Wade Barrett Talks WrestleMania 27, Triple H, Jericho

6

Corre leader Wade Barrett was recently interviewed by Sky Sports to promote WrestleMania 27. Here are some highlights of what Barrett said about:

Whether He’ll Wrestle at WrestleMania 27:

“It’s not officially set-up but in some capacity, I’m definitely going to be performing on the show. I can’t confirm anything. I’ve been feuding with the Big Show for some time now so I’d love to do something with him. I think I’ve got a score to settle with him and hopefully that will be at WrestleMania. But if not, I’ll be involved in some capacity.”

Triple H Saying He’s Got Nothing Left To Do In WWE:

“Yes, I think so. I think a lot of people heard that and maybe were a bit disgruntled by it. Triple H certainly has beaten everybody there is to beat. He really is one of the best in history. But there really are a lot of young lions coming through at the moment. Triple H has certainly never beaten me. We’ve never been in the ring together. I would like to do battle with him one day.”

Keeping In Touch With Chris Jericho, His NXT Season 1 Pro:

“Even though he’s not in the WWE at the moment, who gives me a lot of advice. We’re constantly texting and calling each other,” Barrett said. “As soon as I do something right or do something wrong, he’ll let me know pretty quickly. I’m hopeful that in some point in the future he’ll be back in the WWE.”

“Top Model” Contestant Confirmed For WWE’s “Tough Enough”

3

Reality television star Michelle Deighton, 25, has been confirmed as a contestant on Tough Enough. She appeared a contestant on America’s Next Top Model in 2005 and is the wife of Survivor star Jonny Fairplay. Deighton is a trained wrestler who made an appearance on the November 11, 2005 episode of SmackDown.

While Fairplay declined to comment on the matter when reached, he alluded to his wife’s involvement with the show during a video posted on GeekWeek.com. The video features Fairplay, Deighton and Gregory Helms participating in a Ric Flair chop contest and the former TNA Wrestling personality says at one point that she is “tough enough.”

Sources within WWE have confirmed that Deighton is a contestant on the USA Network show.

Ross Comments On Appearance, Wrestler Removed From FCW

7

— Jim Ross appeared on Raw last night to come to the defense of Jerry Lawler, who was being discredited by his WrestleMania opponent, Michael Cole. A war of words commenced which resulted in Ross challenging Cole to a duel. However, Jack Swagger attacked Ross and slapped an ankle lock on the WWE Hall of Famer before imploring Cole to do it him himself.

Ross commented on his return to Raw, writing on Twitter: “I’m sure u enjoyed Raw more than King & I. Appreciated SO much the reception I received in St. L. My leg is a mess. Swagger’s a beast. Thnx 4 overwhelming support 2nite. Over 108,000 followers. Very Humbling. Felt great being back @ ‘home’ on Raw. Ankle looks nasty 4 real.”

— Kenny Li was removed from the Florida Championship Wrestling website’s roster page, which would indicate that he has been released by his developmental contract with WWE.

— WWE developmental wrestler Peter Orlov has launched a Twitter account.

Daffney Confirms TNA Departure, Files Workers’ Comp Claim

20

Daffney issued a statement today on her Twitter account concerning her status with TNA Wrestling and she confirms that she has parted ways with the organization. Her contract expires today and company officials opted not to renew it. The “Scream Queen” claims she is unsure if her contract not being renewed is tied to her filing a workers’ compensation claim against the organization due to injuries she sustained working for them.

“Yesterday my picture was taken down off of the TNA roster page. My contract expires today and TNA did not renew it,” she wrote. “I do not know if it has anything to do with it, but I’ve made a Worker’s Comp claim against them due to injuries I’ve sustained in the ring and my lawyers said to not go into anymore details.”

At the April 20, 2010 iMPACT! taping, Daffney was injured during a dark match against a novice performer, Miss Betsy (a/k/a Rosie Lottalove). She was taken to a hospital, where she was diagnosed with a deeply bruised sternum, a severe stinger and a concussion. Daffney made her return to TNA at the June 14 Xplosion taping, but would not resurface again until the December 9 episode of iMPACT!. This marked her final appearance for TNA.

Knockout Added Back To TNA Roster, Dinero Returns Home

0

— It was speculated that Miss Tessmacher has parted ways with TNA Wrestling considering her pictures were removed from their website on Monday. However, they were added back today, as well as a profile to the roster page.

Daffney and Kiyoshi, however, were not added back to the site.

