King Of The Mountain Gimmick Match Returning At TNA Slammiversary PPV

19

On Tuesday, TNA President Dixie Carter announced that at the upcoming TNA Slammiversary pay-per-view, the old “King Of The Mountain” gimmick match will return.

Below is the release with all of the details.

King of the Mountain Returns To Slammiversary

For the first time in six years, the King of the Mountain Match returns to Slammiversary on June 28 live on Pay Per View at 8pm ET.

A TNA original, and one of the most innovative matches in all professional wrestling, the King of the Mountain was a staple of the annual Slammiversary event through 2009. Some of the greatest wrestlers in TNA history have entered the King of the Mountain match in hopes to stake a claim to TNA Gold.

Impactwrestling.com is going to take you through the rules that make up the King of the Mountain match, and in the coming days join us right here to relive some of the best moments of the King of the Mountain matches from past Slammiversary.

King of the Mountain Rules:

– The match consists of 5 competitors who begin ineligible to win. In order to become eligible one must score a submission or pinfall where falls count anywhere.
– Once eligible the competitor must retrieve the belt from the official while the person who was pinned or submitted must spend 2 minutes in the “penalty box” cage.
– Multiple competitors can be locked in the penalty box resulting in alliances or the fight continuing.
– Once the belt is in play any other wrestler who is eligible may steal the belt, if at any point the belt is dropped it goes back to the official.
– An eligible competitor hangs the belt on a hook suspended 15 feet above the ring via a ladder to win the match.

Backstage Update On TNA Falling Behind On Wrestler Pay Once Again

32

Multiple TNA performers are claiming that the company is again behind on payroll. According to a new ProWrestling.net article, TNA is roughly a week behind on talent payroll.

One TNA performer expressed frustration over the company showing off their new X-Division Championship, as he believed it was an expensive new title belt, however according to one source, it’s actually not a new title, it’s just painted a new color.

The same source noted that employees of the company are paid on time, whereas the independent contracts (wrestlers, production staff, etc.) fall victim to the late pay.

The assumption of the talent is that their checks will arrive sometime in the next week due to the fact that TNA has television tapings and a pay-per-view coming up.

Dixie Carter Reveals New TNA X-Division Title (Photo), Slammiversary Update

27

– The reason TNA decided to do the Kurt Angle vs. Ethan Carter III title match at the upcoming Impact Wrestling television taping on July 1st instead of the Slammiversary pay-per-view was because there was no way for the company to tape episodes of Impact Wrestling that would air after the pay-per-view without spoiling the plans. TNA is currently working on a new main event for Slammiversary that won’t involve the TNA World Heavyweight Championship.

– TNA President Dixie Carter tweeted the following photo of the new X-Division Championship, which will officially be unveiled soon.

Wyatt and Reigns fought to the back, turning the match into a six-man. Fans chanted “please retire” at Big Show and he responded on the mic by saying fans can buy out his contract if they want him to retire.

The babyfaces dominated the match and Orton hit Sheamus with an RKO for the win.

– WWE COO Triple H announced on Monday that NXT will be invading the Louder Than Life music festival in Louisville, KY in October.

Talent advertised include Finn Balor, NXT Women’s Champion Sasha Banks, NXT Tag Team Champions Blake and Murphy, Enzo Amore, Big Cass, Becky Lynch, Bayley, Baron Corbin, Tyler Breeze and The Vaudevillians.

WWE RAW Results – June 15, 2015

WWE RAW Opener:

The post-Money In The Bank edition of RAW opens up with a lengthy video package to honor the memory of the late, great, “American Dream” Dusty Rhodes. After the video package, we shoot to a live shot of the arena where the fans are chanting “Dusty! Dusty!” and then we go to the usual RAW opener to bridge the gap from that to the regular show.

After the intro stuff, the regular RAW show kicks off with Seth Rollins coming down to the ring. Rollins pretty much spends several minutes basically saying, “I won last night.” Total time-filler nonsense so far and we’re ten minutes deep.

Finally, after several more minutes of bragging, Dean Ambrose’s music hits. The fans explode as Ambrose comes out. Ambrose and Rollins argue back-and-forth for a bit about last night’s match.

Eventually, Sheamus comes out and this leads to our first match of the evening here on the post-Money In The Bank edition of RAW.

