Morgan Says He’s Never Returning To TNA, TNA Removes Sky Pics

27

– Matt Morgan continues to suggest via Twitter that he will not return to TNA Wrestling after reportedly fulfilling his contractual obligations with the organization last month. When asked when he will return to Impact Wrestling, he replied, “I’d say somewhere in between NEVER and EVER.” He then responded “sooner vs. later” in regards to appearing on any television show again. In response to a potential return to WWE, he once again wrote, “Tick-Tock…..”

– Lending credence to rumors of Velvet Sky’s apparent departure from TNA Wrestling, all references to the popular female grappler have been removed from the company website’s Knockouts photo gallery page. Her profile was removed from their roster index Wednesday but returned later after news of the edit surfaced online. She is advertised to appear on iPPV for Pro Wrestling Syndicate on September 14, which would indicate that she is no longer affiliated with TNA since contracted talent are prohibited from appearing on broadcasts for other wrestling organizations.

– None of the wrestlers used in the X Division Tournament to determine a new TNA X Division Champion have reappeared since Destination X. According to the Wrestling Observer, their status currently remains uncertain.

– Former TNA star Murphy turns 38 years old Wednesday.

Storyline Plans For Punk, The Rock, Cena & Undertaker

127

– The Undertaker was said to be very relaxed backstage at RAW 1,000. He is currently scheduled to return to WWE storylines around Survivor Series in November.

– With The Rock announcing on Monday’s RAW that he’ll be wrestling for the WWE Championship at next year’s Royal Rumble, the current working plan is for The Rock to win the WWE Championship at the Rumble (likely from a heel CM Punk) and then go on to defend agaisnt John Cena at WrestleMania 29. Despite Rock & Cena’s WrestleMania 28 match being hyped as “Once In a Lifetime,” Cena winning the Royal Rumble could set up a scenario where a rematch would take place.

– CM Punk’s surprise heel turn at Monday’s RAW 1,000 was the big “summer storyline” that WWE has been planning for quite some time. Previous summer angles have included Vince McMahon’s limo blowing up, the formation of Nexus and CM Punk’s “pipe bomb” promo from last year.

Ziggler’s Crazy Bumps, More Legends At RAW 1,000, New PPV

37

– Dolph Ziggler continues to build his reputation as the best bump taker in WWE. Ziggler is the person who comes up with most of his scary looking bumps, including the spot at Money In The Bank where Tensai threw him into the announcer’s table and he landed upsidedown on one of the chairs.

– WWE Hall of Famer Harley Race was backstage for RAW 1,000 but not used. There were many more Legends backstage at RAW 1,000 than actually made it on to television.

– Early advertising for next year’s Extreme Rules pay-per-view on May 19th, 2013 at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis states that it will be the first WWE PPV after WrestleMania 29, however WWE has reportedly booked a PPV event for April 28th. There is talk that this April 28th show will be a new pay-per-view.

– Despite the ratings success of Monday’s RAW 1,000 show, virtually nobody in WWE is excited about the show expanding to 3 hours on a weekly basis.

More On Kharma’s Departure & Kelly’s Future, FCW Talent

43

– Derek Foore, the 2010 NAIA national wrestling champion from Notre Dame, is currently training at WWE developmental as Chad Baxter. Many people have compared him to a young Kurt Angle.

Marcus Anthony, a former OVW star with a muscular physique, is now training at FCW as Lincoln Broderick.

– Kelly Kelly’s relationship with WWE remains strained. Some people in WWE expected her to return at RAW 1,000 and be back full time, but she did as of the weekend, she had not informed WWE of a time when she was going to come back or any future plans asking for more time off.

– Former WWE Diva Kia Stevens (Kharma) revealed on Twitter this week that she was recently released by the company. Sources in WWE indicate that she had a reputation for being difficult to work with and was stubborn about different suggestions to modify her character. Another big issue was her weight. She had been training in Florida and did lose weight, but was still not where WWE wanted her to be.

31

As reported earlier this week, Monday’s 1,000th RAW celebration did a 3.86 overall rating with 6.04 million viewers, WWE’s best-ever rating for a 3-hour RAW. The final two hours, RAW’s old timeslot, did a a 4.03 rating and 6.31 million viewers.