Jacksonville.com has an article on “The Pope” D’Angelo Dinero, who returns to the city where he used to work as a corrections officer at this Friday’s TNA Wrestling live event in Jacksonville, Florida.

“Talk about coming home. One of my childhood houses … is literally under the Veterans Memorial Arena parking. You could stand in the back of the coliseum where you pull in the back and that is my house or it was,” Dinero reminisces. “We are standing on sacred ground when you stand there. So much happened there.”

Hulk Hogan Apologizes For Insensitive Tsunami Comments

20

At Monday night’s TNA iMPACT! tapings from Orlando, Hulk Hogan made some comments to the live crowd about members of the TNA roster wanting to join his “tsunami” – which is of course in ridiculously bad taste following the earthquake and tsunami in Japan that has claimed upwards of 10,000 lives.

Hulk Hogan posted the following on his Twitter account, apologizing for the remarks:

“The tsunami of wrestling wasn’t cool,it will never air,it’s already cut out,but when your cuttin promos old school and not following a Script like the other robots will no skills, sometimes you make mistakes. I’m sorry,I was on a roll and made a mistake.nothing but love and Total respect for Japan, but you guys already know that. I totally apologize. keepin it real HH4Life.Much respect, love for Japan HH”

Based on what we’re hearing, the line was not scripted by TNA’s writers and was a sample of the improv stylings of Hulk Hogan. Hogan knocks script writers in his apology, but appears pretty oblivious to what happens when wrestlers go “old school” and say the first thing that pops in their head. D’oh!

What Happened After RAW, Dark Matches, Superstars Tapings

14

– R-Truth beat Tyson Kidd in a dark match prior to RAW.

– After Monday’s episode of WWE RAW went off the air, Triple H came out and worked the dark match main event.

Triple H teamed with Randy Orton in a match against Nexus leader CM Punk and new United States champion Sheamus. Triple H and Randy Orton got the win in a match that was said to have a lot of exciting moments.

Triple H and Randy Orton celebrated at ringside for a few minute after the match before making their ways up the ramp together and sending the crowd home happy.

Two More Wrestlers Removed From TNA Roster

5

In addition to Daffney, Miss Tessmacher and Kiyoshi were also removed from the TNA Wrestling.com website roster pages Monday. This would indicate that they have parted ways with the organization.

Kiyoshi has been sparingly used in recent months, having only competed in a single match as the mysterious character since being dismissed as the man under the Suicide costume in October. He joined the organization during the later half of 2008 and would notably form alliances with the tag team No Limit (Yujiro and Naito) as well as the World Elite faction.

Tessmacher was never listed on the company website’s roster page. However, she was featured on its Knockouts photo section, which were removed Monday. She debuted last March as Eric Bischoff’s assistant and would transition to a wrestler role by the end of the year. Her burgeoning wrestling career, however, came to an abrupt halt as she claimed to have suffered a broken jaw on Christmas Day. She has not appeared for TNA since the incident.

— Former WWE Superstar Brian Christopher (also known as Grandmaster Sexay) appeared on tonight’s episode of Raw and accused his father, Jerry Lawler, of being absent from his life growing up. The former Tag Team Champion proclaimed that he was the bigger Superstar of the two and that the reason he didn’t use the Lawler name during his time in WWE was because he was ashamed of him.

Christopher’s appearance was just a one time cameo to build Lawler’s feud with Michael Cole.

— Drew Carey, LayCool, Vickie Guerrero, Brodus Clay and Trish Stratus were all trending worldwide terms on Twitter tonight.

— No members of Nexus will be in CM Punk’s corner for his match against Randy Orton at WrestleMania XXVII. Just as Michael McGillicutty and David Otunga, “The Viper” punted Ryan in the skull following his victory tonight on Raw, which would indicate that he has been written off television for the time being. The Welsh grappler was stretchered out of the arena during the commercial break.

— Evan Bourne’s family as well as Randy Orton’s daughter and wife all sat ringside at tonight’s Raw taping in St. Louis, Missouri. Bourne, however, did not appear make a live appearance.

Daffney Gone From TNA, Red Running Wrestling School, Foley

5

— Daffney was removed from TNAWrestling.com’s roster page today, which would likely indicate that she has parted ways with the organization. Reportedly, she has been used sparingly in recent months because organization officials were waiting for her contract to expire.

