The Miz Believes HIs WrestleMania 34 Match Has All Components Of Being Main Event Caliber

25

Current WWE Intercontinental Champion The Miz has been an important part of the WWE over the last decade.

The biggest match of The Miz’s career was when defeated John Cena for the WWE Championship back at WrestleMania 27 in 2011 in the main event. This marked the only time that WWE had booked The Miz in the main event of the biggest event of the year for the sports entertainment company.

The Miz recently spoke with Yahoo Sports to talk about various topics including his upcoming Intercontinental Title defense against Seth Rollins and Finn Balor in a Triple Threat Match at WrestleMania 34.

Although the match will not be slotted in the main event, Miz is planning to make it the caliber of a match that should’ve been placed as the headliner.

“Even though my match is not called the main event, I plan on making it the main event and people to talk about it for years to come, moments that last a lifetime. We have all of the components. Finn Balor and Seth Rollins, as much as I make fun of them and degrade them, they are two of the top, elite, talents in WWE.”

“To be one of the focal points of Raw, to know that Vince [McMahon], Hunter [Triple H], Stephanie [McMahon], Shane [McMahon], that all of the execs, believe in me and know that I can put out there and revolve a show around me, that my star power can bring people into an arena, make people watch at home, that is second to none. That trust, that is what you live for as a WWE superstar.

I was the person that elevated that title, that made it prestigious and that was my goal. My goal was to have this title where it was when I was a kid, when Ultimate Warrior was going up against Hulk Hogan. It was the biggest match that you could see. That is where I’m taking the Intercontinental title.”

Potential Spoiler On WWE SmackDown Women’s Title Match At WrestleMania 34

42

WWE has been putting a lot of promotion into the upcoming SmackDown Women’s Title match that will see Charlotte Flair make her next title defense against the undefeated Asuka at WrestleMania 34.

The general belief among fans is that Asuka will go over in this match and win her first title as a member of the main roster.

However, that might not be the case as the Smoothie King Center’s website is listing Flair vs. Carmella for the Smackdown Women’s Championship for next week’s Smackdown Live in New Orleans.

As we have noted earlier on the site, Asuka is advertised to face Nia Jax at RAW live events after WrestleMania.

This could be taken as an indication of the outcome of the title match at WrestleMania. Flair could retain or Carmella could cash-in her Money in the Bank briefcase at WrestleMania to win the title.

This should be taken as a rumor for now as cards for upcoming events can change at any time.

AJ Styles defending the WWE Title against Shinsuke Nakamura in a WrestleMania 34 rematch is also advertised as a dark match for next week’s SmackDown Live.

NXT Preview: Finals of the Dusty Rhodes Classic

0

On tonight’s episode of NXT, the finals of the Dusty Rhodes Classic tag-team tournament will take place. Additionally, two big singles matches will also round out today’s card.

The show was taped from Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida.

NXT Preview

  1. Dusty Rhodes Classic Finals
Pete Dunne & Roderick Strong vs the Authors of Pain

    • The AOP will be looking to win their second straight Dusty Rhodes Classic.
    • As for Dunne and Strong, Dunne successfully defended the UK Championship against Strong earlier this year and there could be some tension between the two despite their victory in the semi-finals.
    • With Bobby Fish’s injury now expected to keep him out of Takeover: New Orleans, we should find out more about the next tag-team title opportunity on tonight’s show.
  2. Killian Dain versus Lars Sullivan
    • 2 of the 6 competitors vying for the new Noth American Championship on Saturday will face off in 1-on-1 action tonight.
    • Sullivan is just returning from injury while Dain has been steadily moving up the ranks as a single’s competitor in recent months.
  3. Kairi Sane vs Vanessa Borne
    • Ember Moon and Shayna Baszler may have their eyes on this match-up. A win for Sane could move her into title contention.
    • Sane recently lost to Shayna Baszler on an episode of NXT filmed from Center Stage in Atlanta. She is now 1-1 versus the Queen of Spades in 1-on-1 action, having defeated her in the finals of the Mae Young Classic. If Sane defeats Borne here, and Baszler defeats Moon at Takeover, we could see the rubber match between Baszler and Sane next. Bazler defeating Moon at Takeover is a big “if”, however.
    • As for Borne, she’s 1-2 in NXT single’s matches and went 1-1 in the Mae Young Classic (she won her qualifying match and lost in the first round). Her last match on NXT television was a loss to Nikki Cross in February.

Jeff Jarrett Backstage At SmackDown (Video)

3

2018 WWE Hall of Fame inductee Jeff Jarrett was backstage at this week’s SmackDown Live, which emanated from his hometown of Nashville, Tennessee.

It was the first time in 19 years that Jarrett stepped foot inside a WWE arena.

WWE released footage of Jarrett reuniting with old friends and making new ones as part of the annual WrestleMania Diaries series, which chronicles the company’s biggest week of the year.

With Shane McMahon stepping down as SmackDown commissioner and Daniel Bryan returning to active competition, Jarrett would be an interesting pick to be an on-air authority figure for WWE’s blue brand following WrestleMania. WWE went a similar route with Kurt Angle last year, with Angle becoming the General Manager of Monday Night Raw after his induction. Another Superstar Shake-Up is expected after WrestleMania and Jarrett would certainly give the show a different feel.

What do you think about the possibility of Jeff Jarrett as an authority figure on SmackDown Live?

Rusev Comments On Possibly Riding a Tank Into WrestleMania Again

8

Three years ago, Rusev rode into WrestleMania on an undefeated streak. He also literally rode into WrestleMania on a Russian tank. While he would eventually lose to John Cena at WrestleMania 31, the legacy of his entrance that day has endured.

Rusev Bringing the Tank Back for WrestleMania 34?

“This Sunday, maybe we dust off the old tank” – Rusev to WWE.com

Based on his comments to WWE.com, it appears Rusev might be looking to bring back the tank for this year’s WrestleMania.

Rusev will be 1/4 of the United States Championship match this Sunday. He was added to the match after pinning US champion, Randy Orton, in a tag match two weeks ago on Smackdown.

Tenille Dashwood Comments on Difference Between WWE and ROH

7

Tenille Dashwood (FKA Emma) has only been with ROH’s Women of Honor division for two months but she has already made a big impression. Currently, Dashwood is in the semi-finals of the promotion’s tournament to crown a Women of Honor champion. Dashwood defeated Brandi Rhodes in the quarter-finals.

Tenille Dashwood on Difference Between ROH and WWE

ScreenRant recently caught up with Dashwood and asked about how things have changed for her since she left WWE.

“Of course there are differences [between WWE and ROH],” said Dashwood. “I think WWE is very much entertainment, and obviously Ring of Honor is too, but I think you see a little more wrestling in Ring of Honor.”

Dashwood will wrestle Sumie Sakai in the semi-finals of the tournament. That match will take place on the SuperCard of Honor preshow this weekend. Should Dashwood be successful in that match, she would move on to face the winner of Kelly Kelin versus Mayu Iwatani. The finals of the tournament will take place on the SuperCard of Honor main show later the same night.