Heath Slater’s Legends segment gained 25,000 viewers for a 3.99 quarter rating in a timeslot that usually loses a lot of viewers.

Zack Ryder Says Kane and Eve ‘Killed My Career’, Plans To Change

30

After gaining snowball-like momentum late last year with a heavily featured position on Monday Night Raw that was highlighted by a United States Championship reign, Zack Ryder’s standing in WWE disintegrated once he became involved with Kane and Eve on television. From January to April, the self-described “Long Island Iced-Z” was routinely destroyed by the monster wrestler and made to look foolish by the cunning Diva. Though he managed to gain a measure of revenge on both parties on the “Great American Bash” edition of SmackDown on July 3, his career currently remains in limbo. Speaking to XFINITY® from Comcast, Ryder attributes his diminished role to both Kane and Eve.

He explains, “I was on such a roll at the end of 2011 and the beginning of 2012 and the whole Kane and Eve thing killed my momentum. Basically killed my career. So, to turn that around and get revenge on them was something I needed. Hopefully it’ll get the Ryder Revolution back on track.”

With that behind him, Ryder says his current goal is to regain the United States Championship.

“I’d love to get that back,” he says. “In 2011 I think I proved to people that I’m not a joke, I can be taken seriously in the ring. And hopefully by the end of this year I’ll have a major championship.”

Ryder also has plans to tweak his character in the next few years since he “can’t be the same old guy forever.”

Ryder adds, “But that doesn’t mean I’ll have to drop all of the parts of my character to get to the top. I think eventually I’ll evolve. If you’ve followed my career I was a Major Brother, then an Edge Head, now I’m Zack Ryder, I’m sure in three years I’ll be completely different.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Ryder discusses WWE embracing social media, the Internet Championship, working with Edge and more. Read more here.

Kenn Doane Weighs In On Heat Between John Cena and Alex Riley

42

Once a promising talent in WWE’s midcard scene, Alex Riley’s role in the company has been greatly curtailed since last year. According to PWInsider.com, the Raw Superstar is in the doghouse stemming from a hostile backstage encounter with John Cena.

Cena was reportedly poking fun at Riley in front of their wrestler peers, and in response, the Raw talent angrily reacted to Cena’s “rib”—a violation of the unspoken rules of the WWE locker room. Though Riley’s exact actions are not known at this time, his unfavorable reaction to Vince McMahon’s pride and joy was not considered a good move.

Kenn Doane, who appeared as Kenny of the Spirit Squad and Kenny Dykstra for WWE from 2006 to 2008, weighed in on the matter after claiming last month that Cena’s backstage politics sabotaged his once promising grappling career.

He tweeted, “Cena acts stupid to riley, riley calls him on it, loses push. This must be a lie! Lmao #ibelieve.”

Velvet Sky Advertised For Upcoming iPPV, Opening Impact Segment

3

– Lending confusion to Velvet Sky’s contractual status with TNA Wrestling amidst rumors that her tenure is drawing near, the popular female wrestler’s profile was removed from their roster index Wednesday before being placed back after news spread online. Though she remains listed as a member of the active roster, another online sign would confirm that she is no longer affiliated with the organization.

Sky is advertised to appear on iPPV for Pro Wrestling Syndicate on September 14—event taking place at the Rahway Recreation Center in Rahway, New Jersey. Though contracted TNA Wrestling talent are permitted to appear for independent wrestling promotions, they are prohibited from appearing on shows which are broadcast.

– TNA Wrestling President Dixie Carter announced Wednesday that an Interim General Manager for Impact Wrestling will be appointed in the opening segment of Thursday’s live show.

“While Hulk Hogan is recovering, I’ve asked another man to step in and take control,” she tweeted. “He appears right at 8/7 Central on (Spike TV) tomorrow.

– Tickets for TNA Wrestling’s Bound For Glory pay-per-view event on October 14 in Phoenix, Arizona go on sale this Friday (10:00 a.m. MST/1:00 p.m. EDT) at the Grand Canyon University Arena box office, GCUArena.com or charge by phone at 602-639-8999.

