John Cena Going Thug? Bagwell Update, AW’s Stable

60

– As seen on Monday’s RAW, John Cena came to the ring for his Extreme Rules contract signing with a chain wrapped around his fist. The WWE website has a new article up looking at Edge’s pep talk to Cena that speculates whether Cena will bring out his “thug” side in order to defeat Brock Lesnar. Here’s an excerpt:

“Maybe a stern message from The Master Manipulator was what Cena needed all along. On Sunday night at Extreme Rules, will Cena heed Edge’s call and unleash ruthless aggression to shock Lesnar? Or is he just going to wind up the first victim in Brock’s fearsome quest to take over WWE?”

– Abraham Washington continued to offer his managerial services to WWE superstars on Friday’s SmackDown. He told WWE Tag Team Champions Epico and Primo that they need to tell him by Monday whether they want him represent them.

AW also offered his professional services to Ryback.

– TMZ reports that Buff Bagwell is still hospitalized but breathing and eating on his own after the bad car accident on Monday. Bagwell was hooked up to breathing tubes while emergency room doctors worked on major injuries to his face and spine. The breathing tube was removed on Wednesday and Buff is now talking and eating solid foods.

Some of Buff’s WCW co-workers like Sting, Diamond Dallas Page, Rick Steiner and Scott Steiner have contacted him while in the hospital.

“Big fight scene today for PAIN & GAIN w/ my boy – Olympic Gold Medalist & wrestling MACHINE @RealKurtAngle. #Boots2Asses”

– Antonio Cesaro made his WWE in-ring debut on SmackDown ina “tryout match” against Tyson Kidd. John Laurinaitis stipulated that if he liked what he saw, he’d offer Cesaro a contract. Cesaro squashed Kidd in about three minutes and is expected to officially join the SmackDown roster soon.

– WWE talent Damien Sandow make his in-ring debut on SmackDown next week.

Goldberg Talks One Final Match, Steve Austin & Brock Lesnar

17

Former WWE & WCW star Bill Goldberg recently appeared on Washington DC’s 106.7 The Fan and spoke about the possibility of working for WWE again, still wanting to wrestle “Stone Cold” Steve Austin and his thoughts on Brock Lesnar. Here are some highlights of what Golberg said about:

Having One Final Match:

“It’s really tough for a guy like myself. Look at a guy like Animal. Look at Road Warrior. Look at guys who are big power guys. . . the older you get the harder it is to be that guy.”

He continued and said it’s very hard to maintain the muscular appearance that fans remember him for – and he doesn’t want to return and have a crappy match.

Still Wanting To Wrestle Steve Austin & Why It Won’t Happen:

“That’d be a dream come true… that’d be killer. I think at the end of the day they probably don’t trust me enough to put me in there with guys, considering I’m ‘a dangerous guy to work with’ and ‘I haphazardly ended Bret Hart’s career.’ At the end of the day these people have to understand it’s a violent deal, number one. Number two, accidents happen. And number three, that’s why I work in Japan — they don’t cry if you hit them …That’s a joke.”

He & Brock Lesnar’s Departure From WWE After WrestleMania 20:

“Obviously it was kind of unfinished business. We both left there under circumstances that weren’t the most favorable for anybody, let alone the fans who are the most important at the end of the day.”

His Opinion Of Brock Lesnar:

“Brock, as a young kid, he succeeded in every single thing that he did. To venture out and try to play professional football without having college experience — LaVar will tell you how hard that is. Big pat on the back to him for that. And then going to MMA and succeeding and becoming the World Heavyweight Champion. . . Whatever Brock wants to do, I’m in his corner. He’s a good buddy of mine and we talk frequently. I just hope at the end of the day whatever he chooses his health is in a positive note. We all know he’s had some issues over the past number of years.”

