WWE Mixed Match Challenge (3/27): Bobby Roode & Becky Lynch vs. Finn Balor & Sasha Banks

7

Bobby Roode & Becky Lynch faced Finn Balor & Sasha Banks this week in the Mixed Match Challenge. Charlotte was held out of action this week and the fans voted Becky Lynch to be her replacement.

https://twitter.com/BeckyLynchWWE/status/978750873001226240

Becky Lynch did her best imitation of Bobby Roode during their entrance. Finn Balor and Roode started off the match in the ring. Roode did his glorious pose and Balor responded with a too sweet and placed his fingers on Roode’s head. Becky and Sasha tagged in. Becky mimicked Bayley’s taunt and that pissed Sasha Banks off. Banks and Lynch traded punches and then Balor tagged back in.

Finn beatdown Roode for a bit before Banks and Lynch tagged back in. Banks connected with Double Knees and went for the cover but Becky kicked out at two. Sasha quickly went for a roll-up but Becky was once again able to kick out. Banks drove Becky to the corner and then made her way to the top rope. That wound up being a mistake as Becky battled back and planted her with a Superplex.

Roode and Balor got back into the match and Balor quickly took control. Balor connected with a Double Stomp for a two count. Roode battled back and connected with a Blockbuster off the second rope for a two count. Finn planted Roode with a Slingblade and was gearing up for the Coup de Grace but Banks tagged herself in. Banks connected with Double Knees off the top on Becky. Balor and Roode battled outside the ring and Finn decked him with a Dropkick into the barricade. Back in the ring, Becky rolled up Sasha out of nowhere for the victory.

RAW GM Kurt Angle came down to the entrance ramp and announced that Bobby Roode & Charlotte will face The Miz & Asuka in the finals of the Mixed Match Challenge.

5 Takeaways From WWE SmackDown (3/27)

Rusev Was Added To The United States Championship Match At WrestleMania 34

fatal 4 way match wrestlemania 34

Bobby Roode teamed up with Randy Orton to face Jinder Mahal and Sunil Singh to kickoff this week’s episode of SmackDown. Mahal came down to the entrance ramp with Sunil, who was bandaged up and selling injuries. Jinder announced that he has found a replacement partner for Sunil and then Rusev came down to the ring to partner with Jinder Mahal.

The crowd immediately chanted “Rusev Day!” as Mahal and Roode started off the match. Jinder connected with a shoulder tackle and knocked Roode to the mat. Roode battled back and hit an Atomic Drop. Bobby knocked Rusev off the ring apron and hit a Blockbuster off the second rope on Mahal for a two count. Sunil Singh hopped up on the ring apron and Orton slammed him into the barricade as SmackDown went to a commercial break.

When SmackDown returned, Roode had Rusev trapped in the corner and hit him with a couple of chops. Orton aggressively tagged himself in and had a stare down with Roode. Orton slammed Rusev to the mat and then tagged Roode back in. Roode beatdown Rusev some more and quickly tagged Orton back in. Rusev booted Orton in the head for a two count and then tagged Jinder in.

Mahal stomped on Orton’s midsection a few times and tagged Rusev back into the match. Rusev planted Orton with a Suplex for a one count. Mahal got back in and applied a Chin Lock to Orton. Randy countered into a Suplex to break the hold. Orton tagged in Roode and Bobby leveled Mahal with a forearm to the face. Roode followed it up with a Neckbreaker and then knocked Rusev off the apron. Bobby climbed to the top rope and connected with a Clothesline.

Bobby went for the Glorious DDT but Mahal blocked it. Roode hit a Spinebuster and went for the cover, but Rusev hopped into the ring to break it up. Mahal battled back and hit a boot to the face for a two count as SmackDown went to a commercial break. When SmackDown returned, Mahal and Roode were trading shots in the ring. Jinder connected with a knee to the face for a two count.

Rusev tagged in and planted Roode with a Suplex. He hit a couple stomps on Roode and then quickly tagged Jinder back in. Mahal applied a Chin Lock in the middle of the ring but Bobby battled out of it. Roode chopped Jinder across the chest and Orton tagged himself. Bobby didn’t realize and started shouting at Orton that he had him.

Rusev tagged back in and Orton greeted him with a Powerslam. Orton followed it up with a DDT while Rusev was caught up in the ropes. Mahal got into the ring and Roode met him there. Mahal shoved Roode into Orton and knocked Randy to the mat. Roode Clotheslined Mahal out of the ring and turned around into an RKO from Orton. Rusev then hit Orton with the Machka Kick for the pinfall victory.

https://twitter.com/totaldivaseps/status/978791699236474880

After the match, Jinder Mahal was shown backstage with Rusev. Mahal thanked Rusev and said that he wanted to get him front row tickets to WrestleMania 34. Rusev boasted about pinning the U.S. Champion and said that he had a better idea and stated that he was going to find Daniel Bryan to make the United States Championship match a Fatal 4-Way at WrestleMania.

Opinion: Oh hell yes!  Orton vs. Roode vs. Mahal has nothing going for it. The crowd loves Rusev Day and it will be one of the better reactions of the night when Rusev comes down to the ring at WrestleMania 34. I thought Rusev was just going to be thrown into the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. This is a much better option and I’d like to see Rusev actually win the title. This version of Rusev is much more entertaining than the stereotypical foreign heel he was portraying when he was United States Champion before. English and Rusev are entertaining together and Rusev has a connection with the crowd that WWE needs to capitalize on.

Becky Lynch Got The Better Of The Riott Squad

becky lynch smackdown 3 27

Becky Lynch faced Ruby Riott tonight on SmackDown. Becky controlled the match early and connected with a Dropkick that knocked Ruby out of the ring. Becky followed her out there and booted her in the midsection. Becky threw Riott back into the ring and got distracted with Sarah Logan and Liv Morgan for a moment. Ruby took advantage and knocked Becky off the apron and to the floor outside the ring.

Riott launched Becky into the barricade and then threw her back into the ring. Ruby went for the cover but Becky kicked out at two. Ruby drove her knee into Becky’s back a couple of time and followed it up with a Clothesline for two. Sarah Logan delivered a cheap shot to Becky while the referee wasn’t paying attention.

