More On WWE’s Deal With Post Cereal, WWE’s New Orlando Training Facility

4

– WWE’s new training facility in the Orlando area is currently under construction and is expected to open this fall. The new home of WWE’s developmental program will house five different wrestling rings, which some people have mixed opinions on. While five rings means five times the ring time for the students, some people feel that the noise from five rings will get very loud and make it harder to learn.

– WWE announced earlier this week that John Cena will be appearing on 4 million boxes of Fruity Pebbles and Cocoa Pebbles cereal. The promotion will run through WrestleMania season, with another promotion scheduled for back-to-school season in the late summer.

WWE and Post have signed a multi-year contract that will also see Post products promoted at WWE live events. The deal with Post is seen as one of the benefits of WWE’s commitment to PG-13 programming.

Sharon Pupel, the marketing director at Post Cereal, told Ad Age magazine, “We’ve been talking with kids. Fred isn’t necessarily the …coolest or (most) relevant guy for kids who we are going after.”

Undertaker & Bret Hart’s Status For RAW, RAW Roulette Returning Soon

9

– Bret Hart is among the WWE legends who has been contacted to appear at next week’s RAW 20th Anniversary show from Houston, but is only willing to appear if the creative team has a meaningful role for him.

There was talk backstage at this week’s WWE TV that The Undertaker would also be there, since he’s from Houston and has been such a huge part of RAW’s history. While an appearance from the Undertaker makes sense, there’s another side to it. Since the Dead Man shows up so infrequently, it’s believed that his next television appearance would be to set up his WrestleMania 29 program. If he is wrestling CM Punk at Mania, then it wouldn’t make sense for him to confront CM Punk until after his match with The Rock at the Royal Rumble.

– The January 28th edition of WWE RAW from Las Vegas, Nevada is expected to have a RAW Roulette theme, where match stipulations are decided by spinning a “roulette” wheel.

Beth Phoenix Denies Pregnancy Rumors, Cody Picks WWE’s Five Star Match Of The Week

4

– Today’s wrestling birthdays include WWE Diva Tamina Snuka (35), Brian “Grandmaster Sexay” Lawler (43) and Buff Bagwell (43).

– Former WWE Diva Beth Phoenix is denying rumors that she is pregnant. She tweeted this week:

– Cody Rhodes picked this week’s WWE Classics Five-Star Match of the Week. He selected Ric Flair vs. Kerry Von Erich for the NWA World Heavyweight Title at the WCCW David Von Erich Memorial Parade of Champions event (May 6th, 1984). Here’s what Cody said about the match:

“Fritz Von Erich actually said that David Von Erich himself was really close to being NWA World Heavyweight Champion. David’s untimely death put Kerry Von Erich [in the title picture], but Kerry would’ve become the most popular of the Von Erichs regardless of what happened just off sheer look alone. Nobody looked more like a star than Kerry Von Erich. Arnold Schwarzenegger wouldn’t take a picture with him because of that. What I remember about that match was not just Texas Stadium in Dallas being outdoors and the huge amount of people there. But the end of the match came with a simple backslide. It was a really, really beautiful thing.”

Kharma Talks About Her WWE Character, Her In-Ring Style, Social Media

9

Former WWE Diva Kharma spoke with Wild Talk Radio this week about her WWE character and the promos that led up to her debut, how her wrestling style compares to women’s wrestlers of the 1990’s and social media’s impact on pro wrestling. Here are some highlights of what she said about:

How long after her issues with TNA did she get to WWE and who contacted whom: “It was less than 9 months later, I know that. I was nine months later I got the call and I wasn’t real surprised and I was actually really sick; I had had a cold and strep throat and was really ill. John Laurinaitis had contacted me and I’m sure he thought I was making fun of his because I was talking in the same voice, and I thought ‘Oh great, I’m sure he thinks I’m mocking him and I’m a jerk’ but no, I’m really sick. And just to make sure that it was really John Laurinaitis, I requested that he send me an e-mail because if this is somebody pulling a rib on me, I’m packing my bags and going to wherever they are we are going to throw down. But it was actually Mr. Laurinaitis and things went from there.”

