around 584k with a 6.6% share. You may remember that the debut show number was around 924k with a height of around 1.2 million viewers.

Before looking what these numbers mean it is important to consider how the rest of Saturday night UK television performed, including the return of the Premier League on BT Sport:

ITV

  • 16:00 – The Chase: 946k (10.2%)
  • 17:00 – WOS Wrestling: 539k (4.9%)
  • 18:00 – ITV Evening News: 1.53m (11.9%)
  • 18:15 – ITV Regional News: 1.82m (13.7%)
  • 18:30 – Japandemonium: 1.22m (9.1%)
  • 19:00 – Big Star’s Little Star: 2.76m (18.3%)

BBC One

  • 16:30 – Final Score: 1.75m (18.1%)
  • 17:10 – BBC News: 2.21m (21.0%)
  • 17:20 – BBC Regional News: 2.55m (23.1%)
  • 16:30 – European Championships 2018: 797k (7.9%)

Sky Sports

  • 17:15 – EFL Derby County vs Leeds United: 280k (2.0%)

BT Sport 1

  • 17:00 – Live Wolves v Everton: 546k (4.2%)

Fans in the UK will no doubt know the impact of football (soccer) on sports fans in this part of the world. Whilst the numbers posted for BT Sport are marginally more than ITV at the 5pm time slot BT is a pay per view channel and Everton vs Wolves is not a marquee match by any stretch, next week will feature Chelsea vs Arsenal which is a FAR bigger event that casual football fans will watch. The Sky Sports number is also interesting as it featured a match from a lower league (The Championship) and again is a premium channel.

The real worry is the huge drop in viewership from the 4pm slot on ITV at 946k for gameshow The Chase (which ironically features a huge wrestling fan as one of the regulars) and whilst the jump to 1.53 million for the ITV News is expected it is again eyebrow raising compared to the preceding content.

The question at this point must be “will WoS be cancelled?” As a fan of the UK scene it was important, but not imperative, that this project worked. There was already a thriving scene in the region before WoS and there still will be if and when the show has moved on. In terms of promotion for the programme there has not been anywhere near the exposure and marketing drive that people would expect for a national programme. Whilst the number does appear to have shelved at the 500k mark at the very least there appears to be an audience (although this is difficult to confirm after just 3 weeks).

The Wrestling Observer claimed that ITV would be making the decision on WoS after 3 episodes and whilst this is pure speculation and not confirmed these numbers cannot really be spun in a truly positive light. Next week’s episode will see the return of Will Ospreay and the WoS Women’s Champion Kay Lee Ray, so hopefully there can be some bounce back for WoS but as previously mentioned there will be strong opposition from the Premier League evening game.

Ronda Rousey Says Expected WWE Fans To Reject Her

5

When Ronda Rousey first debuted in WWE she was worried fans would not support her. Although she has had her share of detractors throughout her career, the WWE Universe has been largely supportive and enthusiastic for Rousey’s pro-wrestling career.

“I really was not expecting it at all,” Rousey said to the associated press of the support she’s received from wrestling fans. “The WWE universe is very protective of their love and their art and they don’t want people flippantly coming in and disrespecting it and trying to capitalize off of it.”

Rousey would continue to talk about how she wanted to win over the fans’ respect.

“I wanted the WWE universe to know that this is something that is just as important to me as it is to them, and this isn’t a ‘get rich quick’ scheme for me,” she continued. “This is something I really, really care about and want to contribute to. Like, I really, really want the WWE to be better off because I was part of it, and I would love for that to come across to the fans as well.”

Ronda Rousey on Childhood Battle With Hypoxia

Rousey also spoke on how judo helped in her in her childhood battle with hypoxia, a condition which hinders speech.

“I had a speech/motor disorder called hypoxia growing up,” Rousey said. “It was very difficult for me to speak, so the way that I enjoy being able to communicate and interact with people is physically.”

“I was very shy to make friends and things like that, she continued. “If you’re doing something with somebody it’s easier to make friends.”