Becky battled back and connected with a shoulder tackle. Becky followed it up with a flurry of forearms and then a couple of Clotheslines. Becky followed it up with a Dropkick and made her way to the top rope. Sarah Logan hopped up on the ring apron and the distraction allowed Riott to slam Becky’s face into the turnbuckle. Riott tried to pin Becky using the ropes for leverage, but the referee caught her. Becky went for the Dis-Arm-Her but Liv Morgan hopped onto the ring apron. Becky knocked Liv into Logan outside the ring and then rolled up Ruby for the victory. After the match, Becky fought off the Riott Squad and threw them over the top rope. Lynch and the Riott Squad will be in the women’s Battle Royal at WrestleMania 34.

Daniel Bryan & Shane McMahon vs. Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn Was Made Official For WrestleMania 34

daniel bryan promo smackdown 3 27

SmackDown GM Daniel Bryan came down to the entrance ramp and the crowd chanted his name. Bryan acknowledged the crowd and brought up what went down last week. Bryan said that last week was one of the greatest moments of his career, because after so long he finally got the news that he was cleared.

Bryan announced that he had a job to do as the GM of SmackDown Live. Bryan proposed to give Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens one more opportunity. Bryan said that his proposal was that Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn face Shane McMahon & Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 34. Bryan noted that Shane McMahon has been hospitalized, but he has good reason to believe that Shane will be ready to go.

Daniel then laid out the stipulations for the match. If he and Shane win, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn remain fired. If Owens and Zayn win, they will be reinstated to SmackDown. Daniel claimed that he has given Owens and Zayn a ton of opportunities because he has known them for 15 years and he has fought with them in the past.

Bryan went on to list all the things he had to do as a GM, like sit in board meetings and wear suits. Daniel added that he is sick of meetings, paperwork and blazers. Bryan ripped off his blazer and stated that Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens tried to take his ability to wrestle away from him. Bryan got fired up and said that he is back and that he will fight at WrestleMania. The crowd chanted “yes!” as Bryan said that there are a lot of things that he has tried to avoid saying. Daniel went on a rant and shouted that he is going to kick Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn’s ass at WrestleMania and the crowd erupted.

https://twitter.com/totaldivaseps/status/978802015299100672

Sami Zayn posted the following on Twitter shortly after Daniel Bryan issued the challenge:

Opinion: The reaction for Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 34 is going to be amazing. I can’t imagine Bryan being SmackDown GM for much longer. He clearly wants to return to being a WWE Superstar. The stipulation for this match is pretty interesting, as I would be surprised in Daniel Bryan loses his first match back. Owens and Zayn could lose at WrestleMania and then return to RAW following the PPV. I’m just looking forward to this match and the energy that is going to be in the crowd when Bryan gets back in the ring.

The SmackDown Tag Team Championship Match For WrestleMania 34 Was Announced

smackdown tag championship match wrestlemania 34

New Day came down to the ring and cut a promo about the Bludgeon Brothers interfering in their tag title match at WWE Fastlane. New Day vowed to defeat the Bludgeon Brothers and faced Harper and Rowan next.

Harper and Rowan dominated the match early. Xavier Woods was trapped in the ring and Rowan planted him with a Backbreaker and tagged Harper in. Harper raked at Woods’ eyes and then shoved him to the corner. Harper chopped Xavier across the chest, but Woods battled back with a forearm to the face. Rowan threw Kofi Kingston into Big E on the apron and Big E fell to the floor.

Rowan slammed Big E on the apron and then rolled him into the ring. Rowan grabbed the two mallets and started walking towards the ring but The Usos came to the rescue. The referee called for the ball as a brawl broke out. New Day teamed up and knocked Harper out of the ring. The Usos and New Day started arguing in the ring and that allowed Harper and Rowan to get back into the ring with their mallets. New Day and The Usos rolled out of the ring and retreated as Harper and Rowan stood tall again.

It was announced right before the main event of SmackDown that The Usos will defend the SmackDown Tag Team Championships against The Bludgeon Brothers and New Day in a Triple Threat Tag Team match.

Opinion: I’m glad this match was finally announced, I was getting a bit worried that The Usos would be left off the WrestleMania card again. WWE has done a nice job of building up the Bludgeon Brothers over the past few weeks and they seem unbeatable. The Bludgeon Brothers was a gimmick that I thought was destined to fail and I was completely wrong. Harper & Rowan have done excellent with it and now have a title match at WrestleMania. That is very impressive and congratulations to them because they have earned it.

Shinsuke Nakamura Continued To Play Mind Games With AJ Styles

styles nakamura smackdown 3 27

Shinsuke Nakamura approached AJ Styles backstage early in the show. Nakamura pointed out that it looked like AJ Styles was losing confidence and AJ denied it. Shinsuke said that he needed AJ in his corner tonight against Shelton Benhjamin and AJ stated he would be there. AJ added that he is only going to be there to ensure that Nakamura is at 100% leading into WrestleMania 34.

https://twitter.com/totaldivaseps/status/978794714815258624

Nakamura faced Shelton Benjamin in the main event of this week’s episode of SmackDown. Nakamura controlled the beginning of the match and knocked Shelton out of the ring as SmackDown went to a break. When SmackDown returned, Benjamin was in control as Gable was cheering him ringside. WWE Champion AJ Styles casually looked on as Nakamura battled back with a kick to the face.

Shinsuke shouted “come on!” to Benajamin and kneed him in the face. Nakamura draped Benjamin across the top rope and kneed him in the ribs. Nakamura geared up for the Kinshasa, but Chad Gable hopped up on the ring apron. AJ dragged Gable down to the floor as Benjamin planted Shinsuke with a Northern Lights Suplex for count.

https://twitter.com/totaldivaseps/status/978812663676456960

Nakamura applied an Arm Bar in the middle of the ring. Shelton countered into a Half Crab submission for a second, but Nakamura quickly countered into another Arm Bar. Shelton broke free and booted Shinsuke in the face. Nakamura responded with a flying knee off the second rope. Shinsuke then hit the Kinshasa for the pinfall victory.

https://twitter.com/totaldivaseps/status/978813053713207296

After the match, Shinsuke Nakamura asked AJ Styles to come into the ring. Nakamura thanked AJ for being in his corner but said that he never needed his help. Shinsuke stated that he only wanted AJ to see how he will beat him at WrestleMania. AJ said that he wont be playing any games at WrestleMania and noted that he and Nakamura are going to tear the house down at WrestleMania. Styles stated that when he defeats Nakamura at WrestleMania, it will prove that he is better than him and the best. Shinsuke accused AJ of being too emotional and that is why he is going to defeat him at WrestleMania.