Who Created Her ‘Kharma’ Character & Her Promos: “It was creative’s idea and then, once we got there they let me put some input in on what we can do with it and actually my fiance, he was there and they let him put some input into it. Once we were there, it was like a whole collaborative effort. Actually I have to take back ‘delicious’ cause I bit the Bellas a few times and they weren’t that tasty. So, we didn’t know what it was going to look like afterwards, cause it’s odd when they tell you ‘This is going to be in slow motion, or might be in slow motion’ ; your brain starts to think ‘I have to move in slow motion?’ So, even though they shot it in regular speed, all I hear is go in slow motion.

“I literally sat in that chair from 7 at night until 3 in the morning and I didn’t get up, I didn’t move, I didn’t do nothing because my new gear is made so that it isn’t really that easy to get into; the whole process is I need a team of people to put me in it. So, once I’m in it I’m going to stay in it. So I sat there right there in that chair, from 7 to 3, and didn’t buzz or get up. But it was about fun, and it was so fun that it went by fast.

If She Sees A Similarity Between Her Wrestling Style & Women From The 1990’s: “I do, because I’m from the generation that those are the women that we watched and idolized, you know what I mean? So, I definitely do. You know, when you’re smaller, when you’re younger, these are the people you want to be; these are the people you want to become, these are the people you want to emulate. Going to Japan, I learned to make it my own, but when I’m out there, especially early on in your career, you tend to want to get through the indulgence and indulge yourself in a match or two and do the things you always wanted to do in the ring, and I recommend this to any wrestler, do the things you really want to do in the ring really early on in your career before you get real seasoned. I mean, there’s time where I would get in the ring and do the People’s Eyebrow because it’s something I wanted to do and always saw on TV, but then you start to build your own character and start to be you versus you being someone else. So, it takes time so just know that it takes time before you’re going to become the character or wrestler people will remember you for.”

Social Media’s Impact On Pro Wrestling: “Well, it’s definitely a great tool to have; it’s really a great business tool to have. We are all business people, we are all business owners, you know, having to incorporate ourselves; it’s a great tool to have. But, you have to use it responsibly. You have to be careful with what you post, knowing that everything you post is there for life, forever; no matter if you delete it, it’s going to be out there somewhere, it’ll find a way. And you also have to be vigilant with people that are impersonating; which is why, right now, I’m in the process of validating, verifying, my bad, verifying my Twitter account, so that people know ‘Hey, this is me’ and not some Joe Schmo or Jane Schmane.”

Hardy Boyz Reuniting, Another TNA Departure, Change To TNA Gut Check & More

4

– Matt and Jeff Hardy will be reuniting on January 15th in Durham, NC for the return of their Omega Pro Wrestling promotion. The event is a benefit show for former Omega wrestler Chuck Coates, who is battling cancer. The Hardy Boyz are teaming up with James Storm & Shane Helms to face Steve Corino, C.W. Anderson, Lodi & Gunner in the main event.

– TNA has announced a format change to the TNA Gut Check segments that air on Impact Wrestling. Previously, the Gut Check contestant would wrestle a member of the TNA roster in an attempt to impress the judges. Starting this Thursday, two Gut Check contestants will wrestle each other – with both of them being evaluated by Al Snow, Taz and Bruce Prichard.

– “Suspended” TNA star Bully Ray is asking fans if he should crash tomorrow night’s Impact broadcast.

– Rosita is the latest TNA talent expected to be gone from the company after her contract was not renewed by the company this past week.

