GFW Getting Bad Publicity After Fan Writes Open Letter To Jeff Jarrett After Ticket Debacle

20

Global Force Wrestling is receiving some bad publicity this week as a blogger who purchased tickets to GFW live events in Texas found out that the shows were canceled with no real announcement, and getting a refund has been a hassle.

The following is the announcement GFW made on their website three days ago, quietly revealing the fact that the shows in Texas were being postponed:

Global Force Wrestling, the San Antonio Missions and the Round Rock Express have decided to postpone the GFW Grand Slam Tour events scheduled for later this month in Texas. Due to multiple conflicts in scheduling plus announcements that will be revealed over the next few weeks, GFW and the Texas clubs felt it was best to reschedule the events for the 2016 Grand Slam Tour. Ticket refunds can be obtained through the Missions’ and Express’ box offices.

“Global Force Wrestling has made a promise to our fans to present the highest quality wrestling action at all of our Grand Slam events,” GFW founder and CEO Jeff Jarrett said. “As a new brand in the entertainment marketplace, it is imperative not only to deliver but to exceed customer expectations. We are committed to our friends and fans in Texas, and we look forward to scheduling San Antonio and Round Rock on next year’s Grand Slam Tour.”

Here is part of the blog that “Skillcrane” wrote. It’s worth noting that after posting the open letter to Jeff Jarrett, a GFW representative contacted the man and the update he wrote afterwards is also available below.

Fast forward to August of 2015, when tickets for the Texas ballpark tour went on sale. Anyone (such as myself) who purchased tickets to any of these events did so as a leap of faith. With absolutely no information other than a time & a place, purchasing a ticket was doing so out of the part of themselves that wishes the best for the promotion & wants them to succeed. I was able to go online, select my tickets, & within a couple of minutes make my purchase. I felt good doing so, knowing that I was contributing to the growth of the new promotion & hopefully helping to inspire others who wanted to bring their promotions to my city in the future.

Fast forward to last night. I was watching the Scenic City Invitational & two of the announced GFW roster (Moose & Kongo Kong) were facing each other, so I decided to check the website to see if they finally got around to announcing the actual wrestlers who would be appearing at the event, hoping Kong & Moose were in that lineup.

Instead, what I saw was an announcement that the next shows were in October, with not even a mention of the Texas dates on the site. This was somewhat disconcerting considering I had purchased tickets for an event in September. I looked through the News link, the ticket link, etc, & saw no information at all on these dates, making me wonder if I had imagined the whole thing all along. A quick Google search (again, it is hard to accept that I have to Google information that is buried somewhere on the site) pointed me to an article that announced that the Texas dates have been canceled under mysterious reasons (“multiple scheduling conflicts & announcements that will be revealed over the next few weeks”), & that GFW was “committed to our friends and fans in Texas” & they look forward to seeing us next year instead. No email saying “hey, we realize you already threw down money for this show, so here is your refund” or anything like that. The fact is that I had to dig for information instead of having the company proactively come out & contact any of us who bothered to support them in the first place.

Now for the next source of contention, which is how the refunds are being handled. As I mentioned, the actual purchase of the tickets was done from the comfort of a computer terminal & required little to no effort, taking only a couple of minutes to complete. To get my money back, though, I am expected to drive 1 hour round trip (assuming there is absolutely no traffic) to the South side of town & go to the Missions ballpark box office. Keep in mind that the event itself was not even scheduled in this location, but rather a different ballpark located much more conveniently to my home. So the expectation from this promotion that I supported is I make a 1 hour+ round trip drive, plus gas, plus paying for parking to get into the parking lot of the box office itself. I will actually lose money because I made the mistake to support GFW. This is completely unacceptable in my mind in 2015.

Beyond the inconvenience & expense of getting the refund, it also leaves a very bad taste in my mouth that I tried to support an upstart promotion & was burned by them as a payback for that support. Of the 200 or so people who were going to show up the first time around, how many of them do you expect will return the second time after being burned, when we have the opportunity to see this glorious non-promotion again? My guess would be much less than the first go round. Now instead of fulfilling their obligations, they are spinning things like they are doing us all a favor by allowing us the opportunity to see them in 2016, but what they don’t realize is if you burn someone once they won’t get duped into trying to show support again.

Here is the update he posted:

EDITOR’S NOTE: After posting this, someone from GFW reached out & asked me to call the box office for the refund. As I was going on information posted by GFW themselves saying that I would have to seek refunds in person, I assumed this information was correct as it was in the press release. It turns out that unlike GFW, the San Antonio Missions organization has their shit together, as they have set up an auto refund for the event that should start being credited some time next week. This does help a bit, but my original feelings toward the promotion still stand.