Nakamura got out of the ring and Gable & Benjamin attacked Styles from behind. Shinsuke got into the ring and fought them off. Nakamura geared up for the Kinshasa on Styles but stopped short. Nakamura then shouted “knee to face” and mockingly patted AJ Styles on the top of the head as SmackDown went off the air.

Opinion: I thought this was a great promo by Nakamura and Styles to close the show. Shinsuke is amusing and the pat on the head to close the show was very funny. Whether you like the build or not for this match, there is no denying that this match has the potential to be incredible and I cannot wait to see it. We are only 12 days away from seeing two of the best wrestlers in the world perform in the ring at the biggest show of the year.

Nakamura says he wants AJ at his best at WrestleMania, and he wants to be his best at WrestleMania, so he wants AJ in his corner tonight for his match. Nakamura comes back for the save and suplexes Gable. He kicks Benjamin in the face, then looks like he wants to do the Kinshasa to AJ, but he doesn’t do it. Nakamura leaves as AJ recovers in the ring and SmackDown goes off the air.

Mike Tyson: I’d Love to be Back in WWE

10

Mike Tyson is someone who many WWE fans are familiar with.

Tyson is a Hall of Fame boxer. He’s won multiple championships in the heavyweight division. With scintillating knockouts over the likes of Trevor Berbick, Michael Spinks, Larry Holmes, and many more Tyson’s fan base grew astronomically.

During the 1990s, Tyson had developed a reputation for being a bruiser with a bad attitude and that’s exactly the direction the WWE was going in. The company brought Tyson on board to be the special guest referee in the main event of WrestleMania 14. Tyson ended up raising Stone Cold Steve Austin’s hand and handed the WWE title to him over the fallen Shawn Michaels. “HBK” received a right hand to the jaw from Tyson soon after.

Years later, Tyson was invited back for an episode of Monday Night Raw as the guest host. Tyson was later inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame class of 2012. Tyson felt the love from WWE fans, and he wants to experience it again.

WWE’s Cathy Kelly was on the scene at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards and briefly spoke to Tyson, who said the following:

“I’m always willing to come back. I love the WWE, yeah. I’d love to be back.”

Cody Offers “Apology” to The Young Bucks Following Strong Style Evolved

6

Cody has acknowledged his actions at NJPW Strong Style Evolved.

In the main event of the AXS TV live special, The Young Bucks competed against the Golden Lovers in a tag team dream match. The contest lived up to the hype and at the end of it, it was Kenny Omega and Kota Ibushi who picked up the win. Drama ensued after the match was over.

Cody ran down to the ring and got in Matt Jackson’s face for eating the pin. Nick Jackson tried to calm Cody down, but was shoved to the mat for his efforts. Cody took off his blazer and looked ready to attack his “friends” when the Golden Lovers returned to the ring to make the save.

Cody took to Twitter to issue an “apology:”

“It is with a heavy heart and the hope that this will be read by open minds, that I release this statement.

Nick Jackson is my friend. At the climax of last night’s “Strong Style Evolved” it appeared that I deliberately, and with malice, shoved him to the mat. That was 100% not the case.

After having just witnessed one of the most unbelievable matches of my generation, I became frustrated as I (like many others in attendance and watching at home) was hoping for a different result. My frustration was my undoing. In a misguided attempt to motivate Matt Jackson, I became so unaware of my surroundings…I assumed it was Kenny Omega who grabbed me by the arm and instinctually I shoved him backwards outta’ self defense. Imagine my horror upon seeing that it was my best friend Nick.

This is the truth.

A truth I hope the fans and my peers can respect and understand. Regardless, I formally apologize to Nick, Matt, and the entire Massie family.

Thank you.”

WWE Announces Jeff Jarrett’s Hall Of Fame Inductor

18

WWE has officially announced who will be inducting Jeff Jarrett into the WWE Hall of Fame this year and it’s quite fitting, to say the least.

On Tuesday morning, the sports entertainment company announced that former WWE star and current agent, Road Dogg will do the honors for the former WWE Intercontinental Champion.

If you recall, Dogg and Jarrett were paired together on television starting in 1994. Dogg was known as The Roadie, acting as Jarrett’s gofer as he tried to use WWE to springboard to country music superstardom.

Some fans may not remember this but, Dogg provided the vocals for Jarrett’s debut single, “With My Baby Tonight.”

WWE holds their 2018 Hall of Fame ceremony on Friday, April 6th in New Orleans, Louisiana at the Smoothie King Center and will air on WWE’s streaming service, WWE Network. Bill Goldberg will headline the class.

Jarrett reacted to the news by writing the following on his official Twitter account:

AJ Styles On Potential Match With Daniel Bryan, Wrestling Nakamura At WrestleMania

2

WWE Champion AJ Styles is going into his third WrestleMania with the WWE, and just like the previous two events, he is being booked in a prominent role at the biggest event of the year for the sports entertainment company.

Styles faced former WWE Champion Chris Jericho at WrestleMania 32 in 2016 and then wrestled SmackDown Commissioner Shane McMahon in the opener of WrestleMania 33 last year. Now, he’s slated to defend his title against Shinsuke Nakamura at WrestleMania 34 next month.

The WWE Champion recently spoke with Justin Barrasso of SI.com to promote the upcoming event. During the interview, he talked about his dream match against Nakamura at WrestleMania 34.

“This match is special because we’ve yet to see it in WWE,” said Styles. “The only other time we were in the ring together was more than two years ago [in New Japan Pro Wrestling].