Sheamus vs. Dean Ambrose

The bell sounds to make this one official and Sheamus immediately goes after the injured leg of Ambrose. Sheamus is focusing all of his attack on the knee of Ambrose.

Amrbose finally starts fighting back until Sheamus takes his leg out again. The action spills out to the floor but eventually returns to the ring. Ambrose goes nuts on him once they get back in the ring. We head to a mid-match commercial.

When we return from the break, “The Celtic Warrior” is still dominating Ambrose. Ambrose fights out of a leg hold now. He unloads with punches and chops against the ropes but Sheamus chops the knee. Sheamus goes for the Cloverleaf but Ambrose fights it off. Sheamus gets sent to the floor but runs right back in. Ambrose catches him in a swinging neckbreaker. Ambrose keeps control and hits the bulldog. Ambrose goes to the top and Sheamus cuts him off. Sheamus with the rolling senton. He goes for the Cloverleaf and locks it in.

Ambrose finally makes it to the rope and breaks the hold. Sheamus with forearms on the apron now. Ambrose turns it around and hits forearms of is own. Ambrose ducks a Brogue Kick and rocks him. Ambrose with the elbow drop from the top for a close 2 count. Sheamus goes back to the leg and hits a high knee but Ambrose hits the big bounce back clothesline. Sheamus avoids Dirty Deeds and rolls to the floor as fans boo. Sheamus grabs his briefcase and starts walking away. Randy Orton’s music hits and out he comes.

Due to the distraction, Ambrose ducks a Brogue Kick attempt and rolls Sheamus up. 1-2-3. Ambrose wins.

After the match, Orton tries to attack Sheamus, but Sheamus tries running away. Orton ends up catching up with him and right when he goes to hit his RKO, Sheamus runs away again.

Winner: Dean Ambrose

Backstage: Seth Rollins & J&J Security

Backstage, Seth Rollins is talking to J&J Security when they finally bring up last week’s match, and how they feel Rollins is afraid of them — particularly Joey Mercury. J&J Security bust Rollins balls some more and walk off. We head to another break.

R-Truth vs. King Barrett

When we return from the break, R-Truth comes out. He joins the gang on commentary, only for them to tell him that he’s not on commentary tonight, he’s got an actual match.

“They never tell me anything,” says Truth, before he heads into the ring. Out next is his opponent for this evening, King Barrett. The bell sounds and here we go.

The match, which lasted all of a minute or two, saw Truth pin Barrett as the announcers say, “he did it again!” After the match, however, Barrett beat Truth down.

Winner: R-Truth

Jim Ross Blog: Money In The Bank Thoughts, Cena-Owens, Ladder Match & More

13

WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross updated his official blog on Monday with his thoughts and opinions on Sunday’s WWE Money In The Bank pay-per-view.

Below are some of the highlights:

On the show as a whole: “It’s hard to evaluate the show, other than what we saw, especially for me as I have no idea of the long term direction of WWE creative which is not a complaint BTW. The show was solid, the talents worked hard and there were some obvious highlights of which I will address. The show was better than most RAWS largely because it wasn’t a three hour marathon.”

On the Money In The Bank ladder match: “Not discounting the efforts of the MITB match which started the show the match seemed to be average plus and was largely a stunt man show with the stunts being toned down for a safer environment. I was surprised that Sheamus won the MITB and am curious to see where Sheamus’ win takes us. The MITB is another illustration of how hard it is to execute specialty matches like the Elimination Chamber, Hell in a Cell, and now MITB in a safer, more PG friendly presentation. At some point, the stunts will become repetitive and less impactful to a highly discerning audience.”

On John Cena vs. Kevin Owens: “Loved the Cena-Owens match including Cena winning but the post match action was the highlight for me especially Owens’ aggression, Cena’s selling and Owens’ manically laughing. Owens losing but leaving with all the heat was a good scenario IMO. What will people remember most about this match? I say it was the post match villainous conduct of Owens. Good execution of this match in many phases especially the post match. oth men busted their ass to deliver and they did.”

Daniel Bryan Remembers Dusty Rhodes

3

Daniel Bryan recently spoke to App.com about the recent passing of WWE Hall of Famer Dusty Rhodes. Bryan said that Dusty always saw the good in people and did not look down on the current generation of superstars, like some legends tend to do.