The days of lighting up 20,000 people every single night of the week, no matter what day it was, and 90,000 on a big show like WrestleMania, that was a blast, but those days are over, and I’ve had some great times in this ring. And when I think back, I’ve got a lot of great memories, and this is about as close as I want to be.”

Gregory Helms Receives Police Citation After Bar Fight

11

Former WWE performer Gregory Shane Helms has been cited by police for allegedly engaging in a fight at a bar in Smithfield, North Carolina.

Gregory Shane Helms, 36, and Kevin Wayne Creech, 38, were both cited for simple affray following an altercation at approximately 10:00 p.m. last night at a bar called The Rehab.

Police said Creech reportedly touched Helms’ girlfriend, which led to the confrontation. The touch was “not inappropriate” but it reportedly led to an argument then a brief struggle between the two men. Both men were released at the scene but were ordered to appear in court on April 28 to answer charges.

In May 2008, Helms was charged with assault following an alleged incident at another club in Smithfield. Those charges were dismissed in July 2008.

Jeff Hardy’s TNA Future, Backstage Reaction To His Behavior

21

As reported earlier, TNA Wrestling officials made the decision to send Jeff Hardy home from this week’s iMPACT! television tapings. Reports from last night’s show were that Hardy was in no condition to perform and management decided to cut his match with Sting short.

Unlike the last time there was a question about Hardy’s condition (prior to the Final Resolution pay-per-view in December, company officials were going to strip Hardy of the World Heavyweight Championship due to his condition backstage at the event, but then changed their minds) no one within the company has attempted to defend him. Many company employees are very upset about the situation, especially with the decision to allow Hardy to go out in front of the audience considering he stumbled on the ramp and nearly tripped over the ring steps. Others were surprised that an audible wasn’t called to “make it up” to the audience.

While Hardy has been sent home from this week’s iMPACT! tapings, no further decision has been made regarding his future in the organization.

Hardy tweeted last night that “things are op.” His next court date in Moore County, North Carolina is scheduled for Wednesday.

UFC’s Parent Company ZUFFA Purchases Strikeforce

7

UFC president Dana White announced over the weekend that UFC’s parent company Zuffa had purchased UFC’s rival promotion, Strikeforce. UFC issued a press release on Monday officially announcing the sale.

UFC President Dana White maintains that Strikeforce will continue to operate on its own, all Strikeforce fighter contracts will be honored and Strikeforce’s television deal with Showtime will be honored.

“We have worked hard to make mixed martial arts the fastest growing sport in the world,” UFC President Dana White said in the press release. “We’ve spent countless hours getting this sport regulated and taking the Octagon® all over the world. Acquiring the Strikeforce assets allows us to continue to develop this sport into a global force.”

Strikeforce currently runs 16 events per year and will continue to do so under the new arrangement. The press release states, “While there are currently no plans to bring Strikeforce fighters to the UFC, a new strategy to strengthen Strikeforce’s talented roster is being developed.”

Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker, who has signed a new longterm deal with Zuffa is quoted in the press release as saying “This is an important day for the sport of mixed martial arts. We are excited to work with Lorenzo Fertitta, Frank Fertitta, Dana White and everyone at the UFC on the quest to make MMA the biggest sport in the world.”

“Fans can continue to expect quality Strikeforce shows and we look forward to giving our athletes an even broader platform on which to perform.”

Jeff Hardy Sent Home By TNA: Lots Of New Details

28

To follow up on our previous report that the main event of TNA Victory Road between Sting and Jeff Hardy was cut short due to Jeff Hardy being in “no condition to perform” – we can report that TNA management held a meeting on Monday morning and it was decided that Jeff Hardy should not appear at this week’s iMPACT! tapings. (Source: pwinsider.com)

Jeff Hardy was never booked to win the TNA championship at Victory Road, but Sting was supposed to retain the title after an actual match.

Late Sunday night, Jeff Hardy wrote on Twitter that “Things are op” .. He presumably meant “Things are okay,” but who knows at this point.

Regarding Jeff Hardy getting squashed in one minute at Victory Road, Joey Styles joked on Twitter, “Last night, I was watching a 15 year old match of Jeff Hardy as enhancement talent on wweclassics.com. That was wweclassics.com, wasn’t it?” He later followed up with, “No hateful replies to my Jeff Hardy tweet this morning. I guess I reconciled with all of you TNA fans and we agree on last night’s debacle.”

As of Monday afternoon, nobody in TNA has publicly commented on the incident.

Check back during the week for more on this developing story.
