Mick Foley Urges Daniel Bryan To Reject WWE’s ‘Horrible’ Booking Ideas

54

WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley wrote the following on Facebook about WWE’s handling of Daniel Bryan’s character:

“Whether Daniel Bryan – WWE Universe knows it or not, NOW is the time that the fiercest fighting takes place for a WWE champion – and it has nothing to do with the action in the ring. Now is the time to step up and shoot down horrible ideas that can derail even the most promising of ideas. I used to joke that Daniel was the exception to the rule that every top guy in WWE has been perceived at one time or another as a pain in the neck – largely for their willingness to step up and call the creative team out on bad ideas when they see them. That thing I saw tonight – that thing with Daniel and Brie Bella – WWE Universe and the car? That was a bad idea – one that never should have seen the light of day.

I have said on several occasions that I used up my ammo when it came to complaining about WWE storylines when I went to bat for the #YesMovement in the aftermath of the Royal Rumble. I’m going to do my very best to do just that. But I’ll first ask everyone involved – Daniel, Brie, Hunter, Steph, Vince, etc., to take a good look at the nearly identical storyline that ran Zack Ryder’s promising career off the rails…and do everything they can to avoid that same horrible stretch of track.”

Vince Russo: Rumors Of Him Being A Consultant For TNA Young’s Title Win

7

Vince Russo recently spoke with WrestleCrap’s RD & Blade, which you can listen to at Wrestlecrap.com. Here are some highlights of what he said about:

Rumors He Is A TNA Consultant: “First of all, just for the record, let me make one thing perfectly straight: my contract with TNA was over in February 2012. I do not have a contract with TNA that expires in three months. Where that information came from, I have absolutely no idea. I have not been under contract with any wrestling company since February 2012. So everything you read about ‘Oh, he’s with TNA and there’s still three months left on his contract’…. Who pulled that out of their backside and why, I have no idea. I am under contract with nobody.

“If I’m working as a consultant for TNA, if I’m working as a consultant for WWE, if I’m working as a consultant with Jeff Jarrett, you know what? I choose not to comment on that, because I’m just as fascinated to sit back in my house here in the mountains, in beautiful Colorado, and just see how two years and three months I have been out of the business, but yet every day I still seem to be the topic of conversation. And I am totally, totally entertained by that. So if I say I’m consulting for Jeff or if I’m consulting for Vince or if I’m consulting for TNA, it would take the enjoyment out of that for me. My number one priority right now is pyroandballyhoo.com, that is where I’m going to be spending the majority of my time.

Eric Young Winning The TNA World Title: “On the TNA front, I’m thrilled to death that EY is their champion and carrying the belt. I’ve known Eric for 10 years and in my opinion, there is nobody more deserving who worked hard, who put in the time, who never quit, and who is a great human being. In my opinion, they put the belt on him for all the right reasons. I couldn’t be happier for Eric Young.”

Terri Runnels Talks Relationship With Goldust, Romances In Wrestling & More

    1

The following are highlights of a new Ask Me Anything Reddit chat with former WWE Diva Terri Runnels:

Being in the PMS stable and doing the miscarriage angle: “HATED the name PMS, HATED, HATED that cheap angle!!! That was a Vince Russo special that I begged him to change…Vince McMahon sided with Russo on that one! CHEAP and not effective!”

Her favorite Owen Hart story: “Dustin and I always went over to Harley and BJ Race’s home to have his award winning chili. The night before the PPV we went over and Owen and I think Mick Foley came too. Harley had made a literal VAT of chili and he was very proud and protective of his bathtub full of red heaven! When Harley wasn’t looking Owen went to change the ratio of hot sauce to chili and accidentally (I really don’t think he meant to drop the whole bottle in the chili…maybe he did) added an entire bottle of hell’s whispers to the blue ribbon pot! Needless to say when Harley realized it and when he finally caught Owen off guard the next day he USED his stun gun on Owen until tears where coming out of Owen’s eyes! I really miss Owen! :(”

Her favorite Ray Traylor story: “Oh Dear Lord…there are just SO many and most take too long! I will tell you that Ray legitimately got us LOST in a parking garage for 15 minutes! Not saying what plant from God’s GREEN EARTH he might have enjoyed prior to…just saying I actually starting Fussin’ at him. For all of you NON Southerners…that would mean I was audibly complaining! :D”

How many behind the scenes romances were there with Superstars and Divas? “Can’t tell you now but it certainly seems like it is occurring some more now than in the ATTITUDE ERA! Lots of KayFabe Lovin back in the day!”