New Japan Stars Confirmed for Rev Pro TV Tapings

0

Revolution Pro Wrestling (Rev Pro) are heading to the world famous York Hall in Bethnal Green, London on September 5th to film two nights of ‘International Wrestling’ for an as yet unconfirmed TV programme.

The company posted a tweet earlier this past weekend with the caption “Be A Part Of History” featuring one of their own premiere performers and New Japan Pro Wrestling star Zack Sabre Jr.

Rev Pro has now seemingly confirmed 3 more New Japan Pro Wrestling stars for the upcoming tapings having posted a tweet with NJPW’s Roppongi 3K team. Sho, Yoh and Rocky Romero do appear to be heading to the World Famous York Hall this September…hopefully more New Japan stars will be joining them.

Earlier this week Rev Pro owner and promoter, Andy Quildan, acknowledged the workload RPW have just shouldered but are unafraid of carrying: “When you passionately believe in something and an opportunity like this comes along you take it. No matter how much work you’ve just created for yourself. Come and join us as we make history.”

When asked for further details on the tapings via Twitter, Andy had this to say in regards to the surprise announcement via the Rev Pro account: “For now all you need to know is we will be presenting wrestling our way, with no compromises and we need all of you to play your part in that!”

Rey Mysterio Teases Huge NJPW Match

0

Rey Mysterio Jr. is expected to head to WWE soon but his post-match comments from the G1 Climax 28 final show indicate the luchador may have some unfinished business in NJPW still.

Mysterio has cleared his schedule for the latter part of September, which has led many to believe he’ll be WWE bound then or shortly after. He is still booked for Chris Jericho’s cruise at the end of October, however.

On Sunday, Mysterio teamed with KUSHIDA and Ryusuke Taguchi and defeated Kazuchika Okada and Roppongi 3K. Following the match, Mysterio indicated he’d like to face Okada in a single’s match.

Rey Mysterio Wants Single’s Match With Kazuchika Okada

“I would love to see a single’s match between Okada and Rey Mysterio Jr,” Mysterio said in the back. “Let’s see what happens. Thank you.”

Rey Mysterio Jr. NJPW

New Japan Pro-Wrestling kicks off their “Destruction” tours in September. Mysterio could face Okada in single’s action on any of the big Destruction shows on the tour.

Mysterio will also be in trios action at All In on September 1st. He will team with Fenix and Bandido to face the Young Bucks and Kota Ibushi. Although Cody will face Nick Aldis for the NWA title that night as well, some are saying the trios match could be the night’s main event.

Final Names Confirmed for Rev Pro British J Cup

0

Revolution Pro Wrestling (Rev Pro) has announced the final competitors for their upcoming British J Cup.

This will be the second iteration of the tournament, the debut field in 2017 included Jushin ‘Thunder’ Liger, Kushida, Will Ospreay, Marty Scurll, Kyle O’Reilly, Josh Bodom, Ryusuke Taguchi and Tiger Mask IV. This year’s tournament will be taking place from the Bowlers Exhibition Centre in Manchester, England on September 8th and 9th.

The newly confirmed competitors include:

  • New Japan Pro Wrestling’s KUSHIDA
  • Independent Star David Starr
  • Dean Allmark
  • Bandido

The final confirmed field of 16 is now as follows:

  • Rich Swann
  • Jushin Thunder Liger
  • SHO
  • YOH
  • Taguchi
  • Chris Ridgeway
  • Rocky Romero
  • El Phantasmo
  • Kyle Fletcher
  • KUSHIDA
  • David Starr
  • Dean Allmark
  • Bandido
  • Tiger Mask
  • Kurtis Chapman
  • Kyle Fletcher

Opinion: Some of the more unknown entities such as Kyle Fletcher (of the Aussie Open tag team), Kurtis Chapman, El Phantasmo and Chris Ridgeway will certainly be worth watching alongside the more established stars of New Japan and the Mexican scene. Rev Pro has a history of giving the younger Junior style performers a platform which includes the likes of Marty Scurll and Will Ospreay so this could be special. This could well be the launching pad for the likes of Chris Ridgeway who recently had a standout performance against KENOH in Ospreay’s Frontline Wrestling Promotion.

