Andre Battle Royal Participants, SmackDown Main Event, RAW Fallout Video

12

– The first names confirmed for the 30-Man Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal are Big E, Ryback, Dolph Ziggler, Kofi Kington, Curtis Axel and Damien Sandow.

– WWE will tape this week’s episode of Smackdown tonight from Little Rock, Arkansas after the live Main Event broadcast on the WWE Network.

“After suffering a KO Punch last week, Kane gets his shot at payback against Big Show on SmackDown.”

– Here’s the latest RAW Fallout video, featuring Dolph Ziggler, Titus O’Neil and Xavier Woods discussing Daniel Bryan occupying Raw.

Dolph Ziggler actually criticized Bryan for #OccupyRAW, saying that he wouldn’t have done what Bryan did. “I’m just really good at wrestling, walking, talking, texting and tweeting,” Ziggler said. “But I mean, when it comes down to the nitty gritty, and you need something done, just call out a bunch of fans and they’ll do whatever you say.”

Jim Ross, Mick Foley, Chris Jericho & More React To #OccupyRAW

On Monday’s RAW, WWE finally set the stage for Daniel Bryan to get his big moment at WrestleMania XXX. After weeks of teasing Daniel Bryan vs. Triple H, Bryan and his fans took over the show and demanded the match from the Authority.

VIDEO of the #OccupyRAW Movement From Monday Night

After Triple H agreed to wrestle Bryan at WWE’s biggest show of the year, Bryan dropped his “one more thing” bombshell – if he defeats Triple H, he gets added to the main event WWE World Heavyweight Championship match. Triple H reluctantly agreed and Daniel Bryan now has a clear path to stand tall at WrestleMania as WWE champion. Here are some reactions from the wrestling world regarding this storyline development:

Hulk Hogan’s WrestleMania XXX Announcement, John Cena & The Wyatt Family

This week’s RAW kicks off with Justin Roberts immediately introducing Hulk Hogan. The WrestleMania XXX host’s music hits and “The Hulkster” makes his way out to the ring. The sold out crowd in Memphis, Tennessee erupts for the nine-time main eventer of WrestleMania.

The music stops and the “Hogan, Hogan” chants break out from the passionate Memphis crowd. “Let me tell you something, Memph-o Hulkamaniacs,” says Hogan. He talks about reliving some of his greatest WrestleMania matches on the WWE Network, including ones against Ultimate Warrior, Randy Savage and Andre The Giant. He talks about the moment that he slammed Andre at WrestleMania III. Hogan says while doing watching all of those great moments, he came up with a historic idea.

Hogan says in celebrating 30 years of WrestleMania, and in honoring one of the greatest Superstars of all-time, we’re going to have an over-the-top, 30-man, “Andre The Giant Memorial” battle royal. He says the winner will receive the coveted Andre The Giant Memorial trophy. With that said, we take a look at the titan tron. We see the Andre The Giant trophy that Hogan just referenced.

“So in closing Memph-o-nites, I got one question for ya. Whatcha gonna do…” Before Hogan can leave, John Cena’s theme music hits. The leader of the Ce-Nation comes out clapping and looks fired up. The Memphis fans give Cena his typical mixed-bag reaction. Cena references a sign in the crowd that says “Hogan Still Rules.” He says he wanted to come out and tell Hogan to his face that he definitely does still rule. He puts over Hogan for being the guy who started WrestleMania and says it’s good to have him back home. He puts over the Andre The Giant Memorial that Hogan just announced and then speaks about his memories watching Hogan-Andre at WrestleMania III. Cena says he is the first to enter his name for the Andre The Giant Memorial battle royal.

The Wyatt Family cut-in happens and the Memphis fans explode. We see the latern, followed by, “Memphis, we’re here.” The Wyatt Family music hits and the fans pop again. All three members of The Wyatt Family make their way to the ring. Bray says he’s always been fascinated with pride. He says it’s his favorite sin. He mocks Hogan for claiming to be immortal, the vitamins and prayers rap Hogan used to give, and then mocks Cena’s “hustle, loyalty and respect” phrase. He calls both Cena and Hogan liars. He says he’s going to kill Cena’s legacy. He says when Cena looks at Wyatt square in the eyes, he’ll see a god. The crowd, who was with Wyatt up until that point, boo’d him for calling himself a god.

Cena asks if Bray listens to himself spewing all that crap. He mocks Wyatt and sings a few verses from Margaritaville. The Memphis fans are slowly getting with Cena as he continues to run down Wyatt on the mic. Cena tells Hulk that he might not be able to make that battle royal. He officially challenges Wyatt to a match at WrestleMania XXX.

Wyatt tells Cena that it’s always fun and games with Cena, until it’s him caught in the spider’s web. He drops the mic and all three members of The Wyatt Family slowly start approaching the ring. Cena takes his shirt off, Hogan takes his sunglasses off. Both guys stand their ground as The Wyatt Family gets closer. On that note, we head to a commercial.

