Jon Stewart Thanks WWE On “The Daily Show,” Chris Jericho Defends Bill DeMott, More

9

– Jon Stewart kicked off Tuesday’s edition of “The Daily Show” by thanking WWE for showing he and his son a great time at Monday’s RAW. Stewart also made a joke at Seth Rollins’ expense, asking “how do you get ball marks out of your shoe,” referring to the low-blow he delivered to him during their segment on the show.

– Although he has been under heavy fire lately, Bill DeMott received some support from Chris Jericho. Jericho came to DeMott’s defense on Twitter, noting that he’s a good trainer and that if things are too tough for you, you should simply quit. He tweeted the following:

“Hey @BillDeMott is a good friend & great trainer. If u can’t handle it then quit. My training at #HartBrothers camp was 10,000 times worse!”

NOTE: The above tweet has since been deleted.

– Speaking of Jericho, he also noted on Twitter that he’s stuck at JFK Airport in New York City due to delays, and is having trouble getting to Glasgow, Scotland. Jericho is scheduled to kick off his latest “Fozzy” tour in Glasgow on Thursday and he noted that he’s starting to get worried that he might not make it there in time.

On being from a wrestling family: “If anything there’s more pressure on second and third generation Superstars because you have to deliver. You can’t go out there and just suck, and we almost did.”

“The path before us was already laid, and it was intimidating, because we have Yoko, Maga, my dad, Afa, and Sika.”

“As far as us, everybody knew who our family was but we had to find out who the Usos are. We have our own identity, we’re not just a number in our family.”

On liking The Ascension: “It’s always good when you have a tag team, when people see two guys come in and stick together, like me and my brother.”

“They’re together and they just have to find what works. They have the old school Legion of Doom feel and we’ll cross paths soon enough.”

On working With Tyson Kidd and Cesaro: “I feel like the matches we had with The Wyatts, we can put on a higher quality match with those two.”

“I know Cesaro and Kidd are two guys put together but these guys really compliment each other.”

Blue Pants Explains How She Ended Up In NXT, What Triple H Told Her & More

17

Blue Pants recently spoke with WWE.com to explain how she ended up in NXT. During the interview, it is acknowledged that she is independent star Leva Bates. Below are highlights from the interview.

On how she ended up in NXT: “I actually filled out the recruit page, because you always hear, “Hey, fill out the recruit page,” and I got a call asking if I would be interested in wrestling a match at NXT! So, of course, I said yes. [Laughs] I ended up getting called, and the name Blue Pants actually came about [when] I was stretching near the ring. At that point I was told I was going to wrestle Carmella, and Enzo & Cass were brainstorming an [intro] just off the top of their heads. They were like, “Maybe we should call her out, the girl with the blue pants.” I laughed about that, I just thought it was really funny. I went, “Absolutely! Do that!” I was just wearing the pants to roll around in, I wasn’t sure I was going to actually wrestle in that outfit. I have a crazy amount of costumes. I always over-pack so I have hundreds of things with me. I just put the blue pants on real quick to roll around in the ring, stretch, kind of get comfortable and it just stuck … that’s how Blue Pants was born, and I just embraced it!”

On what Triple H said to her after her first few matches: “The first time I came back he said, “You got a Blue Pants chant. I don’t even. I can’t,” and then he started laughing. I shook his hand and said, “Well, thank you for everything, I really appreciate this opportunity.” He said, “You’re welcome,” and then he just started laughing at my blue pants! That was kind of a really awesome moment for me, to make Triple H laugh.”

On having a more regular role in WWE: “I would absolutely love that! I kind of go with the flow. If they want to keep calling me back, if they want to make it permanent, if they want to say, “Alright, the ship has sailed,” I will roll with it. Right now I could stress out about it, but you gotta have fun with it! Enjoy the moment as it happens, and that’s what I’m doing: enjoying every single second. If it continues to go on and becomes a permanent thing, hallelujah, that’d be awesome. Even if it doesn’t, I still accomplished a dream of mine. Actually a couple of dreams of mine! I got [to wrestle] for WWE, I got to wrestle in front of a huge crowd and I got to win in a match for WWE, so all of these dreams have happened! To keep pursuing it? Absolutely, I would love to do that. I’m just enjoying it while I can.”

Another Former WWE Developmental Wrestler Makes Strong Allegations About Bill DeMott

98

Former WWE developmental wrestler Kevin Matthews (@2CockyKM) has released a letter he sent to WWE complaining about abusive treatment from trainer Bill DeMott. Matthews’ allegations echo those of Austin Draven from earlier this week – physical abuse, negligence, bullying, inappropriate remarks referencing sexual orientation and more.

WWE issued a statement in response to the controversy:

“WWE took the accusations made two years ago by Austin Matelson very seriously, conducted a full investigation and was unable to validate the claims. Regardless, WWE continues to reinforce policies and procedures to ensure a positive training environment.”

Former developmental wrestler Ryan Nemeth (Dolph Ziggler’s brother) question’s WWE’s “full investigation” and corroborates Draven’s story.

https://twitter.com/HotYoungBriley/status/572540485916475392

Here’s Kevin Matthews’ letter to WWE talking about his experience training under Bill DeMott – via The Sports Courier:

To follow up on Austin’s letter to WWE about Bill DeMott that was swept under the rug just like mine, here is yet another developmental talents letter to the office that was also swept under the rug that was just sent to me AND the talent Ryan Collins “Brandon Traven” was released weeks after sending it.

Like I said you talk you get fired. Corrupt.

