Bruno Sammartino Has Passed Away

28

The life of Bruno Sammartino won’t soon be forgotten.

Sammartino died today (April 18) at the age of 82. WWE made the announcement this morning. Sammartino leaves behind his wife Carol and their three sons.

It’s almost an understatement to call Sammartino a legend. He is the longest reigning WWE champion and nobody comes close to the length of his combined reigns. He held the championship for 2,803. His second reign was shorter, but he still maintained gold for a whopping 1,237 days.

This record is unlikely to be broken as times have changed. During his prime, Sammartino carried the World Wide Wrestling Federation on his back. He eventually had a falling out with Vince McMahon over the direction that the industry was going in.

To the surprise of many, Sammartino accepted a WWE Hall of Fame invitation in 2013. The WWE made numerous attempts in the past for obvious reasons. It isn’t much of a pro wrestling Hall of Fame if Sammartino isn’t inducted.

The timing couldn’t be any better. The 2013 Hall of Fame ceremony was held inside Madison Square Garden in New York City. It was in that building where Sammartino tore the house down with many other wrestlers who would also become legends.

We here at SEScoops.com send our condolences to the family of Bruno Sammartino.

Triple H Comments on Carmella, Peyton Royce, & Billie Kay

6

Triple H has a soft spot for performers who came through NXT and the WWE Developmental system. One of those performers is Carmella, who last week successfully cashed in her Money in the Bank briefcase and defeated Charlotte Flair.

In two months it will be exactly 5 years since WWE signed Carmella. She signed as a 27-year-old after having worked as a New England Patriots cheerleader for 3 seasons and a Laker Girl for one. She is the daughter of former WWE enhancement talent, Paul Van Dale.

Carmella won the first two women’s Money in the Bank matches last summer. The first match ended when her former valet, James Ellsworth, detached the briefcase and dropped it down to her. After a second match was scheduled, Carmella found a way to win that as well. Now, she’s a World Champion.

Disappointment is often the thing that propels you forward. took every opportunity presented and cashed in on hard work. Ms. Money in the Bank is now Ms. Women’s Champion.

the Iiconics: Peyton Royce and Billie Kay

The weeks after WrestleMania is always an important time for call-ups to the main roster. While Carmella may now be a World Champion, other NXT stars are just getting their starts on either Raw or Smackdown.

Two performers from NXT who debuted on the main roster recently are the Iiconics, Peyton Royce & Billie Kay. The duo are former high school friends from Sydney, Australia who both followed the same paths to the company. The team started in NXT in 2015 and made their main roster debuts on the Smackdown after Mania last week. Triple H also posted about their debuts on the main roster.

From their debut in , and have always brought something to the Universe. Proud to see how far they’ve both come and excited to see how far they will go! – Triple H on the Iiconics

Goldberg On The Ending Of Asuka’s Undefeated Streak

18

Asuka had surpassed Goldberg’s undefeated winnig streak back in May last year when she was still in NXT and the former World Champion had praised the Empress of Tomorrow on her achievement.

During a latest interview with The New York Post, Goldberg talked about many things including the possibility of having one more match and he also commented on her streak getting broken at WrestleMania 34.

The former WCW Star claimed that he felt bad for Asuka when the streak ended at the Show of Shows but he also said that it was done properly and now the pressure has been taken off the former NXT Star:

“I felt bad for her. It’s a really cool accomplishment. It’s unbelievable, but there comes a time when you kind of question its tenure and when is it the right time to break it. Who is the right person to break it? I think it was done properly. I think the pressure has been taken off of her.”

Goldberg’s undefeated streak ran for 173 wins before it was broken by Kevin Nash at the Starrcade event in 1998. Asuka surpassed this record after she defeated Bianca Blair at an NXT Live event back in May last year.

The former NXT Women’s Champion continued her streak on the main roster for several months before she was defeated by Charlotte Flair during the SmackDown Women’s Championship match at WrestleMania 34 earlier this month.

Former World Champion Removed From Greatest Royal Rumble

7

It was said before that WWE is considering the upcoming Greatest Royal Rumble to be an all hands on the deck show and the company is trying to bring every A-list star they can for the Live Event.

