Bret Hart Urges AJ Styles To Leave “Bush League” TNA & Says Hogan & Bischoff Are Killing The Company

49

WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart made a recent appearance on the UK’s WrestleTalkTV Extra radio show and continued to be very outspoken with his opinions about the current state of the wrestling industry. In particular, Hart had some very harsh words for TNA, Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff – and gave some career advice to AJ Styles:

Hogan & Bischoff Killing TNA: “They’re going nowhere, if anything they’re gonna lose a lot of ground. They’re spending a fortune on a guy who’s worthless. And Bischoff’s as worthless as Hogan, the two of them have zero to offer the business. The only thing Hulk Hogan ever knew was how to make Hulk Hogan. He couldn’t tell you how to make AJ Styles or Samoa Joe. What’s Hulk Hogan going to tell Samoa Joe? He doesn’t know anything to even tell him, he’s got zero to offer.”

TNA Salvaging WCW’s “Trash”: “Bischoff knows nothing, he’s an idiot, Vince Russo was a magazine writer that thought he was a wrestling expert that never had a good idea in his life, and Hogan was pretty limited, all he knew how to do was [cup his ear] and do the leg-drop.”

AJ Styles Needing To Leave “Bush-League” TNA: “AJ Styles is a good a wrestler as anyone in the world, he’s really good, he should really be in WWE because he’s spinning his tires in TNA. It’s a shame because WWE’s the big stage. I look at Chris Benoit when he went to WWE; he actually cried on the phone he didn’t want to leave WCW, but I remember telling him on the phone you’re never going to get the break you deserve unless you go to WWE…If AJ Styles really wants to make it he needs to dump that bush-league and get to the big time…I just hope that AJ Styles doesn’t waste his life in TNA.”

Here’s video of the appearance:

The Miz Talks WrestleMania 29, The Marine 3, Being An Ambassador For WWE

2

The superstar The Miz recently spoke to LocalBozo.com to promote his new WWE Studios release “The Marine 3: Homefront” and the upcoming WrestleMania 29 pay-per-view. Here are some highlights of what The Miz said, followed by audio of the full interview:

Getting Cast In The Marine & How It Compared To Performing Live In Front Of WWE Crowds:

Well you know, coming into The Marine 3: Homefront, I wanted to really show everyone- I didn’t want people to look at the movie and go “Oh that’s The Miz” or “Oh that’s Mike from ‘The Real World’” or “That’s a WWE Superstar.” I wanted them to go “Oh wait, this is something new, this is something different.” So to get ready for this role, I kind of looked at some old school action stars like “The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly” with Clint Eastwood and “Dirty Harry.” Watching him perform in these kinds of roles, he didn’t say much, but when he did, you were intrigued and he was a show stealer just when he walked in here- just his aura. And then also, I looked to Paul Newman in “Cool Hand Luke,” and how just cool and natural and relaxed he was. And then watching the “Die Hards” with John McClain and the action and the real kind of setting- he’s just like an every guy. And so I wanted to bring that to “The Marine 3: Homefront.” I wanted people to go ‘Wow this is real. It’s gritty. It’s dark.” And hopefully with the success of 1 and 2, I’m hoping to continue it and hopefully exceed it.

The Responsibility Of Being A WWE Ambassador:

Yeah, you know, any time someone wants me to talk about the company that I work for- whether it be MTV, Bunim-Murray, WWE or WWE Studios or Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment, I always want to talk about it or brag about it if you will because I’m proud of it. There is nothing wrong with being proud of what you do for a living and if people want to be negative about it, that’s going to happen. It happens all the time- no matter what you do or where you’re from there’s always going to be someone that hates on it. And that’s fine because that’s their freedom of speech and everyone’s going to have an opinion but it’s my job to have thick skin and to say you know what? That’s fine, but I love WWE. I’ve loved every opportunity that they’ve given me. It’s been a dream of mine since I was a little kid to do it. And not only that, but MTV and Bunim-Murray have given me the opportunity to- actually open my eyes with The Real World and allow me to realize that I could pursue my dream because I do really believe that I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for The Real World. So I embrace- you know people sometimes say “Oh you gotta forget about the reality in order to be successful in WWE and in movies,” but I say no. I’m gonna embrace every life thing that’s happened to me because without that, I wouldn’t be where I am today and today I am a happy person.