Update On WWE Changing Bo Dallas’ Character

20

It looks like Bo Dallas could be in line for a slight character change in the near future, as WWE has been working on altering his gimmick lately.

After last Thursday’s SmackDown, Dallas debuted a new finishing move and attacked R-Truth after their match. He then cut a promo and spoke about how he has been trying to inspire people for so long, but it has turned him into a joke. He went on to reveal that he felt what he did to Truth by attacking him was “really funny,” and told fans he Bo-Lieves he will be a lot more “humorous” in the future.

Rene Dupree Says He Suffered 25 Concussions In WWE, Bubba Ray Was Reckless

10

Former WWE Superstar Rene Dupree recently appeared on the Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling Podcast and made some controversial statements about concussions in wrestling and. Dupree, a former WWE tag team champion, says his “brains being scrambled” due to suffering 25 concussions while working for WWE – and called out Bubba Ray Dudley for being reckless in the ring. Here are some highlights of what he said about:

Concussions Ending His Wrestling Career:

“I’m pretty much done with the whole wrestling game. I’d like to do the convention circuit so I don’t have to take any bumps because my brains are so scrambled from throughout the years that it’s starting to affect me and starting to affect my daily life. Now that I am getting older, it started when I was around 27, I started forgetting stuff, I had twenty-five concussions just within WWE. You think about well I have so many, not really when you work a full time schedule and I was there for 5 1/2 years and when you wrestle what 150- 250 matches a year to have four or five concussions a year do you think that’s highly unlikely? No, that’s normal. ”

Did The Dudley Boyz Take “Liberties” In The Ring?

“Does a bear sh*t in the woods? Oh my God. I’ve had so many concussions from Bubba Ray Dudley it’s not even funny. You know Chris Nowinski had to retire because of Bubba Ray giving him concussions right? Devon, it’s universal everyone likes Devon because he’s a pro, but Bubba can be difficult to work with. ”

What he thinks led to The Dudleyz leaving WWE in 2005:

“One time in the ring, Sly screwed up a spot and then Bubba punched him in the face and bloodied his nose and Sly asked him why backstage and Bubba went off and punched him in the face again. Sylvan was very good friends with Pat Patterson and they weren’t around shortly thereafter. The WWE Developmental process and the Performance Center: Who have they developed since they’ve had that Performance Center? The ones that will become stars are the ones that will prove themselves elsewhere. Quite frankly there is not too many place to go and learn but the ones that show the heart and determination and the love for it, not some f*cking ex-football player that twisted his ankle in camp and can’t play in the NFL anymore, not some underwear model or some bodybuilder. The ones that will make it and will get over and will put up with their bullsh*t quite frankly are the guys that love it.”

Former WWE Superstars suing WWE for negligence in relation to injuries:

“I don’t know anything of it but I can tell you from experience that, yeah there is definitely or at least there was. I don’t know about now, I think they are trying to cover their tracks. I have no opinion of it. What happens, happens and I just want to stay clear from that place.”

WWE’s spotty track record with the health of wrestlers:

“I personally got knocked out one night. I was wrestling Rob Van Dam and he hit me with a spin kick and I was out for five hours. I was out on my feet for five and half hours! I didn’t get no concussions tests. I didn’t even go to a doctor. After a concussion you are not supposed to go to sleep, well I woke up in my bed and Sylvan called me up and said you got kicked in the head and don’t worry about it. You know how long I waited until I got back in the ring? I was back in the next night. Remember the Bob Holly Incident? I got kicked about fifth-teen or twenty times in the f*cking head with a wrestling boot. You know how hard the sole of a wrestling boot is? It’s like a steel-toed boot. Did I go get a concussion test. No. Did I go to a doctor? Yes, but just to see if anything was broken around my eye.”

Cameron Taking Time Off From WWE?, Comments On Her New Anti-Bullying Project

17

WWE Diva Cameron recently spoke with Jim Varsallone of the Miami Herald about a number of topics, including the fact that she is “taking time off from the rigorous WWE travel schedule,” and that she is launching her new “Wrong #” anti-bullying campaign. Below are some of the highlights from the interview.

On the new campaign: “I’m able to launch my own thing to bring awareness to this issue for people who have experienced bullying — especially with social media being so huge as that’s where the biggest part of bullying is today, cyberbullying. I have a second single coming out, and it’s entitled ‘Wrong #.’ It’s my own personal campaign, talking about anti-bullying through music. It’s my own sassy way of talking about it.”