They have proven these reports to be true since then as Officials have added people like John Cena, Undertaker, Chris Jericho and Triple H to the list of stars wrestling at the show, making it a must watch event.

Though now the company has suffered a small set back as they have removed a former World Champion from the updated lineup of the Greatest Royal Rumble.

WWE has removed The Big Red Monster Kane, who was originally announced to be part of the 50 Men Battle Royal at the event, from the upcoming show.

While no reason for his removal was given it’s believed to be Republican Primary for mayor of Knox County which Kane is running for, as it takes place only a few days after the event.

As we noted before Rusev has been added back in the Casket match against the Undertaker, and as a result, Former World Champion Chris Jericho is once again listed as a participant of the Battle Royal.

After these revelations, here is the updated line up for the 50 Men Battle Royal taking place at the event later this month:

Daniel Bryan, Braun Strowman, Big Show, Kurt Angle, Elias, Baron Corbin, Big E, Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods, Apollo, Titus O’Neil, Shelton Benjamin, Chad Gable, Sin Cara, Goldust, Mojo Rawley, Dolph Ziggler, Chris Jericho.

Here are 6 takeaways from this week’s show:

Daniel Bryan Saved AJ Styles

daniel bryan aj styles smackdown 4 17

WWE Champion AJ Styles kicked off tonight’s episode of SmackDown. AJ stated that you can tell a lot about a man through his failures and I think we have learned everything we need to know about Shinsuke Nakamura. Styles added that Shinsuke is not just an artist, he is a con artist. Dueling “AJ Styles!” and “Nakamura!” chants broke out in the crowd.

Styles stated that he should have been celebrating last week, but all he could think about was retribution on Nakamura. AJ added that Nakamura showed his true colors once again last week when he ruined another dream match against Daniel Bryan. AJ demanded that Nakamura come down to the ring and fight him.

Aiden English and Rusev came down to the entrance ramp. English asked the crowd what day it was and everyone chanted “Rusev Day!”. AJ challenged Rusev to a fight and said that Nakamura doesn’t have a spine. AJ Styles and Rusev then had an incredibly short match. Styles locked in the Calf Crusher right away and Aiden English attacked Styles from behind for the DQ.

English and Rusev continued the beatdown after the match was over. Daniel Bryan ran down to the ring for the save and fought them both off. AJ Styles and Bryan then stood tall in the ring as Rusev and English retreated. SmackDown GM Paige then announced Daniel Bryan & Styles versus Rusev & English in the main event.

Daniel Bryan was interviewed backstage later in the night and was asked why he helped AJ Styles tonight. Bryan said that the reason was simple, he respected AJ Styles. Big Cass then interrupted and called Daniel Bryan “little man”.

Opinion: The crowd once again displayed that they were behind Rusev Day during this segment. They clearly want to cheer for Rusev, but WWE keeps insisting that the fans boo him. It is frustrating to watch and WWE is missing a great opportunity here with Rusev.

Jeff Hardy Joined The SmackDown Roster

Shelton Benjamin came down to the ring and claimed that his Twitter account was hacked last night and that he didn’t send the complimentary tweet towards Chad Gable. Benjamin said that he never needed Gable and that he needs the title opportunities that he is owed. Benjamin stated that he had a conversation with Paige backstage and asked her to send him some big competition.

Randy Orton’s music hit, but he was quickly interrupted by new United States Champion Jeff Hardy. Orton smirked as Hardy got into the ring and had a match with Shelton Benjamin. Shelton controlled the match early as SmackDown went to a commercial break.

When SmackDown returned, Hardy connected with a Clothesline and both Superstars fell to the mat. Benjamin crotched Hardy on the top turnbuckle and followed it up with a running knee to the face. Jeff connected with a Whisper in the Wind off the top for a two count. Shelton connected with a spin kick to the face and went for the cover, but Jeff was able to kick out at the last second.

Jeff then connected with the Twist of Fate and followed it up with the Swanton Bomb for the pinfall victory.

The Bludgeon Brothers Showed The Usos Some Mercy

Harper faced Jey Uso tonight on SmackDown. Jimmy Uso accompanied Jey to the ring as Rowan was also ringisde for the match. Harper defeated Jey with ease after planted him with a Discus Clothesline.