Hiroshi Tanahashi To Defend G1 Briefcase Against Kazuchika Okada & Jay White

1

The G1 Climax 28 winner, Hiroshi Tanahashi, has stated he will defend the briefcase against Kazuchika Okada and Jay White.

The winner of NJPW’s annual G1 tournament receives a briefcase with a contract for the title shot at WrestleKingdom inside. In recent years, the G1 winner has had to defend the briefcase before advancing to the Tokyo Dome. No G1 Winner has yet to lose the briefcase before WrestleKingdom, however.

Jay White was the only wrestler to defeat Tanahashi in the tournament while Okada and Tanahashi went to a 30-minute draw on the final night of the round-robin.

His post-match press conference comments were translated by the owner of PuroLove.com:

Hiroshi Tanahashi vs Kazuchika Okada

As it stands right now, Okada would have to either defeat Hiroshi Tanahashi for the G1 briefcase or Kenny Omega for the IWGP Heavyweight title in order to be in the main event of WrestleKingdom.

If Okada is not in the main event at WrestleKingdom 13 it will be the first time since WrestleKingdom 8 he hasn’t been.

Hiroshi Tanahashi vs Jay White

Tanahashi’s post-match comments centered more around Okada than they did Jay White. Still, as the only person to defeat Hiroshi Tanahashi in the G1, White will likely be given a shot at the briefcase.

White and his CHAOS stablemates have not been seeing eye-to-eye as of late. It’s unclear what White’s future with the faction is.

IPW:UK has also confirmed that the co-branded NOAH supercard has also changed venue, the company sent out the following message earlier today:

“PW Owner Billy Wood – ‘We are really proud to announce our new relationship which will take place with immediate affect with Mote Hall in Maidstone. Coming up to our anniversary it never sat well with me that our biggest shows were held in a venue that unfortunately due to the nature of the venue lacked disability access and unfortunately made attending the big IPW shows impossible for many. Back in December a fan travelled nearly 2 hours and took health risks to be able to see the show, the truth is that shouldn’t be happening and that moment has stuck with me ever since. With Mote Hall all fans will have access and with our Anniversary selling at the rate it is it’s vital we have a space which accommodates all. We really enjoyed our time at Casino Rooms but now it’s time for a change and with that change we celebrate the biggest weekend in IPW history. Anniversary XIV & IPW/NOAH Global Clash

Bobby Lashley Reflects On Being Mentored By Paul Heyman, His Main Roster Debut

6

Bobby Lashley has reflected on being mentored by Paul Heyman as well as making his debut on WWE SmackDown in 2005.

The former ECW Champion recently made an appearance on Chasing Glory with Lilian Garcia to talk about various topics including what Heyman told him just moments before making his main roster debut.

Lashley started out the story by stating that he wasn’t supposed to debut on that episode of the blue brand as there was nothing going on for him but rather he was just one of the OVW talents who were on the road with the main roster at the time and they allowed him to work a few dark matches at house shows.

This is when he was backstage and in catering when someone came up to him to tell him that he was working a match that night. He was taken back by that news then he walked over and there was Paul Heyman.

“As crazy as this is, he came and talked to me because he mentored me back in OVW when I was in OVW, he was a writer there and he was the one that talked to me and got to know me. He just walked over to me with that smug little grin that he always has on his face and looked at me and goes, ‘You nervous?’ and I was like, ‘Yeah I’m nervous, what are you talking about? There’s 17,000 people here! I just started wrestling!’

Lashley continued the story by stating that Heyman told him that the only thing that messes you up is this whole anticipation act. He noted that Heyman told him once they call his name, then he will have to go out and will do great. Heyman reassured that he is going to be excited then once coming back from the ring, he would think about ‘man why did I kill myself before?’ Lashley added that if you can handle this stuff now, the rest is easy.