Eve Torres Interview: Favorite Title Reign, Inspiration For Her Character, Divas Search Competition

2

Raj Giri of WrestlingINC.com recently spoke with WWE Divas Champion Eve Torres, who discussed her wrestling career, being the head instructor for the Gracie Women Empowered Self-Defense Program and more. Here are some highlights:

Her favorite title reign: I’d probably have to say that it was this current title reign right now, for sure. I think every time you win the title, it means more. You think that the first time that it means the most, but it really doesn’t. I think the first time that you win the title — you just don’t know how to make the most out of your title reign until you’ve had one and then you’ve lost it. Once you lose something, you know how much more it means to you.

So, third times a charm for me. Obviously, I’ve taken a bit of a turn in terms of my character and I’ve had a lot of fun with that with this title reign.

Inspirations for her character: I’m having a lot of fun with it. I draw from personal experiences, I think I’ve known real terrible people in my life. [Laughs.] I hate to say it, but everyone has experiences with people that you just can’t stand or have certain characteristics that just irk you, and it really serves for good ammunition with these kind of characters.

You have to create your own character and you can base it off of either people you know or previous characters that have done similar things. But, it also has to feel real to you. It has to feel like something that is believable in your own mind in terms of the character you would play. So, I’ve really had a fun time finding out
who she is with the help of obviously Vince, Hunter and some of the other divas as well.

If the Divas Search would work today: Absolutely. I think the Diva Search was a great way to find women who might have been intimidated to get into the WWE world on their own. It’s kind of a way to say ‘Oh, let’s just try it out,’ without too much commitment in the beginning and just feeling it out and seeing if WWE likes them.

As somebody that has the look or the marketability or whatever that they’re looking for, that sparkle that they’re trying to find in the divas.

Eve also revealed that another Divas search may be underway, discussed her engagement to Rener Gracie and named here past and present dream opponents.

Ric Flair Scheduled to Confront CM Punk Next Week On RAW

44

Next week’s 20th Anniversary edition of RAW is shaping up to be a big one, with several surprise appearances planned by former WWE superstars.

F4wonline.com is reporting that WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair is scheduled to appear on the show and the current plan is for him to confront WWE Champion CM Punk.

WWE legends rumored for next week’s RAW from Houston, Texas include the Undertaker, Shawn Michaels and Steve Austin. It’s also expected that WWE will announce the first member of the Hall of Fame’s Class of 2013.

RAW’s 20th Anniversary special will be the first time WWE is not head-to-head with football on a Monday night in several months. Christopher Daniels Talks About The X Division Evolving, Wanting To Be World Champion, Retirement Rumors

11

TNA star Christopher Daniels was recently interviewed by Scottland’s Big WrestleShark Show Here are some highlights of what Daniels said about:

The X-Division Evolving: “I think it’s a testament to the guys who have come through. I think the guys that were most successful were the guys like myself who had worked around the world and were given themselves the opportunity to showcase and hone their talents. The first name that comes to mind is obviously AJ [Styles], he had opportunity to travel the world and hone his craft before TNA came around. The same thing with Samoa Joe, he had traveled Japan and worked extensively and very hard on the independent scene. He had had his Ring of Honor career, and by the time he came to TNA, he was ready to show the world who he was and he stood out… As the years progress, TNA knew they had something good with the X-Division, then they started building their tag and heavyweight division, and it became one of many good divisions as opposed to the ‘stand out’ division. It goes through waves, there are times when there are a plethora of talent and times when it takes a backseat. But I think with the current crop of talent — guys like Zema Ion, Sanjay Dutt, Kidd Kash — I feel like there are so many good guys there now. So many guys that can kick it up a notch and go in the X-Division, but are still viewed as major players overall.”

Wanting To Be TNA World Champion: “Anyone who is not trying to be the world champion is wasting their time. It’s always been a goal of mine, and honestly right now I feel like I’m as close to the world title as I have ever been. The company has a good confidence in me, to give me opportunities and I feel like I’ve shown the world I can play at the top level. I feel like I’ve shown the world I’m ready to be the top guy and be a major player. It’s just a matter of waiting to see if I get given that opportunity, your guess is as good as mine, but at the moment I’m feeling positive and just waiting for that opportunity.”