After the match, the Bludgeon Brothers beatdown The Usos and grabbed their mallets. Naomi rang down to the ring to check on her husband, Jimmy Uso, and begged The Bludgeon Brothers to stop. Harper and Rowan then backed away and retreated up the entrance ramp.

Samoa Joe Joined The SmackDown Roster

Samoa Joe joined the SmackDown roster tonight during WWE’s Superstar Shake-Up. He came down to the ring to a great reaction to face Sin Cara.

Joe connected with a series of knees, but Sin Cara battled back with a springboard elbow to the face. Samoa Joe got right back up and hit a couple of jabs to Sin Cara’s face. Joe then decked Sin Cara with a chop to the chest.

Sin Cara targetted Joe’s knee with a couple of kicks. Joe shrugged them off and unloaded some massive punches to Sin Cara. Joe then locked in the Coquina Clutch for the easy submission victory.

After the match, Samoa Joe grabbed the microphone and said that the SmackDown roster has had things easy because he hasn’t been on the roster. Joe added that he is here now and that he will get all the oppurtinities. Joe vowed to put Daniel Bryan to sleep, take down Randy Orton and emasculate AJ Styles. Joe promised to destroy whatever is left of Roman Reigns at Backlash. Joe added that if Reigns somehow wins the Universal Championship at WWE Greatest Royal Rumble, he will will tear it from his waist at Backlash.

Joe will face Roman Reigns at WWE Backlash and has mocked Reigns for his failures against Brock Lesnar. Brock Lesnar will defend his Universal Championship against Roman Reigns in a Steel Cage Match at WWE Greatest Royal Rumble on April 27th.

Asuka Is On SmackDown

asuka smackdown 4 17

Carmella came down to the ring to celebrate becoming SmackDown Women’s Champion. Carmella mocked the crowd for chanting “you deserve it!” and said that she didn’t need their approval. She added that she waited for the perfect time to take her rightful spot on the top of the women’s division.

Carmella then cackled in the ring after bragging about defeating Charlotte Flair. She then raised the title and claimed that her cash in last week was historic. Carmella claimed that last week will go down as “biggest moment in all of women’s history”. Carmella then rolled a video tribute to herself.

She then referred to the SmackDown Women’s Championship as “Cleopatra”. Charlotte Flair interrupted and came down to the entrance ramp as the crowd chanted “woo!”. Charlotte stated that the only reason that Carmella had the MITB briefcase was because of James Ellsworth and that she only was able to cash in because of Billie Kay and Peyton Royce.

Charlotte congratulated Carmella on cashing in on an opportunity. Flair stated that it is much easier to get to the top than to stay at the top. Billie Kay & Peyton Royce (The IIconics) interrupted and called Charlotte pathetic for blaming them. Peyton Royce imitated Charlotte and pretended she was a “cranky-poo” baby.

Flair leaped off the ring apron and charged at Royce and Kay. The IIconics teamed up on Charlotte and beat her down. Becky Lynch’s music hit and Becky rushed down the ramp for the save. A bunch of referees separated them as SmackDown went to a commercial break.

When SmackDown returned, Charlotte and Billie Kay were in the middle of a match. Becky Lynch and Peyton Royce were ringside as Carmella took a seat next to the announce table. Charlotte won the match, but was attacked by Carmella and Peyton Royce after the match. They also beatdown Becky Lynch in the corner.

Asuka’s music hit and Asuka sprinted to the ring. Asuka booted Billie Kay in the face and then planted Peyton Royce with a Suplex. Asuka, Becky Lynch and Charlotte stood tall in the ring as Carmella retreated up the entrance ramp.

Opinion: I think both Asuka and Samoa Joe will benefit from being on SmackDown. Samoa Joe will lose to Reigns at WWE Backlash, but will most likely become a bigger star on Tuesday nights. I’m already looking forward to the matches between Joe, Bryan and Styles. Asuka needs to be built up once again after WWE ended her streak at WrestleMania 34.

Big Cass & Nakamura Ruined The Main Event

big cass daniel bryan smackdown 4 17

AJ Styles & Daniel Bryan battled Rusev & Aiden English in the main event of tonight’s episode of SmackDown. The match started out back and forth as SmackDown went to a commercial break.