Phoenix Injury Update, Who Is Censoring Zack Ryder & More

9

– WWE Diva Beth Phoenix posted a photo of her at a doctor’s office for an MRI this weekend witht he caption, “More tests, fingers crossed.” Sources still insist that the injury is all part of the storylines. She tweeted about her Extreme Rules match:

“I have been given my rematch this Sunday. Even if I have to wrestle on one leg, I can STILL beat @thebellatwins and win my title back.”

– Zack Ryder tweeted that WWE has once again censored his Z! True Long Island Story show:

“@WWE censored me again! WTF!!!”

Shortly after Ryder’s tweet, Eve Torres responded that she is the person responsible for Ryder’s show being censored for the past two weeks.

– The Rock posted a shout out to WWE staffers on Twitter this weekend:

“To all @WWE corporate & production employees: THANK YOU. #ThatsAll”

John Cena’s Make-A-Wish Friend Dylan Christian Has Passed Away

65

We are saddened to report that Dylan Christian, the 12-year-old friend of John Cena from the Make-A-Wish Foundation, passed away on Thursday a fourth bout with cancer. Dylan met John Cena at a WWE RAW event from Cleveland months ago and the two instantly had a special bond. Cena brought the boy and his family to WrestleMania 28 and spoke about Dylan throughout WrestleMania week, talking about how unbelievably brave he was during his fight. Just heartbreaking stuff.

Say what you want about John Cena the wrestling character, but John Cena the human being is a true hero who gives countless hours of his time to bring some magic into the lives of sick children.

In related news, USA Today has published an essay from John Cena this week talking about his Make-A-Wish experiences. Here is an excerpt of what Cena wrote:

“As these kids come looking for a chance to interact with my WWE persona, they are living that moment on their terms. And they exude pure joy. Triumph. Their parents, often through tears, say the wish experience has given them their children back.

There is a lesson here for all of us. About making wishes, and about granting them.

Wishing is powerful stuff.”

Daniel Bryan Wants To Wrestle CM Punk At WrestleMania 29

26

During an interview with ChicagoNow.com to promote Sunday’s WWE Extreme Rules pay-per-view,  Daniel Bryan was asked who he’d want to face at WrestleMania 29 next April. Bryan named a former rival of his – current WWE champion, CM Punk. Here’s what Daniel Bryan said about the potential showdown:

“I would think it would be really cool and how both are careers have gone, it would be CM Punk. I think that would be a major important match and be awesome to go out there in front of 70,000 people and show them what we can do. Both of us wrestled in front of 35 people so having that kind of crowd in front of us would be amazing.”

Bryan also revealed in a new interview with Arda Ocal that after he was released by WWE back in 2010, he had talks with people in TNA. Bryan also noted that at the time of his release that he wasn’t concerned financially because he had options to make more money compared to NXT wrestlers were being paid.

“WWE apologized and said they had sponsors they had to deal with and whatnot. And I said don’t worry about me, I’m probably going to make more money this year than I did the last year when I was on NXT,” Bryan said. “I had people from Japan calling me, I had TNA people talking to me, not directly, but through other people. It was just a fascinating time for me in my career.”

Interesting pick from Daniel Bryan. We want to know – which match would you rather see at WrestleMania 29? Daniel Bryan vs. CM Punk or CM Punk vs. “Stone Cold” Steve Austin? Hit up the comments below with your pick.

Batista’s Big Announcement, JR On Lesnar’s Return & more

65

– Several weeks ago, Batista teased on Twitter that he has a “major announcement” to make soon. Batista provided an update this week – stating that he’ll make the announcement in May – and that 2012 is about to get “real.”

Batista’s manager Johnny Ryan Jr. also tweeted the following this week:

“Closing these deals for @DaveBautista with the suits. Will be able to announce soon and it will be worth the wait!”

