JR Blog: Jeff Hardy, Angle-WWE, Snooki Wrestling

11

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross is back with another blog update, which you can read in its entirety at JRsBarBQ.com. Here are some highlights of what JR said about:

Snooki Wrestling: “While Snooki’s in ring expertise may never be confused with many past or present WWE Divas, the value of having Snooki on the Wrestlemania card has already been established with the massive amount of main stream PR that the ‘Jersey Shore’ personality has garnered. I was amazed at how short Snooki was as she seemed to be cooperative and professional based on my limited observations of her.”

Kurt Angle Back in WWE: “Will Kurt Angle ever return to WWE? How would I or any one other than Kurt and the WWE decision makers know the answer to this? However, I’d suggest that most former WWE talents who had the chance to come back to WWE and earn a good, steady living would all entertain that thought. Angle’s greatest professional moments IMO were in WWE and him being able to finish in WWE might make for some compelling TV. Again, not my call.”

Jeff Hardy’s Recent Issues: “I choose not to respond in detail to recent TNA internal issues as I don’t follow their product closely nor do I know the actual details of what may or may not have occurred over the past few days. However, I do still profess to the philosophy that if one can’t solve a problem one must eliminate it.”

Mysterio Denies Release Reports, Miss USA On “Tough Enough”

11

— Rey Mysterio has denied online reports indicating that he requested his release from World Wrestling Entertainment.

“Confirming! Did not ask 4 release!” he wrote on Twitter. “Those that like me, u will have Rey 4 a good time&those that don’t, well life isn’t always sweet, 619 out!”

— It would appear that reigning Miss USA 2010, Rima Fakih, does not win Tough Enough as she said on her Twitter account yesterday that she was away shooting the USA Network program. Tough Enough trainers Trish Stratus and Bill DeMott have noted on their respective Twitter accounts that filming is currently ongoing for the reality series. Tough Enough contestants are reportedly prohibited from communicating with the outside world throughout the duration of their stay on the show.

More On Why Jeff Hardy’s Case Was Delayed Today

17

As reported earlier, TNA star Jeff Hardy was scheduled to appear in a North Carolina court on Wednesday morning for the latest hearing related to his pending drug charges, but the case was delayed once again and a continuance was issued.

According to FayObserver.com, the case was delayed because prosecutors are still awaiting the results of lab tests from the State Bureau of Investigation on some of the evidence that was seized from Hardy’s home on the day of his arrest back in September 2009.

Hardy’s lawyer has stated publicly that Hardy will plead guilty to some of the charges and prosecutors are still working on the terms of a plea deal.

A TNA spokesman had no comment on how the company is dealing with Jeff Hardy in the midst of these charges, but did say that TNA has a drug policy. No further details were given.

After FIU, he was a priority free agent with the Miami Dolphins and attended mini-camps, before hanging up his cleats to pursue his dream to entertain in the ring.

Eric Watts: Eric, 25, hopes to become a WWE Superstar to fulfill his childhood dream. “WWE needs my afro and my tall, dark and handsome good looks,” says the 6’5″ behemoth. Eric hails from Pasadena, California where he spent two years on his High School varsity football team as left tackle, earning All-League Honors. Eric was recruited by colleges for football, but opted not to attend so he could pursue his dream.

Jeremiah Riggs: This 28-year-old truck driver from Vicksburg, Mississippi is a natural athlete who prides himself on taking on new challenges. He was a US Army Ranger with the 1st Battalion and did a tour in Afghanistan in 2004. Mickael Zaki: Mickael, 26, is an unemployed WWE hopeful hailing from Jersey City, NJ. He has lived the 9 to 5 lifestyle and hated every second of it. For him, being a WWE Superstar would allow him to escape this fate.

Ryan Howe: This 23-year-old aspiring musician and independent wrestler hails from Hebron, Indiana. He has two years of wrestling experience and hopes to win “WWE Tough Enough” and a WWE contract to make everyone who ever believed in him proud, especially his family, his trainer, Tracy Smothers, and his girlfriend, Tiffany.