When SmackDown returned, Aiden English was in control of AJ Styles. Rusev tagged in and continued the beatdown of Styles in the corner. AJ tried to escape and tag in Bryan, but Rusev blocked him and slammed him into the turnbuckle.

English tagged in and connected with a Clothesline for a two count. Styles finally battled back and tagged in Daniel Bryan as the crowd erupted. Rusev tagged in at the same time and Bryan greeted him with a couple of punches to the face. Bryan leveled Rusev with a Clothesline and got fired up.

Bryan connected with a Dropkick in the corner and then dragged Rusev to the mat for the Yes Lock. Aiden English leaped into the ring to break up the submission. Bryan threw English out of the ring and then hit Rusev with a few Yes Kicks. Daniel Bryan connected with a knee to the face as Shinsuke Nakamura delivered a low-blow to AJ Styles on the ring apron.

Big Cass then got into the ring and booted Daniel Bryan in the face. Big Cass raised his fist in the ring as Nakamura taunted AJ on the outside. Big Cass’ new theme hit as he stood over Bryan in the ring.

Renee Young approached Shinsuke Nakamura on the entrance ramp and asked him why he attacked AJ Styles again. Nakamura once again said “no speak English” as SmackDown went off the air.

https://twitter.com/totaldivaseps/status/986424845834563585

Opinion: I am enjoying Shinsuke Nakamura as a heel and am looking forward to seeing where his storyline goes with AJ Styles. As for Big Cass, WWE was pushing him before his injury last year. Cass made his return tonight and took out fan favorite Daniel Bryan. I always Cass that he was a little wooden and boring with his promos when he was feuding with Enzo last year. I am hoping that Bryan can bring the best out of him and get the crowd to despise him. Tonight was a good start for Big Cass in his return and hopefully that continues.

Charlotte vs. Billie Kay: This one was made a match during the commercial break and is already underway. They brawl out to ringside early on, while Peyton and Becky cheer on from ringside, and Carmella is at the broadcast table. Flair sends Billie into the ring post, then takes her back on the mat. Billie starts mounting a comeback and is now keeping Charlotte grounded. Peyton hits a cheap shot on Charlotte behind the ref’s back, and Becky runs over to chase off Peyton. Flair drops Billie with a knee, but Billie comes back with a suplex. Charlotte fights back with chops and unloadsd with strikes. Charlotte looks to finish it but Billie escapes and drops Charlotte. They trade roll-up attempts and counters until Charlotte hits a big boot to the face. Flair locks in the Figure Eight for the win.

Winner: Charlotte Flair

– After the match, Carmella attacks Charlotte until Becky gets in the ring for the save. The Icons hit the ring now and take out Becky. Carmella recovers and joins in on the beat-down on Becky and Charlotte. The music hits and the latest member to join SmackDown comes out for the save: Asuka. Asuka hits the ring and Carmella retreats. Asuka drops Peyton and Billie, then stands tall with Charlotte and Becky.

– We see a video package announcing that Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson are coming to SmackDown.

– The New Day is shown backstage and they run in to R-Truth, who has supposedly been traded to SmackDown. Tye Dillinger walks up to Truth and they do a hand shake and smile. Truth says he’s glad to be on RAW now with these guys. They inform him that this is SmackDown, not RAW. Truth says “my bad” and walks off. Truth says he’ll see them tomorrow, and The New Day and Dillinger look concerned about Truth.

– The announcers discuss the Superstar Shakeup changes, and then announce that Andrade Almas and Zelina Vega are also headed to SmackDown soon.