– Jim Ross wrote the following on Twitter this week about why Brock Lesnar has returned to WWE:

“Brock Lesnar is back in WWE to: 1 intimidate 2 brutalize 3 earn BIG money NOT to 1 work on public speaking skills 2 make friends 3 lose”

“Fans that naively think that money & being able to physically dominate people didn’t affect Lesnar’s return to WWE aren’t being honest. Word”

– After being asked on Twitter this week who his favorite WWE Diva is, Steve Austin said it’s Kelly Kelly:

“She’s my fave Diva. Super nice young lady. Keeps improving in the ring. Very easy on the eyes.”

Kevin Nash Rants On WWE & The Hall Of Fame

22

Former WWE star Kevin Nash ranted about WWE and the Hall of Fame on Thursday night – saying that being inducted means nothing to him and it’s just “not cool” that 90% of the people he would give “shout outs” to during his induction speech are “gone.”

“HOF means nothing to me,If I Die before it I,ve asked my wife to pass.Nothing against it or WWE,but if Pete Rose ain’t in cooperstown”

“Just don’t need it to validate my life.I wake every morning to the sight of the ocean. for a Detroit boy I’m already in”

“Don’t worrie some stooge at WWE;who’s job is to read all this shit will as of tonight’make sure it never comes up,let alone happens”

Shane Douglas Says TNA Payed ECW Originals $250

38

ECW Original Shane Douglas spoke with Mister Saint Laurent on MLW Radio, the official podcast of Major League Wrestling. Douglas talked about his Extreme Reunion, thoughts on Vince McMahon as a promoter and more. The full interview can be heard on MLW.com or iTunes.

Douglas talked about TNA President Dixie Carter paying ECW Originals a low amount of money for the TNA Hardcore Justice pay-per-view:

“After Dixie Carter did her show [Hardcore Justice] and paid the guys a ridiculous sum of money, $250 to go out there and do what we do better than most people do, that to me was just so disrespectful. For somebody who has been born and raised in a billion dollar household with a silver spoon in her mouth and up her backside, to ask guys to go out there and do that, for that little bit of money and then when it did better than any pay-per-view event in the last five years, didn’t even offer so much as an extra penny on top of it.”

“I said then and I stand by it, shame on you Dixie Carter that you’d expect anybody to do that in this day and age. At the same time she pays Ric Flair, 62, 63 years old, $35,000 a night. 60 year old Hulk Hogan, $75,000 a night and then somehow figures that these guys that come from ECW just don’t have any value or worth at all. I plan on disproving that.”

Breaking News: Rey Mysterio Suspended For 60 Days

67

WWE has announced that Rey Mysterio has been suspended for 60 days.

“STAMFORD, Conn. – In accordance with its Talent Wellness Program, WWE has suspended Oscar Gutierrez (Rey Mysterio) for 60 days effective Thursday, April 26 for his second violation of the company’s policy.”

Mysterio recently stated on Twitter that he was planning to return form injury in May, but now he’s looking at a late-June/early-July return at the earliest.

As per the terms of WWE’s Talent Wellness Program, he will be released if he fails another drug test.

MVP & Carlito Video Interview, Tensai’s Finisher, WWE-THQ

10

– Lord Tensai’s claw finishing move has been modified for safety precautions. The hold now comes from the standing position, giving the opponent the ability to land back-first. The move originally started from Tensai’s knee, which caused the point of impact to be the back of his opponent’s head.

– Zack Ryder’s complaints that WWE edited his Youtube show and censoring him are likely just part of storylines.

– DigitalTrends.com has an article up looking at video game publisher Electronic Arts being on the lookout for acquisitions of gaming studios. With THQ in major financial trouble, they speculate that EA could take them over – which would give them the rights to the WWE video game franchise.

– MVP has posted a 30-minute discussion with fellow former WWE superstar Carlito. The two discuss their time in WWE, backstage heat, how working for WWE completely takes over your life and a lot more. Check it out:

Sheamus’ Next Feuds, Bryan’s Popularity, Cesaro’s Finishing Move

27

– Following Sunday’s Extreme Rules pay-per-view, there has been talk of shifting Daniel Bryan out of the World Title picture and having Sheamus feud with returning stars Alberto Del Rio and Christian.