“We gave people a taste in the “Money in the Bank” match, and that moment let everyone in the back know how special this match could be. The fans responded by asking for this match, and I want to give it to them. Shinsuke won the Royal Rumble, so now we have that opportunity.”

“If you know the history between myself and Shinsuke, you’re pretty excited about this match,” said Styles. “But even if you don’t, just think what Shinsuke Nakamura is capable of and what AJ Styles is capable of. To mix those two together is going to be something special.”

“Shinsuke has the same mindset,” said Styles. “He wants this to be one of the greatest matches in WrestleMania history. I don’t know if we’re going to reach that level, but we’re certainly going to try.”

Since SmackDown General manager Daniel Bryan was cleared last week by WWE doctors, there have been many fans expressing their desire to see Bryan wrestle Styles in a WWE ring. Styles made it clear in this interview that he’s up for the challenge.

“Shoot, now that he’s cleared, who knows when Daniel Bryan and I will have the opportunity to get in the ring together?” asked Styles. “But who knows when I’ll get in the ring with Seth Rollins, or again with Finn Balor, or even Randy Orton? There are guys I have yet to get in the ring with, but now that Daniel Bryan is cleared and ready, he’s in line. Who knows what’s going to come first? There are a lot of great things that will happen in the next couple years.”

9 Women From “Camp Moolah” Denounce Allegations Against Fabulous Moolah

11

9 female wrestlers who trained & lived at the infamous “Camp Moolah” come forward to denounce the allegations against the Fabulous Moolah, which led to WWE removing her name from the upcoming WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal.

The allegations against Moolah involve her stealing money, drugging and prostituting the young female wrestlers she was housing, training and managing. In the wake of these allegations, 9 former female wrestlers who worked for Moolah and lived at the infamous “Camp Moolah” in Columbia, SC, have stepped forward to denounce the claims and proclaim her innocence.

The following accounts were sent in by The Matt Riviera Show:

One of the women, Leilani Kai, is a former WWE Women’s Champion & lived at Camp Moolah for 20 years: “She had never once drugged any of us” Kai stated on a recent episode of Madusa’s Full Throttle Podcast. “She was a champion, she was a booker, and she was a great legend. And she deserves to be honored for enternity…”

One man who has been working diligently to shed light onto this situation is wrestling industry insider, Nigel Sherrod, who has been interviewing former female wrestlers that worked for Moolah ever since the controversy broke. He has interviewed 8 of Moolah’s girls, so far, including:

Former NWA Women’s Champion,  Susan “Tex” Green: “How much (money) did Moolah take from you?” Sherrod asks. “30%” replies Green. “Which… I signed a contract. I didn’t have a problem with that… she was putting me in the ring, in front of the people, in front of the writers that put my face & pictures out in magazines. So I took that all in stride.” As for allegations of Moolah pimping girls? “… nobody ever came to my room late at night”.

“Golden Girl” Lisa Darnell, the youngest trainee ever at “Camp Moolah” at age 16: “She never did anything that was inappropriate at all…  And me being the youngest person there, like they said, she was pimping the girls out? That’s just ridiculous… I would have been the one she pimped out. I was a young, fresh girl, you know?”

Moolah’s daughter, Mary Ellison, who also trained at “Camp Moolah”: “I don’t know who made up the rumors, but it’s a lie… About Sweet Georgia Brown, I don’t know who brought that up, but she did go with Buddy Lee (Moolah’s Ex Husband) when they split… some of the girls went with him, & some of them stayed with my mother. And the ones that went with him, I wouldn’t be surprised if there were drugs & prostitution involved. Which would be back on him, not on my mother.”

Brittany Brown, Multi Time Champion: “If anything like that ever did happen to me, I would have flown back home to Boston faster than you could even write her name down… and I’m sure most everybody else that I knew there would’ve, too… I saw the contracts. It spelled out word for word, by the penny, what percentage she took…. 40 years later or 30 years later, for people to say, “Oh, my God! I can’t believe she took 30% of my pay. I should’ve been getting that.” Well, no. You signed the contract. You wanted to be on TV so bad, that 30% was okay with you… Was it high? I don’t know, but if you thought it was, you shouldn’t have signed it.”

Little wrestler, Diamond Lil on Moolah pimping out wrestlers: “That’s a lie, it never happened. Whoever’s saying that is crazy.”

Native American wrestler, and former Tag Team partner of Luna Vachon, Winona Littleheart: “No way. She never pimped me out. And as far as I know, none of the other girls that I know.

Former WWF Superstar, Peggy Lee Leather: “No, she was not a pimp. She was my booker. She booked me for a certain percentage. And all this about being a pimp, it just makes me just almost sick inside. Because that’s saying that I was pimped out by The Fabulous Moolah. She was nothing but a business woman. A shrewd one.  On allegations by the late Luna Vachon that Moolah forced her to take inappropriate pictures for a local doctor while she was underage: “I think it was Dr. Goldstein, and he liked women’s wrestling, and he liked to take photos of them… Moolah would just, you know, approach the girl & just ask them would they like to go out there… I know several of them that went out there… not one of them told me that he did anything derogatory in any way or mentioned anything about sex… When Luna got there, she’d already had two children at that time & she was going through a divorce with her husband… She was in her 20’s when she got to Moolah’s, she wasn’t 16.

Multi Time Champion, Joyce Grable: “As far as I was concerned, she never sent me nobody. And hey, I had a good body, back then.  I was kind of pretty, long blonde hair. Especially when I went to Puerto Rico. Mexico. If she was gonna pimp somebody out, I would’ve been #1 on the list”

AJ Styles Reveals If He Will Renew His WWE Contract After It Expires

8

For years now, fans have wanted to see AJ Styles compete in a WWE ring and now that has happened, he is a main event player for the sports entertainment company.

Styles first appeared on WWE television in 2002 but turned down a developmental contract he was offered by the company.

He signed a multi-year contract with WWE fourteen years later in January 2016 and made his re-debut at that month’s Royal Rumble. After appearing at his first WrestleMania that April against Chris Jericho, Styles headlined multiple pay-per-view events and won winning WWE Championship at Backlash in September.

He held the title up until 2017’s edition of the Royal Rumble in January. Styles has also won the United States Championship twice. He then won the WWE Title in late 2017.