Is Velvet Sky Gone From TNA Wrestling?

26

To add more confusion to Velvet Sky’s contractual status with TNA Wrestling, the popular female grappler’s profile was removed from the company website’s roster index Wednesday and promptly placed back after word spread online.

Since TNA rarely acknowledges talent departures, a profile removal from the roster page of ImpactWrestling.com generally indicates a parting of ways. On the other hand, Ric Flair remains listed as a member of the active roster after TNA terminated his contract on May 11, 2012, according to court documents filed in their lawsuit against WWE for interference with existing contracts. The page edit comes on the heels of multiple online outlets reporting earlier this week that she was on her way out of the company due to a contract dispute.

Sky, who has been with TNA since the inception of the Knockouts division in October 2007, last appeared for the organization at a BaseBrawl event in Memphis, Tennessee on July 14. She is presently booked for a Legends of the Ring convention in Monroe, New Jersey the same weekend that TNA holds its annual Bound for Glory festivities. She has tweeted recently about holding a “Beautiful People” reunion tour outside of TNA auspices with Angelina Love, who recently left the company.

What Happened After SmackDown, Matt Hardy vs. Carlito

23

– The dark main event that took place after Tuesday’s night’s WWE SmackDown tapings from Kansas City, Missouri saw World Heavyweight champion Sheamus defeat Alberto Del Rio. During the match, John Laurinaitis came out and hit Sheamus with a steel chair. After the match, Sheamus cleared the ring of all the heels to send the fans home happy.

– Also at Tuesday’s SmackDown tapings, Triple H’s appeared in an off-camera segment and confronted Damien Sandow. Triple H joked about giving Sandow a pedigree on RAW 1,000 the previous night – before delivering another pedigree to Sandow.

– Matt Hardy posted the following video on Youtube hyping an upcoming match against former WWE superstar Carlito for the MCW promotion based out of Niles, Ohio:

Update On Organization Trying To Use The Letters ECW

13

As previously reported, a company called Mocker LLC has attempted to trademark the letters “ECW” to be used for a new pro wrestling promotion after WWE let their trademark expire.

After a recent rant by Paul Heyman stating that nobody could ever recreate the magic of ECW no matter what they call themselves, the United States Patent & Trademark Office has rejected Mocker’s request, due to potential conflicts with WWE’s ECW-related trademarks. WWE still has trademarks on the phrases ECW One Night Stand, ECW Extremists and ECW Vixens.

TNA Wrestling was cited as an example of another company existing in the same industry using their own unique trademark that does not infringe on existing trademarks by a competitor.

Roddy Piper & Kaitlyn Respond To False Online Reports

27

WWE Hall of Famer Roddy Piper and WWE diva Kaitlyn have responded to false online reports that Piper offended Kaitlyn backstage at Monday’s RAW 1,000 by making inappropriate gestures towards her.

Piper, who usually does not address Internet reports, says he felt compelled to set the record straight – and has challenged whoever started the rumor to appear on his Rod-Pod podcast on August 2nd to discuss the situation. Piper tweeted:

Kaitlyn followed up with this message:

Report: WWE Network Launch Delayed Again

18

The planned WWE Network might have been delayed yet again. The original launch date was earlier this year during WrestleMania 28 weekend. When WWE failed to secure clearances from the big cable carriers, the launch was delayed to this fall. Now, the latest is that the network launch will be delayed once again.

Wrestling Observer editor Dave Meltzer was interviewed by a newspaper in Stamford this week about the fledgling network and said that he does not think it will launch until next year.

The newspaper reached out to WWE for a comment, but did not get a response. With a 2013 launch now looking like the likely scenario, WWE will likely hold off until WrestleMania 29 weekend, when the company will have the most eyes on their product from the WWE Universe and the mainstream media.

In preparation for the eventual launch, WWE continues to digitize their library of footage, with employees still being hired for the massive undertaking.

Cena Training For CM Punk, Backstage Heat On A-Ri

57

– WWE continues to advertise Kelly Kelly for upcoming live events and RAW television tapings. Kelly has been off television for several weeks. She was at Monday’s RAW 1,000 show but was not used on camera.

