Jake Roberts Talks 2014 Royal Rumble, His Dream Opponent, DDP Yoga & More

3

WWE legend Jake “The Snake” Roberts recently appeared on Wrestling Heels Radio. Here are some highlights:

Possibly returning at the 2014 Royal Rumble:“That’s my dream. That’s my dream. That’s nothing they’ve said. I’ve been wanting to go back, man. Whenever I started losing the weight, whenever I started seeing the world again, whenever I started seeing progress in myself, when I seen – when I started dreaming again, man, dreaming of not so much getting back to the ring, at first. The dreams at first were taking awalk. I went and actually walked up Stone Mountain, man, few months ago, and I could not do that years ago even when, you know, I was in wrestling form, you know? It was a very tough experience.”

Who he’d like to face in WWE:“I would wrestle Shane McMahon. I think I’d enjoy that, and I think it would be a match he could be proud of and that I could be proud of. There’s lots of other guys – a few other guys. I say lots, but there’s a few other guys I wouldn’t mind being in the ring with. I think I could do something spectacular with [John] Cena, but here’s the thing. I could do something spectacular with anybody ’cause Jake the Snake did that. I’ve proven that.”

CM Punk’s promos:“Well, he’s trying to slow it down, but he doesn’t get it yet. You know what, man? Here’s the thing. We’ll just throw this out here. WWE, Jake the Snake calling. I have a proposition, okay? Here’s my proposition. You give me five weeks. Give me an hour a week with five guys, and I will significantly change not only them but I will change the look of Raw, in five weeks. I will do it by simply talking to them, by sitting them underneath the learning tree if you will and just casting it out there, letting them absorb what I give and I won’t exactly remember everything I tell them that they’ll get enough to change your product significantly. Trust me. Ta da.”

DDP Yoga:“It’s incredible, Bro. It is just incredible. I mean all the years I spent in gyms and, believe it or not, I did work out. I mean, there was a lot of sacrificing going to gyms. There’s a lot of pain in trying to do too much weight ’cause you think that’s going to make you bigger. No, it’s going to – it might make you bigger for a short time until your injuries start to come up through it, but all those years, I was doing that stuff to my body and I didn’t have a clue as to what I was doing, man.

“Back then, a workout you went inthe gymand you pushed as hard as you could with as much as you could, and, of course, you supplemented that with powders and pills and steroids. You do get bigger, but at the same time, you’re tearing your body apart, you know. See, god didn’t make us to carry 300 pounds on are back. It’s just been recently, in the last several years, that people have gotten into core strength, and that’s the most important part, man. I mean, it was such idiots not to have learned it sooner because, I mean, the biggest part of your body is the trunk of your body, your chest and your waist and your abs.

“That’s the biggest part, and if you start building power there, that feeds out into your arms and your legs, whereas before we’re out there just trying to make our arms bigger. So I’ll just move that. We’re not doing anything for our core strength, and our core strength is where the power comes from. So if you don’t build your power plan, you’re just wasting time, and it’s really – it aggravates me and chaps my ass. Thisworkoutis so much easier and you get twice the results It’s incredible. It’s not – you don’t have to make it impossible. My mother, she’s in a rest home. I’m trying to get her doing it because you can actually do it from a wheelchair. The upper-body stuff she could do, and working with the dynamic resistance, that’s the whole key, man.

“You make your body work against itself. So you’re not going to do too much because, you know, you can try as hard as you want. You can’t overdo it unless you start doing all these extreme things. So you start out slow and you build. There’sworkoutsthere to fit every need, and there’s DVDs. There’s workouts there to fit, the psycho, could go for an hour and a half and then there’s workouts that works specifically, maybe, on your waist or whatever, that go 10, 15 minutes. And the results are just unbelievable. He never started this program thinking aboutweight loss. That wasn’t his – that wasn’t his directive. He wanted to do something to help with the injuries and to help with the core strength. Well, he did it, man, but then he goes into this eating plan and he won’t let you call it a diet because you’re not dieting. You’re getting much healthier, you know? First three letter of diet is die. No, man. We’re not dying.”

Curtis Axel Picks Up Another Count-Out Win, Bellas Attend Special Olympics & More

5

– Curtis Axel continued his streak of winning his matches via count out, defeating Sheamus over the weekend at a WWE Live Event.