“I’m expecting to be in the finals, that means two matches in one night,” says Dashwood. “I’ve done three matches a night in NXT, so maybe I have that over the other competitors, maybe they’re not used to that. So I’ve thought ahead, I’ve taken that into account, and I’ll enjoy the moment, and in the end, I’ll walk out as champion.”

Alexa Bliss Comments on Ronda Rousey Legitimizing the Women’s Evolution

3

WWE Raw Women’s Champion, Alexa Bliss, recently took part in an interview with NHL.com. While much of the interview centered around Bliss’ fandom for the Columbus Blue Jackets, she also talked about women in sport.

When the topic of Ronda Rousey came up, Bliss expressed that her arrival is helping to legitimize what she and the other women on the roster are doing.

Alexa Bliss on Ronda Rousey’s WWE Impact

“Now with having Ronda Rousey, who has made a name for herself with UFC, and bringing her on board with what we do really legitimizes anyone’s question for what we do. It is tough and to have someone with her caliber develop and learn shows that it’s not easy as people think it is. It shows that we’re just as strong the men, we’re just as good as the men and now it’s our time to show it and prove it.” – Alexa Bliss to NHL.com

WrestleMania 34 will only be Alexa Bliss’ 2nd time on the “Grandest Stage of Them All”. It will also be her second time entering WrestleMania as champion. Last year, she lost her title to Naomi in the second last match on the card. This year, Bliss is hoping for a different result against Nia Jax.

“Last year I learned my lesson. One second of being distracted can end it all. Last year I was distracted for a split second and Naomi was able to submit me. This year I’ll make sure that I can do whatever it takes to win at all costs. Some people say that I cheat or whatever. I just call it strategy.”

WWE Mixed Match Challenge Finals (4/3): Bobby Roode & Charlotte vs. The Miz & Asuka

5

Bobby Roode and Charlotte Flair faced The Miz and Asuka in the final round of the Mixed Match Challenge tonight following WWE SmackDown. Charlotte defeated Natalya on SmackDown and was confronted by Asuka after the match. The two Superstars traded words ahead of their match for the SmackDown Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 34 this Sunday.

The Miz and Bobby Roode started off the match. They traded taunts and Asuka started shouting at The Miz. Roode and Flair got into the ring and delivered a few chops to The Miz as the crowd chanted “woo!. The Miz retreated and tagged in Asuka.

Charlotte and Asuka went back and forth for a moment before The Miz tagged back in. The crowd booed as The Miz got back into the ring. Roode sprinted into the ring and started beating the hell out of The Miz. Eventually, The Miz was able to battle back and locked in the Figure Four on Roode. The Miz then decided to strut in the ring as Charlotte shouted on the ring apron.

https://twitter.com/totaldivaseps/status/981354432465129472

The strut backfired on The Miz, as Roode regrouped and knocked him to the canvas. Charlotte and Asuka got back into the match and Asuka connected with a flurry of kicks for a two count. Asuka went for a Hip Attack but Charlotte was ready for it and caught her. Charlotte connected with a couple of chops and followed it up with a Belly to Back Suplex. Charlotte scaled to the top rope and hit a Moonsault for another two count.

https://twitter.com/totaldivaseps/status/981355122939826176

Charlotte went to apply the Figure Four but Asuka was able to escape. The Miz started taunting her from the ring apron and Charlotte missed with a slap. Asuka capitalized and booted her from behind. The Miz and Roode tagged back in and Roode immediately connected with a Neckbreaker. Roode followed it up with a Clothesline off the top rope. Bobby went for the Glorious DDT but The Miz blocked. The Miz then tried for the Skull Crushing Finale, but Roode was able to block that as well.

The Miz planted Roode with a DDT for a two count. The Miz went for the Figure Four again but Roode countered into a roll-up for two. Charlotte got into the ring and delivered a Spear to The Miz. Flair applied the Figure Four to The Miz in the middle of the ring, but Asuka quickly broke up the hold with a Dropkick.

Roode connected with a Spinebuster on The Miz for another two count. Bobby Roode went for the Glorious DDT one more time but Asuka attacked him from behind. Asuka took out Charlotte with a sliding Dropkick and then The Miz planted Roode with the Skull Crushing Finale for the pinfall victory. The Miz and Asuka won the Mixed Match Challenge tournament.

https://twitter.com/totaldivaseps/status/981356701692686338

After the victory, Asuka and The Miz were interviewed by Renee Young in the ring. The Miz claimed that this week was the best of life because of the birth of his daughter and winning this tournament for the Rescue Dogs Rock charity. Asuka grabbed the microphone and vowed to become the new SmackDown Women’s Champion at WrestleMania 34.

6 Takeaways From WWE SmackDown (4/3)

4

The April 3rd episode of WWE SmackDown aired live from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, TN. It was the final episode of SmackDown before WrestleMania 34 this Sunday. Here are 6 takeaways from this week’s show:

Shane McMahon & Daniel Bryan Hugged It Out

shane daniel 4 3

SmackDown GM Daniel Bryan kicked off this week’s episode and made his way to the ring to a chorus of “yes!” chants from the fans in the Bridgestone Arena. The chants transitioned into “Daniel Bryan!” as Daniel stood in the ring.

Bryan welcomed everyone to SmackDown Live and then welcomed back SmackDown Commissioner Shane McMahon. Shane danced his way down the entrance ramp to a great reaction from the crowd.

Shane grabbed a microphone and joined Bryan in the ring. The two shook hands as the crowd chanted “Shane-O-Mac!”. Shane thanked the crowd and complimented their energy. Shane stated that he wanted to correct Daniel Bryan from what he said last week. Shane said that Bryan was a role model because he fought for three years to get back in the ring. He then congratulated Daniel on getting cleared to do what he loves and what the fans all love to watch him do.

Shane added that he was very excited to be Daniel’s tag partner at WrestleMania 34. Shane listed the recent medical issues he has had and announced that he has also been medically cleared to give it everything he has got this Sunday.

Bryan admitted that he has made a lot of mistakes over the past 6 months, especially when it comes to Zayn and Owens. Bryan said that he let his 15 year friendship with them manipulate them and stated that Shane was right all along. Daniel apologized and Shane replied that there was no reason to apologize. Shane admitted that he has made mistakes as well and has been stubborn.

Daniel joked that he has never heard of a McMahon being stubborn. Shane laughed and then twirled the microphone around in his hand for a moment, which lead to an awkward silence. Bryan spoke again and said that he has learned a lot about the WWE over the past few years. Bryan added that when tag partners have their differences, there is only way to resolve it. The crowd chanted “hug it out!” and Bryan posed for a hug.

Shane said that he let his emotions get the better of him after Owens attacked his father. Shane extended his hand for a handshake and Bryan stated that he just shook Shane’s hand two minutes ago. Bryan asked the crowd if they wanted to see them hug it out and the crowd chanted “yes!”. Shane claimed that he was not much of a hugger but he appreciates it. The crowd chanted “hug it out!” again and the two finally shared a hug.