Ariane Andrew: The 23-year-old Ariane is the quintessential Valley Girl. What Ariane lacks in wrestling experience she makes up for with bubbly charm. Ariane hopes to become a WWE diva so she can display her alter-ego, a hard-edged girl that doesn’t give a crap.

Christina Crawford: Christina, 22, is a senior at the University of Central Florida studying Interpersonal Communications. She is a member of her college dance team.

JR Responds To ‘Mania Rumors, Tough Enough Drama

6

— Jim Ross has responded to yesterday’s report that current creative plans call for him to announce at least two matches at WrestleMania XXVII.

“I find it interesting that so many websites know my wm27 role, allegedly, and I don’t. ‘Net rumors= news items. Irresponsible ‘reporting’,” he wrote on Twitter. “My role at WM27 is to appear @ Axxess. NOTHING else has been confirmed. ‘Net sites should tell me the outcome of my Drs visit later 2day.”

Tough Enough contestants Christina Crawford and Andy Leavine were under contract to WWE when they were tapped for the USA Network reality show last month. There has been some grumbling on the set of the two being ‘ringers’ (ie. somebody with experience being placed in a situation with amateurs) due to their recent association with WWE’s developmental system.

TNA star Jeff Hardy was scheduled to appear in a Moore County, North Carolina court on Wednesday morning, but once again, the case was continued to a later date.

This time, the reason for the continuance was that the district attorney’s office is still waiting for evidence to come back from the state bureau of investigation.

Hardy is facing multiple drug charges, including felony trafficking, stemming from his September 2009 arrest.

Daffney’s Lawsuit Against TNA, Hogan’s Involvement With MCW

8

— Daffney announced today via Twitter that she has filed a workers’ compensation claim against TNA Wrestling, stemming from injuries she sustained working for the organization. According to a few TNA employees, there were issues between Daffney and the company regarding her medical expenses being covered after she suffered a concussion taking a bump through a barbed wire board at the October 2009 Bound For Glory pay-per-view event. The issue had been brewing for some time, which explains why she hadn’t been used as of late.

Daffney’s contract with TNA Wrestling expired today. Her profile was removed from the company website yesterday.

— Micro Championship Wrestling, which debuts later this year on truTV, is filming in Fayetteville, North Carolina for the next several days. Ex-TNA Writer Discusses TNA’s Booking Philosophy & Russo

10

Power Slam recently conducted an interview with Wayne Keown, better known as Dutch Mantel. Having been involved with the wrestling industry since 1973, he accepted a behind the scenes role with TNA Wrestling in 2003, where the company’s booking strategy often clashed with his own. Dutch discussed his experience with TNA and explained the organization’s booking philosophy.

After you left the IWA in 2003, you took a job on the TNA creative team. Your booking philosophy was at odds with TNA’s during Vince Russo’s early years with the company and after he officially returned in September 2006, I know you believe wrestling should be realistic, and feature clearly-defined characters and logical storylines which build to a conclusion. And, yet, you worked alongside Russo from September 2006 to summer 2009, a period in which TNA’s output typically consisted of the reverse: puerile characters and nonsensical storylines in a package which was often congested viewers found it impossible to digest what they had just seen.

I like Dixie Carter, but you can’t have too much [on iMPACT!]. They are so afraid somebody’s going to change the channel and go somewhere else.

I think TNA’s roster is much better than WWE’s. But when you’ve got someone like AJ Styles, you’ve got to let him wrestle. You’ve also got to get your characters over. TNA to me is trying to do the same things that WWE is doing. They’re trying to be a copy — and not a good one — instead of being the alternative. [TNA] has come under criticism … but the company can do what they want to do. Then again, I spent six years there watching them do things differently to how I would do them.

When Russo proposed ideas which you thought were ridiculous during creative meetings, would you object to them?