“I was bullied when I was a little kid, so I try to teach kids that if they are being bullied, they need to come forward. Lots of times, kids who are being bullied feel ashamed. They think it’s a problem with them, when it’s actually a problem with the bully.”

– WWE Divas the Bella Twins were among the WWE talents in attendance at the Connecticut Special Olympics over the weekend, handing out awards to athletes. They tweeted:

– Sheamus will be appearing at the Adventureland store in Voorhees Township, New Jersey on July 13th from 12pm until 2pm.

– Mark Henry broke his silence on Twitter last night to address rumors that he is retiring soon:

It’s best to be away till I’m right I feel I my hurt someone or do damage to my family by going to jail.tired of holding back. I will return when I’m healthy, not because the roster is thin. Michael Cole Blogs About WWE Payback, Losing Weight & More

3

WWE announcer Michael Cole has updated his blog, which you can read in its entirety at LayfieldReport.com. Here are some highlights of what Cole said about:

Traveling to Bermuda: A little more than 3 weeks away from the visit to bermuda for my wife and I. We are hoping to meet some of these young men from the rugby program. John and I are gearing up for the WORLD CUP MARLIN FISHING CHAMPIONSHIP on July 4th. Organizers claim registration is at its highest ever! This one day, worldwide event, will feature boats fishing in marlin hotspots around the globe. Lines go in the water at 8:30am in whatever time zone your are in and must be out by 4:30pm. Our team will be aboard the Paradise One, with the same crew that led john to a second place finish last year!

Losing Weight: Our weight loss challenge has three weeks remaining! I have one pound to lose and John has nine to shed. I have dropped 19 pounds to 205. But I don’t plan on stopping. I need to be in peak shape for our climb in 9 weeks of Middle Palisades Mountain in California. Where as John has climbed top peaks before, Frenchy (our audio guy for our radio show and WWE events) and I have never traversed a 14?er! (14,050 feet to be exact). I hope to lose another 20 pounds before the climb, but success will all be determined on how we handle the altitude and how our body responds to the thin air (it’s hard to train for altitude at sea level in McAllen). If we conquer this peak, more are definitely in our future (or my wife will be upset if all the gear I just bought joins all my other stuff in my “hobby” or “phase” room).

WWE Payback: I am getting excited for our brand new Pay per View known as “Payback” in the great wresting town of Chicago on Sunday Night June 16th. The All State Arena is one of the best venues we play. The WWE Championship match of John Cena versus Ryback in a 3 stages of Hell match will be intriguing, especially the way Ryback is coming around as a performer. My personal favorite however will be Chris Jericho versus CM Punk and I expect it to be the match of the night. Two of the all-time greats with such an awesome story to tell. Punk returning to the ring in his hometown for his first match since the incredible bout with the Undertaker at Wrestlemania. Jericho with a score to settle with Punk after last year’s great rivalry. This is going to be so great and I have the absolute honor and privilege to sit at ringside and call all the action. It is the opportunity to call bouts like these that we bust our rear ends all year!

Punk & Lita Attend NHL Playoff Game, Former Developmental Star Trashes WWE

13

– Former WWE developmental wrestler wrestler Derek Foore, who was released last November, is threatening to sell his WWE contract, which he says exposes how the company exploits its talent worse than a pimp:

“Who’s interested in buying a copy of my #wwe contract? #sharing is caring. #Bombsaway @WWENXT. The contract includes authentic signatures from John Laurinaitis and HHH (Paul Levesque) along with salary, wellness policy, ETC… #wwe. This #wwe contract is better than a tell all book about the #wwe. It shows how it #exploits the wrestlers worse than a pimp! #Bombsaway”

– CM Punk and Lita attended a recent Chicago Blackhawks vs. LA Kings hockey game and can be seen in the photo below wearing Blackhawks jerseys. CM Punk returns to WWE this Sunday night when Payback takes place from his hometown of Chicago.

Jim Ross Blogs About The Weekend’s WWE Tryout Camp

0

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has updated his blog, which you can read in its entirety at JRsBarBQ.com. In this installment, Ross talks about this past weekend’s WWE tryout camp.

15 men took part in the camp on Friday and Saturday, with two 3-hour sessions taking place on each day. This camp was primarily made up of amateur wrestlers that included several, multi time All Americans, a Commonwealth Games Gold Medalist, a Pan American Games Gold Medalist, college football players, and an active United States Navy Seal.