Shane said that worked and that they are definitely on the same page now. Daniel noted that now that they are on the page, that means bad news for Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. Bryan added that they are going to get payback for what they did to him and Shane McMahon. Shane thanked Bryan for reinstating Owens and Zayn because now they have the opportunity to rid themselves of Owens & Zayn at WrestleMania 34. Shave vowed that Owens and Zayn will never be seen on SmackDown Live again following WrestleMania 34.

Daniel Bryan asked the crowd if they were ready to them beat the hell out of Owens and Zayn at WrestleMania 34. The crowd chanted “yes!” as Shane and Bryan chanted along in the ring and shared another hug.

Opinion: The crowd was electric tonight during this segment. Daniel Bryan returns to the ring on Sunday and I cannot imagine the overwhelming crowd reaction he is going to get at WrestleMania 34 in New Orleans. It is going to be quite the WrestleMania moment this Sunday. Shane McMahon always gives it his all during his WrestleMania matches. Owens and Zayn are also tremendously talented, so this match should be highly entertaining in 5 days.

Asuka Confronted Charlotte

charlotte asuka smackdown 4 3

SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair faced Natalya tonight on SmackDown. Charlotte will be defending the SmackDown Women’s Championship against the undefeated Asuka at WrestleMania 34. Charlotte & Bobby Roode will also be facing Asuka & The Miz in the finals of the Mixed Match Challenge following this week’s episode of SmackDown.

SmackDown went to a break before the match and when it returned, Charlotte was in control and strutting around the ring. Natalya had a pissed off look on her face and dragged Charlotte to the canvas. Charlotte broke free and the two Superstars circled each other. Natalya took a break to pose and it almost cost her as Charlotte rolled her up for a two count.

Natalya brought Charlotte back to the mat and instructed the crowd to shut their mouths. Natalya once again posed in the ring and this time got booed out of the building. Charlotte knocked Natalya to the mat and went for a cover but Natalya kicked out. Charlotte slammed her back to the canvas, went for another cover but once again Natalya powered out at two.

Charlotte went for a roll-up but Natalya escaped at the last moment. Charlotte applied a side Headlock in the middle of the ring and transitioned into another unsuccessful cover. Charlotte brought Natalya to the corner and stomped on her a few times. Charlotte dropped Natalya back to the mat for another two count. Charlotte wrapped her legs around Natalya’s neck and slammed her face into the mat three times before transitioning into a Figure Four Headlock.

Charlotte used her leg strength and slammed Natalya to the mat a few times. Charlotte posed in the ring as Natalya rolled out of the ring in frustration. Charlotte followed her out there and connected with a coupe of chops. Natalya responded by launching Charlotte into the ring post. Natalya posed with a big smile on her face as SmackDown went to another commercial break.

During the break, Natalya remained in control and brought Charlotte back to the ring. When SmackDown returned, the action had spilled outside the ring and Natalya launched Charlotte into the barricade. Natalya sat on top of the barricade and posed yet again. Natalya threw Charlotte back into the ring and booted her in the ribs.

Natalya applied the Abdominal Stretch, but Charlotte quickly reversed it in the middle of the ring. Natalya broke free and connected with an Arm Drag. Charlotte went over the ropes to the ring apron and then made her way up the turnbuckle. Natalya caught her and planted her with a Body Slam off the top for a two count.

Charlotte battled back with a few chops as the crowd chanted “woo!” at every impact. Charlotte followed it up with a Neckbreaker and a boot to the face. Charlotte regrouped against the ropes before attempting a cover but Natalya kicked out at two. Natalya connected with an elbow and then applied a Sleeper Hold.

Charlotte ran with Natalya on her back and then dropped her to the canvas to break the hold. Flair once again climbed to the top and went for a Moonsault but Natalya was able to get her knees up. Both Superstars were on the mat and Carmella’s music hit. Carmella frantically ran to the ring with a referee to try and cash in her MITB contract. Charlotte booted the briefcase out of Carmella’s hands and out of the ring.

Flair then booted Carmella in the face and Carmella rolled out of the ring. Just like two weeks ago, Natalya rolled up Charlotte from behind, but this time Charlotte was able to kick out at two. Charlotte then locked in the Figure Eight for the submission the victory.

After the match, Asuka’s music hit and the Empress of Tomorrow danced her way towards the ring. Asuka posed on the turnbuckle as Charlotte stood with the SmackDown Women’s Championship. Asuka grabbed a microphone and stood right across from Charlotte. Asuka said that at WrestleMania, the Queen will bow down to the Embress because no one is read…

Charlotte grabbed the microphone from Asuka and stated that she was ready. Charlotte got in Asuka’s face and asked if she was ready. They both glanced at the WrestleMania sign above the ring and had a stare down as Charlotte’s music hit.

Opinion: This is another match I cannot wait to see on Sunday night. We will get a preview of Charlotte versus Asuka tonight during the Mixed Match Challenge. The Miz and Asuka will most likely win the match, simply because it would be absurd for Asuka to not head into WrestleMania undefeated. Carmella keeps showing up on SmackDown and failing at trying to cash in her MITB contract. I wouldn’t be surprised if she makes another cameo during the match at WrestleMania 34.

Orton Planted Rusev With An RKO Out Of Nowhere

roode orton smackdown 4 3

Jinder Mahal faced Rusev tonight on SmackDown as Bobby Roode joined commentary. Randy Orton will be defending his United States Championship against Roode, Mahal & Rusev in a Fatal 4-Way match at WrestleMania 34 this Sunday.

Sunil Singh came down to the entrance and started singing to poke fun at Aiden English. Jinder Mahal clapped for Sunil’s horrendous singing and made his way down to the ring. Aiden English harmonously cleared his throat and stood on the entrance ramp as the crowd chanted “Rusev Day!”. English rapped a bit and poked fun at Sunil Singh. English sang that today is Rusev Day as Rusev came down to the ring.

Rusev locked up with Mahal to start off the match. They battled to the corner of the ring and the referee broke it up as Randy Orton was shown watching the match backstage. Rusev went for the Accolade early but Mahal escaped out of the ring as SmackDown went to a break.

When SmackDown returned, Mahal connected with a Clothesline for a two count. Roode was asked if he had any jitters before his WrestleMania match. Roode stated that he was excited and that Sunday will be the biggest moment of his career. Bobby vowed to walk out of WrestleMania 34 with the United States Championship once again.

The crowd chanted “Rusev Day!” as Rusev began to battle back. Mahal cut his momentum short with a knee to the chest as WWE aired a video promo for Lesnar versus Reigns during the match. Rusev went for the Accolade again but Mahal scampered to the ropes to break the hold.

Mahal connected with a boot to the face for a two count. Rusev battled back and kicked Sunil Singh off the ring apron. Mahal went for a roll-up but Rusev kicked out. Rusev then planted Mahal with the Machka Kick for the pinfall victory. Aiden English hopped into the ring and raised Rusev’s hand. Rusev got on the turnbuckle and pointed at the WrestleMania sign suspended in the rafters.