– Fans may have noticed in recent months that Alex Riley’s push has been stopped dead in its tracks. According to PWInsider.com, Riley is in the dog house after a recent backstage incident with John Cena.

Cena was reportedly ribbing Riley, who completely over-reacted to Cena’s joking around and violated unspoken rules of the WWE locker room. While Alex Riley’s exact actions are not known at this time, Flipping out on WWE’s top superstar is probably not the best career move.

– John Cena, the first WWE superstar that failed to win gold after cashing in a Money in the Bank briefcase, Touted a new video and is claiming to become better than WWE Champion CM Punk. Check out this video of Cena deadlifting at the gym, which carried the caption, “120k #snatch the briefcase may b gone, but #youcantstopthehustle” –

The Bella Twins Planning To Return To WWE, Lilian Garcia On TV

27

– In a newly published interview with Maxim, The Bella Twins say they look forward to returning to WWE in the future.

When asked to address their whereabouts since parting ways with the sports entertainment organization in April, Brie states, “We’ve been keeping busy! In August you can see us on Ridiculousness on MTV, and in September we’ll be sharing some thoughts about Tim Tebow on the NFL Network. But honestly, the WWE is a huge family, and we look forward to going back.”

Having been involved with professional wrestling industry for five years, they are asked what made then enter it in the first place. Nikki says, “We weren’t even allowed to watch wrestling as kids, but our friends always told us we’d be perfect for it. Then we did Diva Search and saw what it was all about. We were like, “Wait, you get to kick girls’ butts and look hot doing it? This is so our calling!”

The twin duo also discuss growing up together, whether men not familiar with wrestling have trouble believing they’re actual wrestlers, their favorite thing to do together and more. The full interview is available here.

Mr. Anderson Comments On Whether He’s Still Happy To Wrestle

8

Mr. Anderson joined Washington Redskins defensive end Adam Carriker and Chuck Carroll on this week’s “4th & Pain”—the only pro wrestling show hosted by an NFL player. More information on the show is available at 4thandpain.com. Highlights from the interview are as follows:

Is he still happy in pro wrestling?: “I really am. And I think I’ve been reinvigorated. I took some time off a few months back… I took about four months off and took care of some personal things and just cleared my head. I’ve been in the business now for 13 years and was part of that major wrestling corporation for six or seven years. And the fact that we don’t have an offseason and we go 52 weeks each year–that’s what a lot of people don’t realize–it does take its toll on your body, takes its toll on your mind. I will say that it’s gone in waves. I’ve had some big ups in my career and I’ve had some lows. But overall I’m happy with every single thing I’ve done. I’m happy with the mistakes that I’ve made because I’ve learned from those mistake. I’m very happy with our company right now and the direction that it’s going. I hope our fans are as excited about it as we are.”

How he got the idea to announce his name twice: “The microphone fun and two-time name announcing began in high school when he was tasked with creating a fake radio advertisement for invisible underwear. No, we’re not making this up.”

The teacher encouraged him to get into radio and shortly there after he began announcing for the school’s basketball games. It was there he would “add a little flare” and say the last names of the players twice.

Flash forward 15 years later he was in Ohio Valley Wrestling and it happened . . .

“I’m down at OVW and Paul Heyman suggested to me that I go out to the ring and announce myself,” Anderson told the 4th & Pain crew. “And that was just something… I threw in the last Anderson, the second Anderson and I came I came back through the curtain everybody was like, ‘That was awesome when you said your last name twice.’ And it turned out that was what it took to get me to the dance. It seems so stupid, but just saying my last name twice… It’s just those little things. ”

When Anderson’s wrestling days are over he will have a future as a journalist. He asked Adam a question he’d never been asked in the three years he’s been with the Redskins. The answer, for Redskins fans, was shocking!