On giving credit to WWE’s Norman Smiley and Sara Del Rey for training her: “I didn’t have much training when I was in developmental, because I got called up so early, but Norman Smiley was such a great, patient coach. He was great when I was in FCW. As far as being on the road, Sara Del Rey was always very helpful. The hard thing for me was I did it backward. Everyone usually comes up well trained and ready to go. For me, being called up so early, I was like, ‘Oh my God. How am I going to do this? I barely know what I’m doing.’ It’s sink or swim. It’s been difficult, because I’m still learning to this day. but Sara Del Rey has definitely helped along the way, and my ex-tag team partner, Naomi, helped me so much, when we were partners together, when we were just valets.”

Zahra Schreiber Issues Lengthy Statement Regarding Her WWE Release

30

Former NXT Diva and real-life girlfriend of WWE Superstar Seth Rollins, Zahra Schreiber, who was recently released from WWE after some old anti-semetic-themed posts from her past resurfaced and spread on social media, took to Instagram to comment on her release from the company.

The following is what Schreiber wrote on Instagram this week:

“Let me start this off by saying how grateful I am and how fortunate I feel to have had my time with WWE. It truly was my dream job. Last week WWE made a decision to release me from my contract due to posts I made on social media years ago, long before I was ever employed by them. I understand why that decision was made, but it broke my heart and my spirit. I don’t want my mistakes to reflect on WWE or how incredible they are as a company. The responsibility is my own…

Now, I want to take the time to apologize to everyone who was offended by my posts. I am so sorry. I would like to make it very clear I am in no way, shape or form an anti-Semite, nor do I condone anti-Semitism. If one were to have looked deeper into my post, one would have noticed that also in the photo was Marlene Dietrich. Marlene was a Polish actress who opposed Nazism and fought for the oppressed during WWII. To me the photos and relics were nothing more than a story. I now see it was insensitive of me and in poor taste, which is why I had attempted to delete them long ago.

On an aside, a family member of mine took part in the White Rose Movement (Germans trying to end Nazi domination), which is where my interest in the Holocaust actually stemmed from. Also, documented deeper on my Instagram from years ago are photos of me at Dachau Concentration Camp in Germany, and I noted there how disturbed I was by the entire place. Unfortunately, social media rarely notices positivity, and can be an evil place where opinion is easily manipulated to fit the circumstance.

I take full accountability for the things I did post, but those out there who are creating Twitter exchanges that never happened or have manufactured other conversations that never took place really need to check themselves and realize how much harm they are actually doing.

Everything I’ve worked for and dreamt of is gone. In an instant, I lost it all. But I can’t let this define my life. I know who I am as a person. I’m as human as anyone else. I’ve made mistakes like we all do. I hope those I’ve offended can forgive me. All I can do now is learn and move forward trying to be better every day.”

Seth Rollins, Sting, Sheamus Kick Off RAW

This week’s show kicks off with WWE World Heavyweight and WWE United States Champion Seth Rollins coming out to the ring. As seems to be the case lately, Rollins is given a lot of time to not really say a whole lot, as he’s basically just complaining about having to wrestle two matches at WWE Night Of Champions.

He says he was worried but then he remembered he’s Seth Rollins. He says he’s Seth “Friggin” Rollins and Night Of Champions is going to be his night. He says he’s got two future Hall Of Famers vying for both of his titles, but he is going to own them both, just like he owns all of us. He says if it’s the last thing he does, he’s going to get his statue back.

As he continues to talk, Sting’s crow sound hits and we see him backstage dusting Rollins’ statue and mocking him, telling him he’s taking good care of it and daring him to come get it.

After that, out of nowhere, Sheamus’ music hits and out he comes. He talks about how even if Rollins wins both of his matches somehow at Night Of Champions, he might have to wrestle a third match — against Mr. Money In The Bank, Sheamus. On that note, we head to our first commercial break of the evening.

Backstage: Seth Rollins & The Authority

Backstage, Seth Rollins approaches Stephanie McMahon, complaining about his statue and his two matches at Night Of Champions. He asks her where Triple H is. She says she has a plan. He still wants HHH. Finally, he sees HHH behind him and ultimately, HHH’s plan is to book Rollins in two matches tonight to prepare him for his two Night Of Champions matches. It will be champion vs. champion as Rollins takes on I-C champ Ryback in one match tonight on RAW, while Rollins will team with The New Day to take on The Prime Time Players and John Cena in the other match tonight.

Paige vs. Sasha Banks

We return to the ring and it’s time for Divas action as the “Divas Revolution” continues on RAW. It will be Paige representing Team P.C.B. and Sasha Banks representing Team B.A.D.