Where He Fits In At WrestleMania:

You know MetLife Stadium, basically our Super Bowl, our NBA Finals, our World Series- only bigger- and I am ecstatic about it. Right now, I’m not sure exactly where I’m standing in the Wrestlemania [card]. I know I’ll be a part of it, but I don’t have a match yet. So I’m looking for anyone who wants to battle this guy because what I plan on doing is- even though the main event is John Cena versus The Rock for the WWE Championship- I feel like what people are going to be talking about after Wrestlemania will be what The Miz did.

Update On Schwarzenegger-Sammartino, Lawler Wanting To Wrestle, Foley On Apprentice

7

– Bruno Sammartino tweeted over the weekend that a WWE-produced documentary on his career might be in the works. Speaking of Sammartino, one of the reasons Triple H was at this past weekend’s Arnold Classic event was to see if he could get Arnold Schwarzenegger to agree to induct Bruno into the WWE Hall of Fame next month. No word yet on whether Arnold agreed, but Bruno tweeted him after the event that he could see him in “NY or LA soon.”

– Following up on the story that Jerry Lawler wants to return to the ring, Lawler was reportedly telling fans at an independent wrestling show over the weekend that he still wants to wrestle again, but has not been cleared by doctors and WWE is against the idea.

– Mick Foley noted on Twitter that he’s finishing a new kids book this week that will feature WWE tag team champions Kane and Daniel Bryan as two of the main characters.

Speaking of Foley, he made a brief cameo on Sunday night’s “The Apprentice: All Stars” season premiere. Foley showed up as a guest of music star Dee Snyder (Twisted Sister) and donated money to Snyder’s team for the first challenge, which was to see which team could raise more money selling meatballs.

Zack Ryder Talks About His Career Being At A Low Point, Reinventing Himself

4

Arda Ocal of the Baltimore Sun recently interviewed WWE Superstar Zack Ryder about a number of topics, including his career being at a low point, his incredible popularity on social media and more. Here are some highlights of what Ryder said about:

The State of His Career: I’m at a low point. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, because there’s only one place to go and that’s up. The Z True Long Island Story paved my career, it re-invented Zack Ryder, but that time has come and gone. Last year, 2011, I ended it as the United States Champion. I had my first WrestleMania match at WrestleMania 28. Now this year at WrestleMania 29, not on the show, not really doing much. That’s why I really need this low point to really fuel me to come up with something new. Maybe it won’t be as big or as phenomenal as Z True Long Island Story, but there will be something that just works and clicks to the audience, something that gets me to that next level. So I don’t think that it’s necessarily a bad thing that I’m at a low point; I just think it’s a little break before I get even higher.

How Far He’d Go To Reinvent His Character: I would do whatever it takes. Do a complete 180, but only if it’s still me deep down inside. I’m not going to go out there and pretend to be someone I’m not. The thing that got me here [is], I like to party, pick up chicks, listen to pop music and sing pop music, but there is also a darker side to Zack Ryder, a more serious side to Zack Ryder. Maybe I’ll have to peel some layers to Zack Ryder and go out there and do something different.

Dolph Ziggler I mean, if there’s anyone who deserves to be on TV more than me, it’s Dolph Ziggler. It’s a shame what’s going on with him right now. He’s had the greatest year possible, winning Money in the Bank, stealing the show night after night. Finally, the fans have recognized him. His shirt sells out, he beat John Cena at TLC and he works hard all year, and now it’s the home stretch to WrestleMania and he’s not even on the show yet. He deserves that shot more than anybody, and I hope in the weeks coming he gets his ‘Mania spot.

Bruno Sammartino: WWE.com quoted Trish recently on Bruno’s induction: “A long time coming, without the presence of Sammartino in the Hall of Fame is like the Hockey Hall of Fame with no Wayne Gretzky.”

Donald Trump: It’s great to see someone of his stature who appreciates our product and just ‘gets it’. I was thrilled to learn we will be inducted into the same class.

Old School Raw: “I expect Monday’s RAW to have ample amounts of ‘surprise’ elements, particularly with some of the returning old school talents and how they are utilized and a definitive feel as to what we can expect to experience at WM29. In addition, thanks to some of the ‘Legends’ in attendance, I would expect to see some, hopefully, timely humor infused into the show. What will be the proverbial water cooler talk regarding #Raw come Tuesday morning?

“Whoever wrestles in the main event of the evening will have huge shoes to fill following last week’s John Cena vs. CM Punk instant classic.”