AJ Styles & Daniel Bryan vs. Rusev & Aiden English: Bryan and English start things off with a lock up, and fans are already chanting for Bryan. Bryan gets the upper hand and unloads with strikes on English. Bryan puts English in a surfboard before tagging in AJ. AJ comes off the top onto English and continues to beat on him. English starts mounting a comeback, as the fans duel chants for both teams. AJ hits a gutbuster on Aiden, which prompts Rusev to run in and Bryan to run in and stop Rusev. AJ puts English in the Calf Crusher and Bryan puts Rusev in the Yes Lock simultaneously. Rusev and English finally break free and roll out to ringside for a breather. Back in the ring, English gets the advantage over AJ until AJ stuns English with a Pele Kick, and both men are down. Bryan and Rusev get the tags and Bryan unloads on Rusev with strikes. Bryan springboards off the turnbuckle and hits a clothesline on Rusev. Bryan is fired up and shakes the ropes before hitting the running dropkick on Rusev. Bryan looks for the Yes Lock but Rusev puts up a fight until English breaks it up. Bryan throws English outside, then blocks a big boot from Rusev. Bryan takes Rusev down with a dragon screw, then unloads on him with Yes Kicks. Bryan follows up with the running knee to the face on Rusev, and Rusev is hurt. Nakamura comes out of nowhere and low-blows AJ from behind while AJ is on the apron, and the ref doesn’t see it. Bryan sees what happened and Nakamura laughs. Bryan turns around into a big boot from Big Cass out of nowhere. Cass stands over Bryan on the mat and raises his hand in the air as Nakamura backs up the ramp.

Winners via DQ: AJ Styles & Daniel Bryan

– We go to replays as the announcers talk about Big Cass making his return from a knee injury. Renee Young tries to interview Nakamura on the stage about why he attacked AJ again, but Nakamura doesn’t answer. Nakamura heads to the back as Cass is still standing over Bryan in the ring, and SmackDown goes off the air.

WWE Holding Tryout In Saudi Arabia

The WWE is set to head to Saudi Arabia later this month for the Greatest Royal Rumble event. One of the featured matches on the card is a 50-Man Royal Rumble match, the largest in WWE history.

Huge names like The Undertaker, Chris Jericho, John Cena, Brock Lesnar, and Roman Reigns are scheduled to appear. WWE has also now announced that they will be holding tryouts while in Saudi Arabia as well:

WWE to hold tryout in Saudi Arabia this week

RIYADH, SAUDI ARABIA and STAMFORD, Conn. — WWE is in Saudi Arabia this week in search of the next generation of WWE Superstars with a four-day talent tryout in Jeddah beginning tomorrow, Wednesday, April 18, through Saturday, April 21.

The tryout, which will be hosted at the King Abdullah Sports City Sports Hall, will give more than 25 athletes from Saudi Arabia the opportunity to showcase their abilities with the goal of being selected to begin training at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Fla. The talent pool will be comprised of elite performers with a diverse background in sports, including soccer, powerlifting, volleyball, boxing, jiujitsu, gymnastics, CrossFit and taekwondo.

The world-class tryout is part of WWE’s commitment to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, highlighted by the Greatest Royal Rumble event on Friday, April 27. General Sports Authority of Saudi Arabia Chairman, His Excellency Turki Al Sheikh, WWE Chairman & CEO Vince McMahon and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia invite the world to celebrate this signature event. It is the first event as part of a long-term partnership between WWE and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The Greatest Royal Rumble card includes the first-ever 50-Man Greatest Royal Rumble Match; John Cena vs. Triple H; The Undertaker vs. Rusev in a Casket Match; Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns in a Universal Championship Steel Cage Match; an Intercontinental Championship Ladder Match featuring champion Seth Rollins vs. The Miz vs. Samoa Joe vs. Finn Bálor; United States Champion Jeff Hardy vs. Jinder Mahal with Sunil Singh; a Raw Tag Team Championship Match between “Woken” Matt Hardy & Bray Wyatt and Sheamus & Cesaro; and SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Bludgeon Brothers vs. The Usos, as well as a WWE Championship Match and a Cruiserweight Championship Match.

“WWE is dedicated to recruiting the most talented athletes and entertainers from around the world and developing them into global Superstars,” said Paul “Triple H” Levesque, WWE Executive Vice President, Talent, Live Events & Creative. “In partnership with the General Sports Authority, we look forward to bringing the Greatest Royal Rumble to Saudi Arabia while showcasing this historic event to the world.”

The Jeddah tryout is the latest example of WWE’s global talent recruiting efforts. In recent years, WWE has scouted rugby and soccer players from Europe, kabaddi and kushti athletes from India, and martial artists and boxers from China. In 2017, WWE held a tryout in Dubai, which resulted in the first Arab woman, the first Indian woman and the first Kuwaiti man to sign with WWE.