    John Cena vs. Erick Rowan

When we return from commercial, Cena and Erick Rowan are duking it out in the ring. We see Hogan at ringside, sticking around to show his support for Cena. The Cena-Rowan match that WWE announced earlier today for tonight’s show is in progress now. The dueling “let’s go Cena” and “Cena sucks” chants start up as Rowan starts to gain the upper-hand in the match. Rowan continues to dominate Cena until Cena starts fighting back with kicks and punches. Rowan cuts his offensive comeback short, and hits him with a fall-away slam for a near fall..

We see Hogan looking on at ringside, followed by a close-up shot of Bray shouting instructions to Rowan. Rowan slaps Cena in a bear hug. Rowan rag-dolls Cena, shaking him around in the bear hug the same way Chyna used to do to Marlena during the Attitude Era. Rowan slams Cena out of the bear hug. He scoops him back up and powerslams him right back down. Rowan goes to scoop Cena up again for another slam, but Cena reverses it into a school boy. 1-2-3. Cena wins out of nowhere.

    Winner: John Cena

    After The Match

Cena’s music hits and Hulk Hogan comes into the ring to celebrate with him. Bray orders Rowan and Luke Harper to go back to the ring. They approach the apron, but Hogan and Cena don’t back down, resulting in Rowan and Harper backing down. Bray shakes his head and smiles as all three members of The Wyatt Family walk away. Hogan’s music hits again and he and Cena hug. Hogan does the ear-pose to the crowd and does some posing. Cena plays to the crowd with Hogan, with an ear-to-ear grin on his face the entire time. Cena and Hogan both do the muscle poses together.

Some Matches & Action Scheduled For Tonight

We shoot to the announce table where Michael Cole, JBL and the hometown boy, Jerry “The King” Lawler quickly plug the WWE Network. After that, they reveal Sheamus vs. Christian for a match later tonight. The fans will get to vote for the stipulation for their match, with the options being a Falls Count Anywhere match, a 2-out-of-3 Falls match and a Memphis Street Fight.

After that, the commentary team runs down some more of the action scheduled for tonight. A tag-team match featuring Batista and Randy Orton against Big Show and Daniel Bryan is announced. They promote that The Undertaker will be on RAW later tonight as well. Finally, we see a shot of The Authority backstage making their way to the ring. After that, we head to a commercial break.

    The Authority Address Daniel Bryan

When we return from commercial, we see highlights of everything that went down between Triple H and Daniel Bryan from the end of last week’s RAW. After that, we shoot back live to the arena where Triple H’s music hits. Both he and Stephanie McMahon make their way out to the top of the stage. Stephanie talks about what happened last week with Bryan and HHH. The fans boo Stephanie, but not nearly as bad as they did last week in Chicago. Stephanie mockingly apologizes to Bryan. They talk about Daniel Bryan’s value. She says he has a certain niche following. She says they won’t fire Bryan as long as he returns the favor and publicly apologizes to them. Stephanie says HHH is above Bryan. She smiles and says they hope the fans enjoy the rest of the show. They walk off.

The Usos vs. Ryback & Curtis Axel

After that, we hear, “oh you didn’t know?” Road Dogg and Billy Gunn come out in street clothes. Michael Cole says The New Age Outlaws will be joining them on commentary as new WWE Tag-Team Champions, The Usos, will be in action next. On that note, we head to another commercial break.

When we return, we see Ryback and Curtis Axel in the ring. They will apparently be The Usos opponents tonight. We see a pre-taped interview via split-screen with Ryback. Ryback talks about entering the Andre The Giant Memorial, a match that wasn’t announced until RAW started, yet he announced his participation in the match in an interview taped before the show. Good stuff.

Anyways, The Usos come out doing their usual routine, only this time they have a couple extra points of gold around their waist. Road Dogg is already cracking jokes about The Usos on commentary as the champs make their way to the ring. We see highlights of The Usos winning the tag-team titles last week on RAW. Road Dogg says they were under the weather last week and that’s why they lost the belts.

The bell rings and Uso starts things off with Ryback. Uso chops Ryback repeatedly and then arm-drags him down to the mat. Ryback quickly tags out. Curtis Axel comes in and Uso goes straight to work on him. The finish in this one comes moments later, with The Usos doing their knew finishing sequence, including one Uso diving over the top and onto the floor, making the tag to his brother in the process, and then that Uso coming off the top with a big splash for the pin.