Subject: Letter
From: [email protected]
Date: Mon, 25 Mar 2013 21:29:05 -0400
Mr. Canyon Ceman,

I’m writing this letter today due to concerns I’ve had with the training. I’ve contemplated writing this for some time now. After seeing Harley Race this past week, and talking with him about my concerns for not only my training but my physical well being, he himself encouraged me to write a letter and not only that. He informed me to have anyone in the office to call him if they have any questions about any of the information I will be writing about.

My overall biggest concern is about my safety. Before we took off for Holiday break I suffered a minor head injury. The thing about head injuries is you can’t really tell how bad they are until you have proper time to rest. During the course of a practice, I got hit in the head during a drill. I felt very dizzy right away and stepped out of the ring. Practice was almost over that day and I told a few guys near me that I was dizzy. One suggested I might have just been dehydrated or in need of some food. I drank some water and ate a protein bar and I did feel a lot better as the day went. I decided to play the next day of training by ear and see how I felt. I stretched out and did a few rolls in the ring. After just a couple of rolls I felt very dizzy again and saw the trainer.

That day our usual trainer Brian Duncan was on the road. And a substitute trainer attended to me. As I was setting on the table, she examined my eyes and reaction time. Eventually Coach DeMott came in asking what happened. I told him the story of how everything happened, he then accused me of making things worse. Which is not uncommon as Coach DeMott gets angry and standoffish at any sign of injury. The main part of this story that angers me is that as he was leaving the trainers room, Coach DeMott slapped me on top of the head. This really angered me as I don’t believe he has right to put hands on anyone especially like that. I was lucky that my head injury wasn’t too serious. His negligence in this situation could have worsened my injury.

I have also grown very tired of how Coach DeMott has constantly bullied us. Whether by physically hitting us, or by calling us gay. He has on numerous occasions alluded to me being gay. His favorite phrase is “half a sissy” not to mention him calling me and others “faggots” Coach DeMott has also on several occasions grabbed the bottom rope while we are watching practice and pull it back to hit everyone in the face while they are paying attention to instruction. I personally don’t understand his destructive and bullying nature.

While talking with Harley this week about countless unproductive or straight up dangerous drills he encouraged this letter and told me to include that all parties who read it should call him to talk further. Harley agreed that we should not be subjective to physical, or verbal abuse. He was very angry about hearing the information I shared and more than anything didn’t understand why he has us doing unproductive drills to begin with, as opposed to having practice matches which we have only done on a few occasions.

In fact upon Harley hearing the story of Coach DeMott hitting me on the head after a head injury, Harley was very angered by this. In five years of training with Harley I never felt unsafe or in danger of suffering a career threatening injury much like I have here.

I have also witnessed Coach DeMott try to rip a t-shirt off Alexander Rusev, shortly after he had neck surgery.

He has on numerous occasions called Oliver Grey (Joel Pettyfer) Pedophile, smacked Enzo Amore (Eric Arndt) in the mouth. He has also told Enzo to kill himself on atleast one occassion that I heard with my own ears. Morale amongst us, is constantly low and is only getting worse. However on the flip side Steve Keirn, Ricky Steamboat, Terry Taylor and Billy Gunn have all been positive influences since joining this company.

The reason I haven’t said anything until now, is fear of either losing my job or how Coach DeMott will treat me moving forward. As he already treats me and some others very badly. I decided to go ahead and write as I feel now, nothing will change if I don’t speak up. And I hope I can count on your discretion on this matter.

Thank You,
Ryan Collins

WWE Issues Statement Regarding Allegations Made Against Bill DeMott

75

As reported on Monday, WWE’s head developmental trainer Bill DeMott is facing some serious allegations from a former WWE developmental talent.

“WWE took the accusations made two years ago by Austin Matelson very seriously, conducted a full investigation and was unable to validate the claims. Regardless, WWE continues to reinforce policies and procedures to ensure a positive training environment.”

Viewership For Monday’s Edition Of WWE RAW Drops

14

The Monday, March 2nd edition of WWE RAW averaged 3.82 million viewers, which is down from last week’s post-Fastlane edition of the show, which averaged 4.12 million viewers.

Monday’s RAW was down from usual seasonal averages, despite the hype and appearance of “The Daily Show’s” Jon Stewart. Stewart’s appearance did, however, keep the third hour from being the least-watched of the show, which it generally is each week.

The hourly viewership breakdown for this week is as follows:

Hour One: 3.55 million viewers
Hour Two: 4.07 million viewers
Hour Three: 3.86 million viewers

The final rating, which will be out later today, will likely fall between a 2.7 or 2.8.

Vince McMahon Fails To Make Forbes List, HBK Talks WWE Profiting From Being PG-Product

35

– After making the list last year, WWE Chairman Vince McMahon failed to make the Forbes list of billionaires for 2015 due to WWE stock woes. The Hartford Courant has an article up today that mentions Connecticut has 16 billionaires, but McMahon is not one of them. You can check out the article at Courant.com.

– WWE Hall Of Famer Shawn Michaels recently spoke to The Christian Post to promote his new book, “Shawn Michaels: Wrestling for my Life.” During the interview, Michaels explained why he feels WWE becoming a PG-product has made the company more profitable. Below is an excerpt.

“It was very successful and lucrative for the guys in it at that time but when wrestling first went sort of mainstream so to speak in the 80s, with Hulk Hogan in it, that was certainly more PG than it was Attitude Era. I would say that way back when in the 50s when it was again on at primetime it was the Gorgeous George era, it was more, certainly more realistic but it wasn’t Attitude Era. People talk about the Attitude Era as if it was some kind of longstanding, it was a four-year run out of a line of work that’s been around for fifty-plus years. I would always have to say that ultimately everything is done more for the bottom line of making a profit. WWE is more profitable if it appeals to more people.”