Did WWE want her to expose her chest when The Kat did? “I showed what I wanted to where my boobs were concerned. I enjoyed the introduction and perfection of the underboob! Always made some countries a little nervous. :D”

Getting put through a table by The Dudleys: “LOVED being the first woman to be put through the table with the Dudleys. Vince was VERY nervous and threatened Bubba if he hurt me! I asked for the table NOT to be gimmicked…and my only regret is that Bubba was scared he would hurt me and he protected me too much! I wanted more of that table! TRUE!”

Who she wanted to work more with: “I would love to have done more with Steve Austin. We always had fun whenever we had “stuff” to do. He is not the “manage needy type” if ya know what I mean! :D Still liked working with him. Loved working with Edge and would have liked more and also Test. I would have had fun with Kevin Nash too!”

Taking a stinkface from Rikishi: “Funny story…Junior said “Girl, I am extra fresh and clean for you!”…and so he was! Who woulda thunk it right!?! If you ever really pay attention…most people don’t “take” his finish…I saw it as a respect thing and took it as best I could. He could have made it brutal for me and didn’t…so happy we have been good friends for over 25 years! We go way back to NWA WCW days at Center Stage in ATL…them wuz tha dayz! :D”

What’s the nicest thing Vince McMahon ever did for her? “Let me sign a contract to only work TV’s and PPV’s so I could be at home with Dakota! :)”

Her current relationship with Goldust: “Always massive respect and love based on the fact that we have a daughter together. Sometimes I wish his current wife would be comfortable in the fact that he is all hers where the husband wife thing is concerned. We have co-parented and communicated since 1999 w/o any major troubles. I think there might be a bit of a short leash there. That is his choice and he has to live with it. What matters is that we communicate for Dakota. We used to have a lot more fun and laughs though…I have to say that is a bit disappointing now that I think of it. :(”

Will she ever write a tell-all book? “Nope, I like my friends and don’t think it’s nice to do that to them. I think people should have a choice if they want to tell provocative things about themselves…shouldn’t be in the hand of others.”

Does she see herself in the WWE Hall of Fame? “I sincerely believe there are SO many deserving older wrestlers that should be given the honor before me.”

What was planned for her storyline with Brian Pillman before his death: “I was going to leave Dustin instead of finishing out the renewal of our vows after Brian “had” me for 30 days. Dustin was going to turn face and I would have become more of a heel.”

Trish Says Today’s Divas Need Better Character Development, Sunny’s Ex Makes RAW Cameo

    – Today’s wrestling birthdays include Colt Cabana (34) and Nasty Boy Brian Knobbs (50).

    – WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus spoke to The Miami Herald during WrestleMania XXX weekend and compared today’s WWE Divas to her generation:

“We represented things different. We were kind of there to work. That was our mantra. We wanted you to look at us for our work, not necessarily what we are wearing. I think the diva’s division, and this might be cliché because I don’t know how many times I’ve said this, but all they need is a bit more character development. We don’t get to know them, so when they get to the ring unfortunately, nobody cares. There is nothing for us to get behind or motivated or excited about character-wise and storyline-wise. I think there needs to be a little bit more focus on characters and with more TV time. I need to know these characters.”

  • WWE RAW Results – May 5, 2014

    WWE United States Championship
    (20-Man Battle Royal)

The post-Extreme Rules edition of WWE RAW kicks off with The Shield’s theme music hitting. All three members of the group come through the crowd to get to the ring, with Dean Ambrose — the man who is defending his WWE U.S. title in a 20-man battle royal — leading the pack. Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns remain on the outside of the ring. Justin Roberts does the introduction and then the RAW theme music hits as his 19 opponents all come to the ring at the same time.

The bell rings and all of the guys immediately start brawling. Zack Ryder is the first to get eliminated. Out next is R-Truth. Big Show eliminates Titus O’Neil. Xavier Woods was eliminated, but the announcers never acknowledged it. Big Show just press-slammed Sin Cara out of the ring, eliminating him. Damien Sandow is eliminated as we head to a mid-match commercial.

When we return from commercial, the action is still in full effect inside the ring. Everyone teams up to try and eliminate Big Show and Mark Henry but the break free and lay everyone out. The two stare each other down and then the two big boys collide. Big Show ends up chokeslamming him. We’re told that Heath Slater was eliminated during the break. Everyone teams up and eliminates Big Show and then Mark Henry.