“It happens a lot in wrestling and a lot of other things where the older generation looks down at the younger generation and picks him apart. Instead of that, he would say, “Ooh, look at this in this person.” As opposed to looking at their negatives, he was looking at their positives.

He wasn’t afraid to tell you what was wrong with something, but he was also quick to highlight the very good aspects of your nature or things about you that you should focus on. He touched a lot — a lot — of people.”

Bryan, who lost his own father last year, said Dusty’s son Cody shares his engaging personality.

“I have fond memories of Dusty, but I also have fond memories of being in the car withCody while he was talking to his dad. You could hear the way they would banter back and forth and you can see how that vibrancy that Dusty had was passed on to Cody,” Bryan said. “And I don’t know Dustin as well as I know Cody, but you can see it in Dustin too.”

What are the odds of the Young Bucks in WWE?

Daniels Talks ROH On Destination America, Samoa Joe & Kevin Owens To WWE

2

Ring Of Honor star Christopher Daniels recently appeared as a guest on The Rack podcast. Below are some of the highlights from the interview.

On his upcoming dream tag team match with Kazarian vs AJ Styles and Samoa Joe: “Absolutely. We’ve traveled together; myself, Frankie, Joe and AJ, in one way, shape or form, the four of us have traveled and shared locker rooms for more than a decade but this will be the first time, and now the only time, all four of us will have ever been in the same match. So, I know I’m looking forward to it, Frankie is looking forward to it and I know that, more importantly, the Ring of Honor fan base is looking forward to it.”

On if there is any pressure on them to make this a good match: “Yeah, definitely that; I think the pressure that is there is self-inflicted. We know what we are capable of, Frankie and I know how good of a tag team we are and we know that despite that Joe and AJ don’t really tag much together or aren’t considered a full time tandem, we know how good they are as well, so I know how good we can make this match. So, any pressure we have is completely self-inflicted and self-imposed by us. We want to go out there and make a match that people are going to remember for years and I think there’s definitely, now that Joe’s future is more concrete, it’s good to know that this will be the last Ring of Honor match that he’ll have and it’s a way for the three of us to send him off.”

On if he’s happy for Samoa Joe signing with the WWE: “I’m thrilled for him, I’m happy for him and I’m glad that he’s sort of paving a way for a lot of different people, I think; in the next year or so, there’s going to be a lot of people that are modeling that same leap and, truthfully, Joe wasn’t the first one. When Kevin Owens went to the WWE, or when Finn Balor went to the WWE, I feel like there’s a lot more guys that will be brought to the WWE, either through NXT or directly to the main roster. I think there’s going to be a lot of guys who’ve been on the independents that have been honing their craft for a while and will finally get that opportunity to be there. So, I’m thrilled for him, Joe’s been one of my best friends for a long time and you can’t help but to be happy and be proud of someone who has worked as hard as he has to finally get that opportunity to show the world, on the main stage, what kind of professional wrestler he is.”

On if we will ever see The Fallen Angel in the WWE: “I’ve never said never; right now I’m full-time committed to Ring of Honor but I don’t know what the future holds in terms of that. All I can say is wait and see.”

On his thoughts of Kevin Owens and his transition to the WWE: “I think he’s doing just fine. I’d be hard-pressed to find someone who debuted on the WWE main roster as successfully as he had in the past 10 years I think. I mean, name anyone whose first WWE match, main roster match, was a pinball victory over John Cena; I think you’d be hard-pressed to find someone, other than Kevin, who does that.”

On if he feels he had more freedom in the ring with Ring of Honor over TNA: “I think so. I think both Frankie and I, both of us, have been given the freedom to do what we do best and especially in the past few months with the angle with the KRD and what’s happened with us and the World Tag Team Championships, I feel like we’re finally able to show what we do best and with such a deep tag team roster like ReDRagon and the Young Bucks and Roppongi Vica and The Decade, there’s a lot of fresh matches for us as the Tag Team Champions and us as heels again. I feel that there are a lot of possibilities for great match-ups and I’m looking forward to all of them.

For the Best in the World Pay Per View, (we have) a No-Disqualification Match; we’ve had a lot of matches with ReDRagon already, but I feel like that the story has turned with us as the Champions, I feel that there’s a whole new chapter we can write and those guys are one of the best tag teams in the world and I feel like we are a great antagonist for those guys, so no matter what happens on June 19th, I feel like there’s a lot more we can do with the with story as well between The Addiction and ReDRagon.”