JBL Talks About Eddie Guerrero Helping Him Get Over

23

Arda Ocal of The Score television network is back with another exclusive interview with a former WWE superstar, John “Bradshaw” Layfield. Here are some highlights of what JBL said about:

Eddie Guerrero Helping Him Get Over In WWE:

“Eddie and I were really good friends. Eddie wanted the JBL character to succeed very badly. When I first started, I had been a mid-card to an upper-mid card guy my whole career. I filled in a few main events, but I was not a main event guy. People just weren’t buying the JBL character, it was forced down on them. It was one day I was Bradshaw and the next day I was JBL, with a cowboy hat in a world title match- people just didn’t buy it. Eddie really took that personal and he took it upon himself to get me over… His brother [Chavo] was a huge instrumental piece of what we did during that time. That’s when we came up with the heart attack angle with his mother and that’s when we came up with the immigration, back and forth over the border. A lot of that was Eddie, Chavo and I sitting around in the dressing room talking. If it hadn’t been for Eddie I don’t think the JBL character would have ever worked.”

An Update On His Seven Summits Adventure:

“I got Kilimanjaro next which is the easiest of the seven summits. It’s very high, 19,000 feet, but it’s the easiest of the seven summits…. Some of these mountains, Aconcagua and Vincent, when you’re climbing, you got to be climbing the whole time. At Russia, we had a little bit of down time, that’s why I chose it, so I could learn mountain skills. I didn’t even know how to put cramps on when I got there. I learned a lot.”

JBL also reveals how he pitched the idea of “Tribute to the Troops” to Vince McMahon and Kevin Dunn. Here is the complete interview:

JR Blogs RAW 1,000: Austin, Lesnar, Rock & Undertaker

22

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross is back with his latest blog, which you can read in its entirety at JRsBarBQ.com. In this installment, JR talks about Monday’s historic RAW 1,000 show. Here are some highlights of what JR wrote about:

The Rock: “Good to see The Rock as he made his rounds to say hello to everyone before preparing for what was obviously a busy and entertaining night. Rock committing to perform in the main event at the 2013 Royal Rumble obviously has Wrestlemania 29 implications or it would seem.”

The Undertaker: “Ate lunch with the Undertaker and we essentially talked about one thing…the upcoming football season. I suggested that he needed to come to an Oklahoma-Texas game in the Cotton Bowl some day and he quickly corrected me by calling the Red River Rivalry the TEXAS-Oklahoma game.”

Brock Lesnar: “It was also great catching up with Brock Lesnar who I hadn’t talked to since the night he beat Shane Carwin in a UFC Main Event in Las Vegas. That was one where Brock weathered a fierce storm to submit Carwin in the second round. Lesnar looks great and was beet red from being outdoors doing all the farming that he undertakes. I assume that WWE fans will see much more of the “Next Big Thing” between now and Summerslam when he faces HHH in the main event. You can tell a great deal about a man by not only how they shake one’s hand but also by the “feel’ of said hand. Lesnar’s reminded me of my Dad’s hands, large and calloused.

If I could ‘manufacture’ a wrestler he likely would resemble Brock Lesnar. Big, strong, fast and nasty. It’s hard to fully understand an athlete like Lesnar who is so big and still retains amazing agility and speed.”

Steve Austin Missing The Show: “We all missed Steve Austin not being there but with Steve under going major knee surgery just a few weeks ago and still hobbling around on crutches, it just wasn’t in the cards. I can assure you from talking to him on numerous occasions that he wanted to attend but it simply wasn’t physically feasible. Steve’s knee was in deplorable shape from the years of wear and tear on the football field and in the ring. Flying in an airplane for a few hours isn’t the smartest thing a guy can do in that condition especially so soon after surgery and before rehab has commenced. Most fans understand while a handful of jackasses who go into business for themselves don’t.

For anyone to truly think that Stone Cold Steve Austin, a man who defined Monday Night Raw during its biggest years, wouldn’t want to attend the very broadcast that he helped put on the map is pet coon goofy.”

Trish Stratus and Lita Reunite Following Raw, Recall Top Moment

16

Following Monday’s historic 1,000th episode of Raw, friends and former rivals Trish Stratus and Lita reunited backstage for an exclusive WWE.com video to talk about their big moment on the program—main-eventing against each other on December 6, 2004.

Lita says of the match, “We killed it,” before showing off a Stratusphere™ T-Shirt Trish gave her. Trish adds, “Our match was epic,” with both proclaiming they were “the boys” that evening.

Lita was asked about prevailing over Heath Slater on Monday’s show and revealed she felt bad for him since there were fifteen “of us” out there. Trish says Heath was a good sport about getting beat up.