The WWE RAW Superstar brought up his future goals in the WWE where he stated that he wanted to be a household name and future hall of famer in wrestling as he wants to pay his dues, travel the world and have an impact on people while he wins titles and set records.

Lashley added that “I want to have the respect from some of the people that I wrestled with and say, ‘You know what, I really enjoyed wrestling with Bobby.’ I want to have the fans come and say, ‘You know what, that was awesome what he did. He left, came back 10 years later and still was on the top, still set records, and was able to get back afterwards.’”

Lashley also talked about being portrayed as a heel, his love for pro wrestling and much more. You can listen to the full episode here:

Alexa Bliss Discusses Potential Dream Match At WWE Evolution, Facing Ronda Rousey

0

Alexa Bliss has two names in mind as potential opponents at the upcoming WWE Evolution PPV event.

The WWE Raw Women’s Champion recently spoke with Hollywood Life to talk about various topics including if there is a match type or opponent that she wants to face at this event. Bliss stated that she would love to be in the ring with Trish Stratus or Lita or anyone from the past because she wasn’t able to have that opportunity at the Women’s Royal Rumble because she was the champion at the time.

“If I could be in the ring with someone from the Royal Rumble that would be awesome to have that opportunity!”

Former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey has her next big match under the WWE banner set as she is slated to challenge Bliss for the title at the upcoming SummerSlam pay-per-view event. When asked about her gameplan, she noted that she had many different opponents in the past two years such as Sasha Banks, Nia Jax, and Bayley as they have their own unique style.

My plan with Ronda is that I know her style, and I have watched her style. I kind of see the flaws in it. What I use to expose it will be the reason I capitalize on any opportunity I can.”

Triple H Calls Tegan Nox Injury “Heartbreaking”

1

Its been a rough go for Tegan Nox in WWE. Last week, she suffered an injury during her Mae Young Classic match with Rhea Ripley.

The injury was particularly disheartening because it’s the second year in a row that her Mae Young Classic hopes were dashed due to injury. After signing with WWE in early 2017, she was forced to withdraw from last year’s MYC due to a torn ACL she suffered before the tournament began.

WWE COO Triple H ESPN about the situation, which he called heartbreaking.

“Tegan, to me is this story of, you know, last year we really wanted her to be in the tournament and she had the ACL injury that prevented her from being in it,” he said.

Nox was out of action for the remainder of 2017 recovering from that knee injury. After all the hard work it took for her to be medically cleared, tragedy struck again.

“To come here and be in a position to where, let me just say, it couldn’t have been any more heartbreaking for her. Emotionally, just couldn’t have been any more heartbreaking. I don’t know, at this point, what happened. She landed funky on a dive and hurt herself.”

Following her injury, Nox posted a message on Twitter explaining that she will not be deterred by injuries. “Freak accidents happen, it’s part of the job,” she said.

https://twitter.com/TeganNoxWWE_/status/1027804630963691520

Nox showed tremendous fortitude getting back in ring shape for this year’s tournament. This is another bad setback, but hopefully it will motivates her to get back in a WWE ring.

In case you missed it last week, check out Mae Young Classic Results (Spoilers) to find out how the tournament unfolded and who will wrestle in the finals at WWE Revolution.

Kevin Owens On WWE Getting New Universal Champion

It’s possible the WWE Universe has a new Universal Champion after this weekend. Current title-holder Brock Lesnar will defend his strap against Roman Reigns at SummerSlam. The pay-per-view (PPV) will go down Sunday from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

On the other hand, Kevin Owens will be challenging Braun Strowman for the Money In The Bank (MITB) briefcase. Its been speculated that the winner could have an impact on Reigns’ and Lesnar’s match.

Owens cut a promo at a WWE live event in Roanoke, Virginia over the weekend. He said in one week we’ll have a new Universal Champion. “KO” didn’t note exactly who that would be. Perhaps he’s teasing that he’ll leave New York as the new Universal Champion?