Randy Orton got into the ring and delivered an RKO to Rusev. Aiden English attacked Orton as Bobby Roode took his headset off and slowly crept towards the ring. English leaped off the turnbuckle into another RKO from Randy Orton. Bobby Roode got into the ring and grabbed the United States Championship. Bobby handed Orton the title and had a stare down with him. The two glanced at the WrestleMania sign as Orton’s music hit.

Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn rushed the ring and stood on the announce table before the main event. Owens claimed that this was still the Sami and Kevin Show. Sami Zayn stated that they will not be sorry for what they are going to do to Bryan at WrestleMania.

Sami brought up Daniel’s wife Brie and his daughter Birdie. Sami said sorry that Daniel’s daughter will not grow up with fond memories of her father’s heroic WrestleMania comeback. Sami apologized to Brie for the man that is going to home following WrestleMania because this time, all of her love and support is not going to be able to put Daniel Bryan back together.

Owens and Zayn then mocked Daniel Bryan’s “fight for your dreams” speech a couple of weeks ago when he announced that he has been medically cleared to return to the ring. Zayn said that it was their dream to obliterate Daniel Bryan and that is exactly what they are going to do this Sunday. Owens added that destroying Daniel Bryan will be their WrestleMania moment.

Zayn tried to start a “we deserve it!” chant as Shane and Bryan were shown watching backstage. Shane stated that they deserve more than that and Bryan stated “lets go”.

Owens continued his rant until his microphone was cut off. Sami and Owens smiled as security escorted them over the barricade. Owens and Zayn made their way up the arena steps as Shane and Daniel came down to the entrance ramp.

Bryan told them to stop and instructed cameras to roll on Zayn and Owens. Daniel asked everyone to turn their cellphone cameras towards Owens and Zayn because this was the last time Owens and Zayn will be on SmackDown Live. Shane then started singing “na-na-na-hey-hey-goodbye” and the crowd sang along as Owens and Zayn got pissed off. Owens and Zayn made their way up the steps as Bryan and Shane waved goodbye to them.

AJ Styles Got Some Revenge On Shinsuke Nakamura Heading Into WrestleMania 34

AJ Styles had a backstage interview and brought up Nakamura patting him on the head last week. Styles said that Nakamura is not in his head and that his emotions are not his weakness, they are his strength. Styles stated that Nakamura’s weakness is that he takes him too lightly. AJ noted that he is the WWE Champion and that they are far from the Tokyo Dome. Styles stated that while this is a dream match, we are in reality and that the reality is he is going to defeat Nakamura at WrestleMania 34. AJ Styles will team up with Shinsuke Nakamura tonight to face Chad Gable & Shelton Benjamin.

https://twitter.com/totaldivaseps/status/981330412915036160

Later during the show, a backstage interview with Shinsuke Nakamura was shown. Nakamura stated that he knows AJ thinks that he is playing games and he is right. Shinsuke said that he takes this game very seriously and that he came to America for one reason, WrestleMania. Nakamura added that he doesn’t take Styles lightly and that he knows AJ Is very emotional. Nakamura claimed that AJ’s emotions will cause him to make a mistake and when he does, he will hit him with a knee to the face to become WWE Champion at WrestleMania 34.

Styles and Nakamura battled Gable and Benjamin in the main event of this week’s SmackDown. Gable and Nakamura started off the match and went back and forth. Gable tripped up Shinsuke and applied an Arm Bar. Nakamura countered into an Arm Bar of his own and backed towards the corner. Shinsuke tagged in Styles by patting him on the head.

AJ got into the ring and started arguing with Nakamura. Gable and Benjamin took advantage and attacked them from behind. Benjamin threw Nakamura out of the ring and Gable stomped on Styles in the corner as SmackDown went to a commercial break.

https://twitter.com/totaldivaseps/status/981347679216242690

When SmackDown returned, AJ was still trapped in the ring. Styles connected with a Dropkick and made his way towards the corner to tag in Nakamura. Benjamin tagged in at the same time and Shinsuke greeted him with a flurry of kicks. Nakamura kneed Benjamin in the ribs and Gable tagged in. Gable held up Nakamura in the corner and Benjamin kneed Shinsuke in the face. Gable connected with a Moonsault off the top rope ofr a two count.

Gable applied a Chin Lock to Nakamura in the middle of the ring as WWE aired a video package for Asuka versus Charlotte at WrestleMania 34. Benjamin tagged in and continued the beatdown on Nakamura. Shelton brought Shinsuke to the canvas and applied another Chin Lock. Nakamura battled free and started crawling towards the corner.

AJ tagged in and leveled Gable with a Clothesline. Styles followed it up with a Pele Kick to Benjamin that knocked him out of the ring. AJ connected with a Neckbreaker over his knee to Gable and walked towards the corner. Styles hopped on the ring apron next to Nakamura and delivered a Phenomenal Forearm to Chad Gable for the pinfall victory.

After the match, Styles grabbed the WWE Championship and shouted “that is why I am the champ” at Nakamura in the ring. Benjamin attacked Nakamura from behind and started beating him down as AJ watched from the entrance ramp. Nakamura knocked Benjamin out of the ring as AJ hopped up on the ring apron. AJ went for the Phenomenal Forearm but stopped short, just like Nakamura last week. AJ then patted Nakamura on the head and exited the ring. Nakamura was pissed off as AJ raised the title once again on the entrance ramp as SmackDown went off the air.

Opinion: I am looking forward to AJ Styles versus Nakamura the most at WrestleMania 34. I was hoping that it would go on last because I find it hard to believe that any match will top this one on Sunday. WrestleMania 34 has a stacked card on paper, I’m hoping that the show lives up to the hype. Styles versus Nakamura has the potential to be an all-time great match this Sunday and I cannot wait to see it.

Fandango throws Corbin outside next, then Ryder hits a Rough Ryder on Mojo. The ring starts clearing and it comes down to Fandango and Corbin. Fandango rolls up Corbin for a two count, then goes to attack Corbin but Corbin catches him and hits the End of Days for the three count.

Winners: Baron Corbin, Dolph Ziggler, Mojo Rawley & Primo

– The announcers promo WrestleMania on the WWE Network again. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn come out from the crowd and climb up on top of the broadcast table. They start trashing Bryan and McMahon, and make some personal insults about Bryan’s wife and kid. Bryan and McMahon see this on a monitor backstage, and decide to do something about it. Shane and Bryan come out to the stage, and Owens and Zayn retreat into the crowd. Bryan gets on the mic and tells everyone to get a good look because this is the last time you’ll see Owens and Zayn on SmackDown. Shane leads the crowd in singing “goodbye” to Owens and Zayn.

Shelton Benjamin & Chad Gable vs. AJ Styles & Shinsuke Nakamura: The opening bell sounds for tonight’s main event, with Nakamura and Gable starting things off. Braun Strowman May Have Revealed Who Will Be His Partner At WrestleMania 34

27

There’s no doubt about it, this WWE Superstar is a monster among most men. Braun Strowman has risen up the ranks in WWE in a short amount of time after making his main roster debut just a few short years ago as part of The Wyatt Family.

