Emma Speaks On Her Character, Working WrestleMania XXX, Australian Return

6

The following are highlights of a new Daily Telegraph interview with WWE Diva Emma:

Performing at WrestleMania XXX: “It was very crazy, I mean 70,000 people. When I entered the arena it was emotional to look around and see that I was there and not in the crowd. I was part of the show. I had literally dreamt of getting there, it was surreal.”

Her character: “I like to have fun and I like to dance so when I hear my music and bubbles start flowing it’s time to dance my heart out. But when I get in the wrestling ring it’s all action.”

Returning home for the August tour: “I can’t wait. I haven’t been home since Christmas in 2012. To be able to perform in my own country, it’s something I could only dream of.”

  • WWE Extreme Rules Results – May 4, 2014

    WWE Extreme Rules Pre-Show

The pre-show is now officially underway, featuring our panel consisting of Josh Mathews, Alex Riley, Booker T and Sheamus. The guys run down the key matches on tonight’s show, all-the-while we hear a very loud and passionate “Yes!” chant in the background from the New Jersey fans. Video packages are shown, the guys run down matches, we check in with Renee Young in the “social media lounge,” etc. The usual pre-show stuff. The first match, which will be the “WeeLC” match between El Torito and Hornswoggle, is coming up in just a minute or so. Now we hear a pretty loud “CM Punk” chant from the fans in the IZOD Center. Sounds like we’ve got ourselves a hot crowd so far.

    WeeLC Match
    – El Torito vs. Hornswoggle

The pre-show panel shoots off to the announce table where Michael Cole, Jerry Lawler and JBL welcome us to the show. Seated in front of them, which Cole introduces, are a bunch of midgets doing special commentary. The ring announcer is a midget. The announcers (the normal crew) are already making a ton of puns and bad jokes. “I hope this is a short match,” etc. El Torito is introduced first and he comes out with his Los Matadores partners. The regular commentary team is interacting with the midget commentary team, and even the midget commentary team are making bad jokes. “I think that comment went over my head, King!” says one of the “little people” announcers. Now Hornswoggle is introduced and he comes out with his 3MB partners. It’s time for the very legendary, first-ever “WeeLC” match, ladies and gentlemen!

The bell rings, and our special midget referee makes this one official. Torito gets the early advantage. The regular and midget commentary team are talking back-and-forth, communicating with each other and also taking turns at calling the midget-action in the ring. They are making so many bad little-people style jokes already that it’s impossible to keep count. We already have our first mini-foreign object, as a small chair is brought into the ring.

Jinder Mahal is mixed into the action now, taking gores in the nuts, etc. The announcers make jokes about Mahal’s height, saying he’s almost short enough to be a part of this match. A mini ladder is brought into the ring. The midget throws it out of the ring. He gets another ladder, which is still small, but a tad-bit larger than the previous Hornswoggle goes to the top of the ladder and poses, giving off the impression that “I’m gonna do it fans! I’m gonna risk my life and jump off of this — two foot tall — ladder!” In all honesty, this is actually very entertaining. It’s pretty much exactly what you’d expect, by the way. We head to a mid-match commercial.

When we return from commercial, 3MB and Los Matadores are shown fighting in the aisle. We see some highlights of some “mini-high spots” that took place during the commercial. The announcers continue firing off bad midget-jokes as the action between the key principles continues inside the ring. Hornswoggle hits RVD’s “Rolling Thunder” move for a near fall. Hornswoggle clears off the midget announce table, which is obviously a smaller version of a regular announce table. The announcers are putting this over like the most dangerous thing ever. Horny jumps off the apron and splashes onto Torito through the table.

Following the mini-table spot, the New Jersey fans break out in a “this is awesome” chant. The action returns to the ring, where 3MB and Horny are standing around as Torito is laid out. Horny blasts him with the mini-chair. Horny goes to hit Torito, who is being held by Heath Slater on the apron, with a mini-chair, but Torito moves. This leads to Horny accidentally hitting Slater, knocking him off the apron and crashing through a couple of real-sized tables on the floor. Seconds later, another big table spot happens with Los Matadores and Torito crashing through regular sized tables on the opposite side of the floor outside the ring. About a minute later, Torito puts Horny through a table in the ring. 1-2-3. El Torito wins the first-ever “WeeLC” match. Really fun stuff.

    Winner: El Torito

Backstage News On WWE Wanting Ric Flair To Work A More Regular Role On TV

    11

According to one source, WWE has an offer on the table for Ric Flair to come back and appear on WWE television on a more frequent basis, but that Flair needs to “dot his I’s, cross his T’s and get his house in order.”

While it’s not exactly clear what that refers to, most assume it means Flair needs to tie up some loose ends in his personal life before becoming a regular on WWE programming again.

It’s being said that if Flair does end up coming back on a regular basis, it’s likely that he’ll be involved with guys like Triple H and Randy Orton going forward.