Update On Brock Lesnar’s Status For Tonight’s RAW

4

We have an update on Brock Lesnar’s status for tonight’s episode of Monday Night RAW.

“The Beast” will defend his Universal Championship at SummerSlam against Roman Reigns this weekend. It will be the fourth time the pair have matched up for a WWE World Championship.

“The Biggest Party Of The Summer” takes place Sunday, August 19th, from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Tonight’s episode of RAW will be the go-home show before the pay-per-view (PPV).

Lesnar is not advertised to make an appearance tonight. Despite this, Cageside Seats reports that “The Beast” is in fact scheduled to appear. It will be interesting to see if Lesnar interacts with Reigns before their meeting this weekend.

Also, it will be interesting to see the dynamic between Lesnar and Heyman heading into SummerSlam. Last time Lesnar was on WWE TV he attacked both RAW General Manager Kurt Angle and Heyman.

The storyline has led many to speculate that Heyman could turn on Lesnar this weekend, costing him the Universal Title in the process. The winner of Braun Strowman and Kevin Owens’ Money In The Bank (MITB) briefcase match is also speculated to have an impact on the match.

RAW Preview: B-Team Title Defense, Heyman Renee Young

0

Tonight’s edition of WWE Raw takes place from Greensboro, North Carolina at the historic Greensboro Coliseum. This is the final Raw before SummerSlam on Sunday.

WWE is advertising the following items for the show:

– RAW Tag Team Champions The B-Team will defend against “Woken” Matt Hardy & Bray Wyatt and The Revival in a triple threat match.

– Renee Young will serve as a guest commentator alongside Michael Cole and Corey Graves.

– SummerSlam contract signing for Dolph Ziggler’s Intercontinental championship defense against Seth Rollins.

– Paul Heyman left the WWE Universe hanging last week during his sit-down interview with Renee Young. In an unaired clip that was released later in the week, Heyman teased that there was one way that Roman Reigns could dethrone Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam. Does Brock Lesnar has a weakness that has yet to be exploited, or is there something “deeper” to Heyman’s cryptic remark?

– Will Braun Strowman be able to keep his composure ahead of his match with Kevin Owens at SummerSlam?

Natalya vs. Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss had been scheduled, but this will probably not take place due to the passing of Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart.

Samoa Joe Sounds Off On Who He Thinks Are Best Talkers In WWE History

11

Samoa Joe has shared his thoughts on who he thinks are the best talkers in the longstanding history of the WWE.

The former WWE NXT champion was recently interviewed by Vulture Hound in order to promote SummerSlam. During the interview, this is when he was asked who he thinks are some of the best promo wrestlers in history.

Joe brought up that he likes wrestlers who are good at promos for a lot of different reasons as he noted that when it came to eliciting a reaction from an audience, he thinks of WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair as someone who is constantly up there due to the fact that when you talk about speaking with passion and being able to get emotion out of fans with his words and his body language, it’s him.

Joe continued by stating, “And you know, there’s other guys. I think Mick Foley, Mankind, had a brilliant delivery. Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts, he’s also got…you know, when people look back and they understand nuanced abilities as far as promos come, he’s one of those guys. But the list is long.”

Joe is slated to challenge WWE Champion AJ Styles for the strap at the SummerSlam PPV on Sunday, August 19, 2018 in Brooklyn, New York at the Barclays Center that will air on the WWE Network.

Check out the complete interview at VultureHound.co.uk. Also, remember to join us here at SEScoops.com this Sunday evening for live results coverage of this year’s WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view.

Tessa Blanchard Explains Why She Decided To Join Impact Wrestling

1

Tessa Blanchard recently did an interview where she talked about various topics such as her professional wrestling career, who the best female wrestler is in her opinion and more.

While speaking with Icon Versus Icon, Blanchard explained why she chose Impact Wrestling to start her wrestling career. It should be noted that she started wrestling in 2014 on the independent scene.