Kofi Kingston does a cool one-handed handstand on the apron outside the ropes to avoid elimination, but then Ambrose eliminates him anyways. Goldust is knocked off the top rope and out to the floor, so he is eliminated. Cody Rhodes is eliminated seconds later. Santino Marella pulls out the Cobra and nails Dolph Ziggler with it to eliminate him. Ryback and Curtis Axel team up and eliminate Santino. The Albany fans begin loud “Goldberg” chants directed towards Ryback.

The only guys left are Dean Ambrose, Ryback, Curtis Axel, Jack Swagger and Sheamus. Ryback and Axel try and eliminate Ambrose. Some scattered “CM Punk” chants break out. Axel is eliminated. Ambrose eliminates Ryback. We’re down to the final three, which are Ambrose, Sheamus and Swagger. Ambrose eliminates Swagger and then turns around right into a Brogue Kick from Sheamus. Sheamus picks Ambrose up and simply throws him over the top. Sheamus wins.

Winner and NEW WWE United States Champion: Sheamus

Triple H Announces Tonight’s Main Event

After the match, Ambrose is pissed and Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins are standing by him. Triple H’s “King of Kings” music hits and he makes his way out to the top of the stage. He says The Shield and Evolution had a great battle last night. He informs The Shield that they’ll be competing in a six-man tag-team match later tonight against The Wyatt Family and then tells them that they’re luck is about to run out. After this segment, we head to another commercial break.

    Renee Young Interviews Sheamus

When we return from commercial, Renee Young is backstage with Sheamus. She asks him how it feels to have just won the U.S. Championship. He talks about how he hasn’t had much luck since returning, but now he’s set to go on a roll. He tells Dean Ambrose, “no hard feelings, fella” and leaves.

Backstage: Daniel Bryan, Brie Bella & Stephanie McMahon

Backstage we see Daniel Bryan and Brie Bella chatting. Stephanie McMahon enters the room. She says all she did was anger Kane last night. She says the only way she can guarantee Bryan’s safety tonight is to stay in his locker room until his match later tonight. She leaves. After she leaves, Brie says, “look.” The camera pans over and we see Kane’s mask hanging on their dressing room door.

    Rob Van Dam vs. Cesaro

Back in the arena, Rob Van Dam’s music hits. RVD makes his way to the ring as the announcers inform us he’ll be competing next against “The King of Swing” Cesaro. We head to a commercial break.

When we return from commercial, Paul Heyman comes out to no music. He reminds us that his client Brock Lesnar broke The Undertaker’s undefeated streak at WrestleMania. He then introduces Cesaro. Cesaro and Heyman make their way to the ring.

Van Dam starts things off by taking the offensive lead. He hits all of his typical moves as the crowd gets fired up. The fans chant “Ce-Sar-O” to try and rally behind him. The fans chant “Walrus” at Heyman on the outside. Cesaro starts making a comeback as we head to a mid-match commercial.

When we return from commercial, Cesaro has Van Dam in a headlock as the fans chant “RVD” to try and rally behind Van Dam. RVD gets out and starts fighting back with an assortment of kicks. Cesaro ends up cutting RVD’s comeback short and is back in control of the offense.

Cesaro does his power-up gut-wrench suplex on Van Dam, holds on and rolls through, and then does it two more times. Van Dam ends up getting his leg tied up in the ropes and is now hanging upside down. Cesaro kicks the crap out of Van Dam, then goes outside the ring and punches away at him. He refuses to stop despite demands to do so from the referee, so the ref calls for the bell. Cesaro is disqualified.

Winner via DQ: Rob Van Dam

Jim Ross Q&A: WWE Overprotective Of John Cena?, HHH/CM Punk & More

    55

The following are highlights of a recent Jim Ross Q&A update:

On the reason WWE is so overprotective of John Cena: “Protecting someone in Cena’s position isn’t something that is new but one could argue in hindsight that WWE might have gone too far with it on Sunday night.”

On the Daniel Bryan vs. Kane match at Extreme Rules: “Both men really worked hard and if one likes stunts and special effects of a match they provided it.”

On the team of Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas: “Very good in ring team who arguably were underutilized in hindsight.”

On whether or not guys like Triple H & CM Punk were pushed by WWE because they aren’t drug addicts: “It’s a common sense and professional matter….abusing drugs simply makes no sense and the unprofessional and childish behavior of the party boy group never helped any company. HHH was a model locker room talent from day one.”