Jim Ross wrote about them:

This was the best conditioned group of athletes that we’ve ever tried out and I’m fairly certain that WWE will offer multiple contracts to those that graded out the highest. I was hoping going in that we might be able to pick up two or so signees out of the 15 attending but that number could easily be doubled.

Several of the athletes also have college degrees ranging from sports management to finance to accounting which was impressive. Smart, focused, athletes who come from a structured environment and have been in a competitive environment for years adds to the developmental process.

The key will be can they learn to entertain at the same level that matches their athletic skills and intensity? For that answer, only time will tell.

The men who are offered WWE developmental deals will report to the new Performance Center in Orlando next month.

AJ Styles Involved In Altercation With A Fan, Future Of Aries & Roode’s Team

4

– Based on what we saw on last week’s episode of Impact Wrestling, it appears TNA is dissolving the tag team of Austin Aries and Bobby Roode. The former tag team champions suffered back-to-back losses at Slammiversary and this past week’s Impact and have been wrestling singles matches at TNA live events. Both men will be competing independently in the TNA Bound For Glory series, which culminates at October’s Bound For Glory pay-per-view.

– TNA star AJ Styles was involved in an altercation with a fan at this past weekend’s TNA live event from Aiken, South Carolina, according to a report at PWTorch.com.

While approaching the ring, Styles was heckled by a fan. AJ grabbed a steel chair and got in the fan’s face, telling him to come over the guard rail and fight him. After the exchange, Styles briefly went back into the ring, only to exit and continue jarring with the fan. Styles continued encouraging the fan to head to the back with him where they could fight, but the fan ultimately backed down.

Styles would then go on to defeat Bobby Roode using his new Calf Killer submission hold.

Randy Orton Talks About His Future In Wrestling & Working With Hulk Hogan

4

Randy Orton was recently interviewed by Brian Soscia of Beneaththemat.com to promote his new WWE Studios movie “12 Rounds: Reloaded” and spoke about his future in wrestling and working with Hulk Hogan early in his career. Here are some highlights:

His future in wrestling and how long he will be around:

“I think the tank is still pretty much full. What I try to do is every couple months take a weekend off. Sometimes with us times flies by and before you know it you haven’t a day off, a good nights sleep in a long time. Your body needs that. Your mind needs that. When you got a family you have to find a week here and there throughout the year where you can just hang up your boots and be a dad, be a husband, and not travel around the world being a WWE Superstar. Everybody needs that.”

Working with Hulk Hogan:

“It was great, it was magical with him, guys that are over like that. If you get teh chance in there with someone that well known, even though I think he had a hard time moving around, it didn’t matter.”

Randy Orton Says He’s Not WWE For Life, AJ Lee Talks About Being A “Diva”

30

– WWE Sueprstar Randy Orton recently was recently interviewed by Comcast and gave some interesting insight on his future as a WWE Superstar:

“I wouldn’t say I’m WWE for life, I’d say my near future will consist of me primarily being in the ring,” Orton said. “Wrestling is my first love. The movie was fun, but the schedule was grueling because I had to fly off on my off days to film. Eight weeks went by and I had three days off. If I do the movie thing, I’ll be sure that I’m only doing the movie so I can concentrate on it. (Laughs) I think I’d be more sane that way.”

– WWE Diva AJ Lee was recently interviewed by FayObserver.com to promote one of this weekend’s WWE Live Events. One of the more newsworthy quotes came when she was asked about how much of a “diva” she is in real life:

“Diva is a funny word because the connotation isn’t the greatest,” Lee said. “For me, it means being smart, sexy and powerful. It’s my goal to redefine the word. I’m in the WWE, but right now I’m at home on my couch watching Arrested Development. I work out and hang out with my dog and play video games. I’m not the diva archetype; I’m 115 pounds with no curves. I’m the ‘homely diva,’ but I’m proud to be so different and to be a face of the WWE.”