The defining Divas are then asked which girl is going to lead Raw into show 2000. Trish doesn’t think anyone can while Lita says it’s up in the air and challenges any girl to “grab that brass ring.”

Trish adds, “Take it, if you dare…”

Trish and Lita are show eating cupcakes in the video. Lita added on Twitter: “That was the first of many cupcakes to follow that evening. #FAT1000 #topbitches.” Trish responds, “We earned those cupcakes #kickingasstakingnamesfor6years.”

Kevin Nash Says Their Will Be A New World Order Reunion

70

The New World Order created chaos in the ranks of World Championship Wrestling as the renegade faction sought success by any means necessary. Now, group founder Kevin Nash is looking to reform the nefarious faction and run roughshod over the world of wrestling once again.

“A lot of you wanted an NWO reunion, there will be one. As you know we only come in take over mode. Stay tuned!!!,” he announced Tuesday night via Twitter.

The group’s reformation could take place in WWE and if Nash has his wish fulfilled, with CM Punk as their leader. Nash tweeted to a fan that he wants the WWE Champion as group captain with the “NWO army to protect the gold.”

“Rock will never walk out of the Rumble with the belt. We got Phil’s back,” he adds.

Meanwhile, TNA Wrestling executive Eric Bischoff re-tweeted Nash’s announcement reading “A lot of you wanted an NWO reunion, there will be one. As you know we only come in take over mode. Stay tuned!!!”

*SPOILERS* WWE SmackDown Tapings Results For Friday

48

WWE announced the new #1 contender to World Hvt. champion Sheamus will be determined in a fatal four-way match. The wrestlers are Rey Mysterio, Kane, Daniel Bryan, and Alberto Del Rio.

(1) IC champion The Miz beat Christian to retain the Intercontinental Title. Christian said he’s invoking his re-match clause. Miz retained with a schoolboy and handful of tights. Good match. Lots of nearfalls.

World Hvt. champion Sheamus will face Cody Rhodes tonight.

(2) Ryback beat Jinder Mahal via count-out. Jinder walked out of the match. Ryback sold far too much.

(3) World Hvt. champion Sheamus beat Cody Rhodes with the Brogue Kick in a non-title match. Dolph Ziggler came out mid-match, then teased cashing in afterward, but walked off. But, Chris Jericho jumped Ziggler, rolled him into the ring, and Dolph took the Brogue Kick followed by Codebreaker from Jericho.

(4) Antonio Cesaro beat U.S. champion Santino in a non-title match.

(5) Damien Sandow beat Yoshi Tatsu.

Triple H made his advertised off-camera appearance dropping Sandow with a Pedigree (which follows Hunter taking out Sandow during the DX skit on Raw).

(6) Alberto Del Rio beat Rey Mysterio, Kane, and Daniel Bryan in a four-way #1 contender match to the World Title. Del Rio stole Rey’s pin on Bryan post-619 and pinned Bryan with Ricardo Rodriguez’s help.

CM Punk Recalls How He Was ‘Dumbfounded’ By John Laurinaitis

16

Speaking to WWE Magazine, CM Punk reveals the most ridiculous thing John Laurinaitis ever said to him—comparing himself to three of the greatest wrestlers of all-time.

“He always tries to tell me some kind of stories that relate to whatever I’m going through at the time with him and his career in Japan. Maybe there are some parallels,” Punk recalls. “One time, he compared himself to Hulk Hogan, Randy “Macho Man” Savage and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin when he talked about signature finishers and whatever the set up was. Hogan would tuck his hand to his ear. Austin would do the double-bird. Savage would point to the sky before dropping his respective finisher. Then he threw his in there—it was the Peace Sign followed by the Ace Crusher.

“I was just dumbfounded that he had the gall to throw his name and his hat in with those historic Superstars.”

Punk was also asked who, other himself, will he play as in the upcoming WWE ’13 video game.

“Mike Tyson!” Punk states. “Yeah, it’s the first time that he’s been in a wrestling title, as far as I know. The last time he was in a video game was Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out!! So how awesome is that!? For sure—I’m going to knock you out.”