The WWE Champion was recently interviewed by Raute Musik to promote WrestleMania 34 where he is slated to defend the WWE Title against Shinsuke Nakamura.

During the interview, he was asked if he will renew with the WWE after his contract expires and if he has plans for what he will do after retiring from in-ring competition. Here is what he had to say:

“I don’t see why not if I can still do what I do. Like, if I can still be AJ Styles, then I would like to keep working in the WWE in a talent form, so as long as I can keep going, then I would like to keep working here.”

“I think there is definitely going to be a time to just sit and chill with the family, but a guy like me just doesn’t sit at at home, so I would like to get back on the road, either as an Agent, or more importantly, become a Trainer of some sort. Who knows what will be around in WWE by the time I retire. There may be a better job than that.”

Reason Why WWE Has Delayed John Cena vs. The Undertaker Match Announcement

26

For weeks now, WWE fans have been wondering when the WWE will announce that John Cena would face The Undertaker at WrestleMania 34.

However, despite the speculation, the sports entertainment company continues to delay the match announcement. The former WWE Champion has been calling out The Deadman for weeks now for a match at the biggest event of the year for the sports entertainment company. However, there has been nothing from Taker.

Many people thought due to the fact that we are two weeks away from Mania, Taker would appear on this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw in Cleveland, Ohio at the Quicken Loans Arena on the USA Network as Kane battled Cena in a No DQ match in the main event. That was not the case.

Dave Meltzer gave an update on the situation during the most recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio. The longtime pro wrestling journalist speculated that the reason the WWE has held off on his match announcement is due to WWE Chairman Vince McMahon feeling that they have already announced a loaded card and it can wait.

“They will wait until the last week as the thing is realistically, they have a loaded card and it’s not like they will have trouble selling tickets. The idea is with Daniel Bryan’s return and Ronda Rousey’s match, you know Shinsuke Nakamura and AJ Styles and Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns. I think maybe Vince figures ‘hey, it’s a loaded up card, we can wait until the last week to push Cena vs. Undertaker.’

WrestleMania 34 is set to be held on Sunday, April 8, 2018, at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. This event airs on pay-per-view (PPV) and WWE Network. It’s the most successful and longest-running professional wrestling event in history.

Macaulay Culkin Still Gunning For A WrestleMania Match

10

Actor, podcaster and musician extraordinaire Macaulay Culkin is still pushing for a match at next weekend’s WWE WrestleMania 34 pay-per-view.

Earlier this month, the Home Alone star answered a challenge by Rusev, who was campaigning on social media to fight a celebrity at WrestleMania. Unfortunately that match never came together, but Culkin hasn’t given up hope.

On Monday night, Culkin issued a WrestleMania challenge to Paul Smackage, a fictional character from Edge and Christian’s Podcast. This led to the following exchange between Culkin and WWE legend Christian:

Culkin ended the exchange with a savage burn on Christian, referring to him as the Marty Jannetty to Edge’s Shawn Michaels. Ouch.

Culkin is obviously a longtime pro wrestling fan and even got physically involved at a Bar Wrestling live event in California back in December.

Daniel Bryan Could Be Getting Different Partner At WrestleMania 34

26

The plans for SmackDown General Manager Daniel Bryan were thought to be set in stone but now are up in the air.

The reason for this is due to the current condition of the SmackDown Commissioner. WWE has announced that Shane McMahon is currently recovering from acute diverticulitis and an umbilical hernia.

As of this writing, it’s not clear what this means for McMahon’s status at WrestleMania 34, but it’s been reported that he will team up with Bryan to take on Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn at the event.

Dave Meltzer gave an update on the situation during the most recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio.

“Shane McMahon was diagnosed with diverticulitis. So that match at WrestleMania is going to have to be changed. Shane McMahon & Daniel Bryan vs. Sami Zayn & Kevin Owens match which is liking going to be announced tomorrow.

So, he’s in really rough shape. That hernia surgery is a pretty bad one. It’s not unusual but it’s a very painful surgery. The diverticulitis is a pretty bad deal as well, so he’s probably not going to be around for a while. I asked around about what’s going to happen and it all kind of broke in the last couple of days.

Tomorrow we will have a lot better idea but they are probably going to have to switch courses. Go in another direction. Probably Daniel Bryan in a tag team — getting another tag team partner would be the most likely situation.”

Co-host Bryan Alvarez brought up the fact that they could reach out to Chris Jericho to see if he would be willing to be Bryan’s partner at the biggest event of the year for the sports entertainment company due to his history with Owens in the past on television.

However, Meltzer checked on Fozzy tour dates and noted that Jericho would have to cancel his Fozzy concert in New Hampshire which is the same day as WrestleMania to make the event. It’s not likely he’s willing to cancel tour dates.

WWE Pulls Dean Ambrose From WrestleMania Axxess

6

Former WWE Champion Dean Ambrose has unexpectedly been pulled from his scheduled appearances during WrestleMania week.

For those who may not recall, Ambrose underwent successful surgery to repair a high-grade triceps tendon in December. Ambrose’s arm injury reportedly took place at the Tables, Ladders, and Chairs pay-per-view event back on October 22nd. During that pay-per-view, Ambrose took a bump on a table that didn’t break.

Following the match, his right arm immediately swelled up. While Ambrose didn’t take any time off and continued to work through the pain, things got worse over time. WWE stated Ambrose would be out nine months at the time of his surgery been announced.

WWE announced on Monday afternoon that Ambrose would not be able to appear at the WrestleMania Axxess Premium VIP Autograph Session on Sunday, April 8, at 10 a.m.

Instead, the sports entertainment company has already announced his replacement. WWE Hall of Famers Sting and Ric Flair will appear at this Premium VIP Autograph Session.

Triple H Announces NXT European Tour For Later This Year

0

WWE NXT will hold their first international tour of the new year this summer.

Ever since Triple H came up with the idea for NXT, he has had a certain vision in mind. For years, WWE would sign top stars in other promotions during the territories era.

It’s pretty clear what Triple H’s vision for the developmental brand is. Sign athletes, who have no pro wrestling experience and train them to become WWE Superstars.