Everything in TNA was done by committee, by vote. I’ll say this about Vince: he has some pretty decent ideas at the start, but what he’s lacking — and Bret Hart, “Stone Cold” and even Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff have said this as well — is the execution of the ideas. You’ve got to take a good idea all the way through to the end of the process. And when the ideas failed, as most of them did, well … Look [TNA] was a committee. If the committee decided that was the way to they wanted to go, then I would say, “Okay, let’s do it.

If people in power realize that the “execution of the ideas” in which Russo is “lacking”, why doesn’t somebody force him to rectify this and do his job properly?

Well, I don’t know.

Russo can’t see how flawed his approach is. If he could, he would have corrected it years ago. I think the burning question is, why is the man still employed by TNA?

I do think his major attribute is being able to stay employed. I don’t know how he does it to tell you the truth. When I was there, we got a 1.3 rating. Since I left in July 2009 (note: interview was conducted in January), they haven’t gone above a 1.3. We’re 18 months later, and TNA has got Hulk Hogan, Eric Bischoff, Rob Van Dam, Jeff Hardy, and the ratings haven’t even gone up. Look, I wish them all the best in the world, I really do. I like Jeff Jarrett and Dixie — but if you expressed an opinion in TNA, sometimes [the booking team] would look at you like you’d just spit on the Pope. I spoke a language they didn’t speak. I spoke wrestling. They don’t speak that.

Wade Barrett Talks WrestleMania 27, Triple H, Jericho

6

Corre leader Wade Barrett was recently interviewed by Sky Sports to promote WrestleMania 27. Here are some highlights of what Barrett said about:

Whether He’ll Wrestle at WrestleMania 27:

“It’s not officially set-up but in some capacity, I’m definitely going to be performing on the show. I can’t confirm anything. I’ve been feuding with the Big Show for some time now so I’d love to do something with him. I think I’ve got a score to settle with him and hopefully that will be at WrestleMania. But if not, I’ll be involved in some capacity.”

Triple H Saying He’s Got Nothing Left To Do In WWE:

“Yes, I think so. I think a lot of people heard that and maybe were a bit disgruntled by it. Triple H certainly has beaten everybody there is to beat. He really is one of the best in history. But there really are a lot of young lions coming through at the moment. Triple H has certainly never beaten me. We’ve never been in the ring together. I would like to do battle with him one day.”

Keeping In Touch With Chris Jericho, His NXT Season 1 Pro:

“Even though he’s not in the WWE at the moment, who gives me a lot of advice. We’re constantly texting and calling each other,” Barrett said. “As soon as I do something right or do something wrong, he’ll let me know pretty quickly. I’m hopeful that in some point in the future he’ll be back in the WWE.”

“Top Model” Contestant Confirmed For WWE’s “Tough Enough”

Ross Comments On Appearance, Wrestler Removed From FCW

7

— Jim Ross appeared on Raw last night to come to the defense of Jerry Lawler, who was being discredited by his WrestleMania opponent, Michael Cole. A war of words commenced which resulted in Ross challenging Cole to a duel. However, Jack Swagger attacked Ross and slapped an ankle lock on the WWE Hall of Famer before imploring Cole to do it him himself.

Ross commented on his return to Raw, writing on Twitter: “I’m sure u enjoyed Raw more than King & I. Appreciated SO much the reception I received in St. L. My leg is a mess. Swagger’s a beast. Thnx 4 overwhelming support 2nite. Over 108,000 followers. Very Humbling. Felt great being back @ ‘home’ on Raw. Ankle looks nasty 4 real.”

Daffney Confirms TNA Departure, Files Workers’ Comp Claim

20

Daffney issued a statement today on her Twitter account concerning her status with TNA Wrestling and she confirms that she has parted ways with the organization. Her contract expires today and company officials opted not to renew it. The “Scream Queen” claims she is unsure if her contract not being renewed is tied to her filing a workers’ compensation claim against the organization due to injuries she sustained working for them.

“Yesterday my picture was taken down off of the TNA roster page. My contract expires today and TNA did not renew it,” she wrote. “I do not know if it has anything to do with it, but I’ve made a Worker’s Comp claim against them due to injuries I’ve sustained in the ring and my lawyers said to not go into anymore details.”