Triple H vs. Brock Lesnar: “Starting the show off with Mr. McMahon, Paul Heyman, Brock Lesnar and HHH will be hard to top this week but I’m anxious to see how WWE sets the stage for the much anticipated three hour broadcast that will obviously be focused on WM29.”

The Road To WrestleMania: “I always looked at these last few Road to WrestleMania shows like an athlete competing in the playoffs. Nothing but one’s absolute best will do no matter one’s assignment or the segment in which they appear. Every role is important and any one with a “business as usual” mindset needs a heart to heart talk.”

Zack Ryder Talks About His Future In WWE, Not Getting Title Shots, WM29 & More

12

WWE superstar Zack Ryder was recently interviewed by Anthony Sulla-Heffinger of the New York Post. Here are some highlights of what Ryder said about:

Kids Buying His Merchandise: It’s crazy, it doesn’t even make sense to me. I still have all of the wrestling toys that I had as a little kid and to think about those kids going to Toys ‘R’ Us and buying my action figure, it makes you go ‘what?!’ Sometimes I have to take myself out of the moment and look at my life from the outside and say ‘Woah! This is getting cool.’

The Different In-Ring Style of Saturday Morning Slam: Ryder: Luckily for me, I haven’t really had to change my style up too much. I’m sure for guys like Sheamus and guys who are giving big punches to the head, it really affects them. For me, I just do my own thing and I think that works as an advantage. Some guys have change their styles up and they are out of their element or off their game. For me, I’m the same old Zack Ryder so maybe that’s why I am going to go all the way and become the Saturday Morning Slam GM.

WrestleMania 29 Taking Place Near His Hometown: This year there are a lot of mixed emotions. It’s going to be cool that Wrestlemania is back in New York and New Jersey, I went to Wrestlemania X and XX as a fan and last year I had my first Wrestlemania match so it is cool. At the same time I’m not on the show so it’s not cool and I wish it was somewhere else because all of my friends and family are going to be there and I’m not going to be on it so that part stinks. It’s great that such a huge event is going to be at MetLife Stadium, Rock and John Cena the rematch, it’s going to be historic. Whether Zack Ryder is on the card or not, Wrestlemania is going to be the show of the year and maybe the best one yet.

What The Future Holds for Zack Ryder: I’m not really sure. I ended my YouTube show that I have been doing for two years this past January. I think Zack Ryder, the character, needs a little tweaking, it needs a little adjustment. I wouldn’t say a complete 180 turn but a couple of things here and there. I have to sit down and I have to really figure out what needs to be done to get back on top and make sure I don’t miss next year’s Wrestlemania.

Getting Title Shots In WWE: That’s the ultimate goal so I have to be positive and think that those opportunities are in my future. That’s what keeps me going.

Monday’s RAW (Punk vs. Cena, Lesnar-HHH Brawl): The way it ended, that match was a pay-per-view match right there for free on TV. I was watching in the back with a couple of guys and I was on the edge of my seat, was it going to be Punk or was it going to be Cena, was someone going to run in, would it be a straight finish? We were anxious to see who was going to win. It was a great match, the fans were on their feet the whole time. When Cena won, the place exploded and he deserved the win.

Bobby Roode Talks About TNA’s Growth, His Historic Title Reign, Who He Wants To Work With

11

Bobby Roode was recently a guest on the Wrestle Shark radio show with hosts Simon Cassidy and David Thomson. Here are some highlights of what he said about:

His thoughts on the growth of TNA being one of the few remaining “TNA originals”: “Immensely. I mean we have Sting here now, Hulk Hogan, people that have come into this company over the past several years is pretty amazing considering how young our company still is. We’ve grown so much talent wise, television wise, international pay-per-views, our company is only just a little over ten years old and every year we’re getting bigger and bigger. It’s just great to be a part of it all.”

On how he first got started in TNA: “I got a phone call from Scott D’Amore, I believe he was part of the creative process at TNA along with Jeff Jarrett at the last minute to be part of the Team Canada for the X-Cup Tournament in 2004. I flew in, did three pay-per-views and the rest is history. I impressed the people I needed to impress and they sent me home with a contract. I signed it and here we are today: basically I was a last minute replacement.”

Roode’s thoughts on his record setting world title reign for the company: “Starting back when I first broke in in 1998, being the world champion was something I always aspired to be. I think if you don’t want to be the world champion then you’re in the wrong business. I think everyone needs to want to be the best of the best, and in 2012 I was finally able to cash in and win that world championship, and make history with it. It was a great feeling and I look forward to being world champion again.”