The Miz Takes Shot At Daniel Bryan, Cody Rhodes Announces ‘All In’ Press Conference

The Miz Fires A Shot At Daniel Bryan

Daniel Bryan is now back on WWE’s roster as a full-time in-ring competitor. While Bryan was out due to injury for the past several years, he took a lot of verbal abuse from The Miz. To add insult to injury, Miz began using a lot of Bryan’s moves inside the ring as well.

Now that Bryan is back to competing inside the ring, and Miz was swapped to SmackDown Live last night by way of the Superstar Shake-Up, Bryan says he can’t wait to punch Miz in the face.

The Miz fired back at Bryan via Twitter, telling the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion to be careful when he punches his face because he could get hurt and sit out another three years.

Goldust Teases WWE Role Change?, Roman Reigns Remembers His Late Brother Rosey

Goldust’s WWE Role Set To Change?

Longtime WWE veteran Goldust recently took to Twitter and issued out a lengthy statement thanking fans for their support over the years. The wording sounds very much like he’s retiring from in-ring competition and switching over to a role that allows him to help talent and pass on his knowledge to the next generation.

You can read Goldust’s statement in the Tweet below:

Goldust has long been teasing a change to his WWE role for quite some time on Twitter. It should be noted that WWE.com still lists him as a member of the RAW roster.

Roman Reigns Remembers His Late Brother Rosey

Today marks one year since the passing of former WWE Superstar Matt “Rosey” Anoa’i, who passed away at 47-years-old due to congestive heart failure in Florida. His brother, current WWE Superstar Roman Reigns, took to Twitter to say some words of remembrance:

ICW React To Former World Champion on Monday Night RAW

2

Insane Championship Wrestling has publicly congratulated former ICW World Champion Drew McIntyre on his return to Monday Night RAW. The company made the following statement in an interview with the Sunday Post in Scotland:

“Drew McIntyre helped put ICW on the map. He took the ICW Heavyweight Championship and defended it across the globe, giving it World Title status. He was also one of the main features of our Fear & Loathing event at the SSE Hydro, the biggest British independent professional wrestling show in thirty years. We’re forever grateful to Drew for what he has done for ICW and cannot wait to see what he brings to the RAW brand.

McIntyre (known as Galloway on the independent scene) had two stints for ICW, his first back in 2006 when he appeared at the company’s inaugural event and became their first ever Heavyweight Champion and his second followed his 2014 release from WWE. Drew’s run from 2014-2017 completely reignited his career and fundamentally changed the course of ICW’s already incredible success story.

Insane Championship Wrestling inducted the former NXT/WWE Intercontinental Champion into their Hall of Fame earlier this year on February 12th.

Possible Prize For Saudi Arabia Greatest Royal Rumble Winner (Photo)

9

WWE is set to hold its Greatest Royal Rumble event in Saudi Arabia on April 27th. The event will feature the biggest Royal Rumble match of all time, with 50 participants competing in the bout.

While the match is huge in magnitude and simply winning it would put a huge notch in any Superstar’s belt, the company has yet to announce what the winner of the historic bout would be receiving.

Recently WWE has shown an infatuation with awarding Rumble winners trophies, and typically a title opportunity is only granted if it’s for the winner of the traditional Royal Rumble match in January – however an exception could be made for this particular event.

WWE fans are left wondering what exactly the prize could be for the eventual winner of the Greatest Royal Rumble. A recent Tweet from WWE Espanol may have just revealed exactly what the prize will be.

The account Tweeted out a promotional image for the event, showcasing all the big Superstars advertised for the match, but a huge trophy is also featured in the middle. Check it out:

(We’ve also posted the photo of the poster below in case the Tweet is deleted later)

Greatest Royal Rumble trophy

Discussion: What are your thoughts on WWE issuing out another trophy to a Rumble winner? Do you think a title opportunity should be granted to the winner instead? And who do you think deserves to win the bout?