At the April 20, 2010 iMPACT! taping, Daffney was injured during a dark match against a novice performer, Miss Betsy (a/k/a Rosie Lottalove). She was taken to a hospital, where she was diagnosed with a deeply bruised sternum, a severe stinger and a concussion. Daffney made her return to TNA at the June 14 Xplosion taping, but would not resurface again until the December 9 episode of iMPACT!. This marked her final appearance for TNA.

Knockout Added Back To TNA Roster, Dinero Returns Home

0

— It was speculated that Miss Tessmacher has parted ways with TNA Wrestling considering her pictures were removed from their website on Monday. However, they were added back today, as well as a profile to the roster page.

Daffney and Kiyoshi, however, were not added back to the site.

Jacksonville.com has an article on “The Pope” D’Angelo Dinero, who returns to the city where he used to work as a corrections officer at this Friday’s TNA Wrestling live event in Jacksonville, Florida.

“Talk about coming home. One of my childhood houses … is literally under the Veterans Memorial Arena parking. You could stand in the back of the coliseum where you pull in the back and that is my house or it was,” Dinero reminisces. “We are standing on sacred ground when you stand there. So much happened there.”

Hulk Hogan Apologizes For Insensitive Tsunami Comments

20

At Monday night’s TNA iMPACT! tapings from Orlando, Hulk Hogan made some comments to the live crowd about members of the TNA roster wanting to join his “tsunami” – which is of course in ridiculously bad taste following the earthquake and tsunami in Japan that has claimed upwards of 10,000 lives.

Hulk Hogan posted the following on his Twitter account, apologizing for the remarks:

“The tsunami of wrestling wasn’t cool,it will never air,it’s already cut out,but when your cuttin promos old school and not following a Script like the other robots will no skills, sometimes you make mistakes. I’m sorry,I was on a roll and made a mistake.nothing but love and Total respect for Japan, but you guys already know that. I totally apologize. keepin it real HH4Life.Much respect, love for Japan HH”

Based on what we’re hearing, the line was not scripted by TNA’s writers and was a sample of the improv stylings of Hulk Hogan. Hogan knocks script writers in his apology, but appears pretty oblivious to what happens when wrestlers go “old school” and say the first thing that pops in their head. D’oh!

What Happened After RAW, Dark Matches, Superstars Tapings

14

– R-Truth beat Tyson Kidd in a dark match prior to RAW.

– Matches taped tonight in St. Louis, Missouri for this Thursday’s episode of WWE Superstars on WGN America are as follows:

  • Santino Marella and Vladimir Kozlov vs. Jey Uso and Jimmy Uso
  • Eve, Gail Kim, Natalya and Tamina vs. Alicia Fox, Brie Bella, Melina and Nikki Bella

– After Monday’s episode of WWE RAW went off the air, Triple H came out and worked the dark match main event.

Triple H teamed with Randy Orton in a match against Nexus leader CM Punk and new United States champion Sheamus. Triple H and Randy Orton got the win in a match that was said to have a lot of exciting moments.

Triple H and Randy Orton celebrated at ringside for a few minute after the match before making their ways up the ramp together and sending the crowd home happy.

Two More Wrestlers Removed From TNA Roster

5

In addition to Daffney, Miss Tessmacher and Kiyoshi were also removed from the TNA Wrestling.com website roster pages Monday. This would indicate that they have parted ways with the organization.

Kiyoshi has been sparingly used in recent months, having only competed in a single match as the mysterious character since being dismissed as the man under the Suicide costume in October. He joined the organization during the later half of 2008 and would notably form alliances with the tag team No Limit (Yujiro and Naito) as well as the World Elite faction.

Tessmacher was never listed on the company website’s roster page. However, she was featured on its Knockouts photo section, which were removed Monday. She debuted last March as Eric Bischoff’s assistant and would transition to a wrestler role by the end of the year. Her burgeoning wrestling career, however, came to an abrupt halt as she claimed to have suffered a broken jaw on Christmas Day. She has not appeared for TNA since the incident.