Did his world title reign live up to his expectations?: “Absolutely. I got to do all the extra media, I came over to the UK last May, I went to Australia… and of course getting to work main events, competing with all the top guys: the Angles, the Hardy’s, the Stings, on not just TV but Pay-Per-Views and all the live events all around the world, just to carry the load and carry the company on my back. And that’s what the world champions job is: to be able to go out every night and compete at that level and have great matches. I think I was able to live up to that and if I was given the opportunity I think I would be able to do so again. A little experience on my side now. You know, that first run everything is kind of shiny and new. The second time I hope to take what I learned and be that much better.”

His thoughts on how the roster has changed compared to when he first came in: “I think you can compare our roster to anybody in the world. I mean when you look at the guys like Austin Aries and Zema Ion who just came in. Even the guys who are really untapped in their character, like Robbie E., I think we have such depth in our locker room and it’s only going to get better. Once these guys mature and get a little more spotlight…I don’t think anyone in the world can touch our roster.”

On who he would still like to work with: “I would love to get into a program with Kurt Angle, we had the match at Bound for Glory which was kind of a one and done deal which was quickly forgotten about, so I would love to sink my teeth into something creatively with Kurt. Samoa Joe is another guy that we’ve been in this company together for many years and never had a chance to do anything creatively together. We had a chance to fight last year at Manchester for the title and I think we just had great chemistry and could really do something great in the future.”

“Stone Cold” Steve Austin Interview – Paul Heyman’s Role In WWE, Politics In Wrestling & Hollywood, His Future

17

WWE Hall of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin recently joined The Ministry of Slam for an exclusive interview to promote his new movie “The Package” available on DVD and Blu-Ray March 5. Highlights from the interview are as follows:

His most memorable moment of his career: “Man, you’re talking about trying to pick something from close to a 15-year body of work, but one of the most personal highlights for me would be cutting the promo in the basement of a Holiday Inn with ECW back in 1995. A bunch of the ECW guys were there, and I’d watched them cut their promos. Paul E (Heyman) was there too, and he was the guy who gave me that platform to talk, which I did for around 7 minutes. One take, one time and that was it, I put it all on the line.

“For me to finally get that platform to vent and talk about the frustrations I was feeling, as well as where I aspiring to go, I look back on that as a very important part of both my life and career.”

Thoughts on Paul Heyman’s current role in WWE: “I don’t know how many hats he’s wearing while he’s there, but yes. You can talk to a guy till you’re blue in the face, and if anybody can get through to them, it’s Paul. I mean in terms of getting inside a guy or gal’s head, helping them unlock their potential and letting them see things that they didn’t see themselves. He’s very good at doing that. I think probably the most important thing that he can continue to do is remain there, in that ring, and deliver the kind of electric performance that he’s doing.

So, my point is that if the kids could just sit there and watch that guy work, they’re gonna’ soak that knowledge in. As long as WWE keep Paul around for talent to watch him, and pick his brain afterwards or at lunch – I mean, he’s a valuable asset to the company just as a talent anyway – but what can rub off onto those kids is even more valuable if you ask me.

Similarities between backstage politics in wrestling and Hollywood: “I’m a pretty private, streamlined person, so I don’t really go out and get my nose into a bunch of horseshit in Hollywood – playing the games many people like to play. I live in Los Angeles, but that’s where it starts and stops. I dig the weather and it’s easy to take meetings, which is pretty much it!

“When you have the movie industry and then take professional wrestling, basically the entertainment industry, they are just parallel that run right beside each other. One is a little bit bigger than the other; obviously Hollywood and the movies is a bigger street, but make no mistake, the traps, shenanigans and horseshit are exactly the same as wrestling. To me, they mirror each other.”

His future: “I’ve been 7 months out, healing up my ACL and PCL, so I’m waiting till Summer to film my next action movie. We’ve signed a two-picture deal through my company, Broken Skull Ranch Productions with Anchor Bay Entertainment. I’m looking forward to doing those, because I have full creative control and can let the shit really fly.”

“I’ve also got a couple of other reality TV projects I’m working on which will be released in the next couple of months. I love reality television, the atmosphere that it creates is just a bad-ass and fun way to spend time doing something you love to and getting paid for it! I’m also spending more time at my ranch; deer season is over till next year, but I’m kicking ass on my leg, feeling good and getting ready to film season 3 of Redneck Island in April. I’m as busy as I wanna’ be, feeling fortunate and also doing pretty god darn good in terms of my health!”