He has learned as he goes to be a top Superstar. It’s well known that WWE Chairman Vince McMahon is a fan of big men.

Strowman is slated to challenge Cesaro and Sheamus for the RAW Tag Team Titles at WrestleMania 34. WWE has made it known that he will need a tag team partner in order to challenge for the straps. However, he has yet to say who he has chosen.

Elias, Big Cass, Samoa Joe and even Rey Mysterio have all been rumored to be his partner. The other name that is being thrown around is Bray Wyatt, who was last seen on TV a few weeks ago when he lost to Matt Hardy. It’s been rumored that Wyatt will be repacked when he returns.

Strowman added fuel to the fire of rumors about Wyatt being his partner by posting this photo on his Instagram story today:

Goldberg Admits His WWE Hall Of Fame Induction Is Overwhelming, Talks Daniel Bryan’s Return

1

Former WWE/WCW World Heavyweight Champion Bill Goldberg is set to be inducted into the 2018 WWE Hall of Fame class this weekend.

Goldberg rose to fame in WCW with a lengthy undefeated streak in singles competition from 1997 to 1998, which was considered the longest winning streak in professional wrestling.

After twelve years away from the WWE, he returned to WWE in 2016 and headlined Survivor Series against Brock Lesnar, and Fastlane against Kevin Owens where he won the WWE Universal Championship.

He lost the title to Lesnar at WrestleMania 34 in Orlando, Florida. He was last seen on WWE television the night after Mania on RAW.

Goldberg spoke with TV Insider for a new interview promoting his History Channel show Forged In Fire: Knife Or Death. In this interview, he opened up on his Hall of Fame induction.

“It’s overwhelming. It’s a completely foreign experience to me. It’s something I never aspired to be given, yet if you don’t strive to be the best at your given profession, you’re selling yourself short. So, I did that every time I put the boots, strive to be in the Hall of Fame if the Hall of Fame denotes the best at their profession. But I was very surprised because of past issues that we’ve had with each other. Simon Marcus, who is a top-level kick boxer who currently fights with Glory Kickboxing, stayed with me in preparation for his fight on March 31.

Goldberg continued, “He and I were doing a lot of soul-searching. I’m trying to teach him about business. The older you get, and the opportunities continue to repeat themselves, your age and experience makes you treat situations completely different than you did in the past. Especially your appreciation for opportunity. Therefore, capitalizing on that opportunity is a must because as a human being, you’re very lucky if you get a very good opportunity once in a lifetime. “To get as many [opportunities] as I have, I’m an extremely gifted person. If you don’t capitalize on it, not only are you selling yourself short, but you’re selling your family short. I don’t like letting things slip away. And the feeling I have now in my heart for WWE and our relationship is a complete flip side to how it was two years ago. The peace I have with that is comforting.”

Goldberg also had nice words for SmackDown General manager Daniel Bryan, who was recently cleared by WWE doctors to return to in-ring action.

“The kid’s passion. You see it in his performances. To be able to persevere and get a second chance, it puts things in perspective. You look at things completely differently than you did the first time. I know that every step along the way, his appreciation will be tenfold. For someone working hard for something, it’s extremely rewarding that you can see them succeed and continue that journey. I’m excited to continue on that journey with him.”

AJ Styles Talks Daniel Bryan Dream Match, Explains Why He And Shinsuke Nakamura Match Up Well

6

WWE Champion AJ Styles is going into WrestleMania 34 with a ton of momentum, and many fans of the WWE believe that his title defense against Shinsuke Nakamura will steal the show this Sunday night at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana live on WWE’s streaming service, WWE Network.

Styles was recently interviewed by IGN to talk about various topics and promote this upcoming event. During the interview, he was asked about why he matches up well with Nakamura.

“I think we’re both unique and just from having been in the ring I know that he and I work well together. I can only say that from one experience, where we wrestled a one-on-one match, but I don’t know how to explain it. There’s just a flow to a match, to our match, that I really can’t compare to a lot of people. He’s so unique and unorthodox in his character and we just work so well when get step in that ring…I think there’s always something special about a build.

The fact that Shinsuke and I haven’t really touched each other these past few months. And that we’ve also never had a one-on-one match in the WWE. So it’s like, these guys are going to be in the ring together and they’re going to have to to go at it. No one’s going to stop it or break it up. The referee is going to either count to three or someone’s going to tap out. It’s going to happen.”

Since SmackDown General manager Daniel Bryan was recently cleared by WWE doctors, Styles as well as other WWE Superstars have gone on record by stating that they would like to wrestle the former WWE Champion.

“There are a few things that I’m selfish about and selfishly I’ve been wanting to wrestle Daniel Bryan in WWE for a long time. When he got hurt, I just figured it wouldn’t be a possibility. But now that he’s back, my mind is racing and I can’t wait to meet him in the ring. I’m so happy he’s back and able to live out his dreams and follow his passion.”

Update On The Rock Potentially Appearing At WrestleMania 34

9

WrestleMania 34 is a stacked card from top to bottom. So much so that WWE officials feel that it’s not necessary to announce John Cena vs. The Undertaker in advance. This leads us to Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

The Rock is regarded as one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time. He picked up his popularity in the mainstream while working in the WWE from 1996 to 2004 and was the first third-generation wrestler in the company’s history. He returned to WWE part-time from 2011–13 and continues to make sporadic appearances for the company.

Every year there is speculation on whether he will appear at WrestleMania. He hasn’t wrestled since WrestleMania 29 against Cena but did have technically a match with Erick Rowan at WrestleMania 32 but it was very brief.

Bryan Alvarez talked about The Rock potentially appearing at WrestleMania 34 during Tuesday’s edition of Wrestling Observer Live. Here is what he had to say:

“Well, you’re not advertising The Rock being there so there would be no reason, you could put him in there if you wanted to […] I do think that The Rock is going to be at WrestleMania. I think The Rock and Elias are going to do a segment together and they’re going to do a concert.”

Alvarez continued, “I don’t think The Rock got clearance to wrestle but I think he got clearance to do the show and I think that’s what is going to happen. We’ll see but I do think he’ll be a big surprise there.”

Hulk Hogan Claims He’s Ready To Wrestle Again

12

There’s no doubt that one of the biggest names that WWE and its Chairman Vince McMahon ever created was Hulk Hogan. He has been a household name in the world of professional wrestling for decades now.

He has wrestled some of the biggest names in the history of pro wrestling, and although he has a long-lasting relationship with the company, there have been some hiccups between the two sides throughout the years.

Most notably he left the sports entertainment company to join World Championship Wrestling in the 1990’s, and he worked in TNA Wrestling for a few years.

His latest run with the company was a short one. On February 24, 2014, on Raw, Hogan made his first WWE in-ring appearance since December 2007 to hype the launch of the WWE Network.

At WrestleMania 30, Hogan served as the host and came out at the start of the show to hype up the crowd. Steve Austin and The Rock ended up coming out to have a memorable segment with him. However, he was later fired over racist remarks made in a leaked sex tape.