Rumors That He Is Retiring: “I don’t know where that started, I’m not looking to retire any time soon. Right now I feel I’m doing the best work of my career. My first goal was to get to 20 years, and in one month that will be the case. I’ve always said the minute it stops being fun I’ll stop. But I’m still having fun, I’m still doing what I love, I’m working with great guys, I’m in good condition, I’ve been lucky to have had very few injuries over my career. I’m not looking to hang the boots up anytime soon.”

El Generico Signs With WWE: More Indy Talent On The Way

42

It was reported last night by PWPonderings.com that independent wrestler El Generico was signed by WWE. The news has now been confirmed by multiple sources.

Generico has been pulled from this weekend’s Pro Wrestling Guerrilla event in California and could very well have wrestled his last match on the independent scene.

PWInsider is reporting that WWE signing El Generico is part of a broader company strategy to sign several of top independent workers. Specifically, WWE’s head of Talent Relations, Triple H, has “a number of names” on his radar. WWE will be actively perusing top independent talent in the coming months.

Plans For RAW Staying 3 Hours, Jericho On Nerdist Podcast, Miz Interview

Paul Heyman has responded to WWE Hall of Famer “Superstar” Billy Graham’s rant about WWE Champion CM Punk.

Graham took offense to Punk’s most recent “Pipe Bomb” promo on RAW, where he insulted WWE legend Bruno Sammartino by saying that Sammartino is only regarded as one of the best ever because he wrestled once a month and never had to wrestle TLC matches or be on the road as much as Punk is. Heyman tweeted early Wednesday morning:

Monday’s RAW Draws Strong Viewership Against BCS Game

40

Viewership data is in for Monday’s live WWE RAW and despite stiff competition from the college football BCS National Championship game on ESPN, RAW rang in 2013 with a very strong showing.

Monday’s WWE RAW featuring the return of The Rock and CM Punk vs. Ryback in a TLC match drew 4.42 million viewers. This is up a sharp 900,000 viewers from the previous week’s (taped) New Year’s Eve broadcast, making it the most-watched RAW since August 27th.

Hourly viewership was as follows:

Hour 1: 4,290,000
Hour 2: 4,320,000
Hour 3: 4,650,000

As you can see, RAW finally broke the streak of losing viewers in the third hour of the show. What’s even more impressive is that the BCS National Championship game drew a staggering 26.38 million viewers.

Superstar Billy Graham Calls Out CM Punk For His Comments On RAW

60

WWE Hall of Famer Superstar Billy Graham is upset with WWE Champion CM Punk for his promo on Monday’s RAW from Tampa.

VIEW HERE: CM PUNK’s Latest PIPE BOMB Promo From Monday’s RAW

Graham posted the following on his Facebook:

IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR CM PUNK

I watch the last hour of WWE Raw last night. It was the worst excuse for a show I have ever seen! My agent Scott is tight with legendary World Champion Bruno Sammartino. Scott has told me that WWE has been calling Brunno regularly begging him to go into the Hall of Fame. Bruno has been polite but has always said no thank you.

Tonight on RAW for the last 45 minutes of the show all they did was have CM PUNK talk, talk and more talk! The killer line came when Vince had Punk putting over his 314 straight days as world champ and then said and I quote, ” you had people like Burno Sammartino , only wrestled in Madison Square Garden only wrestled one a month.”

This was by far the biggest put down of Bruno ever. Why would WWE have Punk say that about someone they have been begging to go into the Hall of Fame for untold years? When that teenager looking CM Punk made that statement he was also talking about me, Ivan Koloff , Stan Hanson etc. Find the re run and listen closely and answer me this my Facebook friends – How can they justify putting down a real icon like this, and not get called out on it?