Blanchard brought up the fact that she had a conversation with herself where she told herself that she has goals and purpose where she wanted to build upon what her grandfather, father, and stepfather did in this business

“I want to do that while making a name for myself. To make a name for myself, I feel it’s important for me to establish myself before I go anywhere else. Impact has given me the platform, exposure and access to the tools and teachers to do that.”

She added that she’s grateful for that and is learning so much as she continues to hone her skills and take it to the next level.

“I feel like this is a great place for me right now. It feels good. It’s a good locker room and a good production.”

Enzo Amore Says He’ll Never Wrestle Again

17

Don’t expect to see Enzo Amore and Big Cass Cazz reunited on the independent scene. TMZ cameras caught up with Enzo over the weekend and asked him when we’ll be seeing him back in the ring.  He didn’t mince words.

Enzo says he will never wrestle again, no matter how much money he is offered. He plans to focus on his music and acting careers and won’t be wrestling again “in a million years.”

“There ain’t nobody who’s got enough money to put me back in the ring, kid. Not unless it’s ‘Creed 3’ dog and I’m fighting [Adonis Creed].”

Enzo, now known as Real1, says he’s tirelessly working on a rap album. The album, which does not have a release date yet, will be titled, “Rosemary’s Baby.” He claims it will feature some big cameos. Enzo Amore released two rap music videos earlier this year.

Jim Neidhart Has Passed Away

31

We are saddened to report the passing of wrestling legend Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart. He was 63 years old. Jim Neidhart was the father of WWE Superstar Natalya. He was a 2-time WWF tag team champion as part of the Hart Foundation with Bret Hart.

Jim Neidhart earned the “Anvil” nickname in high school by setting records in shot put. He would later play in the National Football League (NFL) with the Oakland Raiders and Dallas Cowboys. In 1979, Neidhart became a professional wrestler after undergoing his training at the hands of Stu Hart in the legendary Dungeon.

After some time in Japan, Neidhart signed on with the WWF in 1985 and was paired with a young Bret “The Hitman” Hart in the Hart Foundation tag team. Known by their bright pink ring gear, the Hart Foundation became two-time WWF Tag Team Champions.

When Bret began his singles career, Neidhart stuck with him and eventually Brian Pillman, The British Bulldog Davey Boy Smith and Bret’s younger brother Owen joined the stable and the Hart Foundation became one of the premiere groups in wrestling leading into the Attitude Era.

Later years saw Neidhart struggle with his health and personal problems. He was arrested in 2010 and charged with possession of controlled substances. He also attended two stints in WWE-sponsored rehab and was last seen on the reality show Total Divas with his daughter, WWE Superstar Natalya.

We send our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart.

SmackDown 1,000 Details Announced

6

WWE has announced preliminary information regarding the SmackDown 1,000 special that is coming up in a matter of months.

The historic 1,000 episode of SmackDown Live takes place on Tuesday, October 16th from Washington, D.C. at the Capital One Arena. No further details have been announced at this time. That said, you can expect to see a stacked show with cameos from SmackDown legends.

WWE Chairman Vince McMahon was quoted in the announcement. “One thousand episodes is a tremendous milestone reinforcing the longevity and popularity of WWE,” he said. “But it’s only the beginning, and the best is yet to come for SmackDown.”

WWE is touting that SmackDown helped ‘launch the careers’ of ‘pop-culture icons’ such as The Rock, Steve Austin, The Undertaker, John Cena, Triple H and the Bella Twins. Most of the names on that list were wrestling long before the creation of SmackDown, but that’s only a minor detail.

Tickets for SmackDown 1,000 will be available this Friday morning (8/17) at Ticketmaster, the Capital One Arena box office or by calling 1-800-745-3000.

WWE SmackDown premiered back in 1999 at the height of WWE’s Attitude Era. The show averages approximately 2.9 million viewers on the USA Network. It is also one of the longest running episodic shows in television history.

SmackDown Live moves to the FOX broadcast network in October 2019. That deal with Fox Sports will generate more than $1 billion for WWE over a 5-year period.
