WWE Happy With Ryback, Sunny Engaged & Leaving Wrestling, Superstars-Music

25

– WWE officials are reportedly very happy with Ryback’s recent matches, including the TLC match against CM Punk on Monday’s RAW. The feeling is that Ryback has come a long way since last year and management is optimistic that he can be used as a main event babyface in 2013.

– WWE Hall of Famer Tammy “Sunny” Sytch recently noted on Facebook that she has completed rehab and is now engaged. She also revealed that she’s leaving wrestling business and plans to get her chiropractor’s degree. She is also looking to auction off her WWE Hall of Fame ring.

Rumor: El Generico Headed To WWE

22

We cannot confirm the validity of this story, but there’s a report at PWPonderings.com stating that according to their sources (which include two top indy promoters), WWE has signed top independent star El Generic to a developmental deal.

We’ve heard that WWE has been interested in Generico for quite some time, but for now, consider this an unconfirmed rumor.

El Generico signing with WWE would be a huge story, so we will touch base with some of our sources and see if this legitimate.

RAW Ratings Delayed & Some Good News Regarding The BCS Game

14

Cable television ratings from Monday night were delayed this week and should be available later today (Wednesday afternoon).

In what has to be seen as a good sign for WWE, the college football BCS National Championship game that aired on ESPN opposite RAW was a blowout and their ratings reflected it. The show peaked at a 20.0 rating at the 9:30pm (EST) hour, but then dipped to a 15.0 rating by 10:00pm. This is when the game clearly became a blowout – and it’s when WWE aired the TLC match for the WWE Championship featuring CM Punk vs. Ryback.

After the blowout BCS game returned from halftime, their rating dipped from a 16.0 to a 13.0 by the time RAW was over. The show-closing segment featuring CM Punk vs. The Rock was going up against the lowest-rated quarter hour of the BCS game (13.0 rating), so hopefully RAW’s ratings reflect a strong showing by WWE.

Mickie James Talks About TNA’s Knockouts Division & Her Music Career

2

TNA Knockout Mickie James was recently interviewed by Simon Cassidy of Fighters Magazine. Here are a few highlights of what she said about:

Her music career: “I released my first album in 2010, and went back in the studio earlier this year to record an E.P of six songs. But we’ve kind of been picked up, so we’re in the process of just going back into the studio to finish the album, we’ll release a single later this year and January for the album.

Listen Here: Mickie James’ First Country Music Single “Are You With Me?”

I’ve just signed with E1 music, and have them behind me and supporting me in this whole thing, you know…I’m starting to see the light, you know what I mean? I can see it starting to come into fruition. It’s just been constant working at it, and it’s obviously still baby steps, but this new album is slammin’. Even I can sit back and listen to it and go ‘wow’ this is awesome. From the musicians, to the producers, we have some of the best players in the world, it’s going to be awesome and I can’t wait to share it with everybody. I know I’m a country girl, but this is southern rockin’ country… I just hope that people love it. So hopefully that should be out in January, and we’re looking to coincide with the TNA tour when we come back. Who knows, I might do a CD release party when I’m back over here. We’re in talks to try and work all those things out…I’m just really excited about it.”

Her opinion of the TNA Knockouts division: “Well, there’s a lack of Mickie James. It’s cool, change is always inevitable and its part of the growing curve of the industry. With change comes new adversary’s and storylines and character development. Who knows what’s next.”

Another Knockout Gone From TNA Wrestling, Video Preview For Thursday’s Impact Wrestling

21

– It would appear that Sarita is no longer affiliated with TNA Wrestling since her profile and pictures have been removed from the company’s official website, ImpactWrestling.com. Her apparent departure should not come as a surprise since she had not been utilized since April and in a subsequent interview with ESPN in October, considered joining WWE a short-term goal. She joined the company in early 2009.

It should be noted that D’Angelo Dinero’s profile has also been removed from the TNA website. Dinero announced on Twitter on Tuesday that his TNA contract expired on January 1st and he decided not to re-sign after 3 years with the company.

– TNA Wrestling has released a video previewing Thursday’s episode of Impact Wrestling, featuring Jeff Hardy and James Storm vs. Bobby Roode and Austin Aries.

What happens when you combine a geological aggregate of minerals with its lowest form. Sandow says that’s easy – you get Rock Bottom. Rock grabs him and gives him a Rock Bottom! Jim Ross Blog: CM Punk & The Rock’s RAW Promo, Cesaro’s Potential & More

15

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross is back with another blog update, which you can read in its entirety at JRsBarBQ.com. Here are some highlights of what JR wrote about:

Antonio Cesaro’s Potential: @AntonioCesaro delivering his finisher, the Neutralizer, to a behemoth the size of Khali was a jaw dropper. By the time that WrestleMania rolls around, I’m thinking that Cesaro will be a significant player on April 7. Cesaro is the type of in ring talent that would have been coveted in virtually any era and would never have had to look for work in the territory days.

Doing A Podcast or Writing A Book: No, I have no plans to do a podcast. Firstly, I have little to no technical expertise and I’m not a fan of most podcasts. The podcasts that I see promoted that are more than 15 or 20 minutes long would challenge me to listen. Things could change but that’s my plan at this time.

Same goes for writing an autobiography. I do want to do a book someday but I haven’t been able to get into the proper mindset to do all the research necessary to write something other than fluff loaded with inaccuracies. Plus, the book market right now is soft or so I’m told. I want to have the tools and support system in place to write a great book and not just something to generate a pay day.