Any news sites can quote me on my statement below:

CM Punk, I have lost all respect for you for nor saying no to the writers of the WWE for saying Bruno Sammartino only wrestled once a month in Madison Square Garden. You talk about one of the greatest icons ever in pro wrestling like he was a JOBBER??? You should be ashamed of yourself for not having the self-dignity to say NO to the writers on that line. That line you delivered indicates that I am a big loser like Bruno as well and insults me as I wrestled in the same era as Bruno. This only confirms more that I want my name out of the WWE Hall of Fame.

How many monthly sell outs have you yourself drawn at Madison Square Garden? Not a PPV or the Raw TV show. Quit talking trash about Bruno. It’s an insult to him and all the wrestlers of his era including myself!

WWE Happy With Ryback, Sunny Engaged & Leaving Wrestling, Superstars-Music

25

– WWE officials are reportedly very happy with Ryback’s recent matches, including the TLC match against CM Punk on Monday’s RAW. The feeling is that Ryback has come a long way since last year and management is optimistic that he can be used as a main event babyface in 2013.

– WWE Hall of Famer Tammy “Sunny” Sytch recently noted on Facebook that she has completed rehab and is now engaged. She also revealed that she’s leaving wrestling business and plans to get her chiropractor’s degree. She is also looking to auction off her WWE Hall of Fame ring.

Rumor: El Generico Headed To WWE

22

We cannot confirm the validity of this story, but there’s a report at PWPonderings.com stating that according to their sources (which include two top indy promoters), WWE has signed top independent star El Generic to a developmental deal.

We’ve heard that WWE has been interested in Generico for quite some time, but for now, consider this an unconfirmed rumor.

El Generico signing with WWE would be a huge story, so we will touch base with some of our sources and see if this legitimate.

RAW Ratings Delayed & Some Good News Regarding The BCS Game

14

Cable television ratings from Monday night were delayed this week and should be available later today (Wednesday afternoon).

In what has to be seen as a good sign for WWE, the college football BCS National Championship game that aired on ESPN opposite RAW was a blowout and their ratings reflected it. The show peaked at a 20.0 rating at the 9:30pm (EST) hour, but then dipped to a 15.0 rating by 10:00pm. This is when the game clearly became a blowout – and it’s when WWE aired the TLC match for the WWE Championship featuring CM Punk vs. Ryback.

After the blowout BCS game returned from halftime, their rating dipped from a 16.0 to a 13.0 by the time RAW was over. The show-closing segment featuring CM Punk vs. The Rock was going up against the lowest-rated quarter hour of the BCS game (13.0 rating), so hopefully RAW’s ratings reflect a strong showing by WWE.

Mickie James Talks About TNA’s Knockouts Division & Her Music Career

2

TNA Knockout Mickie James was recently interviewed by Simon Cassidy of Fighters Magazine. Here are a few highlights of what she said about:

Her music career: “I released my first album in 2010, and went back in the studio earlier this year to record an E.P of six songs. But we’ve kind of been picked up, so we’re in the process of just going back into the studio to finish the album, we’ll release a single later this year and January for the album.

Listen Here: Mickie James’ First Country Music Single “Are You With Me?”

I’ve just signed with E1 music, and have them behind me and supporting me in this whole thing, you know…I’m starting to see the light, you know what I mean? I can see it starting to come into fruition. It’s just been constant working at it, and it’s obviously still baby steps, but this new album is slammin’. Even I can sit back and listen to it and go ‘wow’ this is awesome. From the musicians, to the producers, we have some of the best players in the world, it’s going to be awesome and I can’t wait to share it with everybody. I know I’m a country girl, but this is southern rockin’ country… I just hope that people love it. So hopefully that should be out in January, and we’re looking to coincide with the TNA tour when we come back. Who knows, I might do a CD release party when I’m back over here. We’re in talks to try and work all those things out…I’m just really excited about it.”

Her opinion of the TNA Knockouts division: “Well, there’s a lack of Mickie James. It’s cool, change is always inevitable and its part of the growing curve of the industry. With change comes new adversary’s and storylines and character development. Who knows what’s next.”