Early on, Paige controls the action. She hits a couple of moves and plays to the crowd a bit as the announcers put over the Divas Revolution and the upcoming title match at Night Of Champions. We head to a mid-match break.

When we return from commercial we see the action still going on inside the ring. Banks is controlling the offense with ease at this point, and is taunting Team P.C.B., as well as the fans. Finally, after Naomi and Tamina cause a distraction, Banks manages to sneak in a pin on Paige for the victory. After the match we head to another commercial break.

Winner: Sasha Banks

The Ascension vs. Roman Reigns & Dean Ambrose

Konnor of The Ascension kicks things off for his team while Ambrose starts off for his team. Ambrose establishes control of the action and then tags in Reigns. Konnor tags in Viktor and Reigns starts taking it to him now.

After some brief action on the floor, including a Drive By spot from Reigns, the action resumes in the ring where Reigns hits a spear and Ambrose hits a big move off the top rope for the 1-2-3.

Winners: Roman Reigns & Dean Ambrose

After The Match: The Wyatt Family

After the match, The Wyatt Family appears on the big screen. First, Braun Strowman talks about how it’s okay to be afraid. Bray Wyatt talks about how their fate will be set at Night Of Champions. Erick Rowan simply finishes by saying, “Run!” We head back to another commercial break.

Dean Ambrose Talks About Starring In New WWE Studios Movie, His Acting Career & More

2

Scott Fishman of Channel Guide Magazine recently spoke with Dean Ambrose to promote the WWE Studios film “12 Rounds 3: Lockdown,” which Ambrose is featured in. Below are some of the highlights from the interview.

On getting the lead role in the 12 Rounds 3: Lockdown movie: “How often do you get a chance to star in a movie? It wasn’t something that was on my immediate radar or agenda. I jumped at the opportunity. How can you say no when someone wants you to be in a movie. It’s an experience. It took me about two seconds to say yes. I didn’t find out until later that I was the lead role in this. I said sign me up from the get-go. I thought I was going to be a background player like when a WWE Studios movie will have a WWE superstar in the background for like five seconds. Upon learning I was earmarked to be this guy in the lead role. I was thinking, ‘What? You know I’m completely unqualified for this. I have no idea what I’m doing.’ They were like, ‘You’ll be find. Trust me.’”

On his mentality going into filming: “I thought that if it does well I could have a second career as an action star. If it sucks, then stop asking me to be in movies. You know what I mean. I had a feeling that this is something I would be good at. Sometimes things happen for a reason and things work out the way they are supposed to. I feel this was brought to me at the right time. I had a feeling in my gut that I could do this. I took it very seriously. I didn’t want it to be Dean Ambrose, who plays the cop. I wanted to fully become this character. It’s a much different personality and character than myself. It’s not the guy you see on WWE TV, which is essentially me. That’s the funny part. In WWE, I’m not acting. I just kind of go out there and am myself. Sometimes with sports entertainment you are somewhat over-the-top. In this, I’m a bit serious as a detective. There is a lot of acting involved. There was a challenge to learn how to do it.”

On his Dean Ambrose character vs his movie character John Shaw: “In the ring, I just let all the chains off. If I have a microphone in my face, I’m just going to let my mouth run with whatever I feel or comes out. Like walking to the ring and having a bad day, I’m going to be out there scowling in a bad mood. Whatever legitimate emotions, I’m going to portray it. Whatever comes to mind or whatever ridiculous thing pops in my head, I will do. Shaw is a lot more calculating. He has much more of a poker face than Dean Ambrose. The bad guys don’t quite know him because he has this poker face about him. He has to be in dangerous situations and has this evidence that if other people know he has, they will kill him. He is a detective, so he has this edge to him. A lot of his character is internalized, which was a challenge because in pro wrestling it’s very expressive. There are a lot of pieces to this guy that I really wanted to become him.”

On doing more acting in the future: “I definitely have eliminated any notion that I can’t do this. Right now, I’m in the thick of it with WWE. I’m not going out auditioning for roles. At the same time, if there is another 12 Rounds, and I get to reprise my role, I would jump on it. Once I got my legs under me for a few weeks, now I feel much more prepared. I got one under my belt. I also do think it would be fun to play a different role as a bad guy or evil guy or one with a different personality. I also think comedy wouldn’t be that much of a stretch to me. I spend most of my life goofing off and having fun, so I can definitely see comedy. I would jump at any opportunity I can because I like to live life to the fullest. You only get to live once.”