Also, he wants to sign the best of the best talents in the world and have them learn the WWE playbook then shine not only in NXT but on the main roster.

The NXT brand has gone from a developmental system to a third brand, and this latest news proves just that.

The former WWE Champion announced on his official Twitter account that they would head overseas this June when NXT comes to the United Kingdom, France and Belgium for a series of live events.

The tour represents the first time that NXT Live heads to mainland Europe. “The Game” sent out the following tweet:

Aleister Black, Velveteen Dream, Nikki Cross, Undisputed ERA, Shayna Baszler, Ricochet and Kairi Sane are all advertised to appear. For more details including how to get tickets, please click here.

El Generico Resurfaces Online After Five Year Absence

4

Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens continue to work their current program on social media.

As seen on last week’s episode of SmackDown Live in Dallas, Texas at the American Airlines Center on the USA Network, SmackDown General Manager Daniel Bryan announced that Owens and Zayn have been “fired” from WWE due to their attack on Shane McMahon last week on SmackDown.

This led to Owens and Zayn beating down Bryan in the ring to close the show. Obviously, this is a storyline, and they are still under contract with the WWE.

Zayn signed with WWE back in 2013 after finding success on the independent scene under the name El Generico.

Since the firing angle on SmackDown Live, Owens has changed his Twitter account handle to Kevin Steen, and Zayn tweeted for the first time in five years on his El Generico Twitter account. You can see his tweet here:

7 Takeaways From WWE RAW (3/26)

15

The March 26th, 2018 episode of WWE RAW aired live from the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, OH. Here are 7 takeaways from this week’s show:

Brock Lesnar Beatdown Roman Reigns Again

lesnar reigns raw 3 26

Universal Champion Brock Lesnar came down to the ring with Paul Heyman to start this week’s RAW. Heyman introduced Lesnar and Brock started hopping around the ring as the crowd cheered. Paul brought up Lesnar beating down Roman Reigns last week on RAW and rolled footage of it. Heyman then announced that the temporary suspension of Roman Reigns has been lifted.

Heyman followed it up by announcing that Roman Reigns is not here tonight and the crowd cheered. Heyman brought up Roman Reigns’ family raising him to fight, wrestle and compete, but it was a shame that Reigns’ family didn’t raise him to be a man. Heyman stated that Roman Reigns is not man enough to take the Universal Championship from Brock Lesnar.

Roman Reigns was shown in the crowd and he slowly made his way down to the ring. Reigns grabbed a chair, but Lesnar got out of the ring and leveled him with a Clothesline. Reigns battled back and threw Brock into the ring post. Reigns connected with a couple of shots with the steel chair to the back of the Universal Champion. Roman went for a Superman Punch off the steel steps but Lesnar caught him and planted him with a Suplex.

Lesnar picked up the steel steps and smashed Reigns in the face with them. Brock threw the steps into the ring and then brought Roman in there as well. Lesnar picked up the steps again and hit Reigns in the face. Brock struck Reigns in the back a few times with the chair as the crowd cheered him on. Lesnar then connected with an F5 to Reigns on the steel steps in the ring. Brock hopped up on the steps and posed with the title as his theme hit.

https://twitter.com/totaldivaseps/status/978425086364585985

After RAW returned from a break, Roman Reigns was shown walking up the entrance ramp under his own power.

Opinion: Lesnar has got the better of Reigns for two weeks now. Roman is likely going to head into WrestleMania 34 at less than 100% and the announcers will make sure to point that out before the match. I just cannot get myself invested in a storyline in which I have to view Reigns as an underdog that is overcoming the odds.

Alexa Bliss Ran Away From Nia Jax

alexa bliss nia jax 3 26

Nia Jax faced Mickie James tonight on RAW. Alexa Bliss accompanied Mickie to the ring and started trash-talking with Nia before the match. Nia controlled the match early and threw Mickie out of the ring as RAW went to a commercial break. When RAW returned, Mickie took control of the match after Alexa Bliss distracted Nia outside the ring.

Mickie connected with a few kicks in the corner and then a Dropkick to her knees. Nia battled back and slammed Mickie to the canvas. Nia missed with a Leg Drop and Mickie hit a kick to the face for a two count. Nia lifted Mickie above her shoulders and then planted her with a Samoan Drop for the pinfall victory.

After the match, Alexa Bliss tried to attack Nia Jax from behind. Nia shrugged off the attack and Bliss ran away. Nia shouted at her and then chased her up the entrance ramp.

Triple H & Stephanie McMahon Vowed To Humble Ronda Rousey At WrestleMania 34

triple h stephanie mcmahon raw 3 26

A video was shown about Triple H and Stephanie McMahon training for their upcoming tag match against Kurt Angle and Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania 34. Triple H stated that we are in this situation because Kurt Angle is an idiot. Stephanie McMahon claimed that it was Rousey who should be intimidated because she has never had a WWE match before. Stephanie noted that she has grown up around wrestling and is ready for this.

Triple H said it would be so embarassing for Rousey to get defeated by an executive at WrestleMania 34. Stephanie added that Rousey doesn’t scare her because she is a McMahon and that means that Rousey will simply work for her. Triple H said that at the end of the day, they are business people. They will do what is best for Rousey following WrestleMania 34, repackage her and reintroduce her to the WWE Universe. The promo ended with Stephanie McMahon vowing to humble Rousey at WrestleMania 34.

The Miz’s Plan Backfired

finn balor RAW 3 26

The Miz came down to the ring with Curtis Axel and Bo Dallas for an episode of Miz TV. Finn Balor and Seth Rollins were once again the guests on Miz TV.

The Miz asked Dallas and Axel how the felt The Miztourage was going. Axel and Dallas said that they were happy and The Miz said that they should be happy because he made them relevant. The Miz went on a rant about The Miztourage and said that he cannot count on them. The Miz was pissed off about being left on the mat without any help for two weeks in a row. The Miz said that maybe Bo Dallas should go “Bo-lieve himself back to catering”.