– WWE has softened its position on Daniel Bryan’s “YES!” chants and are now embracing them, as evidenced by Bryan’s finishing move being renamed, the “Yes! Lock.” WWE is expecting a very rowdy, pro-Bryan Crowd this Sunday night, with Chicago being known as a city full of “smart” fans who support Bryan.

– Antonio Cesaro (Claudio Castagnoli) made his debut on WWE TV last week in a backstage segment with Aksana, Teddy Long and John Laurinaitis. He will make his in-ring debut this Friday on SmackDown in a “tryout match” against Tyson Kidd, arranged by Laurinaitis.

Without spoiling the result of his match with Tyson Kidd, we can confirm that the  finishing move Cesaro will use in WWE is called a Gotch Style Neutralizer (also known as a Pancake Cradle Piledriver … mmmmm, pancakes). The move starts as a Gotch-style piledriver but then he falls forward into face slam, similar to Triple H’s Pedigree.

Paul Bearer Blogs About His Appearance On Mondy’s RAW

10

Paul Bearer returned to WWE television on Monday’s RAW, getting kidnapped by Randy Orton and placed in a freezer. The WWE Insider Twitter account noted that Bearer was suffering the effects of hypothermia due to the attack.

It appears that Paul Bearer has thawed out – as he ws able to write a new blog at Blogspot.ca where he spoke about his appearance on RAW:

“I certainly enjoyed being part of a live WWE Raw television event this week, after a long period. If you have been following the show you know that the week before my ‘son’ Kane attacked the Legendary Cowboy Bob Orton, Father of ring star Randy Orton. It was only natural for Paul Bearer to pop back in, and Randy Orton getting retribution on ‘The Fat Man.’ I throughly enjoy these storylines, notwithstanding my month long ‘kidnapped story’ with Edge just last year…

“Will you ever see Paul Bearer on WWE programming again? Never say never… but, I wouldn’t hold my breath if I were you. My ship has virtually sailed. I have absolutely no intention of returning to The WWE, or any wrestling company for that matter, in any type of full time position. I will continue to work with independent promotions, wrestling conventions, reunions, etc., as I have been doing during the past few years.”

Bearer also noted that he was contacted about the appearance last Saturday and he currently has four years left on his WWE legends contract.

Orton vs. Lesnar At SummerSlam, Cruiserweights Show & More

24

– There has been talk of Randy Orton vs. Brock Lesnar headlining WWE SummerSlam in August. Whether or not the match actually takes place at SummerSlam, we can confirm that Lesnar is slated to feud with Orton when his feud with John Cena concludes.

As previously reported, WWE is also considering holding a Money in the Bank match at SummerSlam – if Wade Barrett [the rumored winner] is healthy to return by then.

– Earlier this week, independent wrestler Steven Walters did an interview talking about the planned Cruiserweights show that will air on the WWE Network when it launches this fall. WWE reportedly has a long list of wrestlers (200 pounds and under) in the United States and Mexico that

The Miz Safe In WWE, Christian’s Return, Primo-Epico-WWC

9

– Remember The Miz? While the former WWE champion has been lost in the shuffle in recent months, his spot on the WWE roster is safe and there is virtually no risk of him being released any time soon.

–  Christian was advertised to return to SmackDown this week – but he did not appear at Tuesday’s tapings. No word yet on why he was not brought back to television this week, but there are plans to feature him in the World Heavyweight title picture after Extreme Rules.

– WWE Tag Team Champions Primo and Epico will be defending the titles at an upcoming WWC Event in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico on April 28th. They will defend the WWE tag titles against a masked team called Los Enmascarados Misteriosos. Primo and Epico’s WWE contracts allow them to work a few shows a year for WWC owner Carlos Calon, who is also WWE’s local promoter in Puerto Rico.

Video: Heath Slater Attacks Flo Rida At WWE Live Event

28

Things are heating up between Heath Slater and WrestleMania 28 Flo Rida – and its looking like we might actually see a match between these two.