Hogan noted on his Instagram account that he’s back to his old weight of 303 lbs and that it’s too bad that he’s not in the main event of WrestleMania because he’s “ready.” He wrote the following:

“Weighed in at my old weight of 303 today,to bad I’m not in the Main Event at Mania because I’m ready brother, but I will be cheering my friends on from home! HH.”

Main Event Of WrestleMania 34 Revealed

49

We now know which match will close the show this weekend at WrestleMania 34.

WWE Chairman Vince McMahon and the rest of the creative team have been planning Roman Reigns challenging Brock Lesnar for the Universal Title at the biggest event of the year for the sports entertainment company since 2017.

The idea is to have Reigns go over on Lesnar to make him a top babyface, which is something that the WWE has been attempting to do for many years now despite the backlash from their fans.

Bryan Alvarez reported on Tuesday’s edition of Wrestling Observer Live that as of Monday, the plan is to have Lesnar vs. Reigns serve as the main event.

Keep in mind that historically, WWE doesn’t make the final call on which match will main event the show until the morning of each WrestleMania.

WrestleMania 34 is set to be held on Sunday, April 8, 2018, at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. This event airs on pay-per-view (PPV) and WWE Network. It’s the most successful and longest-running professional wrestling event in history. Both Raw and SmackDown rosters will be featured.

WrestleMania 34 Predictions

16

This weekend’s WrestleMania 34 pay-per-view is sure to be one of the top pro wrestling shows of the year. WrestleMania is always a huge deal, but WWE has stacked the deck with this year’s show. The card is strong from top to bottom and there are several special attractions (Daniel Bryan’s return, Ronda Rousey’s debut, Styles vs. Nakamura) that all but guarantee this is a show that will stand out from a historical perspective.

As we march towards Sunday, we gathered some predictions from the SEScoops team, including Robert Lentini, Brad Davis, Jake Jeremy, Fernando Quiles Jr. and Roderick Stedman. Here are our predictions for each match on the card. We encourage you to share your own predictions in the comments thread!

Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal

02818 1519772448 800

Robert: WWE likes to bring up NXT talent on special occasions.  Andrade “Cien” Almas and Adam Cole were in the Royal Rumble match this year.  Sullivan will be a force when he arrives on the main roster and maybe the WWE Universe will get a preview of that at WrestleMania 34.

Fernando: There should be some surprises at this year’s Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal. Celebrities such as Shaquille O’Neal and Rob Gronkowski have made their presence felt at the Battle Royal. I’m getting some WrestleMania 32 vibes with this one and I feel another NXT star will get the win here. My pick is Killian Dain.

Brad: This should be a fun filler match with some surprises, whether it’s NXT or the world of professional sports. I’d love to see a callback to WrestleMania 2 with a few New Orleans Saints NFL players, which you know the crowd would go nuts for. As for a prediction – I say Matt Hardy DELETES the other competitors and gets a WrestleMania Moment in this fifth installment of the Andre battle royal.

Roderick: Elias is a great shout.  However I’m going to throw in a curve ball in the form of Big Cass who returns from injury.

Consensus: A Superstar From NXT

Women’s Battle Royal

womens battle royal

Robert: Sasha Banks and Bayley haven’t been on the same page since the Elimination Chamber, where Banks betrayed Bayley and shoved her off one of the pods. I think Bayley will get her revenge in New Orleans and win the Women’s Battle Royal at WrestleMania 34.

Ian Carey: After doing something dastardly to Bayley, Sasha Banks.

Brad: There’s something oddly familiar about the shape of that trophy, I just can’t put my finger on it .. Anywho, Sasha Banks and Bayley kind of got the shaft by not getting a singles match on the main card. For that reason, I say one of those two get the win here – I’m going with the Boss.

Fernando: I expect more NXT stars to be a part of the women’s battle royal as well. While Sasha Banks and Bayley may be considered favorites to some, I believe they will cause each other’s eliminations and brawl to the back. It wouldn’t surprise me if a legend returns and wins it, but my pick is Becky Lynch as she needs this win perhaps more than anyone.

Roderick: Compared to the men’s battle royal, the women’s has a much larger pool of talent in the ring.  Naomi, Ruby Riot, Natalya and Becky Lynch are just some of the competitors who could win the historic match.  I’d like to see Bayley return to the reputation she had in NXT.

Consensus: Bayley

The Usos vs The New Day vs The Bludgeon Brothers

the bludgeon brothers fastlane

Robert: The Bludgeon Brothers have dominated New Day and The Usos lately and I don’t expect that to change at WrestleMania 34. The Usos will finally make a WrestleMania main card, but will drop their titles to Harper and Rowan.

Ian: I’m thinking The Uso’s win the triple threat tag match for the SmackDown Live tag team titles, but they will get the pin on New Day and not the Bludgeon Brothers.

Brad: This one has the potential to be a sleeper hit. The Usos and The New Day have had some killer matches and the Bro’s bring a level of physicality that changes the dynamic. WWE loves featuring The New Day, for better or for worse, and you could see WWE giving them to win so they can dance and celebrate a win on WWE’s biggest stage.

Fernando: No doubt about it, WWE seems high on this new gimmick for Luke Harper and Erick Rowan. The Usos and New Day have had a great rivalry, but SmackDown’s tag team division needs to spruce things up a bit. I don’t know if the Bludgeon Brothers are the answer, but I do believe they’ll become the new SmackDown tag team champions.

Roderick: Bludgeon Brothers.  Just watch their recent attacks and matches on SmackDown Live.  Harper’s agility and athleticism is remarkable!

Consensus: The Bludgeon Brothers

Cedric Alexander vs Mustafa Ali

cruiserweight

Robert: Both Alexander and Ali deserve the title at this point. This match is a total toss-up. This is a match that is completely flying under the radar right now. I have no idea where it will wind up on the card, but I just know that it will be a highly entertaining match that will be worth watching.

Ian: I’m taking Cedric Alexander to defeat Mustafa Ali.  Cedric has been so close many times and I feel this is his chance to finally wear the gold… or purple, or whatever.

Fernando: Man, this one is a tossup. Since the direction of 205 Live shifted, Alexander and Ali have been positioned as two of the most promising cruiserweights. I think Ali has gold in his future, but it won’t be at WrestleMania 34. It’s been a long time coming for Alexander and I believe he gets his rewards.

Roderick: Please don’t make me decide.  They’re both worthy.  Let’s go with Mustafa Ali to win so that Cedric Alexander can chase the title to win by SummerSlam.

Consensus:  Cedric Alexander

Alexa Bliss vs Nia Jax

Robert: Nia Jax deserves her WrestleMania moment and I think she is going to get it this year by defeating Alexa Bliss for the RAW Women’s Championship. WWE has been stop and go with Nia Jax. One week she looks like a dominant Superstar and then the next she is either losing a match or completely off the show. It is time for Nia Jax to become dominant on RAW every week.

Ian: Nia Jax will defeat Alexa Bliss.  She might even squash her in a short match.

