Jim Ross Blog: CM Punk vs. The Rock, The Shield, Kassius Ohno

14

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has updated his blog, which you can read in its entirety at JRsBarBQ.com. Here are some highlights of what JR wrote about:

CM Punk vs. The Rock: “Already getting questions about what attraction will close the show at WWE Royal Rumble, @CMPunk vs. @TheRock or the Rumble match? I haven’t a clue nor do I care as either choice would be fine with me but if I had to guess I’d guess it would be the WWE Title bout. Again, don’t know and don’t care as I will be watching one of my favorite PPV events of the year.”

“My guess is that Punk will push Rock inside the ring from bell to bell unlike Rock has been pushed since, arguably, the @steveaustinBSR days. That’s not taking any thing away from @JohnCena who wrestles at a different pace that Austin did or Punk likes to. How does even an athlete as gifted as @TheRock prepare for what awaits inside the 20 foot ring? Cardio is great but nothing replicates wrestling long matches better than wrestling long matches.”

The Shield: “Who would have thought a month or so ago that three, young talents from NXT would be in a high profile. WWE PPV bout this coming Sunday? Not me but one of the primary reasons that I’m buying, yes I pay retail, the TLC PPV is to see how #TheShield performs. Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, and Roman Reigns have found themselves in the right place at the right time. Many talents have waited an entire career for that to occur.”

NXT Star Kassius Ohno: “I’d be shocked if he’s not an key player on the WWE primary roster in 2013. The world traveler is a smart, strategic, focused athlete who seems to be fully invested in getting to the next level and staying there. “

WWE Features Brock Lesnar & CM Punk Merchandise Together, Trish Stratus Yoga

14

– Paul Heyman’s HeymanHustle.com has a new feature up looking at Trish Stratus’ Stratusphere Yoga program, including new and classic pictures of the legendary WWE Diva.

– We’ve been hearing for months that WWE Chairman Vince McMahon wanted to keep Brock Lesnar “a stand-alone entity, with only Paul Heyman associated with him.” This was actually a discussion with the writers, based on all the Internet chatter of Brock interfering against Ryback’s match against Punk at Hell in a Cell.

Now, WWE has dubbed CM Punk and Brock Lesnar “Heyman Guys” on a 1-day sale at WWEShop.com. WWEShop has Heyman, Lesnar and Punk merchandise on sale all day for almost 70 percent off as part ofthe WWE’s December Sales Deals promotion.

Whether Lesnar and Punk will be associated together on television remains to be seen, but up until now, there’s been a concerted effort in WWE to keep Lesnar and Punk apart.

Vince McMahon Appearing On RAW, Major Acts Joining WWE’s Rolling Stones PPV This Saturday

8

– We’ve learned exclusively from backstage in Newark that Vince McMahon will be on WWE Monday Night RAW this evening. Whether this will be the first announcement for the 2013 WWE Hall of Fame, or an announcement regarding CM Punk and the WWE Title, no one seems to know as of this moment. But an early version of the script for tonight’s show has made its way around the production people, and Vince is definitely scheduled to appear on the show live in the front of the crowd during the 3 hour broadcast tonight.

– Bruce Springsteen, Lady Gaga and the Black Keys will be joining the Rolling Stones at Saturday night’s “One More Shot” PPV presented by WWE and Yahoo! The Stones announced via their official mobile app on Monday:

“We’re excited these extraordinary artists, Bruce Springsteen, Lady Gaga and the Black Keys, had agreed to help celebrate our 50th anniversary as we share the night live with our fans all over the world. Now the fun begins of trying to figure out the best songs to perform together.”

Big Update On Randy Savage & The WWE Hall of Fame

29

According to a high level source in WWE, Randy Savage is “off the list” for this coming year, since his brother Lanny Poffo told WWE that one of Randy’s last wishes was that the Poffo family would have to be inducted all together.

Lanny re-asserted this claim during a recent “shoot interview,” which made WWE Chairman Vince McMahon tell the writing staff “we don’t negotiate things like that.”

WWE feels its audience wants “the WWE Macho Man Randy Savage” inducted into the Hall of Fame, not “Randy, Lanny, and Angelo Poffo as a family unit.”

According to a key insider in WWE, a recent discussion with the writers led to the writers being told “we’re passing on Lanny’s claim, and so Randy will have to remain out for now.”

We’re told as far as WWE is concerned, while they want Randy in the Hall of Fame, they will not induct Savage the way Lanny Poffo is demanding.

Update On Reported John Morrison/Melina Domestic Dispute, 50 Cent Says Boxing Could Learn From WWE

40

– Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com reported on November 18 that former WWE wrestlers John Morrison and Melina were involved in a domestic dispute the prior weekend, resulting in police being summoned to the residence they share in Los Angeles, California. He said details of the story would likely be published on TMZ.com, but ultimately, was not acknowledged. In a post on the F4WOnline.com message board Saturday, Meltzer explained why additional details regarding the incident have not been revealed.

“There was an incident reported to them (TMZ) but no police report to back it up so you can’t really go forward with the story,” wrote the Wrestling Observer editor. “Same reason I haven’t said anything. I checked with police and if they were called, there was no report.”

Since news of the incident surfaced online, Morrison has continued performing at wrestling events and comedy clubs. Perez, on the other hand, has continued to remain out of the public spotlight entirely. She last appeared at a wrestling show on October 12 in Tijuana, Mexico, accompanying Morrison for a match. She stopped tweeting a few days prior, and subsequently canceled an autograph signing she was scheduled to appear at later that month.

– Speaking to USA Today, music mogul-turned-boxing promoter 50 Cent believes the sport of professional boxing could benefit from utilizing WWE-style theatrics.

“(We should) use some of the theatrics that you see in WWE and bringing them into a sport that doesn’t have a question mark — we know boxing is real. We don’t say ‘is that real?’ like wrestling. If you add those different elements to it you can offer something that would be entertaining enough to watch the entire show,” said 50 Cent.

Details on 50 Cent’s promotion plans are available here.