Bob Holly Talks About Vince McMahon’s Pet Projects, CM Punk & More

13
Former WWE Superstar Bob “Hardcore” Holly recently spoke to WrestlingHeels Radio about WWE, the Brock Lesnar injury, Triple H and NASCAR. Here are some highlights from the interview:
Fandango and being Vince’s pet project:
“If you’re Vince’s pet project, you pretty much – you’re a shoe-in there. And all you got to do is just listen to him and do what he asks of you, and you’ll have it made because he’ll make sure that you get over. He will. Just do what he says. And listen to him. And you will get over. So yeah, if he’s got Vince behind him like that, that guy’s got it made.
“And another thing I love about what he [Fandango] does too is the way he gets in the ring. After he makes his entrance, watch the way he gets in the ring. He does that. Nobody’s ever done it that way. And to me, that’s different, and I like that. But yeah if he’s Vince’s pet project, the guy’s got it made. He just has to make sure he listens to him and doesn’t get the attitude well, I’m gonna do what I want to do, despite of what he says. Because then that’ll be the demise of him. Which hopefully – I think he’s smart enough and he knows who to listen to. So I wish the guy all the best. I really do. I really do.”
CM Punk’s backstage demeanor:
“To me, he seemed like he was happy. He really did. it’s hard to tell. He wasn’t one to complain at all. You’d never hear him complain. So you wouldn’t know if something was wrong. I mean, I talked to him. We talked all the time in the locker room, just talking about anything, in general.
“And one thing I will say – and I have a ton of respect for Punk. I really do. And he was always happy for me whenever they would start doing something for me. ‘Cause he always said you deserve it, and stuff like that. And he was one of the guys who always told me he was happy for me whenever anything good would come along for me. And that meant a lot to me.
“And I’ve always had tons of respect for him. And especially after I started working with him because here’s a guy that he brings it. He will bring it to you. And I respect that out of him because whatever I did to him, he did back to me. And I really enjoyed that. That’s what I like out of guys that’ll bring it. And I always enjoyed working with him.
” The first time I worked with him, it was kind of – we had kind of a different style. But after we started working a couple times, I really enjoyed working with the guy. I really, really did. But he was always very kind. Always very kind in the locker room. And anywhere you’d go and talk to him, he was always really, really nice.”

Daniel Bryan Talks About His Recent Success In WWE

10

WWE Superstar Daniel Bryan attended the Philadelphia Comic Con last weekend and spoke to John Corrigan of The Temple NewsHere are some highlights of what he said about:

His Recent Success in WWE:

“When I go to Target and see my own action figure, it makes me feel stupid because I’m not doing anything different than I was before. It’s just that I’m on TV … I’ve wrestled in front of less people than this in a room smaller than this and when I walked out, instead of people chanting ‘yes,’ they just stared at me in apathy,”

ROH Alum Nigel McGuiness:

“…my favorite ROH rivalry was with Nigel McGuinness. Nigel was signed at the same time as me, but he had some shoulder and elbow stuff that didn’t clear WWE’s medical testing and now he’s out of the business altogether. It’s a loss because he’s great on interviews, in the ring, and really just a fun guy to be around.”

Chris Sabin Talks About Returning To TNA, Doctors Telling Him To Retire & More

4

TNA wrestler Chris Sabin interview
Host: Ryan Rider
Interview conducted for CJAD.com

Sabin on his return: “I’m just happy to be back. It was really intriguing to sit at home injured and see Austin Aries make that rule that you can trade in the X Division Title for a world title shot. That gave me a lot of motivation.”

Whether he fears getting injured again: “There’s always that voice in the back of your mind. I wasn’t expecting to get injured the first time or the second time. I’m going to try to ignore that voice in my head that says ‘what if?’. You just kind of have to do whatever you can and bury that voice in your head. I gotta watch out for my health. I’ll always try to do the best I can to put on the most entertaining match for the fans but first and foremost, I gotta protect myself.”

Doctors telling him to quit: “A lot of people didn’t want me to wrestle anymore. For an athlete, two ACL surgeries is a pretty big deal. I tried to keep as much athletic ability and train as hard as I could to get back to the level I was at before.”

Growing up in TNA from March 2003 to today: “Literally, I spent a third of my life in TNA. When I first started for the company it was so small, we were just doing Nashville and weekly PPVs. The company has grown and grown and grown. I like to reflect that, and hopefully I’ve grown as a person and as a wrestler. I plan on continuing to become a better wrestler.”

Aspirations to be TNA World Champion: “When your dream is to become a wrestler and it’s taken away for two years with two knee surgeries, you sit at home and reflect. You think about things, think about your life. I didn’t do this to go half way; I did this to go all the way. I did this to become the best. And that will always remain my goal.”