To recap, Flo Rida was at WrestleMania 28 and attacked Heath Slater backstage. Slater had some strong words for Flo Rida, which prompted Flo Rida to post a YouTube video showing him training and telling Heath Slater that he’s coming for him. [View Here].

WWE has now released a video from a recent live event – with Heath Slater attacking Flo Rida. Heath Slater is shown kicking open the door of a room while Flo Rida was talking to someone on the phone. Slater shoved Flo Rida to the ground and stood over him, stating that he’s not a joke as the rapper holds his hands up for protection.

Here’s the video of Heath Slater getting payback on Flo Rida:

Chris Jericho’s Future, WWE Fires Back At Linda’s Opponent

17

– There has been a lot of talk in recent weeks as to whether Chris Jericho will remain with WWE after this summer, when his band Fozzy goes on tour. Jericho has stated on several occasions that he will be leaving WWE once again to tour with Fozzy, but Jericho is a seasoned pro at floating false information and misleading the wrestling media. Upon speaking with people close to Jericho, the feeling is that if he does leave this summer to tour with Fozzy, he’ll be back in WWE full time after the summer.

– WWE has fired back at Linda McMahon political opponent Christopher Shays after Shays recently told the Weekly Standard that WWE is all about “violence, bullying, degradation of minorities and women.” Here is an excerpt from WWE spokesman Robert Zimmerman’s letter to Shays:

“With regard to our content being “violent,” WWE programming, like Hollywood movies and Broadway shows, is an exciting blend of action, characters and fictional storylines of good versus evil that entertains millions every week, including approximately 300,000 fans here in Connecticut. Our performers are professionals who have spent many years training to perfect the athletic and choreographed maneuvers in our shows. Your assertion that our content is “violent” is in direct conflict with the standards and practices departments of our current TV network distributors who have rated our programming TV-PG.

With regard to “degradation of minorities and women,” you should know that our shows are some of TV’s highest-rated programming and are watched by the very audiences, minorities and women, you claim that we disregard and “degrade.” In fact, Monday Night Raw is the most-watched entertainment program on primetime cable among Hispanic viewers and number four among African-Americans. Also nearly 40% of our audience is female. We would not have 13 million weekly TV viewers in the U.S. if they felt our programming was insulting or degrading.

Our company started with 13 employees and has grown to nearly 700 employees, which speaks to the quality and staying power of our product and our organization. WWE’s programming may not be your personal choice of entertainment, but that does not give you the right to recklessly damage our corporate reputation. We would appreciate a public apology and an assurance that you will not continue to unfairly denigrate our company.”

More On Kharma’s WWE Return, Beth Phoenix & Bellas Update

23

– The divas of WWE have something to worry about – as Kharma is indeed getting ready to make her return to television in the coming weeks. We reported earlier this week, WWE is looking ahead to a Kharma vs. Beth Phoenix feud and feels that it has the potential to be one of the top women’s feuds in many years.

The Beth Phoenix injury angle on RAW was done to get the Divas title off her without her having to face Kharma yet. WWE plans to bring Kharma back as a monster and she will likely squash Nikki Bella to win her first title in WWE.

With reports that the Bella Twins are leaving WWE at the end of the month – whether or not Nikki Bella is Divas champion after next week will say a lot about whether the Bellas signed a contract extension or not.

As for former WWE Divas champion Beth Phoenix posted the following update on Twitter on Wednesday, assuring fans that her [storyline] injury from RAW will not keep her from her scheduled live appearances:

“Thank u for the outpour of support…for all those wondering if I will be at the @navypier signing in #chicago on Saturday, I will be fulfilling all of my #WWE appearance obligations. Nothing will keep me from thanking the @WWEUniverse for being Glamfans. See u there!”

“I dont know where I would be without the love of my life. He has kept my spirits high during this tough week of pain and disappointment.”