Jim Ross Blog: Comparing Snuka/Hogan Incidents, Undertaker Not Retiring, Sting

6

WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross updated his official website blog on Monday with his thoughts and comments on a number of topics. Below are some of the highlights.

On comparing the Jimmy Snuka/Hulk Hogan incidents: “Amazing that some people want me to compare Hulk’s untimely remarks to the 3rd degree murder charges filed against Jimmy Snuka. How do I do that? What sense does that question even make? What am I missing? How can they possibly be in the same ball park.”

On tonight’s RAW: “RAW tonight will feature Sasha Banks vs. Paige tonight from what I read. Give them time to tell a compelling story and it will do wonders for the women’s division. Why book the women any differently than the men are utilized? WWE needs to focus on fewer women and they will get over and then in turn they can help others get over. Right now the division has little marketable identity and is too cluttered but the good news is that there is talent in abundance available to work with.”

On Undertaker and Sting retirement rumors: “From what I can determine, Wrestlemania Texas will NOT be the Undertaker’s final match but the jury is still out on whether it will be Sting’s last one. No, I don’t see them having a match vs each other there either. Plus, I don’t see how WWE gets all the way to April for the Taker vs. Lesnar ‘rubber match’ if that’s in the cards.”

On Lana’s injury: “Apparently Lana will be out of commission as it relates to physicality for approximately four months with a wrist injury. Perhaps this will give her time to get her back in those business suits and not what she’s been wearing lately. We wish her a speedy recovery.”

Seth Rollins On Which NXT Star He’d Like To Be Called Up, Working With HHH & More

12

WWE World Heavyweight Champion and WWE United States Champion Seth Rollins recently spoke with Scott Fishman of the Miami Herald. Below are some of the highlights from the interview.

On turning his doubters into believers: “Everyone is a naysayer. Everyone has an opinion. Half the people love me and half the people hate me. A few months later and it all flip-flops, it doesn’t matter to me. I just go out there and do the best I can. I’ve been doing this a long time, so I know when things are going well and when they’re not. It’s nice to have people appreciate what you do though. Our fan base is super passionate and always has an opinion, and that’s awesome.”

On which NXT talent he would like to see called up to WWE’s main roster: “I would like to see Bayley. She is my favorite who is not up here and being used. So hopefully she gets a shot soon.”

On working with Triple H: “Triple H has been incredible to work with. Triple H is the ‘Cerebral Assassin.’ His best advice to me is to make sure you always, always come out on top.”

Lana Issues Statement On Her Injury, Posts Photo Of Herself In A Sling

25

COUdD14VAAAwZgT Following a bad training session that resulted in a wrist injury that will keep her on the sidelines for up to four months, Lana took to social media to comment on her unfortunate string of bad luck over the past few days. Lana wrote the following:

“I have dedicated my entire life to becoming the best sports entertainer I could be. Every since I have debuted in @wwe I have continued to go to @wwenxt & come hours early before live events to train & learn how to fight. I wanted my first match to make the #WWE Universe proud. My wrist fracture is proof that WWE & professional wrestling is not fake but very real. This is a bump in the road & can be discouraging but for every person that has believed in me and has ever chanted #WeWantLana I will keep going. From here forward I will share every part of my journey to my first match. Thank you to every fan that has cheered for me & chanted my name, you all give me the strength to be brave. I will continue to give everything I have to becoming one of the greatest women in WWE & entertainment.”

Jim Ross On Owen Hart/WWE HOF, Tim Tebow To WWE?, Hogan/Snuka, Rollins

11

WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross recently updated the Q&A section of his official website, answering questions from fans on a wide variety of topics. Below are some of the highlights.

On if Seth Rollins should modify his style as a heel, as fans don’t boo high-flying moves: “Most traditional heels don’t do a great deal of high risk/showy moves and I do believe that they should be used cautiously and in a timely basis by pro wrestling villains.”

On why WWE puts so much stock into their social media numbers: “It’s a trend within the show biz world that they believe has credence. Its another way to measure one’s audience and topicality.”

On if Tim Tebow could make it in WWE: “I suggested this last year and the year before. I don’t know Tebow’s aptitude for the biz or if he has any interest in it whatsoever. If he wants to play football he should held north to the CFL.”

On if not airing Hulk Hogan and Jimmy Snuka content will hurt the WWE Network: “I’d say it is a non issue and won’t affect the network whatsoever. They may not be featured but I’d be surprised if they still aren’t on the network from time to time.”

On if Owen Hart should be in the WWE Hall Of Fame: “I’m happy the DVD is being produced and I feel Owen is WWE HOF worthy without question.”