    Winners: The Usos

  • Top 5 Superstars Who Never Won the WWE Championship

    56

Throughout the course of WWE history, many have had the chance to latch onto the most coveted prize in sports entertainment: the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

Many former champions have been memorable. Others have been downright Miz-erable. Unfortunately, some of the most talented and entertaining superstars in the history of the company never had the chance to obtain the sport’s prized possession. Here are five of the most talented superstars to never hold the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

    5. William Regal

    william-regal

Regal holds the dubious distinction of being the first inductee into the much-respected “Kiss My Ass Club.” If only that honor were as distinguished as holding the WWE Championship…

Despite never holding the top prize, Regal was no stranger to gold in the WWE, having been a champion on 15 different occasions although he is, in my opinion, criminally underrated.

With all of the skills necessary to have a run as the face of the company, Regal’s situation is likely similar to that of Jake “The Snake” Roberts or Scott Hall, where the wrestler’s personal problems prevented the company from being able to fully commit.

    4. Owen Hart

Screen shot 2014-03-09 at 7.12.27 PM

Bret Hart called himself “The Best There Is, The Best There Was, and The Best There Ever Will Be.” One man who could always match him step-for-step in the ring, however, was his little brother Owen.

The so-called “Black Hart,” Owen was one of the best in-ring technicians of his generation, was great on the microphone, and was surprisingly hilarious when guesting as a color commentator (e.g., 1996 King of the Ring).

As we all know, his life was tragically cut short before ever reaching the pinnacle of sports entertainment, but I think most will agree he would have carried the strap well had he been granted the opportunity.

    3. Roddy Piper

    roddy-piper

“The Hot Rod” revolutionized the role of the heel during the 1980s. I mean, who else had the balls to break a coconut over Jimmy Snuka’s head?

His uncouth tactics and lack of respect for those around him would be an inspiration for those who followed, including Steve Austin and CM Punk.

As one of the most recognizable superstars of his era, it seems hard to believe that Piper never got a run as champ, but he was at a disadvantage by wrestling in an era where faces almost always came out on top.

Photo: Jerry Lawler Referees At WWE Live Event, Change To NXT Title Belt

    5

    – Following Adrian Neville’s NXT World Championship victory at the “Arrival” live special on the WWE Network, the company made some slight modifications to the belt. Instead of the traditional WWE logo on the side-plates, the side-plates on the belt now feature the WWE Network logo.

    – WWE’s official Twitter account tweeted out the following photo of Tennessee’s own Jerry “The King” Lawler working as a special guest referee at this past weekend’s WWE live event in Jackson:

TNA Lockdown Attendance, MVP Note, Bobby Lashley Comments On TNA Return

    6

    – According to reports, there were only approximately 900 tickets sold for Sunday’s TNA Lockdown pay-per-view in Miami, Florida. As has been the case for several of TNA’s recent poorly-attended events, there have been a number of photos circulating on the internet to emphasize how bad the attendance was for the show.

    – Speaking of last night’s Lockdown show, Bobby Lashley tweeted the following brief comment after making his surprise return:

TNA also posted a new “#IMPACT365” video interview with Lashley backstage after his appearance:

    – Finally, MVP posted the following tweet on his official Twitter account after winning the “Lethal Lockdown” main event in his hometown:

  • Bobby Lashley Returns To TNA, Bully Ray Face Turn?, Willow/Abyss At Lockdown

    2

    – For those who missed the TNA Lockdown pay-per-view on Sunday night, Bobby Lashley made his return during the show. Lashley came out to answer the open challenge issued by Ethan Carter III.

    – Also of note at the TNA Lockdown pay-per-view, former World Champion Bully Ray came out as Dixie Carter’s “insurance policy” and served as the special referee for the Lethal Lockdown match. Ray ended up turning on Dixie and power bombing Bobby Roode, helping Team MVP secure the victory and control of the company.

    – Abyss made his return during the TNA World Heavyweight Championship match on the show between Magnus and Samoa Joe. Abyss came up from underneath the ring, pulled Samoa Joe down, and ended up attacking him with “Janice,” which allowed Magnus to secure the victory and retain the title.

    – Finally, Jeff Hardy made his return during the show, also in the Lethal Lockdown main event. Hardy returned as his childhood alter-ego, “Willow.”

  • Jim Ross Blog: Plans For WWE HOF Ceremony, Tonight’s RAW, TNA Lockdown

    1

The following are highlights of the latest online blog by WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross:

On this week’s Ross Report podcast: “This week the Ross Report podcast has 2013 WWE Hall of Fame inductee Trish Stratus as my guest in one of the most compelling and informative interviews we’ve had. She tells it like it is from a female’s perspective. Honest, candid content from Canada’s greatest export. The new podcast will drop late this Tuesday or by Wednesday at the very latest.”

On his plans for the WWE Hall Of Fame ceremony: “Even though I have no plans on attending the WWE HOF Induction Ceremony at this time due to other obligations, there’s no way that I’m going to miss it on the WWE Network of which I enjoy every day. Warrior is a highly intelligent person with unique perspectives on a variety of things and his acceptance speech should be truly unique and intriguing.”