Fernando: WWE has been saving Alexa Bliss’ comeuppance for WrestleMania. Fans have been clamoring for Nia Jax to not only get her hands on Bliss, but to also capture her first title in WWE. I think she’ll do just that.

Brad: WWE has been getting pretty heavy handed with the body shaming of Nia Jax #Blubber. I don’t think she’s ready for a championship push yet – Alexa Bliss is a much more polished act – but WWE would be somewhat tone deaf to not give Nia the last laugh after all they’ve put her through and the empowering “comfortable with herself” message they’ve been pushing. Nia goes over.

Roderick: Alexa Bliss must have been pretty relieved when Asuka chose Charlotte for her WrestleMania opponent.  However with Nia Jax, Bliss should still be extremely concerned.  It is time for Nia Jax to become a dominant Superstar on RAW.

SEScoops Winner: Nia Jax

The Bar vs Braun Strowman & Unknown Partner

Braun Strowman
Braun Strowman (Photo: Instagram @WWE)

Robert: The tag divisions on both RAW and SmackDown need a jolt. Strowman is one of the most popular Superstars on the roster right now, so it will help the division if he becomes a tag champ. Sheamus & Cesaro could use a fresh start on SmackDown after WrestleMania.

Brad: Braun Strowman clearly does not need a partner, but he’s more than ready to wear his first championship gold in WWE. James Ellsworth would be the perfect pick – and they’re money in them as a wacky unlikely duo. Ellsworth will be in town for WrestleMania weekend – but I don’t see WWE bringing him back as a full-time performer this soon. Samoa Joe returns as Strowman’s partner and the two monsters terrorize RAW’s tag team division for months to come.

Fernando: Rumors have been swirling that Rey Mysterio will be Braun Strowman’s tag team partner to challenge Sheamus and Cesaro for their titles. I don’t care if Gillberg teams with Strowman, “The Monster Among Men” is walking out of WrestleMania with gold.

Roderick: Strowman is winning this one… on his own.  No partner, no nothing.

Consensus: Braun Strowman

Randy Orton vs Bobby Roode vs Jinder Mahal vs Rusev

orton wins us title wwe fastlane

Robert: The crowd loves Rusev.  He singlehandedly has made this match interesting and is the only Superstar I want to see win this Fatal 4-Way.

Fernando: Rusev may have been added to this United States title match at the last minute, but I think he’ll be celebrating Rusev Day with another U.S. title reign. The momentum Rusev has seems to be too great for even the WWE to ignore.

Brad: Had it not been for the addition of Rusev, this would have been my surefire bathroom/beer break. Jinder Mahal would be a logical choice here – and he was probably better suited for the US Championship than his never-ending WWE title reign, but WWE is not blind to the popularity of Rusev day.

Roderick: No one wants Randy Orton and Jinder Mahal to be in the same ring ever again, and while Bobby Roode has potential, and 2018 will surely be glorious, it’ll be Rusev’s Day without a doubt.

Consensus: Rusev

The Miz vs Seth Rollins vs Finn Balor

Robert: The Miz has done an admirable job with the Intercontinental Championship, but I think it is time he lets it go for a bit. Seth Rollins should be vying for the WWE Championship or the Universal Championship. I wouldn’t mind seeing Rollins switch brands during WWE’s Superstar Shake-Up following WrestleMania. He belongs in the main event and maybe he will get that chance on SmackDown. Finn Balor would make an awesome Intercontinental Champion because he is capable of putting on the best match of the night every time he goes to the ring.

Brad: The Miz just won the IC title back recently – he’s not dropping it just yet. The money is in the chase – and whether it’s Seth Rollins or Finn Balor who ultimately catches him, they’re going to continue running with Miz as champion.

Ian: The Intercontinental Championship Match to me is the hardest to predict.  One line of thinking says Miz will hold the title until he is just about to break Morales’ record and then he’ll lose; another line of thinking is they can just do that story later anyway.  I think Finn Balor takes the title his match however.

Fernando: Three main event wrestlers fighting for the Intercontinental title certainly should make the title seem relevant again. Miz has made it clear that he wants to be known as the greatest Intercontinental champion of all time. I think he steals one here and retains his gold.

Roderick: Finn Balor wins the match to set up a rematch which sees The Miz terrified by The Demon as only he could.

Consensus: Finn Balor

Daniel Bryan & Shane McMahon vs Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn

daniel bryan smackdown 3 27

Robert: It wouldn’t be right for Daniel Bryan to lose his first match back in WWE. I am expecting someone to tap out to the Yes Lock, or get pinned following a running knee to the face from Bryan. I’m looking forward to the crowd reaction to Daniel Bryan more than the match itself. I’m not going to expect a ton out of Daniel Bryan in his first match. I think the crowd in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome will add a ton to this match and make it feel even more special.

Ian: I’m picking Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens to defeat Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon to get their jobs back.

Brad: A month ago, who would have imagined we’d be talking about Daniel Bryan’s in-ring return in the building that he achieved his biggest career milestone. Bryan and Shane will make for one hell of a team – but I say Shane turns on Bryan and screws him over. Owens and Zayn will pick up the win here – with Bryan feuding with all 3 in the months ahead.

Fernando: You couldn’t script it any better. Daniel Bryan’s return match is happening in the same place where he capture the WWE World Heavyweight title back at WrestleMania 30. I don’t see WWE giving Bryan a loss even with the possibility of Shane getting pinned. I see Bryan making Owens or Zayn tap to the “Yes Lock” sending the “Yep Movement” to Monday Night Raw.

Roderick: Prepare for waterworks, we could see tears as Daniel Bryan picks up the win on his return.

Consensus:Daniel Bryan & Shane McMahon

Charlote Flair vs Asuka

asuka flair

Robert: Charlotte versus Asuka is one of the matches I am most looking forward to at WrestleMania 34. I think it would be a bad idea to end Asuka’s streak at WrestleMania 34. Asuka needs to win the title and continue winning. Charlotte could very well wind up being the Superstar that defeats Asuka, but just not at WrestleMania 34.

Fernando: It’s hard to imagine that Asuka’s streak would end before capturing a title and before going one-on-one with Ronda Rousey. Charlotte will provide the challenger with a stern test, but in the end I see Asuka taking it. I think she’ll make Charlotte pass out rather than tap.

Brad: There is still a lot of mileage in the thank for Asuka’s undefeated streak. I expect this to be one of the biggest matches on the show – and it really says a lot that WWE has two Japanese performers with limited English speaking ability challenging for two of the company’s top titles. These two have a very good chance of stealing the show and this is one of the matches I’m most looking forward to. I predict Asuaka is crowned queen and moves over to the SmackDown brand ahead of the next Superstar Shake-Up.

Roderick: If AJ Styles vs Nakamura doesn’t make match of the night, Charlotte versus Asuka will, with Asuka winning her first title on the main roster.  What’s that I hear you ask?  Will Carmella cash in?  No.

Jake Jeremy: Charlotte vs Asuka will be one of the most important matches in WWE history.  It could determine whether WWE takes a chance on the Women’s Division headlining next year’s show with Asuka vs Ronda Rousey.  For now, Asuka to win.