The Rock & CM Punk’s Confrontation On RAW: The closing segment involving @TheRock and Punk was the unofficial kickoff to the road to WrestleMania in my estimation which will be preceded by a stop in Phoenix for the Royal Rumble and in New Orleans for the Elimination Chamber. I felt the chemistry between the two stars and their verbal interaction had an Attitude Era feel.

Most resonating statement in the final segment, in my view, was Punk saying that he was “Going to kick your ass” to Rock. That’s what it’s still all about…kicking one’s ass.

The following press release was sent out announcing that John Cena will be appearing on boxes of Post Cereal’s Fruity Pebbles as part of a new promotional partnership. Last year, Cena appeared on the top and back of the boxes. This year, Cena will be appearing on the front of 3 million boxes of Fruity Pebbles Cereal.

WWE® AND WWE SUPERSTAR JOHN CENA® TEAM UP WITH POST PEBBLES CEREAL IN NEW PROMOTIONAL PARTNERSHIP

Parsippany, NJ / January 8, 2013 — Beginning today (for a limited time), WWE Superstar John Cena and Bamm-Bamm will replace Fred Flintstone on the front of more than 8 million Post Fruity Pebbles and Cocoa Pebbles cereal boxes as part of a promotional partnership between Post Foods and WWE. Pebbles Cereal, WWE and John Cena started their partnership in 2012 after WWE Superstar Dwayne “The Rock®” Johnson teased Cena about the brightly colored ring gear he wore, saying Cena looked like he was “running around like a big bowl of Fruity Pebbles.” This led to fans chanting “Fruity Pebbles” in arenas whenever Cena would enter the ring.

In January 2012, Post printed more than 3 million Fruity Pebbles cereal boxes featuring Cena, including a sweepstakes to meet the WWE Superstar. Partnering with John Cena to communicate the powerful taste of Fruity Pebbles cereal resulted in the highest redeeming on pack promotion in recent Post history.

“Given the strength and fit of the two properties, we knew that the partnership would be successful since both brands share common consumer demographics,” said Sharon Pupel, Director of Marketing at Post. “WWE broadcasts are largely a family viewing event with more parents watching WWE with their children than any other sports league.”

Coming off the successful 2012 campaign, Post decided to build upon the partnership in 2013 with WWE and John Cena. In addition to making Cena more prominent on the packaging, which is currently on shelves, Post has developed several other marketing initiatives to be pulsed throughout the year. For example, fans can participate in a sweepstakes via the PebblesMania.com interactive gaming site to win tickets and a VIP experience to WWE’s WrestleMania® 30 in 2014; all they need is the unique code found on specially marked boxes of Pebbles cereal. During the back to school window, Post will produce another 5 million packages of Pebbles cereal featuring a fun photo app where fans can create picture of themselves with Cena.

Additionally, young fans can participate in Pebbles’ tailgating-like experiences at three major WWE events in 2013, starting with Royal Rumble® on January 27. Young fans will be able to jump into a ball pit designed to look like a giant bowl of Fruity Pebbles, create “Pebbles fan” posters used to cheer on their favorite WWE Superstars in the arena, and of course, sample Fruity and Cocoa Pebbles cereal.

“It’s been a life-long dream to be on a cereal box and I’m proud to represent WWE as part of our partnership with Post,” said WWE Superstar John Cena. “It’s an incredible honor to be recognized by Post, and I’m looking forward to joining millions of families at their breakfast table across the country.”

“We are excited to have a multi-year deal with Post and see the WWE and John Cena on the front of millions of Pebbles cereal boxes all across the country,” said Andrew Judelson, Executive Vice President, Sales and Partnership Marketing, WWE. “At WWE, we pride ourselves on delivering family-friendly entertainment and look forward to activating our partnership with Post even further at key WWE events later this year.”

“John Cena is definitely a favorite celebrity among many of our Pebbles Cereal fans,” said Ms. Pupel. “We are excited that he will temporarily flex his muscle on our boxes alongside Bamm-Bamm, one of the most-loved Flintstones characters. We’re looking forward to engaging with our fans in 2013 at premiere WWE events.”

Zack Ryder Snubbed By WWE On RAW: #AREYOUSERIOUSBRO?!

28

As if not getting booked on RAW each week was bad enough, Zack Ryder was blatantly snubbed by WWE on RAW in a way that the entire WWE Universe took notice. During Monday’s RAW, WWE aired an info-graphic touting the Superstars with the most Twitter followers:

areyouseriousbro

The problem is that Zack Ryder has 990,316 followers – over 100,000 more than The Miz and enough to qualify for the list.

Zack Ryder tweeted the following messages in response to the omission:

This lead to #AREYOUSERIOUSBRO trending worldwide on Twitter. Ryder continued:

Claiming a terrible miscarriage of justice, Ryder made one final request regarding how they can right this wrong:

What Happened After RAW With The Rock & CM Punk, Ryback Helped Backstage

6

– After WWE Champion CM Punk defeated Ryback on RAW in their TLC match, WWE trainers came to ringside and tried getting Ryback onto a stretcher. Ryback pushed them away, but was eventually helped to the back by four referees. Ryback was really selling the effects of the powerbomb spot through a table he suffered at the hands of The Shield.

– After Monday’s RAW went off the air, CM Punk returned to the ring to confront The Rock and told him he wasn’t finished talking yet. This resulted in The Rock delivering three more Rock Bottoms to the WWE Champion.

The Rock then grabbed the microphone and told the crowd that he used to live and train in Tampa, which is why he chose the city to make his WWE return.

The scheduled dark match main event between John Cena & Sheamus vs. Big Show & Dolph Ziggler never took place.