How Jeff Hardy Made History With His RAW US Title Win

12

Opening last night’s episode of Monday Night RAW – the first day of the Superstar Shake-Up – the United States Title was introduced to the red brand when Jinder Mahal made his way out to the ring.

Jeff Hardy would then challenge The Modern Day Maharaja for the strap, and won it after hitting a Swanton Bomb. It was announced shortly after Hardy’s win that the victory made him a Grand Slam Champion under the new format (he is also a Grand Slam Champion under the old one as well).

It turns out that’s not the only bit of history Hardy made with his win over Mahal. WWE Stats & Info’s Twitter reports he is now the first and only person in WWE history to have held the following titles in their career:

  • WWE Championship
  • World Heavyweight Championship
  • Intercontinental Championship
  • United States Championship
  • World Tag Team Championship
  • RAW Tag Team Championship
  • European Championship
  • Hardcore Championship
  • Light Heavyweight Championship

WWE HOF’er Rants On Ronda Rousey

18

While Ronda Rousey’s WWE in-ring debut was fairly well received by the professional wrestling community, it looks like one WWE Hall Of Famer isn’t a fan of The Rowdy One venturing off into the professional wrestling world.

Superstar Billy Graham took to his official Facebook page and went on an absolute rant regarding Rousey’s WWE career, referring to her as Ronda “Lousy” several times. For starters, Graham takes exception to Rousey playing off of Roddy Piper’s gimmick.

He also did not like the rumors flying around before her WrestleMania 34 match suggesting she could win by making Triple H tap out. Here’s Graham’s full rant:

“Ronda Lousy vs HHH

“First off to the fan who wrote.. ‘ I find Ronda’s use of Piper’s gimmick nauseating ‘ You my brother are dead on my man !!! I find it a total insult and absolutely reveals that she does not have an original thought in her head. Damn, can’t she be an original at anything ? This shows you how shallow she is and by the way, I am a fan of females being in the main event.

“That is why I put up this photo of Amanda Nunes kicking her ass in 48 seconds. She looked pitiful, a TKO in 48 seconds on Dec. 30th, 2016 by Nunes, a real fighter and Rousey just a jobber. Speaking of jobbers, I read today a quote by Meltzer that shook me to the core, it goes as follows, ‘ There was a rumor going around by WWE officials prior to mania 34 that Rousey was going to make HHH tap out to her armbar finisher ( instead of Stephanie McMahon ) and it appears the company went in the latter direction specifically due to storyline continuity reasons; as Rousey attacked Stephanie’s arm the next night on Raw whereas HHH is not a regular on-screen character and has disappeared for now. ‘

“WHAT ??? Miss Lousy was going to make H tap out ??? This would have been received as well as a cement truck full of pig sh*t being dumped on the mania 34 fans. God folks, what is the WWE thinking ??? RR is not a god of some kind but a mere female x UFC failure that got her flat ass kicked twice on the way out. Now this is nauseating.

“I demand that you fans respond to this crap the WWE is trying to lay on you by even thinking about her making HHH tap out, god this makes me sick. To help you get over your urge to vomit over this news, please click on the link directly below that my main man Mike found for me. Just a 60 second promo by me from Florida and please tell me if anyone in the WWE today can match my short promo, UN-scripted and loaded !!! Superstar B. G.”

Chris Jericho On Not Being Ready For The WWE HOF Yet

6

Former WWE Champion Chris Jericho recently did an interview with Still Real To Us to talk about several professional wrestling topics. Y2J first offered his thoughts on how the WWE Hall Of Fame differs from the Rock N’ Roll Hall Of Fame:

“I find Hall Of Fame is more for the fans than it is or anybody else. I’ve never been that focused on the Hall Of Fame. I kinda thought it was cool when Axl Rose didn’t show up or Van Halen didn’t show up or being super snotty and kinda being a dick. Like when the Sex Pistols sent in a letter saying they didn’t want to be there, they refused to be mentioned or whatever.

“But I think for the fans it’s kind of a cool buttoning of the whole career. But I just watched the Hall Of Fame and Bon Jovi was up there with all the members and it was cool and then the guy from Dire Straits didn’t show up so it’s kind of an embarrassment. There’s so much drama behind the Rock n Roll Hall Of Fame because you’re talking about bands — the good thing about the WWE Hall Of Fame is it’s just you.”