Consensus: Asuka

Kurt Angle & Ronda Rousey vs Triple H & Stephanie McMahon

658075 ronda rousey kurt angle wwe

Robert: I’m hoping that this match turns out well. Rousey is new to the world of professional wrestling, so it was smart to place her in a match alongside Kurt Angle, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. I’m not expecting an instant class, but I think we will see Ronda Rousey force Stephanie McMahon to tap out.

Ian: Angle and Rousey defeat Triple H and Stephanie McMahon.  This will bring Triple H’s WM losses up to 13.

Brad: Ronda Rousey’s first-ever professional wrestling match. Kurt Angle’s WrestleMania return. There’s no way in hell these two don’t go over. Yeah, there’s always the possibility of a screwy heel turn here, but I already predicted the screwy heel turn in the Bryan/Shane match. Rousey and Angle get their feel-good WrestleMania moment and WWE hammers home for Ronda Rousey that she made the right call by joining WWE.

Fernando: I can totally see Triple H and Stephanie picking up a win, even if it isn’t the right thing to do. At the same time, Triple H has a bevy of WrestleMania losses. For the sake of Ronda Rousey’s future and Kurt Angle’s WrestleMania return, I believe “The Game” and the bosses’ daughter will take a backseat.

Roderick: I’m predicting a simultaneous armbar/ankle lock during the match at some point, with Ronda Rousey and Kurt Angle picking up the win.

Consensus: Ronda Rousey & Kurt Angle

AJ Styles vs Shinsuke Nakamura

styles nakamura smackdown 3 27

Robert: Nakamura won the men’s Royal Rumble match and immediately selected AJ Styles as his opponent at WrestleMania 34. It has been billed as a “dream match” and rightfully so. I’d like to see Shinsuke Nakamura win the WWE Championship on April 8th. Nakamura is an incredibly talented Superstar that has had an up and down first year on the main roster. It would be awesome to see his efforts culminate in winning the WWE Championship at the biggest show of the year. AJ Styles is the perfect opponent for Nakamura, as he will bring out the best in him. I simply cannot wait to see this match.

Brad: I predict this match steals the show and Shinsuke Nakamura is crowned WWE Champion.

Ian: AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura is another tough one.  Which guy do you keep strong?  I’m taking Nakamura to win the title here.

Fernando: When these two met at Wrestle Kingdom 10, the roof nearly blew off the Tokyo Dome. The atmosphere will still be insane. A lot has been made about the injury status of Styles. Honestly, even without the injury my pick remains unchanged. I’ve got Nakamura making history.

Roderick: If you compare the first year of Shinsuke Nakamura on the main roster with AJ Styles, it’s easy to give AJ Styles the win straight away.  I think we’ve seen flashes of brilliance from Nakamura, while Styles has been Mr Consistency, but in the end I’d like to see Nakamura with the belt by the end of the night.

Jake Jeremy: This has been ‘The Match’ ever since the moment they stood opposite each other at Money In The Bank.  WWE has done the right thing in keeping these two apart until now.  As for who will win? Nakamura.

Consensus: Nakamura

Brock Lesnar vs Roman Reigns

brock lesnar reigns wrestlemania 34

Robert: I would be absolutely shocked if Roman Reigns does not defeat Brock Lesnar to become the new Universal Champion at WrestleMania 34. Everyone already knows that WWE wants Roman Reigns to be the face of the company and everyone is going to reject it again. Reigns will survive Suplex City, kick out of an F-5 and then win the match with a giant Spear. Yay.

Ian: Unfortunately, Roman Reigns defeats Brock Lesnar here.

Roderick: I’ve been told time and time again by SEScoops contributor Jake Jeremy that Roman was destined for the Universal Title at WrestleMania 34, even before he defeated The Undertaker… he’s been spot on the money all the way along.

Fernando: Roman Reigns has to win this match, right? Even if Lesnar re-signs with WWE, it’s hard to imagine having Lesnar reign much longer under his schedule. It’s even more difficult to picture WWE’s golden boy falling to a part-timer fair and square in the main event of WrestleMania. There really is no other option in my mind.

Jake Jeremy: If Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns mainevent, the crowd could (will) dampen the ending where Roman stands tall with the Universal title.  Hopefully Cena/Taker or AJ/Nakamura main event to leave the crowd happy… potentially.

Brad: Is there really any other scenario here beyond Roman Reigns slaying the beast? Reigns has been getting better reactions from WWE crowds in recent months and WWE has done enough damage to part-timer Brock Lesnar that this probably won’t be rejected like it could have otherwise. The best part of this match is Reigns will finally beat Lesnar and this cloud that’s been looming over WWE for years will finally pass. Make no mistake about it – Roman Reigns is now “the guy” and we’ll move on to the next chapter of his story where the big plot point isn’t so predictable a 4th grader could see it coming a mile away.

Consensus: Roman Reigns

Charlotte Flair Has High Expectations For Match Against Asuka At WrestleMania 34

4

WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair is finding her spot on the blue brand since being moved from WWE’s flagship show, Monday Night RAW, last year after WrestleMania 33.

The daughter of WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair has been a core part of the women’s division in the sports entertainment company since being called up to the main roster in 2015 during the Women’s Revolution storyline.

She has won championships both in NXT and on the main roster.

The WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion recently spoke with Xfinity to promote WrestleMania 34 where she’s slated to defend her title against the undefeated Asuka. Flair has high expectations for this upcoming title defense.

“Like you said, there have been so many firsts. But for me personally, I’ve had so many big matches. But how have we not crossed paths? So, when Asuka won the Women’s Royal Rumble and I was in the ring with her and Alexa Bliss and then Ronda Rousey came out, I was thinking, “I really want Asuka to pick me. That’s who I want at Wrestlemania.”

Just the Empress vs. the Queen. Not to sound corny, but it just feels right. It’s the perfect storm. And she has so much respect worldwide and I have such respect for her and her style. She already has a story, with us not even having this long build, it just works. I have the title, she has the streak. Who’s supposed to beat who? It’s two bulls going head to head.”

“(Laughs) I’ll just shake her hand. Because everybody bows down to the queen.”

The biggest acquisition in recent years from the WWE has been signing of former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey, who is slated is set to team up with Kurt Angle to take on Triple H and Stephanie McMahon in a Mixed Tag Team Match at WrestleMania 34.

“I haven’t seen her since the Royal Rumble, but Ronda didn’t get where she is in UFC without working hard and dedication. I think the only thing that’s different in our industry is the level of entertainment that you have to put behind it. But, she’s already done movies. So, if she can excel at something like that, I know she can do the same here. Having Kurt Angle as a partner, I’m sure he’s given her loads of advice, being an Olympic athlete and making the transition to WWE.

I have no doubt in my mind that she’s been in pressure situations. She probably does better under pressure. I hope I get to see her at Wrestlemania and tell her, “You know who you are.” That’s what my dad always says, “Just know who you are when you walk through that curtain because that’s all that matters.”