  • Possible Spoiler On Outcome Of Evolution vs. The Shield At Extreme Rules

    11

According to one source, the original plan was for Evolution to defeat The Shield at tonight’s WWE Extreme Rules pay-per-view. Those plans reportedly changed when news came down that Batista was going to be taking time off after tonight’s show.

However, with the latest reports indicating that “The Animal” may be sticking around through WWE’s upcoming Payback pay-per-view, it’s possible that the original plan of an Evolution victory could be back in effect.

As of last word, the plan was to keep the Evolution vs. Shield program going after tonight’s show, which would mean it’s likely that the heels are going over.

  • Jim Ross Blog: Match-By-Match Predictions For Tonight’s Extreme Rules PPV

    1

The following are highlights from the latest Jim Ross blog:

On Daniel Bryan vs. Kane: “Daniel Bryan defeats Kane, overcomes the odds from a battered body and a much bigger, stronger opponent and then begins to get prepared for an eventual challenge to the WWE World Title from Brock Lesnar. Still of the mindset that the Bryan vs. Kane match exceeds expectations.”

On Evolution vs. The Shield: “Thinking that The Shield overcomes Evolution in what should be a really strong 6 Man Tag. I expect this match to be very well produced and executed. Anxious to see it and hopefully the younger trio prevails to continue their ascension to the top of the roster.”

On Bray Wyatt vs. John Cena: “Predicting that Bray Wyatt wins the cage match versus John Cena and I hope that it isn’t via escaping the cage as that was designed years ago in another era to help ‘save’ the hero’s image. Those days are long gone and Wyatt beating Cena by pinfall inside the cage helps build of the Wyatt persona and doesn’t aversely harm Cena but instead facilitates the rivalry of which Cena will eventually prevail.”

On Cesaro vs. Jack Swagger vs. RVD: “Can’t see why Cesaro shouldn’t to win the three man elimination match that actually should be really good featuring RVD and Jack Swagger as well. I’m a fan of all three men’s work and have high expectations for this match.”

On Bad News Barrett vs. Big E.: “If Bad News Barrett doesn’t win the IC Title Sunday Night against Big E then WWE is missing a great opportunity to elevate a much needed antagonist and to continue to rehabilitate the image of the IC Title that used to mean so much in WWE. A loss to Barrett doesn’t do significant damage to Big E who has cooled off since winning the IC Title and ‘E’ can easily become relevant by being on the chase in an attempt to regain it.”

On Paige vs. Tamina Snuka: “Paige should retain the Divas Title in her first major title defense against Tamina Snuka. Was asked on the Q&A’s elsewhere here if Paige was called up too early and my answer was an emphatic no. Paige is young and being on the road is a challenge to all especially younger talents but as far as in ring action is concerned, the Brit has been ready a while. I see Tamina imposing her will and Paige battling from underneath to prevail. Keep it simple, logical and easy to execute. Plus, give these women time to tell a story. ”

On Alexander Rusev vs. R-Truth & Xavier Woods: “Rusev is pitted against both R Truth and Xavier Woods as I assume that Truth & Woods will act as a tag team. Nonetheless Rusev should win but winning quickly is an important consideration. If WWE continues to play to Rusev strengths and the announce team continues to point out all the positives of the Bulgarian Brute, the rookie has a shot at getting over as in a year from now. I do like the package of Rusev and Lana as she has a distinctive look and accent that makes her different. Being different in today’s world of pro wrestling, just like yesteryear, is imperative.”

On El Torito vs. Hornswoggle: “The obvious thing to do in the Hornswoggle vs. Torito match is to make the audience happy in this comedy outing and see the diminutive and talented masked grappler prevail but I’d go the other way and spotlight Horney as a way to promote his upcoming movie and to further the issue with Torito.”

  • Backstage News On Raquel Diaz’s Release From WWE

    18

As previously reported, WWE NXT Diva Raquel Diaz (aka Shaul Guerrero) was released from WWE earlier this week. Because she was just recently paired up with Baron Corbin as part of a gimmick makeover, it’s being said that there were no definitive plans to release her from the company. Basically, her release was likely an impulse move made by the company.

It’s worth noting that Diaz had a reputation of not taking training seriously and was also someone who would consistently request time off. Additionally, she actually quit the company during her initial run, but eventually opted to make a return.

As of right now there is no word as to whether or not Corbin will continue to work under his new biker persona, a gimmick that Diaz was originally planned to be a part of.

  • WWE Extreme Rules 2014: Preview and Predictions

    34

Expect to see an abundance of chairs, tables, and possibly sledgehammers this Sunday, as the WWE gets extreme during its annual Extreme Rules pay-per-view. There are eight matches scheduled in total, with Daniel Bryan making his first title defense against former tag team partner Kane and Evolution vs. the Shield serving as the headlining matches. Without further ado, here are our predictions for this Sunday’s event.