Seth Rollins interrupted and came down to the ring. Rollins noted that normally Miz TV is terrible television, but this episode has been great. Seth got into the ring and The Miz scolded him for coming down to the ring early. Rollins claimed that The Miztourage is feeling under-appreciated. Seth asked The Miz when the last time he thanked them was. Rollins stated that The Miz wouldn’t be the Intercontinental Champion. Rollins started a “Miztourage!” chant and The Miz told them to shut up.

The Miz claimed that he would still Intercontinental Champion and a big star without The Miztourage. Bo Dallas called The Miz “a phony A-lister that cannot fight”. Finn Balor interrupted and joined the party. Balor entered the ring and said that Bo called The Miz the biggest jerk that he’d ever met. Bo interrupted and repeated that The Miz was a phony A-lister that cannot fight. The Miz got in Bo Dallas’ face and asked him to say it again. Bo started to say it again and The Miz slapped the microphone out of his hand.

The Miz changed his tune and said that he was 34 days away from becoming the longest reigning Intercontinental Champion of all-time. The Miz said that would make him better than Randy Savage, Shawn Michaels and Mr. Perfect. Curtis Axel then got pissed off and The Miz said that one slipped. The Miz announced that Miz TV was canceled for the evening and asked The Miztourage to leave with him.

Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel blocked The Miz from leaving the ring and got in his face. They backed him into Rollins and Balor. Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel then punched Balor and Rollins the face and beat them down. Anderson and Gallows came down to the ring and battled with The Miztourage up the entrance ramp as The Miz stood alone in the ring. The Miz tried to hit Balor with the IC Title, but Finn was ready and planted him with a Slingblade. Rollins went for a Curb Stomp but The Miz rolled out of the ring.

Balor grabbed the Intercontinental Championship and stared at it for a moment before Seth Rollins interrupted him. Rollins grabbed the title from Balor but didn’t realize The Miz had returned to the ring. Balor shoved Seth out of the way and knocked The Miz to the canvas. Seth Clotheslined The Miz out of the ring and turned around into a punch from Balor. Finn grabbed the Intercontinental Championship and raised it above his head to end the segment.

https://twitter.com/totaldivaseps/status/978437418142568448

Opinion: The first hour of RAW was quite terrible for the second-to-last episode before WrestleMania 34. The second hour started off with Miz TV and this was at least an entertaining segment. Bo Dallas had me convinced that he was going to leave The Miztourage for a moment.

Bayley & Sasha Banks Finally Aren’t Friends Anymroe

bayley Sasha banks raw 3 19

Sasha Banks and Bayley had a conversation backstage and Bayley announced that she was going to be in the women’s Battle Royal at WrestleMania 34. Sasha Banks demanded that Bayley explain what her problem was with her. Banks called Bayley passive-aggressive and Bayley noted that Sasha must love that Bayley is passive. Bayley stated that Sasha must also love that she lets Sasha walk around like she is the legit boss. Sasha said that Bayley was right and that she does what she wants for her own career and is not going to apologize for it. Sasha suggested that Bayley do the same so that everyone in the locker room doesn’t think that she is a loser.

Bayley chuckled and got right in Sasha’s face. Bayley said that the truth is that Sasha keeps screwing her over because she knows that she can’t beat her. Banks said that she is a four time RAW Women’s Champion and Bayley responded by poking fun at how quickly Banks lost the belt each time she won it. Bayley went to walk away but Sasha grabbed her and slammed her into the lockers behind them. Bayley battled back but they were eventually separated by referees.

Ronda Rousey Fought Off Sonya Deville & Mandy Rose

ronda rousey mandy rose sonya deville

RAW GM Kurt Angle came down to the ring and introduced Ronda Rousey. Ronda came down the entrance ramp with a big smile on her face and high-fived all the fans before getting into the ring. Angle handed her a microphone and then hugged Rousey. Angle noted that he had been watching Rousey train for the past few weeks and declared that she was ready for WrestleMania. Kurt stated that Triple H and Stephanie McMahon are going to be ready for anything. Angle added that WrestleMania will be fun, but it is not going to be easy.

Ronda said that was good and then announced that she was going to rip Stephanie’s arm out of her socket. Absolution interrupted and made their way down to the ring. Paige said that they would love to formally welcome Rousey to RAW. Paige got into the ring as Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville. Paige asked if Rousey wanted some backup but Rousey declined. Paige was persistent and asked Rousey to become the fourth member of Absolution. Rousey once again thanked Paige for the offer and declined.

Paige said that was not a good choice and Rose and Deville got into the ring. Rousey Clothesline Deville to the mat and then Rousey backed Rose into the corner. Ronda then threw Rose into Deville. Mandy Rose charged at Ronda again, but Rousey Hip-Tossed her to the mat and locked in the Arm Bar. Mandy pleaded for mercy and Kurt Angle told Rousey to back down. Rousey let go of the Arm Bar and Absolution retreated.

https://twitter.com/totaldivaseps/status/978452670221553664

Opinion: Rousey launched Rose over her head and onto Deville during this segment and the timing was off. Deville had to run to catch Rose and it looked clunky as hell. We got to see a glimpse of the Arm Bar tonight and I’m sure Stephanie McMahon will find herself in that hold at WrestleMania 34. I would have liked to see something more interesting happen during this segment, but this entire show has been a letdown so far.

The Undertaker Didn’t Show Up

cena raw 3 26

John Cena faced Kane tonight in a No DQ match. Kane controlled the beginning of the match as the entire Cleveland crowd chanted “Undertaker!”. Cena battled back and tried to lift Kane onto his shoulders but Cena collapsed under Kane’s weight. Kane went for the cover and Cena kicked out at two. Cena rolled out of the ring to regroup and Kane followed him out there. Kane launched Cena into the steel steps as RAW went to a commercial break. When RAW returned, Kane Suplexed Cena on top of a barricade.

The action returned to the ring and Kane continued the beatdown. Cena sat up like The Undertaker and leveled Kane with a shoulder tackle. Cena hit the Five Knuckle Shuffle on Kane and then threw him into the exposed turnbuckle. Cena mocked The Undertaker once again and planted Kane with a Chokeslam.

https://twitter.com/totaldivaseps/status/978465895562530816

Cena grabbed a table and brought it into the ring. Cena tried to slam him through the table with an Attitude Adjustment but Kane blocked it and shoved over the table. Kane set up the table in the corner and launched Cena into it for a two count. Kane brought another table into the ring and tried to Chokeslam Cena through the table. Cena escaped Kane’s grasp and slammed him through the table with an Attitude Adjustment for the pinfall victory.