Jericho still feels that he’s at his peak in his professional wrestling career, and doesn’t think that’s the time one should be inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame. For that reason, the former WWE Champ doesn’t think he’s ready to be inducted quite yet:

“So I imagine I’ll probably show up if I’m ever invited. But I don’t really feel like I’m at that point in my career where I should be in the Hall Of Fame. To me, that’s kinda the end of the road not kind of when you’re at your peak — like what people are saying about the Kenny Omega match and the quality of the match.

“‘It’s the best match of Jericho’s career’ — well jeez if that’s the case then I got nowhere near the Hall Of Fame yet I still have a bunch of great matches left in me it’s not like that was my last ditch one and then I’ll explode into a puff of dust.”

Spoiler: RAW Superstar Backstage For Tonight’s SmackDown

16

WWE’s Superstar Shake-Up continues tonight on SmackDown Live, which takes place from Providence, Rhode Island at the Dunkin Donuts Center. 16 Superstars joined the RAW brand last night and you can be sure there will be an influx of new faces on SmackDown before the night is up.

With just a few more hours until the Superstar Shake-Up continues, it’s worth nothing that new United States Champion Jeff Hardy is backstage for tonight’s broadcast (via PWInsider). Hardy captured the gold from Jinder Mahal after the Modern Day Maharajah moved to RAW. Mahal is getting his championship rematch at the Greatest Royal Rumble, with SmackDown Live star Randy Orton waiting in the wings. Orton will challenge the US Champion next month at Backlash, whether it be Hardy or Mahal.

Update: RAW Superstar Samoa Joe has been spotted arriving at the Dunkin Donuts Center, a strong indication he’ll be moving over to SmackDown Live later tonight.

https://twitter.com/WiseGuyYT/status/986285878040498183

Cesaro caused some commotion on social media earlier today by tweeting a photo of himself, Sheamus, Finn Balor and Sahsa Banks on a plane to South Africa for WWE’s weekend tour of the country. Fans immediately questioned if this photo was a ‘Spoiler’ for the Superstar Shake-Up (ie. if they’re out of the country, they won’t be appearing on SmackDown tonight), but that’s a shaky theory since several of the performers who got drafted to RAW last night were not on the show.

Joins us here later tonight for our SmackDown Live Coverage to see which RAW Superstars get traded and how the two brands look when the Superstar Shake-Up concludes.

Steve Austin Explains Why Wasn’t A Fan Of ‘Nicholas’ At WrestleMania

18

You can add the name of WWE Hall of Famer Steve Austin to the list of people still talking about WWE’s decision for who Braun Strowman’s tag team partner was at WrestleMania 34 earlier this month in New Orleans.

At the show, Strowman and a kid that was picked out of the crowd defeated Cesaro and Sheamus to win the Raw Tag Team Titles. This marks the first time that Strowman has held the title in his career. It was later revealed that Strowman and Nicholas had to vacate the titles due to Nicholas being a fourth-grade student.

Austin expressed his thoughts on a recent episode of The Steve Austin Show.

“Braun Strowman is over like rover, a lot of potential, a lot of momentum, a lot of great storylines for him,” said Austin. “But the fact that he goes out there in the crowd and picks some kid, it’s almost like a disservice to Cesaro and Sheamus who’ve been working their a**es off. Two physical specimens, have really gotten some chemistry together as a team. Not to be taken lightly. Braun’s a big guy, but you know, Cesaro’s one of the strongest guys in the locker room. Sheamus is a brute.

“They can’t monetize this person who was picked from the crowd. And, I don’t know, I wasn’t really down with it, and that’s with respect to a d**n good tag team like The Bar. And then Strowman picks someone [from the crowd], I just, man you’re walking a fine line with him, because you have this brute force killer who’s legitimately one of the biggest, strongest men in the world. It didn’t do much for me.”

As seen on this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw in Hartford, CT at the XL Center on the USA Network, Bray Wyatt, and Matt Hardy beat The Revival to earn shot at the vacant Raw Tag Team Titles.

Wyatt and Hardy will now challenge The Bar for the titles at the upcoming Greatest Royal Rumble event.