    Hornswoggle-Torito

WeeLC Match: El Torito vs. Hornswoggle (Pre-Show)

Michael Hicks: For once there is a match on the pre-show that actually feels like a pre-show match. 3MB finally got their first win in forever last week, so I’m thinking Hornswoggle wins this one after moving out of the way of a diving El Torito, allowing him to crash through a table in a match that should at least be slightly entertaining.

    Winner: Hornswoggle

Adrian Fylonenko: Surprisingly, El Torito vs. Hornswoggle in the midget version of a TLC match has promise. This bout is either going to be highly entertaining, or dreadfully awful. There is no room in between. I assume that El Torito and Hornswoggle will be accompanied by their “friends” and I have no doubt that they will be involved in the match in some way shape or form.

It wouldn’t be surprising to see step ladders instead of traditional ladders, and plastic children’s table chairs instead of steel chairs, but when it is all said and done, El Torito, with the help of Los Matadores will stand….tall. I’m guessing this match will be by pin-fall only considering there is no championship on the line.

El Torito wins after hitting a top rope 450 Splash. You watch.

    Winner: El Torito

    Rusev-Truth-Woods

Handicap Match: R-Truth and Xavier Woods vs. Alexander Rusev

Michael: Rusev has been destroying Truth and Woods in recent weeks. There’s absolutely no way he loses this one, as it would only make him look weak, even if it is a handicap match. I’d love to see them give Rusev a few minutes to show what he can do in front of a PPV audience. Unfortunately, I predict that Rusev takes this one in a 3-minute squash match.

    Winner: Alexander Rusev

Adrian: This could be a pretty decent handicap match if it’s given enough time. Truth and Woods can be entertaining in the ring, but the WWE Universe hasn’t been able to see their stuff in quite some time – due to the fact that they are generally fed to guys like Bray Wyatt and yes, Rusev. However, in a 2-on-1 situation, there is a lot of room to entertain.

The outcome will always remain the same. Rusev come, Rusev crush, Rusev win, Rusev leave. Alexander Rusev hasn’t wrestled a match on WWE TV that has lasted longer than three minutes, so let’s see what this dude can do in the squared circle.

    Winner: Alexander Rusev

    RVD-Swagger-Cesaro

Jack Swagger vs. Rob Van Dam vs. Cesaro

Michael: This should definitely be one of the more entertaining matches of the night, as there’s a decent build between the three and they should all work well together. This match could have been entertaining with some sort of stipulation, but what can you do? It seemed like Cesaro was going to win the IC Title tournament before losing to RVD in the semifinals and a win here will serve as his consolation prize. I expect Heyman to get involved in this one to possibly to start an ongoing feud between Cesaro and RVD.

    Winner: Cesaro

Adrian: With Bray Wyatt vs. John Cena and Evolution vs. Shield on the card, I’m picking this Triple Threat bout to be the (I’m coming atcha like a) dark horse match of the night. We all know it definitely has potential, given the superstars involved and the managers that will be at ring-side. However, I agree with what Chris Jericho said on his most recent podcast. In that it’s very strange to see a Triple Threat match taking place with absolutely nothing on the line except for bragging rights.

Cesaro is the newest Paul Heyman guy and it’s a phenomenal move for both parties. Cesaro is over, getting better on the mic and is one of the more consistently entertaining performers in the ring and Paul Heyman is one of the greatest wrestling managers/characters of all time. The Swiss Superman is the next big thing in WWE and the only way I can see him losing is if Creative wants to continue a Cesaro/Heyman vs. Swagger/Colter feud. If that’s the case then I’d give the win to RVD, so I am a bit hesitant to pick a winner.

But, since I must, I will go with my gut and give the win to Cesaro, who will pin Swagger after hitting the Neutralizer. Cesaro pinning RVD could happen too, but I think that Mr. 420 is in the bout to enhance it. He will neither pin, nor be pinned.

    Winner: Cesaro

    Barrett-Big-E

Intercontinental Championship Match: Big E vs. Bad News Barrett

Michael: Big E’s title run has become a bit stale and Bad News Barrett has gotten a decent push since returning with his new gimmick. Barrett will take this one clean after hitting the Bull Hammer Elbow, which will not only bring a bit of prestige back to the title, but begin his ascent to the main event level of the company.

    Winner: Bad News Barrett

Adrian: I don’t know about you, but I love me some Bad News Barrett. I’ve been a big fan of Barrett’s for quite some time and finally, the Brit is connecting with the crowd and getting a big push. In the past three weeks, Barrett has defeated Dolph Ziggler, Sheamus and RVD to earn an Intercontinental Title shot against Big E at Extreme Rules. That has to be Barrett’s most successful month of wrestling in the past three years.

Unfortunately, Big E has been quiet. Too quiet. It seems like fans have forgotten about him and he is the damn IC champion! WWE has a habit of Barrett needs to continue his momentum and win the Intercontinental Title from Big E. He’s had to look and the talent to be great and now he has the fan support. Look out for Bad News Barrett!

    Winner: Bad News Barrett