“Jake Roberts will have a blow away acceptance speech too. Anxious to see who inducts all these deserving folks.”

On the TNA Lockdown PPV on Sunday night: “Thought TNA Lockdown was a better than many TNA PPV’s I’ve watched and was an average presentation in my eyes. I am not a fan of every match being a cage match. I’m not indicting anyone but making every match a cage match puts immense, creative pressure on the talent and there is too much ‘sameness.'”

“James Storm, Bobby Roode, Samoa Joe, Bully Ray, and Gail Kim are ‘players’ without question while others in TNA have the opportunity to be as well if they force themselves to continue to change/evolve and not to be comfortable in their current presentations.”

“Gail Kim is arguably the best female wrestler in the business.”

“As I have said, I hope ALL wrestling organizations are successful because the more talent that’s earning a good living in the biz the better for all involved.”

“I do think that the ‘evil administration’ story line served its purpose long ago within TNA. I find it hard to ‘dislike’ the Dixie Carter TV persona.”

On tonight’s RAW: “RAW emanates from Memphis tonight and one has to be curious to see if Jerry Lawler survives RAW in his hometown or if he’s used to generate ‘heat’ by some up and coming TV Wrestling villain. I hear that some folks don’t fare so well in their home towns on RAW. :) Good luck, King!”

The following are highlights of a new interview with former WWE Superstar Oscar, who was part of the “Men On A Mission” tag-team that featured the late Nelson Frazier Jr.:

On Nelson Frazier Jr.’s passing: “For those that don’t know the details: Big Daddy V was getting out of his bathtub and he was feeling really hot. Buff Bagwell Says CM Punk Is Too Small To Be Champion, Talks Cena, TNA’s Future

    44

The following are highlights of a recent interview with former WCW star Buff Bagwell:

On John Cena: “I don’t think he’s a Rock, I don’t think he is a Sting, I don’t think he is a Goldberg, I don’t think he is a Stone Cold. But i think he’s bigger than a Buff Bagwell. I really do. Now mainly because of the way they’ve pushed him i give him credit than being bigger than me. When you lay out the facts, no he’s not as big as The Rock, no he’s not as big as Stone Cold, no he’s not as big as these other guys i’m talking about. Then again, you give me the same push i think i would be just as big as John Cena. He’s not that cornerstone guy. He’s not that super mega superstar that The Rock has become. He’s not that super mega superstar Stone Cold had become. He’s just WWE’s number one guy and with a little bit of help, a lot of guys could be that guy. He’s just got the look, he’s got the ability, and he was at the right place at the right time to be their poster child.”

On CM Punk: “He’s too small. That’s why they kept him and The Rock as far apart as they could until they had to wrestle because when you really stand Rock against CM Punk in the ring. They just don’t look like it fits. You’ve got a 260 pound guy in The Rock down to a buck 80-85 CM Punk. Nothing against being a buck 85 but you know TNA’s got a division called the X Division for guys like that. I think that’s a good thing to have, but as far as being the World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk should not be. He’s not big enough, he don’t look the part. He’s heard, i bet if you ask him and he told the truth, he’s heard a million times wow you’re not as big as i thought you were. That’s not good for Pro Wrestling. You’ve gotta be big you know? to make it believable, to make it more realistic. I don’t think he’s that. He just doesn’t carry that kind of power.”

On whether or not he thinks anything can save TNA: “No, I don’t think there is. That’s why i’m not mad they didn’t hire me. Hiring Buff Bagwell isn’t going to save TNA. Hiring The Rock isn’t going to save TNA. So why put out a couple more hundred grand a year when it’s not going to save the company. I understand their position but i still don’t understand keeping the show on television. Either shut it down or do hire a Buff Bagwell that may switch the channels a little more, may make something happen. It may make somebody want to come over. Then you got The Rock and Buff Bagwell, maybe a Goldberg on TNA. Now you’ve got some heavy players. You just can’t have match after match people going who’s this guy here? what’s that guys name? You gotta have name value and they don’t.”

“They (TNA) were at the Gwinett Center here about 6 months ago, and i just drove up there and walked in. They just ate me up and oh god you look great, looks like you haven’t aged a bit, you know all this stuff. Me and Eric did text back and forth and all of sudden guys started getting fired, it was the same ol story, TNA’s going under and it was over again. I just can’t imagine being in the wrestling business you’ve got Buff Bagwell living in Atlanta, you’re running a Gwinett show which is 20 minutes from my house. Why would you not have Buff Bagwell come in and get beat? Put me on TV, beat me, but why not put me on TV? People know me better than they know other guy they’re beating. So why not get a better rating and beat me. I’m not asking to win, I’m asking to be part of the show and help them build a product.”