After the match, Cena stood in the ring and shouted “where are you?!” at The Undertaker. Cena shouted his name again and there was no answer. Cena held up the microphone and the crowd started chanting “Undertaker!”. Cena once again called The Undertaker a coward. Cena said silence is not an answer and added that it is either yes or no. The crowd started chanting “yes!”.

Cena said that he was fine if the answer was no, but told The Undertaker to look at the energy in the crowd when they chant for The Undertaker. Cena added that The Undertaker has one more week to do something. He said that if he doesn’t do something, he will have let everyone down. Cena stated that he hoped that The Undertaker shows up next week. Cena walked right up to the camera and did the throat-slit motion and rolled his eyes in the back of his head as RAW went off the air.

Opinion: Cena cut another solid promo here. I didn’t expect The Undertaker to show up tonight but was hoping that he did just to add some excitement to this show. There is one episode of RAW left until WrestleMania. There wasn’t anything that happened on tonight’s show that got more excited for WrestleMania 34.

Heyman says if you think Reigns is about to interrupt and fight Lesnar, you’re wrong, because Roman Reigns is not here tonight. Heyman talks about Reigns’ family history in wrestling. He says even if Reigns ripped off Lesnar’s legs, Lesnar would come back on his knuckles with the bloody leg stumps behind him and will still beat up Reigns. Heyman says Reigns isn’t man enough to show up tonight and take another beating from Lesnar. He says Reigns isn’t man enough to take the Universal Title from him at WrestleMania either. Before Heyman can finish hyping up Lesnar, Roman Reigns appears in the crowd. Reigns limps through the crowd towards the ring, and he grabs a steel chair. Lesnar runs out to ringside to fight Reigns. Lesnar drops Reigns with a clothesline, but then Reigns shoves Lesnar into the ring post. Reigns grabs the chair and repeatedly hits Lesnar with it on the ringside floor. Reigns looks for a Superman punch off the ring steps, but Lesnar catches him and hits an overhead suplex on the floor. Lesnar picks up the ring steps and smashes them into Roman’s face. Update On Vader’s Condition Following Open Heart Surgery

14

Former WWE and WCW star Vader underwent open heart surgery today in Dallas, Texas and according to his son Jesse, it was a success, but at the same time, worse than expected.

Jesse posted the update from Vader’s Twitter account.

Vader revealed last week that his heart rate “has slowed into the thirties.”

On November 14, 2016, Vader announced that he was diagnosed with congestive heart failure due to his football and wrestling careers. He visited two heart doctors and they told him he has only two years left to live.

Vader found out about the diagnosis after being involved in a roll-over car accident, which left him unconscious for 35 minutes. In December 2016, he explained to Hannibal TV:

“I was in the medical center and I was seeing my doctor, who is actually an MD, and heart specialists came into my room. They said ‘We’ve been looking at your heart’ and I said ‘Who are you?’ I didn’t recognize the guy. He said ‘You have two years to live. We’ve been looking at your heart, and that’s the deal.’

“It wasn’t much longer than that when he came back in the room — cause he left and obviously I had a bunch of questions and I’m in the process of answering those questions at this point. So for me to start talking would probably be premature at this point.

“I’ve been in the gym, I feel okay, I’ve been feeling pretty good actually. I don’t know exactly what he’s talking about or if something will show itself up in weeks to come, but right now I’m still trying to figure out exactly what’s going on.”

A few months later, Vader regretted tweeting that he only has two years left to live. He explained to Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling last March:

“I really kind of regret tweeting it out. In other words when I got diagnosed and was told, “Leon, you have a bad heart and you have congestive heart failure and we feel your time is limited and you have maybe a couple of years left… two years or less to live.

“I remember getting very angry and said this has gotta be bulls–t because I don’t feel bad and I remember getting extremely angry. Since that time and when I got the news I left the hospital and went right to the gym and rode the bike for a half hour. Hard. As hard as I could and when I got off the bike and got on the treadmill and walked for another 15 minutes pretty hard and I was exhausted but my heart felt fine so how can I do that if my heart is going to give out?

“The doctor in some of the ongoing appointments that I had with him explained to me that when you are tipping the scales at 400 and 420-25 pounds that a man that size and that heavy isn’t supposed to be able to push himself in a cardiovascular endeavor no matter what it is much past 2 or 3 minutes.”

Vader went on to say that he will continue to wrestle and that if the tests are proven to be true, he would like to die in the ring. However, in April, he passed out after a match in Japan due to a head injury. He apparently hasn’t wrestled since then.

WWE: Shane McMahon Hospitalized With Diverticulitis & Hernia

30

WWE announced on Monday that Shane McMahon has been diagnosed with the intestinal disease acute diverticulitis and and an umbilical hernia.

The news comes two weeks after Shane announced his indefinite leave of absence from his post as the commissioner of SmackDown Live. After stepping down as SmackDown commissioner, Shane was assaulted by Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. Many fans assumed this attack was to set up a match at WrestleMania. Especially with Daniel Bryan being medically cleared to compete, it seemed like a given that Shane and Bryan would be teaming up against Zayn and Owens at WrestleMania. However, this medical update jeopardizes Shane’s chances revenge at WrestleMania in less than two weeks.

WWE.com writes “While [in the Caribbean], Shane developed a massive infection due to acute diverticulitis and was hospitalized for several days in Antigua before being flown back to a New York-area hospital, where he is currently being treated with heavy doses of antibiotics. The doctors in New York have also discovered that Shane suffered an umbilical hernia during the attack, which will require surgery once the infection has been eradicated.”

A massive infection, a diverticulitis diagnosis and pending surgery to repair a hernia all point to Shane missing WrestleMania. We should find out what this means for Shane McMahon, Daniel Bryan, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn in the coming days.

It remains to be seen how much of this news is WWE storyline fiction – hopefully all of it.