On his thoughts on ROH’s deal with Destination America and if he is excited with the news: “Absolutely, I feel that one of the things that I wanted to see happen in coming back to Ring of Honor was, as strong as the syndication with Sinclair has been, I felt that one of the difficulties was trying to tell people a set uniform time and date that Ring of Honor could be on. Usually, you’d say ‘check your local listings’ but now we can tell people, if you want to watch Ring of Honor, go to Destination America on Wednesdays at 8:00 pm. So, I feel like we’ve opened up a lot of new eyes to our product in addition to the amount of eyes we had through syndication, I just feel like this opened up more doors for us and gets a lot more people aware of us and that’s definitely a great thing for Ring of Honor.”

Big SummerSlam Match For Seth Rollins, WWE Battleground IC Title Match

52

– At Sunday’s WWE Money in the Bank PPV, we saw The Miz interfere in the IC title match between Ryback and the Big Show. This was done to set up a 3-way match between them at next month’s Battleground PPV.

– As of this writing, the scheduled main event for WWE SummerSlam in August will be WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins vs. Triple H. The news was first reported by Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Radio.

WWE has already planted the seeds for the match, with a rift forming between Rollins and The Authority and Rollins using Triple H’s pedigree finisher. It remains to be seen if Rollins will be turning babyface for his feud with Triple H, but Brock Lesnar and Triple H both wrestling at SummerSlam will help solidify the show as one of WWE’s top special events of the year.

Bobby Lashley Interview: What Happens If TNA Goes Under, Vince vs. Dixie & More

1

Former TNA Champion Bobby Lashley was a guest on the latest episode of Submission Radio. Here are some highlights of what Lashley said about:

TNA’s Future On Destination America: “I don’t think they’re going anywhere right now, whether it’s Destination America, Spike, or whatever it is. I’m sure they’re going to be able to reach an agreement, reach a deal where they’re going to have a home, and they’re going to be there for a long time.

If they leave Destination America I think it would be a shame because of the amount of talent that we have on that show. I mean for the people that watch TNA, they know the kind of talent. I mean there’s some really big names there. I mean you got the Hardy Boyz, you got Kurt Angle, myself, MVP. There’s a lot of really high – Bobby Roode, Eric Young. There’s a lot of really, really good – Kennedy – over there.

I mean there’s so many guys over there that it would be…..if they do die, there would be another promotion somewhere that’s just ready to scoop up all these guys and already have a main level roster right off the bat. So I don’t know. I don’t see it happening. It’d be ridiculous for them to part ways. If anybody leaves it’s going to be TNA leaving to go somewhere else.”

NXT: “I think it’s great. I think what they’re doing down there is great. They’re building some guys up so those guys learning how to be superstars and do some big things, and when they do come up to the main roster, they’re ready because they do get a little bit of superstar status when they’re there because they have a TV channel and everything like that.

The only thing that I wish that they would do is that there’s a lot of guys out right now that they could really use to kind of mix into their program that I think would give those guys even bigger boosts. You have guys like Shelton Benjamin, you have Chris Masters, Carlito, you have John Morrison, you have a lot of really, really good guys out there, but they’re like “No. We’re not going to touch those guys because we really want to develop these younger guys”. I understand that, but I think [Hurricane] Helms said it best, it’s like you can’t go to a professional game and not have some of the professionals out there. And I think what they have going on right now they have some really good names, I think they should just kind of mix it up a little bit more.

And then another thing is I think they should use some of the guys that are out there right now, instead of these guys traveling around the world, independent promotions all over the place. You’ve already built these guys up, might as well use them to boost your guys and then give them an honorable retirement after the deal?”

Working For Vince McMahon & Dixie Carter:  “I think Vince is more of a business man and Dixie is more of a like a family person. Dixie kind of stays away from the business aspect and lets the people run the company, but at the same time Dixie is so big on the family, and I have no problem brining my kids there, bringing them backstage, meeting the guys and everything like that. She wants it to be more of a family environment. Whereas Vince, it’s business. It’s really business in the WWE. I mean both of them have their great qualities, but I think that’s the big difference between the two.”

Lashley was also asked if he’d consider returning to WWE before he retires to the ring. Lashley said “sure.”
