6

— TNA World Heavyweight Champion Bobby Roode is now on Twitter at twitter.com/REALBobbyRoode. He posted his first comments in character.

“Sure Sting is on Twitter, but it only mattered because the leader of the Selfish Generation wasn’t here…until now. Your WORLD CHAMP has arrived,” Roode wrote. “By the way, the World Champion has arrived in Europe – the REAL star of this tour. NOT Sting, Hulk Hogan or Kurt Angle. Remember that.”

— Time.com has published a list of eight celebrity-endorsed financial products they wouldn’t buy and Hulk Hogan’s partnership with Rent-A-Center in which he pitches rent-to-own furniture and electronics is listed. Hogan, who is described as a former WWE star, is criticized for endorsing a television that “works out to more than twice what a comparable product would cost if you purchased it.”

Another fan wrote in that other stars were much more worthy of the honor than Warrior. He replied,

“Yeah, and none w/balls to turn VKM invite down like I already did.”

“Zero. Why would he?”

“Achievements worth honoring should not also be shit upon by the very people who desire bestowing honor. That is shit this Honoree won’t eat.”

Luger Says He Would Be Honored To Be Inducted Into The HOF

22

During a recent public appearance, Lex Luger was asked what being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame would mean to him.

“It would just be a tremendous honor if someday I was inducted in the Hall of Fame, but really, we’re here to get down to glory to God now with our lives and serve others and use open vessels for him to bring people to Christ,” says Luger, who in 2006 declared himself a born again Christian.

Lex continues, “But, would that be an honor? It’s something that would also help to use as a platform to continue ministry as well. It would be wonderful, definitely.”

Wrestlezone.com reported last week that Luger not being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame this year as part of the Horsemen clan stems from the events surrounding Miss Elizabeth’s death, who passed away on May 1, 2003 in the home they shared. Her cause of death, according to the coroner’s report, was “acute toxicity” brought on by a buffet of prescription painkillers and vodka. Many people in WWE blame Luger for her tragic death as he’s seen as her enabler. Luger himself has admitted to being a negative influence on her life.

“I take a lot of responsibility for that—my influence in her life,” he told ESPN.com in 2007 regarding his heavy drug abuse, which rubbed off on her during their relationship. “Her little heart and body couldn’t take what I was doing.”

He tweeted Sunday, “I’ve never asked Daniel Bryan for anything for my help and guidance over the years. So now perhaps it’s time. I still want to be the first English World Champion. I would like Daniel Bryan to grant me a title shot. WWE pay attention.”

Regal then stated in response to those who doubt his ability: “It seems as though a lot of people think the same. One thing though, I don’t deserve a title shot, but I want one. Some people think I’m not up to it. People have been counting me out for years but I can still wrestle as good as ANYONE in the world.”

Regal faced Bryan in his last WWE match, which took place at the November 8, 2011 WWE Superstars taping in Liverpool, England. Regal’s last match on a top-tier show was also against Bryan, on the December 20, 2010 Raw.

I have been campaigning for WWE to let me compete in one and have even volunteered to put my Divas Championship on the line in it against absolutely anybody. Tully Blanchard Interview – WWE HOF, Triple H, The Horsemen

4

WWE Hall of Famer Tully Blanchard appeared on Busted Open, which airs every Monday, Wednesday and Friday on Sirius 92 and XM 208 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Highlights from the interview are as follows:

Why Barry Windham was chosen over other members for the WWE Hall of Fame: “The most dynamic group that we had was with Barry. You had more guys that could perform with more opponents. Big, small, all sizes and that was the most powerful group we had. Lex Luger was an addition. He was just coming in to work for Crockett as Ole was on his way out. So it was a place to put Luger to try to get him instantly to a star status since he had such a great look and it worked and it worked for quite a while. But when we switched him to babyface and Barry came back as a heel you had four guys that who could perform with Andre the Giant or the Rock and Roll Express or The Road Warriors. We could go out with all shapes and sizes and go out and tear the house down, and that is where your dynamics and your benefit for your promotion came.

Triple H possibly inducting The Four Horsemen: “He just shared with me in brief that he watched and appreciated everything we did, not just we, but he was talking about me specifically. Before he got into wrestling or at the start of his career, as he went in, if that is what he watched and that is what he molded himself after, then he would have a great amount of input on how the images of the Four Horsemen blended together and affected him.”

Thoughts on JJ Dillon: “JJ is definitely one of the finest managers in my opinion, if not the best manager that the wrestling business has ever had, and I have known some good ones. But a lot of the very good ones were fighting for center stage with talent many times, and JJ never did that. He complemented everything that was done and not taking away from what the guy was doing in the ring or what the guys were doing in the ring. That made it very, very simple to go out and perform, just like you’re out there by yourself or in a tag team match and JJ could put the gas to the fire when you needed it.”

What he expects the night of the Hall of Fame: “Right now the biggest honor is to be in the WWE Hall of Fame, in the wrestling business. There will be twenty thousand people at the American Airlines Center that Saturday night watching it. If I am still on this earth, I’ll be there, and I’m planning on having my four children there with me. They were born after my wrestling career and they have not really grabbed hold of the fact of what I used to do. With the magnitude of this setting and with Wrestlemania and Saturday night and Fan Axxess. My children have never seen me in that big of a setting. They have been in a couple of autograph settings with me, but this is going to be a little eye opening for them.”

Chris Jericho Invests In Florida Fitness Center With Tim Tebow

Chris Jericho & Tim Tebow: Business Partners

Chris Jericho, NFL quarterback Tim Tebow, baseball player Chipper Jones and NFL linebacker Derrick Brooks are now business partners – as co-owners of the new D1 Sports Training and Therapy center in Tampa, Florida. The facility focuses on training Division 1 college athletes.

Jones and Brooks will be hosting a members-only D1 Experience event on Saturday, January 21. Jericho will be hosting a D1 Experience event on Saturday, January, 28. The date for Tebow’s members-only D1 Experience event at D1 Tampa is to be determined.

The facility, located on Gunn Highway in Citrus Park. features an 18,000+ square-foot training space and an additional 10,000 square feet for Westchase Sports Medicine and Patients First family medicine practice.

Here’s what Chris Jericho and Tim Tebow are saying about the new facility:

CHRIS JERICHO: “It’s such an exciting honor to be part of D1 Tampa! After training around the world at an advanced level for over 25 years, I can honestly say this is the finest fitness facility that I have ever been a part of. I’m so stoked to see the city of Tampa become a more physically fit community as a result of D1 and I plan to train here as much as possible!

TIM TEBOW: “It’s so exciting to be a part of D1 in Tampa. When I graduated from Florida I had to find the perfect place to train to get ready for the (NFL) combine. I traveled all over the country in search of a facility that would fit my needs. Of all the places that I visited around the country, I found that D1 had everything I needed and it ended up being the right place for me.”

“I love the training philosophy as well as the mentality the staff brings to work every day. They are so passionate about training, getting people in shape and improving their mind along with their focus on life. I was honored when I had the opportunity to become a part of the D1 family.”

MAILBAG: Does WWE Really Think Its Fans Are Stupid?

29

SEScoops Mailbag for January 20th

(please submit YOUR questions to [email protected])

Q: If CM Punk vs. Bryan Danielson were to happen at a future Wrestlemania, and they both were given little to no restrictions as to what they were allowed to do in the ring (wishful thinking), could that match surpass Randy Savage vs. Ricky Steamboat or Shawn Michaels vs. The Undertaker (either one if you consider either of their Mania matches [to be] the greatest of all time) as the greatest Wrestlemania [ever]? – Trey A.

A: This is a totally subjective question for which there is no answer. Of course they may have a better match than either of the two you mention, or they may not. Who is to say you won’t think it’s the greatest thing since sliced bread (#2) and I don’t think that it sucks? Having seen what both men can do in the indie scene without the proverbial handcuffs, I have no doubt they could tear the house down.

Q: I was watching the brutal “I Quit” match between The Rock and Mankind at the 1999 Royal Rumble PPV the other day. When Foley took that ugly bump into the electronic equipment, I saw Shane [McMahon] and other officials coming out trying to stop the match, but Rock, who obviously remained [in character] said something like ”No, not this. No nothing! This SOB is gonna say I quit!”. My question is, did officials try to stop the match for real or it was just another great display of kayfabe? Did they actually [break the fourth wall]? – Marko

A: It was all part of the show. The spot was planned and they were not trying to stop the match. Looking back and knowing what was yet to come with the chairshots, I wish they would have stopped it then.

Q: What’s the history between Chris Jericho and Goldberg? Why don’t the two get along? – Jay Holla

A: Goldberg did not want to work with Jericho during their WCW days. Jericho began mocking Goldberg on TV each week, which he figured would build to an eventual match where Goldberg would destroy him. That match never came and, as he talks about in his first book, Goldberg was none too happy about being made fun of by the “smaller” Jericho. Not getting the Goldberg match was one of the things that led to Jericho leaving the promotion. Later, there was an incident between them backstage at a WWE taping that ended with Jericho trapping him in a front-face lock before they were pulled apart.

Q: I watched WrestleMania 19 recently and I was amazed at how excellent this show was from top to bottom, excluding the [Miller Lite] cat fight girls of course. One of the things that struck me the most was the build up for these matches, especially the Hogan and McMahon match. What is your opinion on this WrestleMania and for 2003 in general for wrestling? – Richard Sanders

A: 2003 was a fantastic year for Smackdown. It was arguably the A-show for most of the year, just a ton of great talent and kick ass wrestling matches. As for WrestleMania 19, it really did have several marquee matches on top, but oddly enough, it did terrible business on PPV relative to most other Mania shows of the past decade. I’m not quite sure why, but I thought it was a very good show.

Q: I’ve always been a big fan of Bryan Danielson, but there’s something I never got around to asking about him and that is what is up with his body? I’m sure most people have noticed these weird white discolorations on Bryan’s body, which are most apparent on his arms and elbows. What is the deal with those? – John Heaney

A: Bryan has admitted to having vitiligo, which is a skin disorder that results in loss of pigmentation. It is the same condition that Michael Jackson suffered from. Apparently, he has had it from a young age on various parts of his body (face, shoulders, elbows, legs) and uses a tanning cream to cover up any white spots.

Q: Do you think the Paul Burchill/Katie Lea incest angle that never happened may have been one of the many factors that led to the PG turn? – Jonny, London, UK

A: Actually, Burchill has claimed the reason the angle was scrapped was because WWE officially went PG just two weeks later. I don’t believe one caused the other, it was just a bad twist of fate. Or a good one, depending on your view of the angle.

Q: About a month or two ago, Daniel Bryan cashed in his Money in the Bank on Mark Henry, only to have it reversed because Henry was not medically cleared to compete. On RAW, Jack Swagger beat Zack Ryder for the US title when Ryder wasn’t medically cleared. This inconsistency was not touched on or explained on RAW (figured John Cena would bring it up to Johnny L.) Once again, does WWE think we’re that dumb and are supposed to just forget this writing flaw? – Joe B.

A: Yes.
